This place is so awesome!! We come here by snowmobile in the winter during our annual snowmobiling around Yellowstone. It has been around forever and is so good. They have a really simple menu of burger, fries and variations of the two. They are amazing and perfect lunch after a morning of snowmobiling. They have a full bar too! The staff is awesome and happy to talk about the history of the restaurant. Every time we go we learn something new about the owner or the family that lives there. This is not an AA friendly restaurant. after 20+ years of going to this restaurant every year on our vacation, we were turned away when the restaurant was empty simply because we were only two people and did not want to sit at the bar. They insisted that we sit at the bar or the tiny table near the bar, right next to the door where we would freeze. The main reasons we did not want to sit at the bar or near the bar was because my wife is a recovering alcoholic with. 45 days and I told them she did not want to sit at the bar because of that, and they refused to accommodate her. Imagine a restaurant not accommodating someone in recovery when the restaurant was 80% empty. Nevermind that we've been going there for 20 years....Never again. read more

On a snowmobiling trip in the middle of nowhere in Idaho, our group came across this little cabin like restaurant. The place was packed with groups of snowmobiles and people enjoying food, each others company and a little warmth from the frigid temperatures. We all ordered cheeseburgers - (which were delicious) accompanied by home cut fries. Simply, yummy, and hit the spot after a long day on the trail. It's a go to - give it a try if your snowmobiling. Is a good spot to stop and eat intact it's one of the only spots to stop and eat. They have decent food staff can come across as rude.

It's ok, if you are snowmobiling around the area this is pretty much your only bet. They serve burgers with fries and are a cash-only place (although in this day-and-age this is a it silly as the place has LTE range and they could easily get a Square card reader). DON'T GO!!! Small dining room with great food and staff. There is usually a wait during lunch and peak seasons. Fun place to ride motor bikes or snowmobiles to. It is cash only, so be prepared for that. Good old fashion burger joint where there is only a counter between you and the kitchen. read more

I am a fan of the experience. You have to snowmobile into the lodge in winter and in summer it is easier to ATV there than to drive. The Cheeseburgers are good. Good meat, tomato, pickles and lettuce. I get one about every time I go and I average about two times a year. BLTs are also good. They also have a bar with mixed drinks and canned beer. Downsides: - Don't tell them you want to split a sandwich because they charge you $4 extra and you get no extra. - Cash only, and ATMs are few and far between in Island Park, Idaho. read more

As some have noted- remote location but keep in mind these people don't need to be there. They are there because they want to be. They are wonderful folks who will sell you a great meal at a very fair price. Remember- in wintertime most of things you eat there are hauled in by snowmobile by the owners. They don't accept credit cards- good for them! Try a little cash in today's world. If you're looking for 5 star dining you are sol but if you're looking for fabulous homemade goodies this is the place. I think they are providing a great service for the area. We ate breakfast at Meadow Creek two weeks ago on Sat. morning 6/14/08. Our friends (who are locals) took us to experience the specialty of the house, "Sourdough" pancakes. They were melt-in-your-mouth, M-m-m-m-Good. So good, in fact we are going back tomorrow. I believe the sourdough pancakes are only available on weekends, and they are made from a family, "over 100 yr. old" recipe. We were told they serve food all week during their summer season. You'll enjoy the friendly, "feel right at home" service and "Backwoods feel" of the decor and pine log benches/tables. The Lodge also has rooms available for rent and the Home Cooking of the brother-sister owners is worth the drive out to their "Secluded" lodge in Island Park, Idaho. (Only about 25-30 miles South of Yellowstone NP) They are located on Meadow Creek Road about 5 miles back off US20. (Our friends told us some folks give up too early thinking they have missed it, so be patient, it's worth the wait!) There is also a way to reach them from Big Springs Rd (if you're coming from the south) but you'll need to call for directions if you're not familiar with this location. The best place around. But also the only one around. Location, location, location meets greasy cheap food in a cozy atmosphere. Food was cheap, which is good for anyone that hits a tree on there snowmobile and needs to cough up the full deductable. Cash only, $40 lunch for 5 with drink. Ambiance was picnic tables, small bar, and open kitchen area. No outside food allowed. Recommended as a stop to warm up in the winter when snowmobiling. read more

I feel like part of the family with Bill and Louise who own, run, cook and make welcome every person that comes in the door. In addition to all they do in the lodge they run a ranch. So we weren't surprised one evening when Louise served us dinner, put on a pair of gloves, hopped on the four wheeler and went to mend an emergency hole in a fence. Food is home cooking at its finest. My favorite are real french fries made fresh with an Idaho spud. Don't even think you can tackle a chicken fried steak on your own...it hangs off the plate. Everything is fresh and yummy and is prepared right in front of you. My son, at ten years old, loved to play with their shepherd dogs and apparently the bones they chew. He interrupted our dinner by getting a ham bone ring stuck on his finger. After trying every diner's suggested method the farrier showed up and used his horse shoeing tools to remove it. He is now grown but remembers the experience fondly......in fact, has requested we have his wedding dinner and celebration at Meadow Creek next month. We never skip this warm, welcoming, delicious experience and hope to enjoy it for many years to come! read more

Best food in the area! Of course, that's not saying much, as it's the ONLY food in the area. This place is only available via snowmobile during the winter season. They are cash only (understandable due to the remoteness). Being the only eatery around, they could easily up their game a bit and make it "the" place to go, but without any competition to push them, they seem to be content to be average. The menu is basically sandwiches and burgers and fries. We had the double ham & cheese and a double bacon cheeseburger. The food was good for what it was. By the time you get there after snowmobiling all day, you're ravenous, and anything tastes great; but in reality, their food is average. read more
