I came here for drinks one evening and had a great time! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spacious Korean pub is a great spot to hang out with friends and grab some food/a late night drink.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I was here, I didn't get any of their food but I did they their house honey makgeolli and really loved it! Would love to come back and try other drinks + food sometime!
I'm just old or something (mid -forties) because I don't enjoy ordering my food on a pad and getting no level of service. If you have an establishment that requires you to order on a pad, there still should be some level on customer service. There were like 9 employees behind the bar hanging out and talking and no one ever checked in on us, asked if we had any questions about the menu. I had to call a server on the pad to get some napkins, get a fork, get boxes, get the check... I just don't enjoy that and the food is MEH for the price. They just come ", drop off food, no smile, no nothing like waiter robots. One and done for us.
Finally got to try after months of hearing about it-l (+) parking lot, order system on tablet on table so don't have to wait to order (-) average food Interesting vibe- kind of like Club-y with sofa seats. But interesting. The prices are average to slightly high, drinks are alright but the rose tteokbokki was average. We didn't finish it. I'd like to come back to try some other items.

More "upscale" than typical Korean Izakayas (think lowkey lounge vibes) it's a pretty spacious place so it's perfect for dates, get togethers with friends, etc. They also do a pretty big birthday celebration if that's your thing My favorites here are the truffle pasta, the crab pasta, and the loaded Doritos nachos new ownership updated the menu so I can't wait to go back and try the mala tang and sexy yama choo steak!
Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday on a Monday evening and it was surprisingly good! We ordered 3 dishes (pasta, shrimp fondue, jjampong) and they were all delicious. I love cheese so obviously my favorite was the shrimp fondue: heavy in fat and sauce, just the way I like it. The pasta was flavorful, as was the jjampong. Service was great: they were quick and fast with our requests. I've never been here on the weekend, so can't comment on how the vibes are. It's perfect for a low key dinner on a week night, however, with plenty of seating inside.
1943 Classic is a pocha franchise originally from Korea that opened a location in Annandale. It's known to have a more high-end interior and tasty food options that my friends have hyped up recently. To note, my review for this place is for the food and vibes, not the drinks. My friend and I were able to order a couple things we wanted to try through a tablet that's available at every single table which made our experience even more convenient. CORN CHEESE - 7.99 Quite possibly one of the worst corn cheeses I've ever eaten, and I thought you can't mess up corn cheese. The mozzarella cheese draped on top of the corn with pieces of chopped onion mixed in, but the corn kernels were scattered loosely across the plate. It lacked the cheese/mayo mixture that usually binds them together. It lacked the typical creaminess, and we weren't impressed. If this is the norm, I wouldn't recommend the corn cheese here. ROSE PASTA CHICKEN - 17.99 The rose pasta chicken is one of their more popular dishes and we can see why. Each order comes with three slices toasted baguette, three pieces of boneless fried chicken, a massive amount of spaghetti (topped with melted mozzarella and swimming in a bed of rose sauce. The pasta was on the softer side that soaked up the creamy, rich rose sauce that savory and sweet from the tomatoes. They have "chicken" in the name of the dish, but there was barely any chicken! Overall, this was good, but nothing to die for. If I come back, I'll try other food options or get a drink or two so the food tastes better. They also have a Harufilm booth near the exit, so my friend and I took some photos there. There are no props in the room. We paid 10.00 for two photo strips, which is pretty pricy. Nonetheless, they make good souvenirs and we had a fun time.
A classy vibe bar restaurant that is great for chilling and hanging out with friends! I really loved their truffle fries! All of their shareable plates are quite good, anything that you get will probably be good. The somaek tower was fun to share as a large group. Even despite not being a huge beer person, the soju + Terra beer combination is super smooth! I really enjoyed it. The service was good -- food came in a timely manner and ordering was super easy on the tablet at the table.
Had a confirmed reservation and they canceled my reservation the night before so I attempted to reply to the message however it wouldn't go through so I called them and when I asked to speak to the manager/owner initially she refused to speak to me. I explained multiple times that I was calling regarding my reservation when I finally spoke to the manager I told her my reservation was confirmed almost week in advance and they are just now canceling it saying they had technical issue with yelp! B.S. So I asked if I could be accommodated for the inconvenience and they told me no.

However, just a heads up, the Nagasaki jjamppong soup is only soup, with no noodles, which was a bit confusing since "jjamppong" usually implies noodles. Not to mention, it was $19.99, which felt overpriced for what it was. We also ordered drinks, and while they were decent, they were definitely on the expensive side. The highlight of the night was the shrimp fondue. My friend and I really enjoyed it, and the sauce was especially delicious. One downside was the service. Everything is ordered through an iPad, and the staff is mainly there to drop off food.
Expected a nice classy restaurant but it's more of a loud sit down night bar. First encounter when walking through the door we had vape smoke blown in our faces by some random guy. Already unimpressed. Secondly the music was so loud right above our heads we couldn't even talk to each other. Third we sat for a table of 3 people only to keep being given two of everything... two water cups, two spoons, two plates... they finally got it right after we told them we needed a third plate. The iPad is sometimes useless when making requests...we asked for a 3rd water right after sitting because we only received two water cups and that was never served. We ended up just asking a waiter walking by because it took too long. Food was okay. Honestly it's quick food for drinking culture, but highly priced. The rose tteokbokki was harder than I'd like, probably frozen, even the hotdogs in it wasn't good. Just not great. I did however enjoy the takoyaki as it was crispy and hot. It was really good with the rose sauce though. As for the seafood jampong it doesn't come with any noodles so we ordered a separate side of guksoo noodles but even that took forever to come out. We basically finished it by the time the noodles even arrived. The jampong broth basically tasted like shin ramen broth and the mussels were definitely frozen. Overall it's more like quick made foods for the high price and vibes. Very loud and dark. Great for drinking culture but if you want a nice and not too loud place to sit and dine this is not it.

