Our server was PHENOMENAL. She was very attentive even though it was busy. We sat out on the patio which was nice. I had the fish tacos with fried fish, rice, and refried beans. The tortillas are homemade with a nice uniformity and they held together really well. I probably wouldn't rave about the tacos but they were good. We went here for a mid week lunch. They have great outdoor seating. Unfortunately the day we went it was raining so inside for us. Upon being seated our server quickly brought a bowl of popcorn for us to enjoy while perusing the menu. It was very good and didn't last long. The menu is mostly Mexican food a few sandwiches, burgers, salads and appetizers. Our drinks were reasonably priced. Our server, Diamond, was five stars. Friendly, efficient and provided excellent service. My husband had the beef enchilada with rice and refried beans. I had two birria tacos with rice and refried beans. The enchiladas were good. The same as other Mexican restaurants in the area. The birria taco was greasy and the dipping broth had a big layer of fat on top. I do not recommend this item. Bottom line. An experience Paul Simon would be proud of! Me & Julio delivers delicious Tex Mex and provides a fun southern bar-like atmosphere. The salsa was so FRESH and flavorful; I was blown away. The chicken and chorizo hash is a little spicy but well worth the pain. Our server was energetic and made us feel at home. Meh... Just Meh... I've been to Me and Juilo's a few times now and the food has gradually gotten worse over the years. It's just become hapless, bland food that doesn't have much in the way of flavor or any soul whatsoever. For an example, I had the steak Chimichanga... All the shredded cheese was packed in on one side of the burrito while the other side was was some diced up steak with the peppers and onions which created uneven flavors. The queso was on the side and seemed like Tostitos dressed up a little. My wife's basic Gringo Tacos looked more appealing ,but again nothing special. The drinks were just okay too. I'm sober and didn't really dig their non-alcoholic choices and my wife thought their margaritas were a mix. The place is clean, the service is alright, the staff is nice too ,but without amazing food to stand on this place has become a bust. If you want amazing Mex in the same price range get out of Fitchburg and make the 10 minute drive to the Capitol Square and check out Canteen. read more

Very pleasant experience coming here for dinner this evening. The host was very polite and quickly asked where I'd like to be seated once I entered the building. The waitress was also very nice and regularly checked on me to see how the food was and ask if I needed anything. I ordered a beef burrito with a side of rice and refried beans. I substituted the ground beef with steak. The burrito was a good size portion and everything tasted great. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo for this review . We ordered chips and salsa, and the salsa may have been the highlight of the meal. I had the Carne Asada tacos. They were fine. Just fine. They lacked much flavor and seemed generally muddled. The tortillas broke apart easily, which made them a challenge. The rice was uninspired and bland. The "Burracho" beans were fine, but soupy. Service was decent, but it was also pretty empty. Me & Julio has been a staple in our family for years. Every Friday we order carry out fish. It's a great place for a sit down dinner, or to just hang out at the bar for a game. We were looking for a spot with outdoor dining. Because of COVID, we wanted something airy and where we wouldn't be too close to other patrons. Me & Julio fit the bill perfectly. We arrived for a very late lunch around 2:30 pm. There were patrons at only two other tables outside so we had plenty of social distancing space. A minor disappointment was that the chips and salsa were not free. They do bring you popcorn. We ordered chips, guacamole and queso bianca. These were the highlight of our meal. Not that they were outstanding, but they were fine. Similar to the margaritas. Nothing outstanding, but fine. Our server was prompt and courteous. No complaints regarding the service. The entrees were what really disappointed me about the experience. I had chicken enchiladas with rice and refried beans. All three dishes were excessively salty to the point where I didn't want to finish any of them, particularly the rice. Summing it up, the ambiance was great, the service good, but the food severely lacking. We won't be rushing back. read more

I am a big fan of Me and Julio. I have been in a handful of times now, both pre-covid and during. The service, friendly-ness of the staff, and quality of the food has all been top notch. The pork pastor tacos are, hands down, my favorite item on the menu. I have had several entrees though and I don't have a bad word about any of them. For the sides you can't wrong, but the beans are omg good. Mac and cheese is done very well and those are usually my go-tos. They have a delicious assortment of margs but for me nothing beats the classic. This is also a great spot to watch sports as they have several large televisions throughout the restaurant, not just at the bar. Great for a Packer or Badger game. The food was a little disappointing, unfortunately and one guest in our party had to wait significantly longer for their plate. With reasonable prices, it's not a bad place to stop if you're looking to meet up for drinks or a casual dinner but I wouldn't go out of your way. A nice pro is if some of your party is craving Mexican and some aren't, there's a little of both American/Mexican. -I'd say that's the only real bonus; the menu compromises for a group. The service was relatively friendly but a little slow to order, serve and both times we went the restaurant seemed a bit understaffed. Opened only 1 week. We decided to give it a try despite some reservations about wait times. Patio area looked full when we drove in but we were surprised. Read on. First, finding their parking lot wasn't as straight forward. You can get to it via the children's dental center or CDW. We took the latter. We were asked if we want to sit outside or inside and we opted for whichever is first and got our booth inside right away. In less than 10 mins we were served by a smiling bubbly waitress. She said she is learning and she could have fooled me. Efficient in taking our orders and checked in continuously throughout our meal. We are not dessert people but she convinced us to try the fried ice cream. It was good. So good service and no wait time even though the place looked crowded. There were a lot of wait staff also. I noticed tables were cleared quickly as well. On to the food. Two of us shared an appetizer of pork burnt ends and an entree (buddy bowl). The burnt ends served were real meaty. I'm used to the fatty, caramelized ends so this was s change. They serve the good stuff. Buddy bowl came with shrimps, blacken catfish, chicken, rice and 4 flour tortillas. The latter looked home made and smallish. Tasty food. I would come back to try the other dishes. The restaurant seemed promising from the outside with a large outdoor patio and live entertainment. The decor and theme was very well designed and consistent unfortunately most the effort was put there. The fried pickles were pretty good but that's about it. We were craving burgers and figured they can't mess it up, but the two burgers we got were mediocre. I'd go somewhere else and pay the same for fresh patties. You can make these burgers at home with frozen patties and still make them better. read more

