My friend and I visited Ollie's in Fitchburg, as I wanted to support the adapted version of the place that was once a multi award-winning restaurant in the Madison area. I had the jambalaya bowl, in homage to what the space used to be. I really appreciate the inclusive approach -- offering fidgets, coloring pages, noise-reducing headphones, and letting guests choose between ordering via QR code or from a server. It's clear Chef Dave wants everyone to feel welcome, and that's something I fully support. I personally opted to order from a server rather than the QR code, because I want to support the staff providing service. Of note: 20% tip on all orders. See website for the why! This place was wonderful! They have a very extensive menu with a full vegan mine and tons of gluten free fishes. My sister has celiac disease and was thrilled to have so much to pick from. We had onion rings, cheese curds, fish and chips, peanut Thai pasta and it was all GF and delish! We also have an autistic child in our family and was touched to see they had headsets and special toys for those kids. The decor was fun and had an overall great vibe. First time visit today while in town to visit our college student and touring the Epic campus. We were a party of 5. Worst service I've ever experienced. Waitress struggled to take our order using the toast device. The person who brought us our drinks did so while she was on the phone talking to someone. One person's meal was brought out first, even before our appetizers. Then about 5-10 minutes later most of our appetizers arrived. We asked what was going on with the order and why food was out of order, and the waitress just said "i noticed that." About 10 mins later the rest of our meals were delivered, followed by our last appetizer. Waitress was not attentive. She didn't remember our drink refills either. They offer a pretty large menu with a separate vegan menu, which I was really excited about since the group included a good mix of meat lovers and vegetarians. Food was just ok. Tofu dishes were not good- barely any sauce or seasoning. The buffalo smoked wings didn't have any buffalo sauce on them- they were just served as plain, smoked wings. Onion straws were good. We took the butterscotch blondie to go- the frosting on it was very gritty. Gratuity of 20 percent is always automatically applied to ensure all are paid a living wage. I have no problem with that, but perhaps that was the reason that the entire staff didn't seem to care about providing good service. We will not be back, and I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Great place for dietary restrictions including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free. A very accommodating restaurant. They include a 20% service fee in your bill so no need to tip extra unless you have an experience that you feel deserves more. This is good and bad. I've been a handful of times and the service has been ok but I feel it's a little less service oriented than places I've been that don't include tips. The pesto pasta is great and a nice large portion that I had left overs. I will say the prices are a bit high and almost everything is an extra. My pasta dish was $15 and it was $4 to add chicken. My coworkers got the pad Thai and indicated it was extremely salty. The deep dish pizzas looked like a great choice. One of my coworkers had it and wasn't disappointed. Probably the best option for the cost. I'd love to check out a happy hour too. Some sides like her secured are only $4. read more

We went to Ollie's for dinner and Friday Happy Hour and this was one of my favorite date nights I've had in years! The food was incredible: we shared the Mulligatawny (which I had never had but was so good), and the deviled eggs as apps. And then the meals were homemade gyros and birria. I know, what an eclectic mix but that's what was fun about it!! But the fun had just begun.... After dinner we stayed at the bar for Happy Hour where Chef Dave spreads his immense knowledge about spirits and mixology- and it was one of the most informative and fun experiences I've had in a while. Ollie's is a super cute Fitchburg staple! I only gave three stars because I was not extremely impressed with my food but the environment and the service is very calm and friendly. I got the Caprese style Pizza and Truffle Fries. Both were quite good, but not anything out of the ordinary. I have had and loved their Endive Salad before. We have heard great reviews on this place, but had never been until last night. The ambience is super inviting to all. They are so considerate to have items for kids with special needs. Very LGBTQ friendly. They do have a kids menu now with limited selections. However, the main menu has many different selections that are kid friendly as well. My husband is allergic to dairy and gluten sensitive. He was able to have many choices on what to eat, which is usually Quite opposite anywhere else. He had the gyro on a gluten-free pita with vegan tzatziki sauce. He said it was fantastic. I had unpronounceable vegan hamburger with a special sauce. When I saw that I was expecting more of 1000 island type of sauce. It was very mustard forward. It was good, but not what I was expecting. They offer different varieties of pizza. However, the pizza only comes in