Well, I have been here a few times usually eat inside at one of the bars but brought friends from out of town and wanted them to see Pats Cottage. We were greeted immediately and told to sit anywhere outside. I love the ambiance of Pats courtyard which is shaded by trees and shrubs. We chose a table, our server came over to immediately. We ordered a specialty drink off the seasonal menu (contains old crow bourbon), and 2 shots of old crow bourbon neat (Mcmenamins well bourbon). The server came back after a few minutes to tell us they are out of old crow that it will be 15 minutes before they can get more from storage unless we want jack d or Jim B, we chose jack but were disappointed. We then ordered cheese burger sliders and a plate of Cajun tots. We asked if they could add an additional slider to make an even 4. The waitress said absolutely not. The way it came across was rude but then again we are at McMenamins they couldn't care less what my opinion is about service food quality or my dining experience. I only go to McMenamins for their cheese burger sliders because 9/10 times no matter what location you go to. As for the old crow it's suspect that Pats was out of "well bourbon" at 2:00 in the afternoon. Another irritating visit at McMenamins.

Cute space, very cozy. Friendly service. The food was great, however our portion of fries was very small. There are pool tables, Fireplace and cool old album covers on the ceiling. Nice outdoor seating with heaters for cooler days.

Okay the vibe and ambience is the best part of it! I ate indoors since it was a cold winter day and it felt so cozy from the interior design but also the sound of the crackling fire. It also helped that I felt like I was in the tavern from beauty and the beast. The outdoor does have a lot of fire pits which would have been great. Their cocktail options are a bit basic but they're of high quality. Service was also great.

Pat's is a great place to stop before, during, or after a show at the Forrest Grove Grand Lodge McMenamins. Julie and I stopped after the Watkins at the Glen show and again for drinks before we left the Lodge. At night, the had nice fires to hang out around. The beer and drinks were the usual McMenamins fare. Tasty. I was even able to get a gluten-free bun for my burger so, huge win there!

The food here was delicious! Me and my partner actually split the mac & cheese and a salad, which was the perfect portions for two people each. It was a nice sunny day and we got to pick which picnic table we got wanted to sit at. Considering it was Mother's Day weekend and a nice sunny day service was pretty fast once we got assigned our waiter, who was excellent! I really enjoyed the fact that we got to sit out in the grassy area, they do have some things like croquet or frisbee out in the lawn to hang out and play.

I visited McMenamins Grand Lodge and thought I discovered all the cool spots here. But then I found out I missed this bar! It's up on the second floor, past the movie theater, at the end of the hall. And it's only open for a few days over the weekend. But it's such a cool spot to hang out. It's worth a trek up here. They have a few comfy seats to just hang out, enjoy a fine cocktail, listen to funky music, and share time with friends. The bar tender tonight was top-notch, very knowledgeable and friendly and made a terrific Manhattan. Note: Yelp mistakenly associated this review with Pat's Corner. This review is actually for the Billy Scott's bar on the second floor of the Grand Lodge. I attempted to create a new business for Billy Scott's (like the other bars on the property but that was apparently rejected)

This such a nice place to have a meal outside. We had about 8 people in our group and took a seat outside on the picnic tables. I wish I could have remembered our waiters name but he really nice. He did a great job serving our beers and food. I ended up ordering the pulled pork sandwich with a salad. The sandwich was not too bad. The salad was good too. I just don't understand how they an charge over $16.00 for a burger or pulled pork sandwich. I mean the food is not the amazing and the portions are not the biggest I have seen. Oh well, that's the way it goes these days. Supply chain issues I guess driving yo the food prices and the service prices. I I come here once a summer to bite the bullet taking the family out for lunch or dinner. $233.00 for 8 of us to eat and drink. Cheers!!!

