Ambiance: 3.5/5 - The bar has a dark and cozy underground vibe. My friends and I went for the Nightcap Before Christmas holiday pop-up, and it was super busy. When you first walk in, it looks pretty crowded and tight, but once you go through an alleyway, there's a bigger space with a stage where you can enjoy your drinks. Service: 4/5 - Even with the busy atmosphere and long lines, the bartenders were very nice and friendly. My only complaint is that there were only two bartenders working on Christmas night, so it took a really long time to get our drinks. Drinks: 3/5 - I was really excited to enjoy my drink in a cute themed cup, but unfortunately, they were all out. They were also out of the milk and cookies drink, which was disappointing. The menu was cute, but the drinks didn't sit well with me personally. Maybe I'm just not a fan of hot alcoholic drinks, but if you like espresso martinis or similar cocktails, you might enjoy the ones we tried: - Silk Top Hat - The Cat's Pajamas From their regular menu, we also ordered Oregon's Mule. It was by far the best drink we had and saved the night for us. Overall, it's a fun spot to check out for the holiday popup but I recommend sticking to their regular menu if you're not a fan of hot drinks or experimenting too much. Personally not my vibe though!

The last time I was here, I left a review telling you about this gem. I left my description, but I felt that it didn't do it justice since I didn't leave pictures. It was once again close to closing time and once again it took the bartender 3 minutes to notice me before he asked me what I'd like to order. It must be a Portland thing. I don't know. I usually sit at the bar but there were 2 young ladies there with their bags taking up the remaining seats. I didn't want to bother them, so I stood there. For 3 minutes. Once I placed my order (Lagavulin 16 year-old) I looked for a really quiet spot and the one I found was as quiet and isolated as you could get- under the stairs that I came in. A quiet, cozy little nook that a new introvert like me could ask for. A small group of people came in and made some quick conversation with me and left for another bar. I paid my tab and left. I felt like I wanted more, but I had to get back to the hotel. I'll be back.

Let me just start off by saying that this is one of the coolest bars I have ever been to. It can be found by going down a steep stairway that leads into a dark underground bar; decorated by Christmas lights & modern pieces, with couches and a sofa at the end of the right hand side of the bar. I essentially did not know what to order, so the bartender on site helped me pick. I asked them if they could recommend a really good cocktail that was on the sweeter side, and they recommended "Rocks by the river" or something like that. I don't quite recall the exact name, but I know it had watermelon juice and decorated with a Tajín rim. This definitely was my favorite cocktail I had had while on vacation in Portland. Overall, this underground speakeasy is such a unique and hidden gem. Everyone must go at least once in their lifetime! Also, our bartender, who I did not get their name, was absolutely phenomenal when it came to making our drinks, and serving my party of 6.

Rad ambiance. Great service. Delicious cocktails. If I was a local I'd frequent this place but as a visitor it was delightful. We got some toddies on a cold rainy day.

Awesome place to eat. All plusses: atmosphere. Service. Friendliness. Quality of food and presentation of food. Amount of employees to keep up with demand. Outdoor seating. Cleanliness. Ambience. No complaints whatsoever!

Very cool, unique find. We were just walking by and saw these stairs down to a bar and thought it looked cool, was it a bar, was it open? My husband went down to check, and it was! He ordered at the bar no problem or waiting, he got an old fashion which looked amazing, I'm pregnant so I got a mocktail - the lavender refresher, which was amazing! This was definitely a place I would frequent if I lived in the area. And it was such a lucky find! 10/10!

First off, how do I even begin to describe this place! Before you walk inside, it almost appears as if you've found a little gem underground and once you're inside, there's even MORE to explore! The walls are decorated with posters from events they've hosted with the performers signatures. The music fit the vibe perfectly that you'll be begging for whoever's playlist is playing! As for the drinks, I ordered a lavender refresher which is a mocktail but is just as good if you're not feeling anything alcoholic. My girlfriend ordered the butterfly effect and the salted caramel bourbon and both times she took her first sips, I could see an instant amazement of how good the drinks tasted! We also tried their jell-o shots which nearly tasted like straight jello treats! The bartender we had was really nice and welcoming. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. There is even a water station next to it. The place is bigger than you think and has wonderful little easter eggs all around! If you're wondering whether or not you should go, GO!

Matt was 10 stars!! He creates such wonderful cocktails and is helpful with dietary restrictions. The wife liked the butterfly and green beans with vegan dip. We'll def be back!

Got to stop in here very quickly for a few drinks. Great place, great atmosphere. Don't plan on parking here though, totally a walk up place. Also depending on the time of day, it is a bit small so seating availability could be a thing.

This place is a great spot for watching a comedy show! The comic line-up on 12/13 was good, we enjoyed our time here.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

But as soon as I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is beautiful, with a stylish central bar that immediately catches your eye. Although they do serve food, I wasn't very hungry, so I decided to just enjoy a couple of drinks. There are a few dining tables inside if you're planning to have a meal as well. The bartender was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with me after I asked for a few recommendations. The drinks were excellent, well-balanced, flavorful, and actually tasted like proper cocktails instead of just juice. They definitely didn't skimp on the alcohol either! I'm really glad I chose this place to celebrate. It ended up being the perfect spot for the occasion.

The room alone almost made it worth my time. The English pea risotto was very good, and the house fries were good. The French-oaked flight I requested was a sad effort. The bartender never asked what distillers I had as options other than indicating that Makers 46 must be what I'm after when I said French oaked and creamy was my vibe, to which I raised an eyebrow and indicated I was ok if he started with that in my flight as a base for comparison. Otherwise he never asked whether I'd like to spend good money on something special (I would have said yes) and later claimed these were the only French-oaked bottles they even had in stock despite a claimed inventory of over 2,000 whiskeys. What arrived: Penelope Architect--nothing at all on the nose, something like wood paneling on the palate. Angel's Envy Triple Oak--tasted just like the Angel's Envy Rum Cask I can get at the supermarket. Maker's 46--the best of those three, yet still quintessentially basic as a wheated French-staved bargain buy, which, by the way, I never indicated I was there for. When I diplomatically indicated my that my flight was totally blasé and asked for one last pour in hopes of redeeming the experience, he brought me a redundant Maker's Heart Series in which the heart was made of mildly chocolate-inspired disappointment. Staff clearly put effort into educating and serving, and the environment is special enough that I hope to return with friends for that alone, even though I was rushed out due to a scheduled reservation needing my unscheduled seat. Ultimately the pours left me with an extremely unimpressive result and a future 0-for-2 that I'd be willing to risk in hopes of their redemption. Exceptionally impressive venue, if totally unimpressive flight curation.
