We didn't try any food, but the happy hour deals and weekly deals seem really good. (I popped in on a Monday to the place being PACKED for the World Cup game and wing night.) Seasoned popcorn is complimentary. The drinks were delicious. The service was speedy--staff noticed when drinks were running low and asked if we wanted a refill before we were completely empty. Wanted a break from the usual chain spots like Chipotle, Panera, and Chopt, so my colleague and I decided to take a drive up Wilson Blvd to see what we could find. As we passed Nettie's Tavern, we noticed a sign advertising $5 burgers on Wednesdays, absolute perfect timing since it was Wednesday, we had to check it out. When we walked in, it was clear we weren't the only ones with that idea--the place was lively and packed. There was a short wait for tables, but we got lucky and snagged two seats at the bar. We both ordered the $5 burger and a side of fries. The burger could have used a bit more seasoning, but it was cooked perfectly, which definitely made up for it. Overall, this is a great find for an affordable lunch option (at least on Wednesdays). The energy was fun, the deal is hard to beat, and we'll definitely be back. read more

Came here on a Thursday night and we did not need a reservation. Lots of good sandwich options- we tried the burra della, short rib grilled cheese, and netties melt all of which were solid options. The free popcorn was also a fun touch. There was $6 draft prosecco which we loved and everything was a decent price. Happy hour ends at 6. Obe complaint is that everything echoed so it was so loud. This is a newer addition to the Clarendon restaurant scene. There's nothing entirely over the top about the venue, it features checker patterned floors, wooden decor, and a large two sided bar with plenty of TV's above it. I stopped in during their Sunday brunch hours, it was a decent scene but not terribly packed. The server was timely and polite and provided some solid recommendations. They also offer free seasoned popcorn while you wait for your actual meal. Their brunch menu features starters like venison meatballs, steak and cheese pinwheels, and tallow fries, several soup and salad options, pizzas like hot honey pepperoni and white truffle mushroom, and entrees like tiramisu French toast, steak and eggs, and a breakfast pasta (prices ranging from $13-$24). They also offer a special on drinks where Bellinis are $2 per glass. I decided on trying out the chicken parmigiana sandwich with fries and a couple of the Bellinis which come in a wide variety of flavors (strawberry, peach, apple, etc.) and the pours were hefty as well for that price point. The chicken parm was excellent: sandwich shop quality, large portion size, and the chicken was breaded nicely and very cheesy. The fries could have been a bit better they were a little soggy for my liking but all in all a very good brunch meal and I definitely recommend checking them out when can. read more

Solidly OK. Paid about $160 (with tip) for four beers, four entrees, and two appetizers. Ordered the beef tallow fries, the venison meatballs, Sam's seasonal (Oktoberfest), and a patty melt with a side salad. The tomato sauce is real sweet, you get two meatballs and three small slices of bread. I was excited about the venison and it was moist and well constructed. The basket of fries was loaded, but they were fairly limp with lots of potato skin. The patty melt was the major disappointment - super dry, no sauce, and not very melty for a patty melt. Thousand Island or the like was nowhere to be found... It was thinly smashed beef, lots of onions, and cheese on sourdough bread. I'm all for supporting a purist, but it was uncomfortably dry and bland. Really wish I had sauce. Other orders included the pepperoni flatbread, chicken parm sando (could've benefited from more sauce), and the grilled cheese which came with au jus. The beers were good and the pours were generous. Staff was attentive and kind. Lots of country music and football on the screens. It's an awesome spot with a great location, I just wish the food was better. Came here for the chicken cutlet Caesar salad salad and it did not disappoint! First of all the size of the chicken cutlet is massive with a heaping mound of lettuce on top! For the price this meal will definitely fill you up and it is a good meal to split along with an appetizer. Service was good and quick flavor was good in the food. The salad could've used a little less dressing but I think that's a personal preference more than the restaurant. I would definitely come back here to try other menu items. read more

I'm not sure what this place wants to be. It calls itself a tavern, but without the warmth and charm that a place with "tavern" in its name brings to mind. With several TV screens spread around, it might be a sports bar, but it doesn't feel like that either. That said, it's spacious and clean with lots of seating, including a decent-sized bar. We stopped by for their happy hour. While it seemed bare bones, it worked out well because I ordered the right things. The beverage choices are wine, whiskey, or beer for $5. Wines are never a good idea at these kinds of places. The whiskey was Old Crow, which is as far from a sipping whiskey as you can get. So, beer it was. That turned out to be great! Sierra Nevada served in a very large, very frosty mug. The food option was their pepperoni rolls, also for $5. For that, you get two large "rolls," each the size of a sandwich, with flaky, crispy outsides and cheesy, pepperoni-filled innards. For $10, it amounted to an enjoyable and filling late lunch. read more