Patio seating here, on a sunny spring day, is just about perfect! My wife and I were able to enjoy a couple drinks in the cool sunshine, surrounded by puppies, the smell of wood smoke, and the always desirable company of, well...each other, of course! Pat's Corner is one of the best outdoor cafes across all of the larger McMenamins properties. It's clean, spacious, has a gorgeous few of the manicured grounds, and a cozy, campground aesthetic. The interior appears to be quite nice as well, but unfortunately, all of our visits to the Grand Lodge have been during COVID-lockdowns and restrictions, or under a smothering blanket of wildfire smoke (yeah, that really happened), so I've never had the pleasure of dining inside. Our server was a young lad whose name I forgot to grab, but he clearly stated that he was in training, although he'd been let off his leash and left to fend for himself, since things were pretty busy. A little timid, perhaps, but his service was on point, and he was polite and knowledgeable about the menu. Our cocktail & Terminator Stout came out in a flash, with my wife's ice cream sandwich hot (well, cold) on their heels. Some people have complained about slow service here before, but that has never been the case in our personal experience. If you're a McMenamins regular, you know what you're going to get when you come here for the most part, as the menu tends not to diverge much across their myriad locations. However, for outdoor dining options, Pat's Corner is among their best. Great for family, kids, pets and couples!

Great Great service. Food was very good. Had the dungeon burger while waiting to go to a Tash show. Sat at the bar with Claire and Madison. They get the job done like bosses! The Citrus smash was so delicious and expertly made by Claire. It was busy and those beauties made it look easy. It's far from my home otherwise I'd be here more often.

Glen was amazing! Best wine presentation. Perfect service. Thx!

In general, the Portland metro area doesn't have burgers worth crowing about…read more The old timers will rave about Helvetia Tavern, Skyline, Roake's, Jim Dandy, Mike's Drive In, Fuller's, and Nob Hill burgers. These are various takes on Burger King's Whopper and it's difficult to prove otherwise. Canard's steamed slider? A chef'd up White Castle. Champs, Farmer and the Beast and Tulip Shop? Yes, every city has smash burgers now, congratulations. Wolf's Head? The issue with throwing pork into the mix is some days it's glorious and some days it's the driest burger you'll ever eat. Higgins?! Yes, dad, your $30 bacon cheeseburger was totally worth it and not at all a slightly upgraded McMenamins offering. But Five Stars? I'm genuinely stunned every time Grand Lodge has a show and this place isn't packed. Those who know treasure it, and those who lack the patience are missing out. There's enough commentary on the spartan interior and the counter-and-drink-cooler aesthetic, but the important detail is the note to customers to the right of the register: Your meal is going to take time. It's going to be perhaps 20 to 40 minutes. It will not come out before that time. If you are in a hurry, please go elsewhere. They say this as straightforwardly as they can: They would rather have the time to prepare your meal correctly and sell fewer burgers than churn out nonsense to more customers. Armed with that knowledge, I ordered a bulgogi cheeseburger, took my drink, and settled in to watch the traffic. On a weekday, my only companions were older couples who'd clearly been coming in for years. About 25 minutes later, the burger arrived on its char-toasted kaiser bun (a rarity out here). On the first bite, I encountered both flavor and texture I could only compare to a wagyu-based take on a Big Mac that I'd sampled at a Chicago culinary festival. The patty melted into a near pate, while the bulgogi blended with the cheese into a complementary umami flavor that chains like Umami Burger never quite achieved and local spots like Mr. Bento seem too focused on speed and volume to prepare correctly. I am absolutely late to the party here and realize that countless influencers, food critics, car clubs, and Western Washington County regulars have already made 5 Stars an overwhelming success. But that "best in Oregon" claim isn't just a tilted Yelp score or foodie hyperbole: It's a whole lot of time and effort paying off in a product worth the expense. 5 Star unquestionably makes the best burger in this state, but it's the care taken by the family behind it and the genuine love of the community surrounding it that separates it from the crowd. P.S. I can't believe the former owner of Piattino left a bad review. What would I rather do with my life: Make food and experiences that people remember months to years later and serve as the basis for comparison to every burger that comes next, or open the 30th reclaimed-barnwood restaurant in town with a forgettable take on the same pizza made by at least three other Portland spots?

