Hard to dislike the only Asian grocery store in my area. They have all you could need and more. Produce always cheaper here than American markets. They have a hot bar with ready made food including roast duck and crispy pork. They occasionally have deals but note that you'll need to take photos of the deal as sometimes they're misleading and don't ring up. I question the ethics of the business operator. I noticed the price tags on MANY items were either missing or intentionally misplaced. I paid special attention to the labels and price tags of each item, I even compared the size and item code just to be sure I did not misread. In general, the prices are 25% higher than other Asian Markets. I chose and bought a few items, listed at x dollar and rang up X+30% higher than the listed price. I really like this store for the most part. I shop here frequently because of the large variety of stock they have in such a small building. I use to go to their other location in Pinellas Park that location is large.The issue I have with this store is they have one male employee black hair who wears glasses and is balding. He's about five feet five inches medium to mildly chunky build. This guy has got to be the rudest son of a bleep! they have working their. A few times that I've shopped their when I ask him for a location for an item he always says it with an attitude like I'm bothering him or something. I have let his piss poor attitude slide a couple of times. I usually see him stocking the shelves. I say this to the management keep his evil ass in the stock room away from the customers. I haven't been to MD Oriental Market in a very long time. I would visit every now and then to look for medicinal teas, produce, and spices. I actually stopped going because at one time the odor from the fish market permeated throughout the store and was too overpowering for me. It seemed a little better this time. Maybe because I had my mask on, or maybe they have a better ventilation system. It seemed more confined to the fish market corner this time so my experience today was much better. They do have fresh fish if that's your thing. Many live sea creatures in fish tanks which is great. It's a very popular place to shop for all things Asian. They really do have a huge selection, and it's great that they also have a hot food area in the back. It all looked great. I also noticed they had many different Asian buns with different fillings as well. The aisles are very organized with clear signage. Everything is spread out. They only had one flavor (dark green tea) of Japanese KitKat bars today, but I think there is a shortage right now. I did find a few Filipino candies and some wafers that I wanted to try. The cashier was very nice and friendly. I'd go back again if I can't find what I need at the Asian market that is closer to me. I also want to try some of the wonderful food from the hot bar. Adding my new finds and updated stuff. Like always when i am in the area. I love stopping by, but this time it was kinda accidental. I wanted to buy fluffy samishes from Zimo bakery next door. But a las they close on Mondays. Found out when me and a bunch of strangers walked ip to it n started to drop F bombs lol sense i know MD sells buns n other bakery goods. It was enough to get me to get in. Noticed they have a huge selection on mushrooms now and I found Royal Trumpets!! (Also known as king oysters) I got two packages of them! Just $4.35 a pop. Huge meaty mushrooms. If u didn't know; slice them like bacon thick, then marinate them in sou sauce, spices and stake sauces of your locking. Let them sit on that over night and then. I like to slow smoke em on the grill off set from the fire. They come out like "Vegan Bacon" they are very chewy compared to portabela mushrooms. Probably could string them to n use as noodles. They are one of my favorites mushrooms to use to simulate meat. I love learning new techniques. I like to be informed n have the skills to romance any type of person lol im omnivore n for some weird reason vegans come out of the bushes for this T lady. Lol i can make Ghost chicken tacos. (Ghost as in no chicken). Moving on, they removed the iced fish section and replaced it with a nice cooler. Everything that used to hang out on ice? Is now prepackaged and priced. No wait line no having to wait on cleaning it. U just pick it n walk away. They still have the live seafood area. I noticed they had a huge selection of clams. They brought in new varieties of fish. Today i noticed they had Catfish whole. If you you are "fishing" n out partying instead? Not a bad idea to bring in one of these babies to show to your fam and cover your butt lol every time i see whole lobster its like $9.99 and i pick them. I am pretty sure the love ones may be more than that. I do like their live seafood options. Some days they have live blue crabs and