I purchased my own fabric and went to Cutting Edge on the recommendation of some neighbors on Nextdoor. When I dropped off my fabric and existing cushions, I clearly advised the assistant, Bernice, that I wanted the new cushion covers to go over the existing seat bottom and cover as these would be the dog proof covers that I could just remove when needed. The price quoted was wrong and when the owner, Kay, heard her quote my price she corrected her. The pricing was pretty steep, but I felt since my neighbors had recommended this place that I could count on quality and reliable work. The turn around town was said to be 2-3 weeks for the two covers. I received a call from Bernice that my order was ready about two weeks later and when I went to pick them up the original cushion covers were missing. She advised that she would need to find out from Kay and the person who completed my owner what they did with them, but since it wasn't spelled out on my receipt they throw away the existing covers. I told her that I had repeatedly told her the purpose was to make covers to go over the existing cover and cushion as these would be ones that I could take off after the dog had been on them if he got on the chairs. She was pretty condescending advising that if it was know she would have written it down. She ended up calling the person who completed my order and my original covers were in her car of all places and one was completely taken apart as it was used as a guide for the new covers. I had to wait additionally for them to sew the original cover back together. I had to make an additional trip back later to pick up my order and my original covers and when I advised Kay over the issues that occurred earlier, not to mention the issue that the order was clear when placed, she was pretty nonchalant and advised that it must have been a mistake and proceeded to collect the rest of the original order amount. No apologies, no concessions, nothing for errors that her staff did upon taking the order or their rudeness. This place wasn't cheap and the lack of customer service and fulfilling orders the way a customer requests is a reason to steer clear of this business.

This was my first visit to Joann Fabrics and Crafts and have to say it was a great experience…read moreoverall. It took me a moment to find an employee but once I did, they assisted me in my search for the item I was looking for. The item I was looking for was not on the shelf, the employee who was helping me had to contact another employee to find the item I was looking for. That person did locate the item in question. From there I had to get it cut to a smaller size since I didn't need the whole sheet of material. I had to wait like 10 minutes since there was a line for that service. After that I checked out and was on my way.

Building some covers for my appliances but doesn't mean i cant make em look cute too. I also picked up an Embroidery kit and extra pieces. I couldn't find the fabric i needed for that. I wanted something in the super fine. Talked myself out of buying the canvas they sell for it because you can up cycle old jeans for it. Fits my purpose perfectly. I want to make cute custom patches. Starting small and latter ill do like a big one like for jacket or to hang on a wall. I will be back for a circuit in the future. Im interested on a the cutter or the iron and sublimation ones. They made a compact of the cutter one also. I dont have alot of room, this would serve my purpose perfectly. The cup one and iron ones be great for like going to fairs n opening a table to do "on the spot" jobs. Did the mistake of going to the bargain corner. Picked up a car model lit for 7.50. I thought it was like the old school ones i used to buy when i was a kid. They are not. They used to be made of metal. This one was like pvc. Very delicate. I will share the finished one when done. I got very rare vintage mechanical parts from Little Irene's shop as well. I could not find these parts anywhere online and am very happy to have these vintage pieces now. Mechanical vintage machines are not too popular nowadays so it's hard to find a shop who has parts and knowledge. Little Irene's has plenty of knowledge and parts! Manual operations on fully mechanical vintage sewing machines saves me lots of time and money from changing out broken needles to perform sewing on heavy material without needing to get an industrial machine, for which I have no space.. And let's not even mention weeks long power outage during hurricane season, when mechanical machines come in so handy. I am happy Little Irene's restored these machines and keeps them in service. Definitely, this is the most reliable and resourceful sewing machine shop!!!

This is not the first time I've experienced this lack of staffing at JoAnn's, which is why I haven't been to this store in about 3 years. There are never enough people helping customers. Forget it if you go on a weekday to avoid the crowded check-out line. It's horrible! There must be a manager on duty, so it would be helpful if that person at least provided some check-out assistance given this scenario.