We waited maybe 20 minutes, which seemed totally fair given the care and attention given to making our order. During the wait perused all the license plates on the wall and watched them work the grill. The owner and his wife plus son (?) were all so friendly. Appreciated their giving us a heads up about how big the food would be and not risk over-ordering. We had a a plain hotdog (with fries) and a plain cheeseburger (with fries) and they were both tasty despite the kids ordering literally the most blah things on the menu. You can go to most locations and get the same items with a few unique things to that location. My friend I go to shows with a lot is vegan so we know she can get a solid meal and they're usually open late too since we're food hunting around 10ish. I wasn't familiar with the layout of the grounds and it can be a challenge to get around in the pitch dark. We were coming in 1030pm on a Saturday and it is a venue. Unfortunately, I followed the directions. The powers that be put a huge EXIT ONLY sign at the parking lot entrance. I figured, looking at my GPS, that they were directing traffic to the back of the grounds so that people like us were not met with a bunch of cars coming right at them, trying to get out after the concert since this is also a hotel and restaurants/bars that people stay at or eat/drink at who have nothing to do with the concert. Fast forward a solid 15-20 minutes where my GPS was pointing the way, and I could clearly see where we needed to go... BUT they had a giant fence with padlocks blocking the road meaning that the only road in was the one blocked with the EXIT ONLY sign. So, I backed up and found a tiny service road to come towards that exit sign from the other side - and someone had actually moved the sign, so it wasn't completely blocking the road anymore. I imagine it was from the people trying to get out because the way that the sign had been placed blocked the road from going in or out! I was worried as we got a message from friends we were supposed to meet there saying that they had given up and that the parking lot was a complete disaster area. They said they were not able to find anything even remotely close to the restaurant. My friend got the text as we found the front of the building and I have an ADA tag. I drove right up seeing the entire ADA parking was empty except one other car. Then we were commenting at least they have iron railing to walk up the stairs... but oh wait, there's a ramp! So easy... although I could have done without the different two older people literally stepping on my foot with zero acknowledgement at all. I have a partially disconnected Achilles on that side so thanks for that. At least they didn't step on my cane? The staff were all so lovely... so helpful with our questions and making certain we had everything. I am not a vegan and went for a burger. I'm a huge fan of the dungeon burger... mushrooms & Swiss... and I love a place that asks me how I want my burger cooked - medium please! That grilled flavor is great. And a nice pile of tots. I'm even OK with a steady flow of RC cola. We were pretty surprised at how mellow everything was considering they'd had a major concert. There were a pair of ladies at the bar. I wandered to use the restroom as one was telling the other that she should clearly light that dude on fire as I was passing. Coming out and the tables had turned to talking about the other gals unfortunate dating life. I hope they both dump those dudes - ladies, you are both lovely, ditch the jerks!

It seemed like our server had little to no training or customer service skills. We came in with a small company lunch group of five, and it took over an hour to receive our food. In total, we were there for 2 1/2 hours before we could finally leave. The food was just okay, but the service completely overshadowed it. The location itself is really cool, but unfortunately, the staff and overall experience were not. The managers walked around as if nothing was wrong, even though multiple tables--including ours--were visibly frustrated. We kept looking around in disbelief at how poor the service was and couldn't understand why no one stepped in to help. Here are just a few of the issues we experienced: #1 We weren't given enough silverware. #2 We didn't receive plates for our appetizers. #3 We were charged for a basket of tater tots that we were told would be "on the house" because of the long wait. #4 Our sweet potato fries were forgotten, but we were still charged for them. At that point, we just wanted to leave. #5 Our server disappeared for 20 minutes at a time and rarely checked on us. #6 Several other customers around us also appeared frustrated with the service. #7 Our waters and Sprites were mixed up. #8 Our food orders were delivered to the wrong people. I've always enjoyed McMenamins, but this location was a huge disappointment. I hope management takes a serious look at the level of training, supervision, and customer service at this location because it simply wasn't acceptable.
