While I've long been familiar with McNamara Florist, I was wheeling around the Glendale area today and decided to give this location a visit given I knew they'd be all decked out for the holidays. McNamara Florist was started in Indy in 1954 and has eight retail locations in Central Indiana along with a greenhouse/nursery in the Fort Wayne area. Not so long ago, McNamara relocated their main headquarters back to Indy from Fishers. It's now located on the near-eastside of Indy in an area that is definitely getting a sense of renewal. While McNamara is local, it definitely has a national reputation. They offer a variety of flowers, plants, home decor, and delivery options. They were definitely decked out for the holidays with a festive array of decorations, plants, etc. This location is actually on East 62nd Street and it's toward the back of Glendale town Center in the same area as the Huntington Learning Center and Jet's Pizza. Parking is available with accessible options and appropriate curb cuts. I happened to be parked at Target and visited several businesses in this strip center with no difficulty as a wheelchair user. When I arrived, I was the only customer. That changed pretty quickly. Employees were responsive and friendly - a bit hovering but not overwhelming. If I have one beef here, and it's pretty common during the holidays, it's that accessibility definitely was a bit lacking in-store. While I'd imagine they don't get a ton of wheelchair users, I'd think anyone with mobility issues might struggle in here. They have some high-end glass Christmas trees that I was terrified I was going to tip over (I didn't). There were ultimately places I wanted to get to that I simply couldn't. However, I'd say I could get to about 75% of the story without too much difficulty. The store was definitely warm and inviting with a festive spirit and light holiday music in the background. Pricing was clearly marked on nearly every item and while this is what I'd consider to be a more premium florist, it's definitely got stuff in a variety of price ranges. I like that they offer plant and flower subscriptions and McNamara is for sure an Indiana success story when it comes to plants and flowers. I sometimes forget it's here, however, this visit was a solid reminder to consider McNamara the next time I need flowers. read more

My whole family through the years has he McNamara Fors from Indianapolis and we call from wherever we're living at at the time to have them deliver something for us. Their arrangements are exceptional. Their flowers are fresh and absolutely beautiful. Their plants are healthy and full people love them as well as myself. Go to the Glendale shop, it's just wonderful to walk through there. read more

After reading other reviews, I decided upon this place for some special flowers for my sister, who was hospitalized suddenly. The woman who took my order was very patient and overlooked my occasional sobbing. I explained that I have only social security and she directed me to an affordable option that my sister loved. This is the 2nd time I have used McNamara Florist in Indianapolis. Our daughter and husband live there and... as life goes, I remember the event DAY OF!!! McNamara is not only PLEASANT, EFFICIENT, COST EFFECTIVE but TIMELY! Tomorrow is Dr. Appreciation Day and our daughter is far from home and is doing residency in Indy.... My mom lives far away and wanted to send me some cheer. She sent flowers from McNamara and they were gorgeous. It was such a nice surprise. They're still doing great 4 days later. My only complaint is that my mom said they would not leave them outside if I wasn't home (as it's winter, February), but they did leave them outside while I was at work. read more

I believe that McNamara Florist's website has been hacked. McNamara Florist is aware of this but has not advised its customers of the dangers associated with ordering from its website. A friend placed a floral order and her payment info was diverted via the hacker to an unauthorized website. Eventually, my friend was notified of a $6500 extraction attempt from her bank account. Fortunately, her bank was fully on fraud-alert and shut down the attempt. McNamara has not taken ownership and has not shut down its online purchasing function, while being fully aware of the ongoing hack. read more

She said he carried the flowers in for her because it was too heavy for her to carry. I am so happy with how they treated our grandma and that they were so sweet to her. I needed flowers for a friend who was in the hospital and turned to Yelp to locate a Florist as I wanted more than what Sam's club offered. Wow, what a surprise! Indianapolis has a first class operation for the walk-in customer. I noted one reviewer was less than thrilled with the website interaction which I'm sure can be addressed. The level of service I received having walked in was impressive and very helpful. I was also overwhelmed by the lavish displays in the shop. I have no doubt that their flowers are great. However, this morning they called me three times in a row at 6:49 am to ask if I was going to order anything from them. When I explained that I was on the west coast and it was very early, the person on the phone said that she called repeatedly because it would only ring once and then go to voicemail. That was because I kept pressing decline call!! Because of this persistent marketing, I am unlikely to purchase anything from here ever again. Again, I'm sure they have great flowers but I think their efforts to solicit business are a little extreme. EDIT: changed review from 1 star to 4 stars because (1) I like that they quickly responded and said they will put measures in place so that it doesn't happen again and (2) I think I remember that the gift order I previously made with this business was well received. This floral shop is gorgeous. Let's just say that to begin with. It also is HUGE. At first take for a not so advanced geeen thumb but if you take your time around the store there are some great finds. I was surprised there were more artificial decorative flowers than real ones but you can order some for delivery. Purchased a cute planter pot and some air plants. read more

