STAY AWAY! I…read morecontacted Absotemp because my air conditioner broke -- right before a heat wave. I was told that there was a service charge of $90 and was given a 4 hour window. Matt, apparently the owner of the company, came a few minutes after the end of that window, a couple minutes after 4:00 p.m. (BTW, he smelled of pot.) When he got here, he asked what the problem was & I explained that the air conditioner wasn't working. He immediatey went to the furnace. I told him I wasn't having trouble with the furnace, it was the air conditioner. He then proceeded to tell me that they are connected, my furnace is old and inefficient, and possibly dangerous. He spent a lot of time looking at it and taking pictures. He then got a phone call and was gone for about 15 minutes. He came back and continued explaining to me about the different kinds of furnaces. I reminded him that I called him about the air conditioner. He asked what kind of thermostat I had and then he finally went to look at the air conditioner. He said that was old as well (both were probably original and from the 1970s), but he couldn't figure out when. He called someone about tracing the model, but they couldn't do it either. He then came back into the house & said he'd go into his truck and write up an estimate. An hour and a half later, I went outside to see if he was still here. All of his prices were really high. And again, it was AIR CONDITIONING repair that I contacted him about. After he asked if I had any questions, I said, "I asked you to come out because of the air conditioning. Can you do anything about it?" He huffed and went outside. He came back in after a couple minutes and said that it was the motor fan and "There's nothing I can do about, it Sweetie." :O (That was the second time he called me that!) When I asked if he had any suggestions, he said "Stay in the basement." It was not said with humor. He then asked for a check ("or an ACH") -- AND HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING except waste nearly 4 hours of my time. I had 3 other companies come out after that. Not a single one charged for an estimate, they didn't take ridiculous amounts of time, and they didn't try to oversell me. Needless to say, I chose a different company.

I have used them for almost two years now and feel confident in their work to recommend them to others. First, their prices are very reasonable. I have had both furnaces and water heaters installed and can assure you that I have paid prices that are below market value. How do I know? I have asked other people in the industry who have affirmed that I got a good deal. Moreover, I checked at Home Depot what it costs for a new water heater and they charged me less for it AND to install it. In other words, the water heater with installation by AFM is less than what a single water heater with no installation costs at a big box store. Second, they back their work up. In situations where something did not work, I simply call them up and someone has come up to take care of it without being charged for a service call. Third, they get out their as quickly as possible. On several occasions, I have called a specific day and someone has come out a few hours later. They have also scheduled me in advance and have come at that specific time without any problems. Fourth, they pull permits, follow code, and communicate with city inspectors for you. They also will contact the manufacturer on your behalf to order a new part if something malfunctions. This is important since it means they honor their work and hold themselves responsible. This is actually quite rare in the HVAC industry. It is also worth noting that they are licensed and insured, which is not always the case with a lot of HVAC people. Fifth, they have an office and keep records. They do not operate out of a van like 90% of HVAC people who disappear right after you pay them. They keep records of the work that they have done at your place and follow up with you. Additionally, the staff there is very accessible and prompt. I have communicated with them through phone, email, and even text message. They really do build their service around their customers' needs. Anyway, unless you feel comfortable working on large mechanical devices like water heaters and furnaces that can potentially cause lots of damage and even kill you in the case of a furnace (i.e. carbon monoxide poisoning), I recommend using this company. If they were a professional company they would pass their permit on the first inspection not take two or three inspections to get it done. I called the famed T&G and they tried to rob me blind after they came out with some outrageous pricing for refrigerant. Contacted at least 5 other companies that would not tell me how much per lb they charge for refrigerant the tech will let you know after the diagnostic, no thank you. I message prime time here on yelp and the pricing was up front and reasonable. Tech arrived within the arrival time frame was knowledgeable and completed the task within 20 minutes. I call them first the next time i need service.
