This is a newer addition to the Clarendon restaurant scene. There's nothing entirely over the top about the venue, it features checker patterned floors, wooden decor, and a large two sided bar with plenty of TV's above it. I stopped in during their Sunday brunch hours, it was a decent scene but not terribly packed. The server was timely and polite and provided some solid recommendations. They also offer free seasoned popcorn while you wait for your actual meal. Their brunch menu features starters like venison meatballs, steak and cheese pinwheels, and tallow fries, several soup and salad options, pizzas like hot honey pepperoni and white truffle mushroom, and entrees like tiramisu French toast, steak and eggs, and a breakfast pasta (prices ranging from $13-$24). They also offer a special on drinks where Bellinis are $2 per glass. I decided on trying out the chicken parmigiana sandwich with fries and a couple of the Bellinis which come in a wide variety of flavors (strawberry, peach, apple, etc.) and the pours were hefty as well for that price point. The chicken parm was excellent: sandwich shop quality, large portion size, and the chicken was breaded nicely and very cheesy. The fries could have been a bit better they were a little soggy for my liking but all in all a very good brunch meal and I definitely recommend checking them out when can.

Came here on a Thursday night and we did not need a reservation. Lots of good sandwich options- we tried the burra della, short rib grilled cheese, and netties melt all of which were solid options. The free popcorn was also a fun touch. There was $6 draft prosecco which we loved and everything was a decent price. Happy hour ends at 6. Obe complaint is that everything echoed so it was so loud. Our waitress also never gave us a receipt or copy of the bill which made splitting the bill afterwards difficult

    Chicken Cutlet Caesar Salad

Came here for the chicken cutlet Caesar salad salad and it did not disappoint! First of all the size of the chicken cutlet is massive with a heaping mound of lettuce on top! For the price this meal will definitely fill you up and it is a good meal to split along with an appetizer. Service was good and quick flavor was good in the food. The salad could've used a little less dressing but I think that's a personal preference more than the restaurant. I would definitely come back here to try other menu items.

Solidly OK. Paid about $160 (with tip) for four beers, four entrees, and two appetizers. Ordered the beef tallow fries, the venison meatballs, Sam's seasonal (Oktoberfest), and a patty melt with a side salad. The tomato sauce is real sweet, you get two meatballs and three small slices of bread. I was excited about the venison and it was moist and well constructed. The basket of fries was loaded, but they were fairly limp with lots of potato skin. The patty melt was the major disappointment - super dry, no sauce, and not very melty for a patty melt. Thousand Island or the like was nowhere to be found... It was thinly smashed beef, lots of onions, and cheese on sourdough bread. I'm all for supporting a purist, but it was uncomfortably dry and bland. Really wish I had sauce. Other orders included the pepperoni flatbread, chicken parm sando (could've benefited from more sauce), and the grilled cheese which came with au jus. The beers were good and the pours were generous. Staff was attentive and kind. Lots of country music and football on the screens. It's an awesome spot with a great location, I just wish the food was better. I plan to try again, but might only come for drink specials. $5 for a bucket of 5 beers on Mondays? Sounds amazing

We came here for the Super Bowl $1 wing special! We got there right before the special started at 6pm and were seated/served quickly. The fries were delicious and you could taste the beef tallow! Wings were also good, and plenty of sauce. Giving 4 stars just because both the wings and fries didn't come out hot (probably due to prepping for superbowl rush).

The food was expensive and really only okay. My poached eggs were very overcooked. The server did not greet us, did not check on us and was very rude the few times that we did interact. He was perfectly cordial to others but treated us with open hostility to the point that other patrons noticed. We were honestly taken aback by how we were treated and will not be returning.