today i got lucky and found live Crawfish! I bought 2lbs at $4.99 per lbs! I did the one thing you should never do with food! I fell in love with them, stopped at a pet store n bought what i needed to keep em alive. They are now adopted n living la vida loca in my bathroom aquarium. I will obviously try to weed them down. Huge recommendation to my fishermen locals! Buy em put em in a tank and then take what u need when hitting open water. They are the best for fishing! I will keep 4-10 i have plenty of tanks to keep them. The rest i may give them a second chance of life. I can always build that pond i always wanted. These babies help keep the algae down in ponds n eat any neighbors that kick it. Me and my family are asian, but the asians that work in this store are fresh off the boat kind of asian. This no helping, kind of nonsense in china is called "saving face." I have been meaning to go to this market for a minute for typical grocery stores are just closer. Finally made it here and glad that I did. This place has all your favorite asian snacks, cuisines, and even fresh produce such a veggies, fruits, fish, crab, and more. (FYI, even fish and crab swimming in tanks) There is an asian "restaurant" in the back, I am not sure what was served. I spotted my favorite: thai teas (but in a can) and a variety of milk teas in a bottle. Sadly, didn't get a chance to snap pictures but will on my next return. I went specifically for my dog! That's right, my dog. He is on a raw diet and this Asian market had all types of meats and organs for him. I spent $23 and came out with so much: pack of duck heads, pack of chicken gizzards, pack of kidneys, two packs of liver, four frozen wild-caught mackerel, a pack of chicken feet, and chicken hearts! Not giving five stars because thought they require mask and even have a trash can to dispose of mask and gloves as you leave, I did not see anyone cleaning and sanitizing the hand baskets and shopping carts, so just slightly sketch out about that. read more

May is Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The supermarket is a source of community pride and the center of family activities. Not sure if the corporate structure encompasses all three MD Oriental Markets. Gratitude for all efforts. This store is convenient off I-75 highway and McDonald's for pit stops. The hot, prepared foods is in the back. The BBQ can be prepackaged for efficiency. My favorite lunch is salt and pepper shrimp or pork chop,General Tso's chicken and string beans over rice noodles. This MD Oriental Market is alright. I've been to the one by Temple Terrace plenty of times. It's much larger. The produce section seems quite small here as well as the frozen section offerings. They also do not have as much stuff in the toiletries and home/kitchen area. I did find a few things and the best one was some passion fruit snack that I didn't see at the other location. I hope it will be at my usual shopping spot. What's nice about this location is the parking backs up to the curb of the entrance so you can park backwards and load your groceries kind of like Ikea. My sisters and I were racially profiled in this store by an employee (we're African American). We came in to buy different flavors of ramen and also looked around out of curiosity since we had never seen some of the products offered. Then an employee (cashier) started following us everywhere. She was within 10 feet of us everywhere we went, on every aisle. Looking at the items we'd pick up and try to act like she was restocking. This went on for over 5 minutes and was honestly so disrespectful and disgusting that I told her to back off. While we were waiting for Green Island to open today, I decided to head over to the new MD Brandon location to see if they were open. And they were. To my amazement, I did not expect to see such a beautiful market inside! The windows are completely tinted from the outside, so you would never know how clean, organized, and professional looking it is inside. Reminded me of H Mart in larger cities like Atlanta. The produce and seafood were so fresh. They also have a Hot Counter with cafeteria buffet style items. There were some interesting entrees like Fried Egg with Bitter Melon. I made sure to buy some of the more hard to find things in their pre-packaged display, like "five spice hard boiled eggs." They also have duck and chicken, like the Tampa MD location. They have carried many variety dry food can food and fresh food. There six major departments. The Fresh vegetable. The frozen section, imperishable food, deli, fresh seafood, and meat. The deli have the roast duck, crispy pork, BBQ pork, braise pig stomach, pig ear, pig tongue, and soy chicken in the BBQ section in deli. The deli have regular dish like salt and pepper pork chop or shrimp, general tau chicken, sweet and sour chicken, Buddha delight, seafood