I came in with sizing concerns with my engagement ring -- a previous jeweler advised putting sizing beads in the ring to prevent it from spinning, which made the ring difficult and painful to take on and off. Stuart was willing to help me figure out what options worked best for me and my ring via trial and error, which included possibly resizing, making the beads smaller, but ultimately removing them completely. I have been a long time customer of Stewart at RS Suzuki Jewelers and he has been outstanding to work with this past eight years. I am a watch collector and I come to him first to resize all my watches...I think he has done at least eight. For one watch, he recommended that I go to an authorized dealer to resize the watch since he felt they had the better tools to do so. You cannot buy that kind of humility and honesty. He also cleaned two watches, which looked great afterwards. All this at the best price that I have found anywhere else for high quality work. My son's Casio watch battery needed replacement. I brought this in first thing when they opened. He said he would need to take it apart to replace it and asked if he could call me when ready. That was fine with me. He called a couple of hours later. The battery had been replaced and for a very reasonable charge. I would definitely return for the same service, if I were in need of jewelry or watch repair, or for a jewelry purchase as well. He sells a small selection of jewelry and does repairs as well. Street parking is available right outside, as well all along the blocks nearby. As of the time of this post, his shop is closed 1 PM - 2 PM for lunch. Hours may vary slightly from day to day. FYI, for those unfamiliar with the area, it is near the Post Office, a few cafes, and eateries. read more

My father was killed when I was just 13, and I've been wearing his initial ring since I can remember. It's been sized several times, and because the band was stretched and thin, it has broken twice. Both times Mr. Suzuki was able to repair it. But he told me the next time it broke, it would need to be reshanked. Well, it finally broke again. So I took it to a (supposedly) reasonable jeweler in Texas, where I was traveling, and he quoted me $200! First time customer -- I was very impressed by RS Suzuki today. Several jewelers have told me that the pave band on my engagement ring cannot be made any smaller to fit my finger. I emailed RS Suzuki this morning to ask if he thought it could be done and he said he thought so. I came in at noon and he quickly said yes, he could do it. By 2pm my ring was ready for pickup and it was 100% perfect! My engagement ring has been too big for 17 months and, in only 2 hours and for a reasonable price, it is now perfect. Excellent jewelry repair! The old jewelry store in North Monterey on Fremont, told me my 35 year old very sentimental gold watch was no longer working. I ask them to recommend another Jeweler and thus Suzuki was new to me. I thought perhaps a good cleaning was due. Well, the staff was friendly, warm and welcoming. The very humble shop has been a family owned and operated business for decades. The elderly, charming mom was at the counter. The Jeweler son was very studiously examining his next project. I put off changing batteries on two watches and adjusting the links on a watch my parents bought me. I chose Suzuki because of reference from a customer and the perfect reviews. I am so pleased I chose Suzuki for my repairs. Mr. Suzuki was very professional and gave me an accurate estimate on timing. I was surprised to get a call within an hour to advise me that one of my watches required three batteries. I thanked him for the heads up and he let me know that my watches were nearly completed and ready in ten minutes. The level of service was elevated when I picked up my three watches. Mr. Suzuki went over some of the features of my new watch and was concerned that it may need to be "recharged" by the factory. It's a solar watch and this dummy left in a box for months and was completely dead. I wasn't aware of the care the watch required and I was thankful for the advice Mr. Suzuki gave me on future care. The owner really got me out of a jam. I sold a watch on eBay that worked, but needed a battery. The buyer returned it to me claiming the watch was damaged in shipping. Well in comes Suzuki. I took Suzuki the watch and he was able to give me enough information to demonstrate that the watch had been opened and damaged from the inside during a battery change, not from shipping. I refused to refund the buyer's money based on the information Suzuki gave me. The buyer opened an official dispute via eBay, but I WON based on the careful observations of Suzuki and was spared having to pay for the buyer's mistake. I most especially love fighting the good fight against a scammer and winning because of the solid, observable data that Suzuki gave me.
