Mid-scale to up-scale dining. Excellent steak! Three Bear Restaurant at the Lodge was a nice mid-scale to up-scale dining experience. The decor is modern rustic. We felt welcome and well-treated. The menu had some very nice offerings. From their cocktails, we enjoyed a couple of Montana Bucks, a bright sort-of-mule recipe made with smooth Sudden Wisdom Rye, lightly-sweet huckleberry purée, zingy ginger beer, and a dash of tart lime juice. And a huge, double-size Mammoth Manhattan, of nicely-flavored Wyoming Outryder Rye, deep flavors of both sweet & dry vermouth, bitey house-made bitters, and a rich Luxardo cherry. Both were yummy and well-crafted. The best beverage option: A flight of rye whiskies gave us local brands to compare with upscale brands. It was a good range of flavors, and we caught some nice local spirits. One-half ounce each of Michter's Single Barrel, Middle West Dark Pumpernickel, Willett 4 Year, and Wyoming Outryder The winners was Michter's, smooth with intense rye and some fire. Outryder caught our interest more than the other two. This leads us to a "flight" theory: We liked the local spirit that they also use in their craft cocktails! The New Zealand mussels were plump and fresh and well-dressed with grape tomatoes, scallions, wine and lemon. Jerk shrimp had flavorful heat. The Pear & Prosciutto Salad has lovely sweet fruit with thin but bold tender ham. Caesar with added salmon was classic, bright, and fresh. Bison Bourguignon was geneous al-dente pasta with tender sauced meat. The large-grain Cous Cous was rich with sun-dried tomatoes, tangy Kalamata olives, and roasted veggies. The best main dish: The $50 bison ribeye was tender, juicy, and perfectly medium-rare. It was flavorful, with a slightly more caramel note than a beef ribeye. Breakfast so yummy for what I was expecting. I was expecting a flavorless classic eggs with toast and meat. The sausage was amazing and eggs were perfect. Our waitress was so kind. Pancakes were massive and delicious. Pricing was very reasonable for the portions. My only complaint was that the sourdough that comes as a side is not as good as the yummy sourdough that they use for their sandwiches. I wish both were the rustic sourdough. Fun craft cocktails and good food. Very impressed with the Mediterranean hummus and the bison and elk skewers were yummy (could have used a dash more seasoning but tender and very good). Isaac was a fantastic bartender and showed a lot of pride in making good craft cocktails. They were delicious! The Maple old fashioned was delicious as well. Cute place. The hostess that seated us was quite the miserable person tho; no greeting - no hello - just a "you can sit here" Our server, Talon, made up for the hostess and gets 5 Stars. It was buffet only for breakfast when we stopped in. The buffet had some fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, some type of quiche, pastries an assortment of breads. Plus, sausage and gravy and pancakes. I think I saw someone with smoked salmon on their plate; but I didn't see it on the buffet line (probably all gone by the time we walked thru). It was a nice variety of foods; but it wasn't very good tasting and wasn't hot by any stretch of the imagination. The fruit was probably the best thing we sampled. $17.95 was a bit much for boring, mildly warm, food. Seems like most people dining at Three Bears had coupons from the adjacent hotel. Plenty of options to choose from (we only came here for breakfast). Our breakfast voucher from the lodge covered up to $10 on the menu and a drink. Our breakfast items ranged from English muffin breakfast sammies, breakfast burritos, western omelette, huckleberry pancakes, biscuits and gravy, etc. They did have a breakfast buffet for $14.95 advertised as one of the options one day. Even with short staffing, it took less than 45 minutes from sitting, ordering, to finishing. The restaurant was never full most days and the bear decor cute. We stopped here during our cross-country move before our trip to Yellowstone the next day. We were very pleasantly surprised! This was one of the only places that had vegetarian options in an area full of BBQ/burger restaurants. My partner got the bison burger and enjoyed it; I got the marinara pasta and the eggplant fries with aioli. I highly recommend the eggplant fries; they reminded me of the zucchini fritters my mom would make growing up. ( 3.5 Stars ) Alright experience I had at the Three Bear Restaurant. The ambiance within the restaurant is very cozy with plenty of seatings for all families to enjoy. The service was alright, nothing bad, but nothing great. I had placed an online order through the phone and the employee who answered the phone was not too mean or friendly, more of a neutral attitude. When I arrived at the restaurant, the employees were attentive with everything I needed. The only downside was the wait, which took about 40-45 minutes to make 3 meals. I personally had ordered the Cajun Chicken Pasta w/ tomato soup & garlic bread, and it was great. The Cajun Chicken was deliciously breaded and cooked, and the pasty was good as well. The garlic bread was perfectly buttery and tasted great when dipped inside the tomato soup. I'm not sure when I'll return to the West Yellowstone area, but if I do, I will be visiting here again. read more

