Went here for my watches battery change. I have brought one of them at the mall but it got scraped (luxury watches), so I went her after that. They're very polite, kind and friendly. Ruth has been so warm and she let me pet and play with their dog which is so behaved. They called us when the watches were done which is the same day. David assured me that they could get my two cleanings and a repair done within the two weeks before the Winter Holiday. He was good to his word; the two dirty pieces were sparkling, and the Pearls were restrung with a new clasp added. They were helpful, genuinely nice people, and they did quality work on time. McWherter's took over for Andrus Jewelers. So far I've been more than satisfied by their work. They're going through a real difficult medical situation right now, but still found the time to fix my wife's bracelet that got "smushed". It got delayed for perfectly understandable reasons, but still got on my wife's wrist for Christmas. I previously reviewed them with 3 stars because of the near constant "closed" status, and did not know why that was the case. Now that I do, I'm deleting previous review (well, I would but It seems there is no "remove" button after too much time has past, sorry McWherter's :( If you wish to ask for my old 3 star to be removed, I'll certainly support that) Further, they maintained the records from Andrus' jewelers which was quite helpful for doing some research on my wife's mother's neckless. Hell, they even got my grandfather's near worthless but sentimentally valuable pocket watch working. I would have no issue using them again in the future. They do great work! read more

Went in after asking other places if they could assist with a watch that lost a pin, resulting in the links & band to come undone. Everywhere we went stated they couldn't help because they didn't have the correct pins. Upon entering McWherter's we were immediately greeted and assisted. I dropped off a couple rings that needed a little work Thursday and inquired if they would possibly done by Saturday as I just noticed the diamonds wiggled and didn't want to lose them yet I wanted to wear them Saturday evening. I got a phone call the next day, Friday, that my rings were ready to pick up!! If I had an Oscar to give, David McWherther would own it. Truly the singular most exceptional customer service I have ever experienced in my life. During a 35-year military career I lived in 8 different states and several foreign countries and did business with hundreds of merchants. None of them can compete with the service that David provided today. My wife bought a beautiful ring with a wide band and a lot of diamonds. She slipped it on her finger without too much problem. It was immediately stuck on her finger because of the width of the band. Overnight we tried all the Google suggestions without success. My wife called dozens of "jewelers" for help but none of them could. I happened to find McWherther's Jewelers website and a text message assistant popped up. Within minutes of sending a text message to their website, David McWherther responded and said he could probably get the ring off. I was surprised when he offered to do it on a Sunday afternoon if it was urgent. My wife's discolored finger made it urgent in my mind, so we accepted David's offer. He very carefully removed the ring and took every precaution to minimize discomfort to my wife. To get it off, he had to cut two pieces out of the band because it was so wide. We were both very relieved when the ring was off. I was dumbfounded when David said he removed the ring as a "service" and would not take any payment. The more I thought about his service and kind gesture I realized that David just earned two life-long customers for anything to do with jewelry. After living 66 years, I have never, never had that kind of exception customer-focused service from any merchant; period. Thank you, David, from the bottoms of our hearts! read more

No Stars for this so called jewelry store! You will not believe this! A ring was purchased from an antique show in Pacific Grove. The ring was brought in to this "jewelry" store to be polished and have the prongs checked. The customer was told the diamond was not real. The store attempted to sell the customer another stone. A stop payment of the check was charged to the customer. The vendor received a fee for the bounced check. The church antique show coordinator advised the ring to be looked at by a real jewelry store in Monterey, where the ring was found to be real. read more