    $5 drafts for happy hour

Really friendly sweet service from Candy!! My friend spilled an entire beer on herself by accident and they were really nice about it - refilled it, checked on her, switched our tables. Their happy hour deals are great. We took advantage of the $5 pepperoni rolls and $5 draft beers (before 6pm). There was a little confusion about the prices of it at first, so the server had to check with the manager - but they figured it out in the end. The pepperoni rolls are a must get! Especially for $5. They're super yummy and quite filling. The marinara it came with was also delish. After 6pm we ordered a $5 bucket of bud lites - it came with 5 cans in it! That's a Monday only deal. We also tried their tallow fries which came with a yummy truffle aioli. And we loved their complimentary popcorn. All in all, a cute space! I would come back for a full dinner and for the other daily deals.

Aaron our server was wonderful and attentive. The Ginger Jar margarita is nothing special and tastes like a cheap sour mix. However, the food was absolutely delicious - pepperoni rolls are a must try! They are perfect for two people to share. The short rib grilled cheese was also delicious and a large portion. We also tried the $5 burger deal and that is one of the best deals I have seen in the Arlington area. Large burgers with all of the fixings and fries on the side. My advice would be to put the same effort into the cocktails as you put into the food - or shorten the list of "signature cocktails" and focus on quality over quantity. Also some areas of the restaurant felt like the WV vibe, but others are just plain, sterile, and feel like no effort was put in to make the space cohesive.

I've stopped here a couple times now to split a quick dinner with friends and have been impressed by our meals both times! The first time I had the short rib grilled cheese which was so delicious, and the second time I had the chicken cutlet Caesar salad. I eat a lot of Caesar salads but this is one of the best I've had! I want to come back on a normal night so I can sit down and get my own meal because I can't say what the service is like yet but I'll definitely be returning. It's a great location and very open inside, great for coming for drinks and dinner with a large group or escaping the crowds at BOE next door.

Solid food and very cute decors. We weren't like blown away but for the location and good portions we had a good time. They don't have mocktails though and I personally don't like non-alcoholic beer options

Cool spot! Warm vibes. Great specials throughout the week. Our group agreed that we'd love to have a table on a football weekend and enjoy the food and drinks. Service was great and we went a couple days after opening.

    Hot honey pepperoni pizza

Came for lunch when it was noticeably not busy and had the worst service. Took half an hour just for someone to greet us and bring us water. Water was asked for at least 3 times. 2 people at the table asked for coffee, both were brought just a cup of black coffee with no sugar or milk, when they asked for it, were brought just a full cup of milk. One of these coffees came probably 15 minutes after repeatedly asking for it. Food came, and we asked for extra napkins which we never received. My boyfriend ordered the tavern breakfast which involves 2 choices (eggs, meat) and he wasn't asked what he wanted, or given an opportunity to tell him so that was a total surprise when it came. I got a side of fries that ended up having a huge hair in it. Boyfriend had to ask for hot sauce probably 3 times before some came. All around terrible experience - won't be coming back.

    Spicy Vodka Rigatoni
    Carly F.

Nettie's Tavern is a total win. The service was super friendly and fast, and the food was even better. The nachos were loaded and delicious (perfect for sharing, though I kind of wanted them all to myself), and the spicy vodka rigatoni was amazing--creamy, flavorful, with just the right amount of heat. Great vibes, great food, great people. Definitely adding this spot to the regular rotation.

Lots of standing room, limited seating, but the patrons are young, beautiful, and mostly college students from nearby schools. Not my crowd, but met one of my friends here after work in Arlington around 6:30 since the weather was perfect yesterday. We decided to go to my favorite restaurant for a more elevated experience and live music. One day, I'll come back to watch people ride the bull downstairs, which I imagine that to be hilarious and entertaining. The bartender told me the place doesn't come alive until about 9pm, so that's when it's crowded and probably off the chain.