mix vege, kungpao chicken, fried rice, and noodle. The meat department you can get special cut such pork belly, short rib cut, beef Shane. I like the most is they allow for smaller piece flank steak less than half pound. The sea food department have live fish, lobster, vancouver crab. The frozen section have Sahbu Sahbu (hot pot) material that you can assemble. You can get thin slice pork, fish cake, shrimp or octopus ball, meat ball, thin slice beef. The center section has jasmine rice for various region. They also have the sticky rice, sushi rice, brown rice. The munch area have deferent type of biscuit, mochi, dry squid eat out from bag, fried shrimp chip..... Got to check out yourself. The fresh vegetable that I like the most are the Chinese Kailan, hollow stem spinach, Bok choi, Yu choi. There is tropical fruit that you have never seen before like rambutan. This market is very close to where I work (on Adamo Drive in Brandon, same shopping center as Old Time Pottery/Home Depot/Floor & Decor). The prices are great and the selection is very interesting. The veggies/fruit are priced very competitively and the selection is eclectic. They have several kinds of Bok Choy, herbs, apples, mushrooms, beans, etc. The dry noodle selection is impressive and there is an entire aisle of asian sauces and teas. The meat area is not my favorite as it is mostly composed of exotic things like intestines and tongues. The fish department is also very edgy with whole fish and still swimming fishes like eel and shellfish. The cooked food counter in the back is always bustling due to the $4.99 lunch special. Pick a meat with 2 sides. There is duck and chicken for starters which lunchtime visitors were buying up constantly during my visit. Great selection of tofu, miso paste, as well as random finds like quail eggs in the refrigerator section. You can also pick up cooking supplies, bamboo plants and a good selection of Sake. One of the more comprehensive Asian markets in the Tampa Bay Area... The fresh vegetables are great - there's Boc Choy and other traditional Chinese veggies, and also you can get large containers of peeled garlic for around $1.50 - an amazing price! There are literally rows of sauces to choose from, but many of the labels don't have English so you'll need some staff help for some explanation of the more exotic spices and marinades. There's a butcher station for meats and fish - many different fish to choose from. Their meat and fish pricing are decent too. They have two of my favorite Asian buns - Taro and Pork. Both are excellent and very tasty and moist. They usually have plenty of them in their baker case and their only about $1.50 each. There's a ton of other stuff here - noodles of all kinds, crackers, cookies, and dish ware all Asian or inspired. Check this place out for authentic food and supplies! read more

Cheating and dishonest. I asked for two live crabs, but its employee, an old man, mixed a dead one (dead for a long time) and sold it to me. The crabs were wrapped in a plastic bag and I also did not even think that he would cheat the customers like this, so I did not check the crabs then. I absolutely love this place for all the Asian variety of veggies and specialty of food and house hold items. They also have a hot lunch area, with a reasonable prices. They also carry a small mix of Asian beers, and fresh seafood. Lotto can also be purchased here as well. The noodle isle is packed full of so many choices, plenty of marinades and sauces I can't wait to keep trying as many as possible. Place needs to be cleaned especially the fish and meat department. Fish is served on very small packs meat is not properly packed. Floors are no not clean. When you walk to the fish and meat departments be very careful because the floors are wet and slippery you could slip. It's truly a shame because this grocery store used to sell fresh fish but not anymore. I think they must have done some cost cutting and must have laid off some of their employees but that's just my guess. Service is good though. Hot food service is excellent. We have been going to this store since it opened. However, the past few times we've been there, the customer service was horrible. Everytime I asked the stock person where something is, I was told "if you can't find it, we don't have it". Then I would walk around the entire store and find it. They were very impatient like I was a bother. I purchased something with a sign that says one price but rang up a different price. So the cashier asked the stock person why the price is different. He stated that is the wrong sign and told me "you have to read the sign". I'm sorry but if you stock the items at the wrong spot with the wrong sign, that's not my problem. It's not my job to go look for the correct sign and price if the items are stocked in the wrong spot. Very annoyed. read more