To order food, you need to use the tablet for everything. At first, I thought it was convenient until it took 15-20 minutes to reach a server after requesting it on the tablet twice. Tablet or not, they rarely check up on you. The appetizers tasted like it was from the freezer. The "truffle" sauce for the fries was overly sweet and unbearable. I cannot believe they charged twice the price ($12.99) compared to regular fries ($6.99). I ordered the stir fry volcano, thinking it wouldn't be too spicy, since there was a "mild option." The food didn't have a description, so I asked the server what it is. It's rice cake and sausages, but he didn't tell me that there were jalapenos there. This was definitely overpriced for what I got. It's still spicy for those who are sensitive. The truffle shrimp cream pasta was actually decent. My only complaint was that it was too sweet, which does not go with cheesy pasta. Very slow service, overpriced food, might as well go to a breakfast diner.

Came here on a Tuesday night with my boyfriend after seeing an amazing promotion for unlimited appetizers and discounted drinks on Instagram. I'm so glad I stopped by! The vibe in here is super chill and fun. Great for a group of friends. We tried the cheese sticks, fried dumplings, spicy shrimp fondue, and strawberry makgeolli. Everything is so delicious!! Especially the shrimp fondue - it has a delicious smoky taste and is a good level of spice. The makgeolli is like a slushie, really refreshing and not too strong. Service was very friendly, they came immediately every time we pressed the call service button on our tablet. Even with all the free things we got they were so nice to us. Will definitely be back to try more things. read more
I went here with friends after parkour and I absolutely loved the comfy-cozy-fancy-yet-chill ambiance. It's the kind of place you can lounge and slowly drink and graze food with friends with, while chatting or watching K-Pop, you could go on a date here, girls night, guys night, anything. It was absolutely wonderful. The service was wonderful too. We all hated the first bottle of soju, and the waiter quickly suggested a different one and switched it out for us. We got all the stars of the show: shrimp fondu, penne chicken pasta, and Oreo Bingsoo, plus a bonus dish of chicken. This is such a great place to go with a group and just chill and enjoy each other's company. read more

Had a double date with some of my friends at this new Korean spot. They have a wide selection of Korean bar food and drinks. We ended up ordering a variety things to try and it was all really good! Our favorites from the night were the Rose Pasta Chicken (slight sweet and tangy with al dente noodles) and the Tonkatsu (thin crispy battered pork that was very juicy). Drinks were also a very good portion. Great spot to chill with friends and have some good food and drinks. I gotta be honest 1943 didn't hit for me. To be completely fair after visiting I realized this is the type of place where drinking and dancing probably come first and the food is just an accessory. If I had come slightly tipsy and continued to drink and party while consuming I'm sure everything would have hit harder. That being said I went there in the middle of the afternoon with some friends stone cold sober LOL When we were there there was something wrong with their POS system so our order didn't go through. We didn't realize until someone came up to presumably ask us what was up and why didn't we order anything. We ended up just putting our order in with the server. We were waiting a while for food bc of all this which wasn't their fault at all. We noticed on the table there's a note saying to dm their instagram with song requests. We were bored so I hopped on and did just that. Unfortunately no one ever replied to me or acknowledged it or anything so that was kind of rude. Better to just not advertise it imo. When the food came out we were soooo hungry so the first bites were great! After I came down from my hunger I realized I didn't really enjoy anything we were eating. The shrimp fondue got overcooked as it was on a super hot griddle. The chicken dish we got had a really strange flavor and tasted microwaved somehow. Out of them all I liked the pasta dish best but even that was feeling sad after the initial high of eating fresh food. To be completely honest this place isn't really my vibe nor is it for me. The mala tang here is worth its value. Like a spicy hot pot with meats and sweet potato noodles and veggies that can feed 3 mouths. Under $25. Came for dinner around 7 but would be a great place for late night vibes with friends. It's a good meet up spot with really nice interior and couches. It seems pretty new (think it opened summer 2024) and is named after the year Korea got its independence. Lots of Korean street food, buldak, rose pasta/tteokbokki options. The buldak takoyaki was nothing special, but it is exactly what you would think (original spicy buldak ramen noodles and 10 takoyaki octopus balls). Your mouth will feel like it's on fire. read more