I went for the first time back in October and I had a good time. The drinks were competitively price for Arlington proportions but the food AND cocktail menu are just painfully limited. If you're ordering just standard bar drinks like a domestic draft beer or a shot of tequila you're fine, but a grilled cheese sandwich on the menu? Seriously? The biggest attraction of this bar is the mechanical bull. But the caveat is that you need to get a ticket to ride it which costs $5. Not terrible pricing but considering PBR at Power Plant Live in Baltimore has a mechanical bull (and more space but will get to that in a bit) it feels like a slap in the face. But again it's $5 and I'm going to presume that money goes towards maintenance of the mechanical bull ride anyway. Also depending on what day and time you go be prepared to be packed like sardines. There's three rooms one of which is a dedicated dance floor. And the room farthest from the entrance, about 85% of the room is taken up by the mechanical bull. The first time I went there was no room in the mechanical bull room because they blocked off 5% of it for some group party reservation. We went up to the rooftop which was a bit more spacious but naturally if it's cold outside or raining you're obviously not going up there. Overall, BOE has potential but a limited food menu, and even more limited cocktail menu, and small indoor space makes this an easy bar to skip when there's a line out the door.

Could not ask for a better parking situation. Ordering was almost seamless. We got there at 1 o'clock, middle of the day on 4/18, plenty of empty tables. We went up to the bartender to take our order, and then gave them our table number and they delivered it. The QR code on the table only shows you the menu. It is not used for ordering, which was odd these days. Chill and super awesome bartender with the mother of all hickeys. Good pours. No Skrewball :-( I had the special, two hot dogs with tater tots. When it said double, I wasn't sure if that meant double the tater tots, but that meant actually two hot dogs. Really good. I also had the other special, the two pancakes. I meant to get the sausage, but they gave me the bacon instead. It was great. Well worth it. I thought that was the better value of the meals. They got a lot of board and card games. Very laid-back atmosphere, 90s and early 2000s pop on the music, comfortable seating, and good food. The prices were reasonable. This is one area that I think we are just going to have to deal with for quite some time. The give-and-take of prices,. Smothered tater tots, pancakes, two hotdogs with some tater tots, and three drinks came out to ~$55. NOT. BAD. Was it worth it? If this had been just a normal restaurant, I would've said no. It would've been more worth it if it had been about $40. But... nobody made us pay to use the board games, or the card games, and we sat there for three hours and had a really good time. So based on that, the fact they provide a venue for playing these games and hanging out for a few hours makes it all worth it. Really strange thing was that there was this balding guy with a beard that randomly showed up as a waiter. We had been dealing with a bartender, so this guy, kind of rude came on to us and we weren't sure what to do with him. He kind of blocked me from paying the bartender. Rude. Not a hangout spot every day, but certainly once a week, maybe once a month or more, definitely a place to meet up if you got a group. I was really surprised by the diversity of the people that were there. A lot of chess players, a whole table of middle-aged women, lots of different people playing games. I would give them five stars, but not quite perfect. The rude guy at the end was so odd. Otherwise, great location, great parking, the food was good, good value, and fun.

At first, you'll see what looks like just a pizza shop -- but if you head in and either use the side door or walk through and climb a set of stairs, you'll find the speakeasy upstairs. Very cool vibe: dark, cozy, and date-night ready. Drinks: 4/5 I ordered their take on an Old Fashioned, and it was definitely the highlight of the night but sweeter than I would have liked. They served it over a stamped solid block of ice (a small detail I ). My friend was abstaining from alcohol that night and asked for a non-alcoholic cocktail. To our surprise, they didn't just hand her a lemonade like most places -- they actually made her a crafted virgin drink, which she loved. Food: 3/5 We ordered fries and a slice of pepperoni pizza. The fries turned out to be waffle fries (not mentioned on the menu) and were overly crispy, so not really our favorite. The pizza was fine -- clearly sourced from the shop downstairs -- but it leaned oily and didn't really wow us. Service: 5/5 Pretty standard -- nothing over the top, but not neglectful either. Drinks came out reasonably fast, food followed, and we were checked on enough without it feeling pushy. Vibes: 4/5 The speakeasy itself is definitely the selling point. Dark, intimate, and stylish -- you feel like you've found a little hidden spot. All in all, the cocktails are the reason to come, especially if you're into whiskey. The food was forgettable, but it's convenient that you can order pizza upstairs. We spent about $30-40 for drinks and snacks, which isn't shocking for Old Town. Would I go back? Maybe if I was already in the area, but for a dedicated whiskey night, I'd probably head somewhere else.