We are the 02/21/26 as we had dinner there last year and loved it. This year we had the prime rib. The meat was tasteless other than the end cap with spices. They served it with burnt black asparagus that we couldn't eat. We had to ask for horseradish and butter for our bake potatoes. The smell may be luring but the meal fell flat. The steak was pricey for being very fatty and lacking flavor. My husband was disgusted by his meal. I have thoughts about places that serve a baked potato and doesn't take the time to lob on butter and sour cream. Instead it was served (at a high cost) with butter packets and sour cream packets. Kevin was our waiter. He was friendly and explained the food options. The food came out really fast! And even though he was busy he kept checking in with us. We tried the soup of the day... cauliflower something. It was good. The best part was the bison ribeye. It was done med well (more medium) and was flavorful. I had the chicken and mashed potatoes. The chicken portion was larger than expected. The mashed potatoes were homemade and I love that it is full of potato chunks. We ended with an apple Brown Betty. It's huge! Second day breakfast on our trip here. My husband liked the food better than where we went yesterday. My veggie omelette was really good. Somehow moist but not yolk or anything. It was probably all the vegetables sweating inside it and being cooked and yummy. It was interesting to read the history of the restaurant and lodge on the back of the menu. My husband got the country fried steak with scrambled eggs, hash browns and a biscuit. He loved his food and my omelette when he tried it. We may be back before we leave. So I can say that we have been to all the restaurants in west Yellowstone and this is by far the best. If I am not mistaken, this is the only restaurant with a classically trained chef. And what a great job Ryan does. This place went from a zero to awesome in a year thanks to Ryan and his great leadership. There is a breakfast buffet served every morning that includes fresh fruit, smoked salmon, assorted pastries eggs, bacon, and sausage or ham and more. Chef Ryan has opted to do a breakfast special every morning in addition to the regular menu and the buffet. How great. The crab, Asparagus, and Brie is great. There is a nightly dinner special as well that changes every night. Lamb shanks are to die for.chef Ryan will not prepare anything that is frozen so you know that it is fresh. Every evening there are fresh munchies served in the bar that are free. Go figure free food! A real treat and always great. This is a must stop place and you can't go wrong. How many places have the chef walking out talking to the customers and getting their feed back I highly recommend this restaurant. So when you see chef Ryan tell him I recommended it. The burger while being warm seemed like it was quickly put together. Like one of those dishes that they make a bunch of and have just ready to go. I wanted Dessert first but I got it second. We had the opportunity to visit the three bear restaurant on several occasions, breakfast and dinner. The breakfast menu is complete, but what really stands out is the size of the portions. They are large, very flavorful, and prepared quickly. The most important thing is that breakfast will last for a full day of activities in Yellowstone park For dinner, we had the elk and bison meatloaf, a wonderful combination and delicious. The other item we had was the bison ribeye, I found this to be on par with some of the best ribeyes I've had before, and would highly recommend either dish. I know some people have complained of the prices in West Yellowstone or hi, we found us not to be the case. In fact, the three bear restaurant provide you the best food for the buck in town. So we went there twice. Waiter was outstanding and so was services. I had a stuffed pork tenderloin which had cramp and apple tasted like thanksgiving in a bite.