I had a few errands in the area and decided to try this place out. I have seen it a few times but didn't have time to try. The first thing I noticed is how nice the place is. It's definitely have that lounge look. It wasn't busy when I checked in so I got the booth. I guess the server there assume I'm a regular so he didn't explain anything. There's an iPad there so I just assume to order from there. With a large selection I decided to order Ross Chicken Pasta and Busan Skewer Fish Cake Soup. I remember seeing people eating this in the Kdrama I watch. Food - either I'm very lucky or the food here is very good. Both of my orders are very good. I can't eat too spicy so I'm glad that have options for spice level. Mine came out perfect which is mild Service - All I get is the greet and then seat. Then water is dropped off and then the food. So I guess it's ok, not great. Ambience - it's a beautiful place. I really love the decorations here. I will definitely come back again to try other food. read more

Great food and atmosphere. The rose pasta was our group's favorite dish, but everything was good. The prices for food and drinks here are also pretty reasonable compared to other pochas nearby. Came with a group of 4 on a Thursday night, good place to hang out with friends or as a date spot. It got quite busy towards the end of the night but there wasn't any wait for a table. read more
I saw this place being recommended online so me and some friends decided to come check it out! The interior is really nice and moody and sets a great tone for having conversation with friends or for a date night. You get to order on a iPad to service is easy and fast. The cocktails are really nice and fruity where they almost taste like juice. I almost doubted the alcohol content until I felt it hit me. Definitely recommend the earl grey highball. The prices are pretty good considering the area and the portions are quite large, we did family style so we could try everything. High recommend the jamppong! It comes with such a good variety of seafood and the broth becomes so flavorful after cooking at the table for a bit! read more

A trendy place with a lounge vibe. There are couches and tables with a nice chandelier decoration upon entry. We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday and there were plenty of tables available, but all the couches were occupied. By 9pm, the place was packed as there were some large celebration parties. The pricing was great and not over priced. Beers were $5-10 and each dish was $10-30. They had their own private parking and could be limited during busy times. Food here is acc really good. Modern korean comfort food that seems very trendy and is actually yummy too. Just the portion sizes are a bit smaller than I'd like given the price. Would've loved for more shareable portions with big groups, because everyone only got like a small bite of each dish. But still good nonetheless. Cocktails are also very yummy! Pricier side for alcohol but it's ok :/ Price is a bit on the higher side but for the ambience of the restaurant and the quality I think it would be worth it. We had a birthday and brought a cake to the staff earlier. Then they brought out the cake with some cool sparkler candles and clapped with a song, super cute. Would recommend coming for celebrations! Parking was kinda annoying. Make sure not to park in the honey pig lot. Another Korean restaurant in Annandale? Sure, why not. The 1943 Classic is exactly the kind of place to go to after a night of carousing with your friends. The food is standard Korean street food and there is a large bar with all kinds of drink options. The cheese rose tteokbokki was standard, with cheese sprinkled on top - gooey enough, but not too spicy, and the egg & cheese japaghetti noodles hit all the notes. The kimchi pancakes were thick and doughy. If you're wandering around after a night on the town and looking for some Korean street food, 1943 Classic might be the place for you. read more
So definitely not what you expect outside looking in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar like atmosphere is very chill, from the music to the seating. Pick a comfy couch with a table or regular comfortable seats at a table (equally comfortable). The lighting low and all good vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was delicious we forgot to take pictures, but the kimchi pancake (kimchi jeon) the Korean fried chicken and the bulgolgi quesadilla were all delicious. We like Korean better than anything else so we had Krush with honey do soju aka (somaek) the two were great together. The staff was awesome, and very chill (if you need constant attention from your server this is not the place for you, honestly). We loved the service, food and drinks came out in a reasonable time. I also had the Hechi (cocktail) it was delicious. Ordering isn't them coming to ask but an electronic screen with the full menu with pictures so very easy to order. I've been to this pocha 2 times. The first time I went was right after they opened and everything was a bit hectic. Our waiters kept getting the order wrong / they added dishes we hadn't ordered to the final receipt. Kindly, they decided to put everything on the house. The second time I visited 1943 was a month after they opened-- by then, everything was running smoothly. In terms of the food, I really liked the shrimp dish and soup dishes. The ambiance is pretty casual-- I saw a lot of families and friend groups. read more

We went for dinner on a Friday night and it was about 2/3 full around 7:30. By the time we left around 9:30 the entire place was packed with people waiting outside. The setup of 1943 reminds me of the old Ahra, down to the happy birthday corrale. Seats range from traditional chairs to couches, although the couch seating is a bit far from the tables. Food and drinks are ordered through a tablet on the table. We tried several of the dishes and food was delivered fairly efficiently. Everything we tried was surprisingly quite good. Don't expect super authentic but again everything had great flavor. The downside is the parking situation. There are not nearly enough parking spots for how large the restaurant is - you may end up circling for a long time and end up having to park across the street. Secondly, it is very loud so you end up having to shout. read more

Really enjoyed our visit to 1943 Restaurant! We ordered a spicy soup without realizing how hot it would be, and it was a bit too much for us. When we mentioned it to our server, he was super understanding and immediately brought us some bone broth to mix in. It completely balanced the flavor and made the soup so delicious. read more
