Giving this place 4 stars. The burger I had was the "The Hangover." By itself it has everything you want: burger, cheese, bacon, an egg, plus all of the fixin's. Took a random trip into Kernville to see lake Isabella and ended up at McNallys. The place has nice outdoor seating right next to the kern river, the food was good juicy burger for sure. Solid burger spot in town. A bit pricey (cheese is an additional cost, no refills on fountain sodas that are 70% ice, 50 cent charge for a small water cup, ranch is $1). For kids or light eaters, go with the 3oz. Fries were good, would skip the onion rings unless you like the tempura battered style. My kids said they liked the $8 smashburgers at Sequoia Bakery better, but overall it hit the spot after our 1/2 day rafting excursion. Ok. First of all.. this is my favorite burger and what i think is the best burger around. Now to the 3 stars. I have been coming here or to the shack for over 20 years and the food is still delicious and the safe is still friendly. But the price has gone crazy. The regular burger is now $12.95. Cheese will be extra as will bacon. And of corse the extra patty. But what the hell. The extea patty is $10 bucks now. We ordered 2 double burgers, one fry and one soda. With a 5 dollar tip our lunch was just under $75.00 Yes I said $75. So with the drive from Bakersfield, that was a $100 lunch in a brown bag. Not like its table service. I will definitely be back and instill suggest going there. Just be ready to pay like your having dinner in a fancy restaurant, but its a burger shop in the mountains. read more

For the middle of kern river not bad at all. We got the burgers which were really good and the peanut butter milkshake which was sooooooo good I was surprised! This place has really good food. It's fresh and tasty. They also have a "salad" option for the burger which was so delicious with lots of veggies! My kids got the tenders and the inside was fresh juicy chicken breasts. The Milkshakes are also good quality and they even have a caramel flavor with caramel syrup all around. 100% recommend :) read more

Our first day in Kernville and we needed a place for a quick lunch with the dogs. McNally's fit the bill. I recommend the smash burger as it's nice and crispy and it flattens out bigger than the bun. And they butter both buns which is extra goodness. My husband also enjoyed his regular 6 oz not smashed burger with all of the goodies. The large fries was more than enough for 2. They also have a dog patty which we declined, but we were grateful for the ice water they put out fresh for the pups. read more

This was recommended by a friend who camps a lot in Kern. It's a small burger joint in the area. Me and the wife both had the mcnally burger. It was perfectly seasoned. Fries has good portion. Their shakes we added malt in it was so good as well. We were 8 in a group and theres three small tables inside. We all fit. Lol. Small but quaint little joint, with a beautiful scenic view and what makes it even better is the great food. We have eaten here multiple times with family and even while out here working in the area. It makes a great lunch spot. Great portions and delicious burgers. Not my favorite style of fry but well cooked and decently seasoned. Hands down one of the better milkshake spots in Kern County, with their must try jalapeño vanilla milkshake. Beware, they only make a few a day, probably depending on how many jalapeños they have on hand but easily one of the most memorable milkshakes I've ever had. Smooth and creamy vanilla matches the nice kick from the jalapeño. It pairs excellently with a burger and fry. A must try spot near the lake, with a beautifully positioned porch/deck seating. Delicious burgers and BLT! The milkshakes are really good too. You can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and Mountain View or take the food to go. Service was really friendly but the poor employee was working alone both running the register and cooking when we went during the afternoon, so it took a while for our food. So glad we chose to come to this place after a long weekend of camping. There was a bit of a line, but it was well worth the wait. It was the first time that I ever bought a $20 hamburger but it did not disappoint- worth every cent. They had shaded places to eat outside . My family and I ended up in the area to charge our EV rental across the street at the Ranger station. We took a walk into the business strip to explore while we waited. I'm SO glad we decided to stop at McNally! The burgers were fantastic. Quality ingredients cooked to perfection. I had the McNally burger with cheddar cheese. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and tasty. The beef was charred well and the bun had the perfect amount of toasted bread to soft bread ratio. I ordered a small side of onion rings, they were enough to fill both my wife and I. We also ordered a small vanilla shake to share and it was delicious, real ice cream. The cashier was the only one working so she had her work cut out taking orders and cooking but she was like an efficient machine. I HIGHLY recommend eating here. Absolutely fantastic! Carlos did a wonderful job preparing two delicious smash burgers (one oozing with egg), chilli (omg the chilli! So much meat and the right amount of heat), beer battered onion rings (the best batter i have had in a while- it was absolutely golden) and two shakes (started with one but the family demanded more- had vanilla with malt and oreos). Haven't been for a while. Seemed like it was hit or miss with the hamburgers. Either too rare or over salted. But when I got a good burger, it was well worth it. I just don't have the money to hope it comes out good. I would never complain and return my food. So I choose to go up river and eat at the original burger stand or wait to go to dinner at their steakhouse. Those are a 5+ for sure! Haven't tried breakfast since it was put on the menu. Service was awful. Red haired lady had the WORST attitude. I saw online an ad for bloody marys. Unfortunately they do not serve these at this location, so a normal person would reply "i'm sorry, we don't carry those here" but rather instead her response was "um what?". She then proceeded to tell me they dont have them. So i proceed with my order. I go inside after receiving my food and asked for two salsas and a ranch. She again met me with attitude, yet again. She then came out and sat on the patio that states "no smoking" and smoked a cigarette right in front of the door. As we were leaving, she looked at me as i was walking down the stairs and made a snide comment which was "smile!". The lady with the red hair is beyond rude and disrespectful to customers. I ordered a BLT sandwich to go. Overall I enjoyed McNally's Outpost. The bread was perfectly toasted and golden brown. Bacon was crunchy. Lettuce was crisp and fresh. Red ripe tomato was warm and the BLT was infused in the perfect amount of melted cheese. All this for only $6 and the sand-which is the perfect size for a quick fill up. Excellent customer service as-well. Lady was friendly and my BLT was prepared quickly. They also offer a small dining section inside and out. Located in a great area and they offer a nice simple menu. I am excited to go back and eventually try a burger. read more