Really friendly sweet service from Candy!! My friend spilled an entire beer on herself by accident and they were really nice about it - refilled it, checked on her, switched our tables. Their happy hour deals are great. We took advantage of the $5 pepperoni rolls and $5 draft beers (before 6pm). There was a little confusion about the prices of it at first, so the server had to check with the manager - but they figured it out in the end. The pepperoni rolls are a must get! Especially for $5. They're super yummy and quite filling. The marinara it came with was also delish. After 6pm we ordered a $5 bucket of bud lites - it came with 5 cans in it! That's a Monday only deal. We also tried their tallow fries which came with a yummy truffle aioli. And we loved their complimentary popcorn. All in all, a cute space! I've stopped here a couple times now to split a quick dinner with friends and have been impressed by our meals both times! The first time I had the short rib grilled cheese which was so delicious, and the second time I had the chicken cutlet Caesar salad. I eat a lot of Caesar salads but this is one of the best I've had! I want to come back on a normal night so I can sit down and get my own meal because I can't say what the service is like yet but I'll definitely be returning. Aaron our server was wonderful and attentive. The Ginger Jar margarita is nothing special and tastes like a cheap sour mix. However, the food was absolutely delicious - pepperoni rolls are a must try! They are perfect for two people to share. The short rib grilled cheese was also delicious and a large portion. We also tried the $5 burger deal and that is one of the best deals I have seen in the Arlington area. Large burgers with all of the fixings and fries on the side. My advice would be to put the same effort into the cocktails as you put into the food - or shorten the list of "signature cocktails" and focus on quality over quantity. Stopped by Nettie's Tavern again for dinner with some friends and had a much better experience this time. We ordered a mix of dishes - salads, a burger, pasta, and the French onion soup and everything was excellent. The food quality really stood out, especially the soup, which was rich and flavorful. Service was also much improved; our server was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. One thing that we had issues with this and last time though was the water. Not sure if its what they are washing the mugs in or just thr water in general but it has a strange taste almost minty in a way. Regardless of that this was overall, a great turnaround from our last visit, and we all left happy read more

I am glad this spot is getting foot traffic but they still have a few small kinks to work out. It was absolutely packed a on a Friday night so get a reservation if you really want to eat here. Service was really hit or miss- we had one hostess literally want to take all our menus before we even ordered mains while another was super sweet. Our waiter was good but obviously got overwelmed with the amount of people at one point, disappearing before we could order a second round or get our forgotten water with a straw. Do not come here if you are in a big hurry or don't like loud spots - it's definitely a crowded, chaotic spot. For drinks we ordered some wine, beer, and the Netties spritz cocktail and the tea one. The cocktails here that we tried were decent, I would pass on the spritz but you felt the alcohol in the Netties tea. For apps we got the pepperoni roll, ricotta toast, and the mozz squares - do not pass up the pepperoni roll. Both the bread portion and the pepperoni ratio was fantastic, really reminded me of a WVU game. The mozz squares were food and quite large and the ricotta toast was ok - not bad but nothing special. For our mains, we all went with something different. We got the patty melt, the drunken ribeye, the spicy vodka rigatoni, and the almost cheesesteak like sandwich. Meal portions are quite large and we loved the fries that came with most of the meals. My spicy rigatoni was tasty but had zero spice like at all. The truffle on the steak sandwich was a fun addition and my husband loved the cab sauce on top of the drunken ribeye. At the end of the meal, prices were decent, and we ended up with the peanut butter pie which was tasty but not sure if it's homemade or comes frozen. No birthday candles to celebrate a birthday but food was decent, just hoping service levels out. read more

Came for lunch when it was noticeably not busy and had the worst service. Took half an hour just for someone to greet us and bring us water. Water was asked for at least 3 times. 2 people at the table asked for coffee, both were brought just a cup of black coffee with no sugar or milk, when they asked for it, were brought just a full cup of milk. One of these coffees came probably 15 minutes after repeatedly asking for it. Food came, and we asked for extra napkins which we never received. My boyfriend ordered the tavern breakfast which involves 2 choices (eggs, meat) and he wasn't asked what he wanted, or given an opportunity to tell him so that was a total surprise when it came. I got a side of fries that ended up having a huge hair in it. Boyfriend had to ask for hot sauce probably 3 times before some came. All around terrible experience - won't be coming back. read more

Loved this place when we first visited but last time service was very slow at the bar, weren't offered any popcorn, had to ask for it. We also weren't given a receipt until we had asked for one.
