Wow, what a quaint British pub in the middle of Vienna. Parking is a little tight for this area, but you can definitely find some spots in the back on a weekday. I ended up biking and there's a bike stand really close by. My friend was craving fish and chips, so we ventured out this way. Because we came on a Thursday they had a deal going where if you ordered a pie, you could get a beer for free. Of course I had to partake, so I ordered the special pie, which was a masala, chicken, curry pie, and it was quite good. A bit small for the price point but with the beer included totally worth it also because their fries are so good. I could demolish over a pound of those fries. They were thick potato and maybe the extra added bonus of having to use a glass ketchup bottle added to it. My friend and I were also taught how to properly hit the ketchup bottle to get the ketchup out by the bartender. You find the 57 on the bottle at an angle and bump you palm there that instead of hitting the bottom and hoping and praying that ketchup comes out. It actually worked or at least it was more efficient than trying to hit the bottom of the bottle upside down. I had never had a hand pumped beer before, but it was quite good. It's perfectly balanced if you want something more lowkey than a typical sports bar, but they have plenty of TVs on every wall if you're still trying to catch a game. The staff is always super friendly too! If you're looking for something a little different to try, they have special events going on throughout the month. Wednesday night is always Trivia Night, and they frequently have live music courtesy of The Loudoun Irish Players. If you're going to a British pub you're obviously going to want to try the fish and chips, and this is the perfect spot for it. The batter is super crispy but not overly greasy at all, and the fish is so high quality and flavorful that you really only need a squeeze of lemon over the top. My table also tried the Reuben which was a big hit, and came absolutely piled with a mountain of fries. Review for the happy hour. The french onion soup special is great, so is the welsh rarebit. Website displays happy hour spring summer menu from last year, they are still serving the winter fall menu (see picture). Cocktails: Hawk of Light--3/5--cardamom is nice at first but the drink gets sickly sweet after a few sips. Grand Exhibition--hits the mark, rye and bitters shine through. I've watched this place develop over the years and it's great. They now have spring/summer cocktails for those of us who don't like beer. The fish is very good sized and consistently good. Finally got around to going to this place and this is an english pub experience. All the other pubs I have been to the area has been lacking since this one has a lot of the food sourced locally to make in house and tons of great beer options. They are also the only place I have seen that has a tea service. The fish and chips were good even though two fried foods together is a lot. I tried the chana masla and I have to assume the chicken would have been better. I would go back to try more of their foods. I don't know why it took our family so long to visit Hawk & Griffin, but now that we have experienced the jovial atmosphere and great food, I know that we will be back soon! Was sharing with my son so got an extra side of sausage (3), bacon (2) & eggs (2) scrambled. That was like an extra $10 which was fine. I might have ordered too much but safe to say we had a take away box. The eggs were all perfectly cooked as well as the delicious sausage & mushrooms. The bacon could have been cooked a little more as well as the potatoes. They didn't taste like Idaho potatoes. A bit odd tasting. Beans were flavorless but I know it came out of a can from Heinz. The black pudding was surprisingly good. A little spice to it. Not spicy hot but flavorful spice. No hint of blood or anything wierd. The toast was good too! I saw a video on TikTok and set my mind to visit the place. It is one of the coziest places that I have visited and it's very clean. I love all those soccer/football related stuff and the TVs dialed into soccer games. Let's get to the most important reason to visit Hawk and Griffin. The food was amazing. I enjoyed that Fish and Chip so much that I burned my tongue and didn't mind. The fries/chips was really, really tasty too, but I'm glad we got one of the fries swapped for salad. Dessert was another beast was very delicious and it came with a very beautiful presentation. We had a light Pilsner with the fish and chip and it was a good pairing however, I wish they had a better selection of beers. The bathrooms were pleasantly clean. Three of us arrived around 9:45am on a Saturday to catch the arsenal/everton game. They already had a few people inside, and throughout our stay to watch the game the pub became quite crowded with people there watching various soccer games. It definitely has a nice homey pub feel inside with the dark wood, stained glass, etc. We were seated super quickly, basically just allowed to pick wherever we wanted to sit so we could get a good view of the tv for the game we wanted to watch. Our server was incredibly friendly, quick at first, but when it became super busy we did have to flag him down. This is a fun environment, and definitely recommend for premier league games. I ordered the bacon and egg butty with cheese, which was okay. The bun was cold to the touch, which felt odd for a warm breakfast sandwich. I did have my friends potatoes which were cooked well with light seasoning. I would come back, but more likely order something different for breakfast or maybe try back for dinner. Everything was crispy (fish and chips) and the fries were good. The chicken salad on the coronation salad was tasty. I liked the oggies as well. It just feels really heavy, but the selection is very large including the drinks. So, if you are hungry, this is a good place to go, with reasonable prices, etc. The service was EXTREMELY slow, the server basically forgot about us and we had to go inside to go find him. But we were thankful the server was very nice and he gave us Oggies on the house, which is always nice, otherwise I would have given them 3 stars. We both ordered the "half Monty" which was a lot of food (i.e., one egg, English bacon, two sausages(?), potatoes, beans and toast). (We now know we could not finish a "Full Monty". The coffee was hot and good and with free refills. The Premier League game was on; so this felt like a quick trip the London for the time we were in the pub.