one size and they are all deep dish. It would be great if they could offer regular pizzas. The Mediterranean platter was fantastic! We loved having our olives, hummus, falafel, and pickled red onions! Our cocktails were delicious, we got getting caught in the rain. It was very sweet and felt like a drink you would have on a beach. Great place for groups and families. The service was great in fact they were incredibly attentive. Their atmosphere is very LGBTQ+ friendly with lots of rainbows. I also like the butterfly artwork. The food is wonderful. I'd recommend their pizza. The Deviled Eggs are salty, but I like them. I'm a 52 year old that was vegan for a bunch of years and vegetarian since I was 15. I placed an online order at OIlies when I was in the area for work and ordered a cheese pizza (Deep Dish style) and the smoked tofu bbq sandwich. I thought both entrees were better than I expected. The tofu slab in the tofu sandwich was THICK which seems like a good deal but I would have preferred the tofu slab to be thinner and have more of a baked on bbq sauce. This seemed to have the barbecue sauce added on when stacking up the sandwich,, Either way it was a tasty/filling BBQ tofu sandwich. The deep dish pizza is not a style I am very familiar with since I have lived in New England most of my life but I liked it. Cheese to the edge and crispy cheese around the edge of the crust. Light but flavorful. No complaints, Ollies has a full menu to cater to anyone that desires meat/cheese based options but has separate menus for their veggie/vegan options and they also go out of their way to cater to everyone. I will quote their website, "We are a family friendly, casual dining restaurant in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. We make our food with love from scratch daily. We offer culinary accommodations like gluten free, vegetarian, vegan and taking notifications of allergens seriously. I didn't know what to expect walking in; my wife and adult son chose this spot because he has dietary restrictions due to a chronic condition. However... They have some of the best onion "rings" I've ever eaten (onion hay is the name of the dish), and some of the best cheese curds in the city. Both of these are celiac-friendly dishes, and given some of the challenges cooking for that, they were surprisingly good. The mac and cheese that I had was delicious. Perfectly creamy, awesomely baked. The only dish of concern was my wife's Mediterranean plate. She felt the falafel were too spicy. But that's a preference thing. Service was attentive, but not overly so. We were visited the right amount of times at the right times by the wait staff. Our table interacted with three wait staff, all of whom seemed to watch out for one another. We hope to return soon! read more

When we entered we were greeted immediately by the restaurants namesake Ollie and were seated quickly. We were checked on very frequently and the food came out lightening fast. Music was not too loud and the restaurant had multiple single stall bathrooms. I ordered a brandy alexander for dessert and didn't read the description well enough and got the smallest $13 half shot of brandy in a champagne glass of cream. No Ice Cream!! They were my first cheese curds ever, and I think they'll spoil me for future cheese curd experiences! Our group also enjoyed the innovative smoked tofu sandwich, the peanut noodles, and the falafel. The house side salad was very fresh & had the most wonderful vinaigrette. Our servers were very nice & I like how the tip is shared with all employees! We were a party of 4 of a cold Friday night and expected a crowd. Surprisingly we were seated immediately. However it was by the door and every time it opened, we felt an icy draft. May I suggest a space heater? Or just remove the table until the weather warms up because we were prepared to wait. Service wasn't great. We waited around 20 mins and then flagged the manager who told our server to take our orders. We decided to start on Cheesecurds and Ollie Fries, but went ahead and ordered our entries expecting the main dishes to take a while. However even the appetizers took another 20 minutes and again, we had to involve the manager. If the servers were busy (understandable on a Friday), maybe don't be too hasty in seating customers? By now we were hangry but when the finger foods arrived, they were Amazing! Our entries were Pesto Pasta (4/5 stars), Thai Peanut Pasta (3/5 stars because there was too much Sriracha), Jambalaya Bowl (5/5 stars) and Brinner (4/5 stars because the bacon was too fatty to eat). I would come here for the appetizers definitely. The gluten-free options were great. Pretty good place but there's room for improvement especially the service. read more