They have a big patio with a fire pit, pergolas etc. I don't know if I love or hate the concept of Me & Julio. It is essentially Chi Chi's meets Applebee's. The menu is literally split between American food like French fries, burgers and Mexican like tacos and fajitas. Free popcorn is served (yay!). I wouldn't recommend coming here is you are looking for true authentic Mexican. We got a bowl of the free popcorn (obviously) and then ordered our drinks. Our server forgot our waters and will all of the salty food we were parched! Our server wasn't overly friendly and we didn't actually see her all that much. It seemed like a different person brought our appetizer and then someone else brought out entrees. The food is what ultimately made this a 2 star instead of a 3 star. Quite simply it just wasn't that good. My lemon basil margarita was probably the best part of the meal and I'm pretty sure it still came from a mix. We ordered the queso and guacamole appetizer. It was fine. The queso was decent. The chips were overly salty and the guacamole was worse than what you could buy at a grocery store. We didn't even finish the app, and for anyone who has met me that is saying a lot. My fiancé and I split the chicken fajitas. Again, very sub-par. We both agreed we probably could have made better at home. On top of that, the prices are nearly the same as El Dorado Grill so it's not even that cheap. Mexican is my favorite type of cuisine and I'm always open to trying a new spot but I don't think we will be coming back. read more

This is a three star solely based on service and atmosphere. We went here on Tursday night for trivia and arrived a little early to get food too. On Tuesdays there is a $2 discount on the three taco plates, so I figured I should order tacos. Sadly, I have to say even with the discount, the tacos weren't worth it. I couldn't decide which tacos I wanted, but the waitress was super helpful and said I could mix and match, so i decided on two salmon tacos and the carne asada taco with refried beans. The refried beans were the best part of the meal as there was a nice spice to them. The carne asada taco I'm pretty sure they forgot to put the avocado cilantro sauce on and it was kind of bland even though there was a ton of cilantro on it. The salmon one had very little flavor as well. There was a lot of salmon in the taco however and the homemade tortillas were pretty good. I thought that this would be quite flavorful with the pineapple salsa, but I was wrong. The rice also just seemed a little greasy and could have used something else to give it some pop. Another special on Tuesdays is their margaritas, so we ordered a lime one. It was a standard margarita worth ordering with the discount. As I said the wait staff bumped this review up to a three star as out waitress was super helpful in giving recommendations and the gentleman who brought out our food was very friendly and got me the wifi password and put the game on TV that we asked for. Needless to say, I dont think that we will be back for food, although we did not try the American half of the menu, maybe that has more flavor. read more

Living nearby, we come here often for happy hour. The Good: Their house margaritas come out of a tap (like a beer) but are actually quite delicious. Not super sweet or syrup-y tasting. Appetizers are discounted during happy hour and everything I've had off the app menu (except the chicken tenders) has been delicious. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 1/2 priced margs all night long! They also offer free popcorn, which is quite tasty. Their Mexican rice is probably the best I've ever had and they offer vegetarian beans, which were also good. Service has always been pleasant. The Bad: The rest of the dinner/lunch menu. Nothing stands out, which is why we had visited so many times but never stayed. When we did, we were completely underwhelmed. My cheese enchiladas had clearly been sitting around for a while because the cheese sauce on top was coagulated and the enchiladas themselves were barely warm. My fiance's burrito was flavorless. We were actually perplexed on how something with so many ingredients could taste so bland. To top it off, the chips and salsa we ordered as an app, came out after our meals. First time here for dinner with kids and mother-in-law. The food is a mix between American and Mexican. I ended up having the walleye dinner based upon our waitress' recommendation. I had it cooked blackened with cheesy red potatoes. I thought the fish was tasty and well seasoned, some bones which I didn't mind. The potatoes were good and not mushy, lots of melted cheese on them (almost too much...almost) I was impressed with our waitress (I didn't get her name). She was super nice and genuine.