Living in New York City, it's always a challenge having flowers delivered to friends and family in Indianapolis on the weekends, especially Sundays, when delivery is typically not available (Mother's Day, holidays, etc.) Today (a Sunday) I discovered at noon that a dear friend's grandmother had passed away, and that the viewing would be from 2 to 6 pm (in just a few hours). I called McNamara, and spoke with a florist named Michelle. She explained that there is unfortunately no delivery service on Sundays for same day orders (for orders placed in advance they can use a delivery service), but because the store wasn't presently full, she would personally drive the flowers to the funeral home in time for the viewing. In New York City, you can get breathtaking floral arrangements on almost every street corner, sometimes even affordably. But service like this is unheard of, and will make me go to McNamara in the future for any of my Indianapolis floral needs. With so much kindness, she talked me through price points and floral arrangements, personalized a card for me, and the transaction was processed immediately, at no extra cost for her personal service. Flowers, cards, and balloons can be bought. Top notch service like I received today doesn't have a price tag. Thank you, Michelle and McNamara, for helping me send my love to a dear family to me from several states away. read more

I am really disappointed in the service for my last order. I was very specific about what I needed and when I needed to make a change in the delivery time I was told that it would not be an issue and they would be happy to do so. Well, in the end they delivered at the original time even when they assured me that it had been adjusted. Their flowers are great but the recent service experience has turned me off of using them again. When I called them to find out why they delivered them when I asked them to adjust the time, they didn't have a reason and asked didn't seem to really see the issue with what they did. As many of you know, timing is of the essence and this promise to me that the date/time was fixed and I had nothing to worry about, I took them for their word and found out that they cannot follow through on what they said. Very disappointed with this experience this time. EDIT: After my review I was contacted by the company and eventually spoke to the owner. It was an honest mistake by the delivery driver who had printed out the day's run earlier that day and did not realize that I had asked for the order to be delayed. While this doesn't fix the issue itself, they did apologize for the mistake and made it better in the end. I do appreciate them reaching out and trying to do what they could to fix the problem. read more

McNamera saved the day for me! I bought a Corsage and boutonniere for my dear mother and father- in -law's 50 th wedding anniversary celebration. Picked it up from a store I won't mention but it was unacceptable! I promptly called mcNamera 1.5 hours before the event and the kind lady designed a masterpiece out of them! I plead with florists like McNamara to get off the kick of mixing incompatible colors of flowers. I had to make four small arrangement out of the bundle because I could not stand to look at peach, hot pink, purple, red and orange in one bouquet. Very disappointing to say the least. Some dear friends sent a floral planter as an act of kindness and sympathy. The driver dropped the delivery outdoors on a windy day, without a phone call. I arrived home to find it knocked over in the wind and damaged. I called and made arrangements for a replacement to be sent the following day at my neighbors. I was assured that the driver would contact my neighbor. I left neighbor's phone number as well as mine. Once again, NO PHONE CALL from driver. The planter was left outside, again, and again the flowers were wilted and looked terrible. I was also told it would be the exact same arrangement as the original. It was not. I called McNamara's numerous times, spoke with customer service, was told a manager would call me regarding poor delivery service and damaged goods. No response whatsoever! Left a message on a manager's voicemail. Left a message with their after hours answering service. No response. Left a message on their website. No response. They obviously don't care! Poor delivery service with drivers that are too careless and lazy to call. Why on earth would you leave plants/flowers outdoors without notifying the recipient??? Not one, but two days in a row. Poor management follow up. They don't care. I would NOT trust them with your delivery. Period. Perhaps this review will get their attention since all of my other attempts did not. read more