The restaurant formerly known as Liliana's has been redone as Ollie's. Inside has been renovated and rearranged. A couple things you should know before eating here: - There is no kids menu. - An automatic 20% service charge is added to all bills to provide staff a living wage. - No reservations for tables less than 8. - There were no desserts when we dined (told these are coming soon). The pizza is a deep dish rectangle format with a thick consistency- very tasty! The fish fry was the highlight of all the food we tried, 4 generous pieces of fish with crispy breading! Appetizers of cheese curds and truffle fries were a little heavy on salt. Still delicious drinks at the bar, including a classic Hurricane from the old menu. Definitely recommend checking this place out! I'll be back. HOW IT WORKS: When you enter, a host seats you and explains how things work. Each table has a light you can tap if you need service. It also has a QR code to scan which allows you to order drinks and food. You have to put in your credit card information right away when you place your order on your phone. If you want to order another drink or anything else, you just add it to your order using your phone. When you want to leave, you just check out on your phone! No need to flag someone down for your bill. GRATUITY: There's an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, so they can pay all staff a minimum of $15/hour. This is great. I fully support this. I knew about it in advance, but it was confusing on the phone. When you pay, a tip screen pops up, and I saw that 20% was highlighted, so I tapped it and apparently tipped an extra 20% on top of the 20%. I thought the prompt was just asking if I wanted to pay the automatic 20% or increase it to 25%. SERVICE: We never needed to tap our light and had excellent service. All the staff were friendly and attentive. They promptly cleared empty dishes, refilled waters, and answered questions. One staff member was extremely helpful and took the time to look up menu item allergens for us. They were very knowledgeable about how foods were prepared and any potential for cross contamination. FOOD: I got the Poppin' burger and my husband got the Diablo burger. We were both impressed. The burgers were some of the most flavorful we've ever had. With the sauce, fresh herbs, and toppings, there was incredible depth of flavors. My husband and I debated how they compared to burgers at some other restaurants we enjoy around town, and we both agreed these were better than anywhere else. The buns were really good and nicely toasted. There is no kids menu. There are plenty of kid-friendly options on the menu. The downside is that if you have young children, you pay for an adult size entree when they will only eat a little. We had such a lovely time today at Ollie's! We had the pesto pasta and off the happy hour menu- truffle fries, onion hay, and the watermelon & prickly pear mules. It was so much food for the price, such a good and YUMMY value that was such a welcome relief in times when eating out always feels so incredibly expensive. That coupled with the almost immediate reply to my feedback email from the chef, telling us we get a free dessert. Lovely touches! Met some friends at Ollie's for food and drinks. There were 4 adults and 1 teenager. The food was pretty good (cheese curds, smoked wings with peanut sauce, fish and chips, falafel, and the keto bowl), drinks were great (old fashioned sours and sweets), service was SLOW. I would definitely give them another try because everyone can have an off day once in awhile. I would just caution if you are in a rush to let them know. We were not in a rush at all and were able to be relaxed about it, but at one point it was a little frustrating to wait for drinks on a Friday Happy Hour with friends. I wanted to like this restaurant but sadly disappointed. I ordered a Caesar salad and wings. The Caesar salad was very boring and consisted of Romain lettuce, shredded Parmesan, croutons, and a small amount of caesar dressing which did not cover the salad. That's it.. very boring, no flavor, and dissatisfying. The wings on the other hand were good, they had a underlying smoky flavor, and the size was perfect. I wanted to say I have been here before and the service was amazing. This last time was not so amazing. We were seated took forever to get a server. We ordered they just dropped off our food and never checked on us if we needed anything else with our meal or drink refills. We waited almost a half hour for our bill and togo boxes. I'm fine with the service charge if the service works... we were debating on just walking out because nobody seemed to care. We also trying to get one of the waitresses attention and they just ignored us. I was definitely disappointed in the customer service. read more

This is a bit of a misstep, I'm afraid. Some really good items and some not so good. Went for an early dinner on a Saturday night. Even as we left at 6:00ish, it was not busy. Our friend is from Detroit and was looking forward to the Detroit-style pizza. The crust was not good, to the point where she asked if they accidentally gave her the gluten free crust. They looked and it and said it was the regular crust. Detroit style should be light, pillowy and crispy, with cheese crusted on the sides. This was dense. Honestly, though it is a chain, Jet's pizza is much better. I had the smoked and fried wings. They were okay, but needed more time in the fryer as they were not crisp at all. On the upside, the onion straws were very tasty, and my wife's fish fry was pretty good. Service was very good, and I like their system of a touch light for service. I love what Dave does for the community and I really hope this place works out (loved Liliana's). My plan is to go back in a couple weeks and give it another try. read more
