This place was recommended to my husband for a long time from locals of this area . We just moved out from LA to Madera and we were craving pizza. After everyone telling us to try this place we finally decided to . To be honest me and my husband were iffy because of the 2 star rating it has . But we had to try it ourselves . The place reminds of a shakey's pizza ( it is a popular old school joint in the LA area ) . But like a lot better . Really remind me of my childhood . It had games for the kids , TVs and a lot of seating areas . Constructive criticism : The place was a bit dirty and some of the tables needed to be wiped down ( think because it was the weekend and were really busy). Now the moment of truth the pizza ! The pizza we got was chicken veggie with red sauce instead of white and we also got bbq chicken wings . The pizza was AMAZING! Like wow the ingredients were fresh and they don't play with the toppings. My husband usually doesn't like to eat the crust on pizzas and this was the first time he ate the whole thing . The crust was nice and light and the wings were a good portion and very flavorful . The one who took our order was really nice that he gave us two sides of ranch for our wings . Very happy with my experience and will totally come back . Took over 2hours for the pizza to come I called them 10 mins after my quoted time and the girl Ashley admitted that they were running behind and that my pizza was barely coming out of the oven when I asked for some kind of accommodation she they could give me the one ranch and one side of jalapeño I ordered for free I said that's not really good enough she then tried to argue with me and tell me that it had only been 100 mins when I clearly looked at my call log and the duration of the call in which I placed the order I was 10 mins away from 2hours!! She rudely said that the pizza is on the way out and that the driver would be here shortly and hung up in my face!! Completely disrespectful and to top it off when the driver came he said the canceled my ranch and jalapeño INCREDIBLE!!! I called back and the manager answered the phone he was very nice and apologetic he even offered to make it right the next time I ordered so we'll see how it goes read more

Me n Ed's Pizza is probably the best example of California brick oven pizza on the West Coast. The toppings are fresh and the dough passes the ultimate test, it is still great the next day cold. The problem isn't with the pizza, the service or even the restaurant but something that I hope doesn't become a trend; charging for ranch dressing. When Me n Ed's changed their pricing, they began charging for jalapeños and ranch dressing. Before, they would load a bag up with more than you could use. Now if you want the little bag of goodies it will cost you a quarter per one ounce cup. Now I agree that if you want raw jalapeños you should pay for those. That is a topping. Even if it's not on the pizza when it goes into the oven it is still a topping but ranch dressing is a condiment. It is no difference that ketchup on French fries or steak sauce on a hamburger. I called every sit down pizza restaurant in Madera and other than Me n Ed's, not one of them charges for ranch dressing. I called IHOP, Denny's and Perko's, not one charges for ranch dressing if you ask for it for your French fries. I found only one other place that charges for ranch dressing and that was Hooters in Fresno. When Me n Ed's changes their employee uniforms and gives me the show Hooters does, then I'll pay a quarter for ranch dressing. Until then it is a condiment! When the price change happened the restaurant also took red pepper and grated Parmesan cheese off of the table and put it into littler cups. All of the other pizza places in town have these items in containers on the table for you to shake on your pizzas. So the customer could use what they wanted and there would be no waste. Now with the tiny cups there is more waste. There is even more expense; they have to buy the cups. Not to mention that they go directly to our landfill. The restaurant needs to ditch the cups and let their customers use the ranch in the salad bar that they have in large containers. How often do they have to throw away unused dressings in the salad bar? How much are those damn cups? Send Me n Ed's a message. Just say no to ranch dressing surcharges. Bring your own bottle or better yet go some where else until the Ferdinandi boys figure out that condiments should come with your meal. And to the cashier at the Madera Me n Ed's who said, "It's not in the rule book that we provide Ranch with your pizza", well it is in the rule book that the customer is always right. I'd like to mention, I did not see one sign that mentions you have to call in your order ahead of time. As I walk in, I am greeted by a female employee who says, "Hello! What's the name for the order?" To which I reply, "Hi! Oh, I don't have an order." She then states something to the effect that they're only taking call in orders, but she'll take my order this one time. I received her tone to be in a condescending way, so I declined and left. Ok so pizza is a personal thing... for me its all about the crust and ratio of cheese, toppings to sauce. You know your pizza is cooked fresh, so big plus there. Fresh pizza and pizza sitting in a warming oven, there is a difference. Pizza starts to degrade as soon as it gets out of the oven, as cheese cools it becomes a bit coagulated and starts to separate from the crust, sauce and toppings. The crust is heavenly, it's no so hard that you have to chomp down hard. Its a crust that has risen and is positively fluffy, almost cradles the crater of cheese and toppings. The sauce is generous enough to come through the cheese and toppings to create that right combination of sauce and melted cheese. These pizza's are more like "artisan" pizza yet the prices are better than some other pizza places. The wait time for us was impressive too, we ordered by phone and picked it up, our order had just come out of the oven and was being boxed. Try them once, you will see what I mean about fresh baked pizza with fresh ingredients, you can taste the difference. read more

On 4/6 we drove down to Madera to celebrate my dad's 55th birthday and decided to get pizza. We arrived before our guest and ordered the pizza so that it would be fresh and hot when they arrived. Nope, not even close... Two pizzas took nearly 50 minutes to baked?? I had to ask my sister to check on them before the 60 minute mark was up, really almost an hour?? Sauce was skimpy, bare to none on the mushrooms and overall quality of pizza bland.I have had way better pizza in at other facilities in the Central Valley. I ordered a pizza for myself and my family on a Friday night. They took down my address and my credit card information, told me it would be delivered in about 45 minutes. Well an hour and a half later, my pizza still had not arrived...I called up and they informed me that my pizza was ready to be picked up....why would I be picking up my pizza when I clearly ordered it for delivery. I had ordered a pizza with two toppings (pepperoni and sausage) about 2 weeks ago and when I got the pizza it had very little pepperoni and sausage. It bothered me considering a big part about pizza are the toppings. Well anyways I order the same order today and I asked them not to be stingy with the toppings and when I got the pizza it seemed like they gave me pizza slices from different pizzas and threw them together to make a "whole" pizza and probably in the oven so it can be warm. Like they got 2 slices from this pizza and that pizza. The reason I say that is because the pizza was not an equal circle. Wish I can describe it better. I've ordered from this location multiple times, and this time was the best!! Maybe I was just a little drunk, maybe I was just a lot hungry...maybe it was both. Regardless, the large combo I got tonight was EXCELLENT. Loaded with toppings and extra cheese...this was the best pizza I've had from this location so far. The green peppers were so fresh! My only dislike is that they seem to use canned or jarred mushrooms versus fresh but that's personal preference. Samantha the delivery gal was super nice and got to us even faster than we were told.
