Once upon a time, "McMahon's" used to be The Burger Bus, which was a painted old school bus that sold Scotsburn ice cream out of the window, along with a plastic menu written in sharpie of burgers, fries, scallop burgers, and chicken fingers. Also available, via a painted sign nailed to a tree by the highway: "Lobster" Burgers, 30 seconds away from a lobster pound.
This place looks out over Wallace basin, so you could (and still can) chill in the parking lot and watch the herons fish the tide. A fantastic spot to get an ice cream cone, or a transmogrifying seafood burger*.
Unfortunately, a few years ago they decided to retire the bus and build a big vinyl building instead.
I know that my childhood can't stay forever, but I've never really forgiven this shift.
The result is a staff seemingly less friendly than before, the food slightly more expensive, and everything is still just from-frozen food.
2 rather than 1 star because they built a patio and they still have Scotsburn. From now on, though, I'm going to the Chip Ship (a painted old lobster boat in the parking lot of Dutch Mill motel, on the other side of Wallace shore)
*Maybe a real burger committed a crime on turf, so the surf put it in witness protection under "Lobster". Unsure. read more
