The food is bland. How can a restaurant mess up Mexican food? I ordered the taco salad the ground beef was seasoned with.... Nothing. A total mess. My wife ordered a margarita with special request to remove the marg mix and use lime juice. It landed on the table as the equivalent of a shot of straight tequila. I can't say enough how amazing the service was here! We were staying in island park doing a tour of Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons and they were close to where we were staying and open till 9 and we came in right at 8. Even late the service was amazing! The inside is bright and clean and sits right by the river with a nice view. The carne asada was good and so was the shrimp quesadilla. The beer Rita's were great! Amazing service. This place was packed with families and large groups. We had a party of 3 and were seated quickly. Our server was friendly and checked on us a few times during the meal. Other staff did too to make sure we were enjoying our meal. I had the enchilada combo plate which was decent. There are not many food options in the area so it was nice to have a sit down restaurant so close to our campground. We have had great food here in the past. However, when we ate here yesterday it was substandard. We had the fajitas with steak. Not very flavorful and the meat was very tough. Beans and rice were okay. Service was okay, nothing special. The music was too loud. It was clean. We had a great time! It was a busy night when we went and it seemed like they had a lot of tables, and even though it took a moment for us to get sat we got helped very quickly and our food came out very fast as well. Less than 10 minutes from being sat to having our food. And it was super delicious! Wasn't steaming hot but still very delicious and good quality. You could tell the team was working hard and it wasn't exactly like how most restaurants are, but we were consistently checked in on and helped. We had a great night. Went there based on people I work with saying how great this place was, I ordered chimichangas with chicken, got it and it was cold on the inside, sent it back, ended up with beef, still cold. Ended up with it taken off my ticket. However the cheese dip was good and so was the margarita. read more

Had a great experience at Cafe Sabor! Our server was amazing and made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. We were greeted with fresh chips and queso right away, and our drinks came out almost instantly after we ordered them. To start: the lady working the front end trying to do three things at once with NO HELP. I ordered a chimichanga, asking it doesn't have any vegetables in it, right? Three beef tacos. One shrimp quesadilla, add hamburger, absolutely no vegetables. And some ceviche. What I got: one shrimp quesadilla, no beef but lots of tomatoes in it, one chimichanga full of peppers, and my ceviche and tacos. Asked for the guacamole in a cup on the side. While there is not a lot of restaurants in island park, this is a good Mexican restaurant. I ordered the shrimp fajitas. Was a big fan of the tortillas, they were thick! The salsa here is on the medium, thick which I loved. Very good service from our waiter. Another cool thing, the have kids eat free night on Mondays. I dig that. The salsa tasted like canned tomato sauce with black pepper thrown in, same with the red sauce. The beans clearly were fresh and untouched from the can. First time I've had mole with peanut butter. Okay then, I'm sure you're wondering how it was. We'll, I wouldn't call it mole, but I liked and was confused by the flavors. It was like eating a light mole with a hint of barbecue sauce and peanut butter. I felt like I was a judge on Beat Bobby Flay when they say it was flavorful, but not quite the intended dish. The complimentary chips and salsa was great. The chips were warm and the salsa had wonderful flavors. We came here as it was one of the few places open late near our lodging. Experience wise this was a bit of a mixed bag. We were a group of 12. When we walked in nobody greeted us for nearly 10 minutes. What's worse is several servers walked by us several times and instead of acknowledging us and letting us know it will be a wait, totally chose to ignore us. I had to go to bar and ask what the deal was before a manager finally made their way over to us and seated us. By the point it wasn't just our group waiting but two others. That knocked a star off for me. Contrast that with our server Isaias who was fantastic. Friendly, funny and making sure we were taken care of he really helped make it a better ending. The food itself was fine. I mean just fine. It wasn't omg this is awesome but good enough. The guac was weirdly coarse, just chopped avocado, not mashed. The queso was great. I had steak and surf and turf tacos with the steak being the better of the two. Most of my group enjoyed their meal well enough that there weren't any complaints. My review is a solid 4.5 stars. But Yelp won't allow half stars. The ambience is interesting, not very Mexican, but very modern and squeaky clean! The restaurant is located right by Henry's Fork River, and the view from the outside tables is absolutely stunning. Service was excellent. They were extremely busy for a Sunday night and our food and drinks came quickly and were clearly fresh. The food is where they lose half stars. I ordered a steak dish and my husband ordered a steak taco and a chicken taco with rice and beans side. Their cilantro rice is delicious, the steak was super flavorful, well seasoned and cooked in a delicious garlic sauce. So far, great, but there was no heat in any of the dishes. Even the salsa verde was mild. Half starts were lost for the lack of heat in the salsa verde, the chips salsa and on the sauces overall. But highly recommend Cafe Sabor. As someone who loves spicy food, I am probably extra picky. read more

initially reviewed Cafe Sabor after a disappointing experience on July 2, 2025, hoping the issues would be resolved, but the situation has only worsened, prompting this update. Our party of 11 was seated at a cramped table, service was slow with no drink refills, and my credit card--used to split the bill--was lost by the staff. After a fruitless 20-minute search, I was promised a review of security footage and a call back, neither of which happened. The loss of my preferred card forced me to report it stolen, replace it, and update multiple autopayments, causing significant inconvenience. The staff initially offered to comp the meal, which seemed fair. However, when I followed up after noticing the full charge still on my account, the manager cited a "misunderstanding" and promised a half-bill refund, assuring me they'd be in touch. As of July 16, 2025, I have received no refund, no call, and no resolution despite multiple attempts to contact the restaurant. Most frustrating is the complete lack of response from the owner, Justin H., who has been elusive throughout this process. This failure to honor commitments or even acknowledge my efforts to resolve the issue is unacceptable. read more

It was my first time trying this place. It didn't disappoint. I visit Island Park/Yellowstone every year and I might make it a tradition to always eat here. I love the location of it. There is also outdoor seating. We got there right as they opened and got seated right away. We had a bigger group and they had a table big enough for all of us. They have really good chips and salsa which is complimentary. We tried the carne asada nachos which were good. They were huge that we couldn't finish them all. I ordered the burrito supreme which was delicious. It was huge that I had leftovers the next day. I will definitely be back. read more

This is one of the few restaurants in town. We were staying at the Springhill hotel which is walking distance. After reading reviews, my expectations were low.
