Overall the place had good food in West Yellowstone. The burgers were big and very unique and good. My wife got a spinach salad with mixed greens instead of spinach. That was okay but would've been nice to be told. Finally, we asked for takeout, they charged a 10% gratuity for it. I don't think I've ever been charged for take out. It would've been nice if they would have communicated before taking the order. With the credit card surcharge we paid 13% of the bill in these fees which was almost as much as the kids cheeseburger. The burger was massive and delicious. It came with fries that were cooked and probably seasoned. I enjoyed the house salad which was bigger then I had anticipated. The blue cheese dressing could've used a bit more of a flavor kick but still tasty. I was disappointed with the sprite as all I tasted was setlzer but hey these things happen when your feeding hungry people. The staff was quick and pleasant and we were served hot food.. One wall of the restaurant had a slide show on the life of President Roosevelt and I absolutely enjoyed that. So my overall opinion of this place is very high. Would I eat here again you ask? Excellent burgers! We tried the President, Rancher and a San Juan bison burger. Each of us were more than satisfied! We sat outside (we had dogs with us). Our waitress was helpful and friendly. An umbrella gave us shade from the sun and we could enjoy the beautiful weather. These are not cheap fast food burgers, but you can taste the quality! I came here a few years ago and this place was great! Apparently things have changed... Absolutely the saltiest meal I have ever eaten! I had the brat and fries; practically inedible. The beer was almost flat as well. And the waitress was terrible! After waiting a while for her to show up. Apparently anything better to do than serve food. I learned some things I didn't know eating here. Great variety of burgers themed after different parts of President Roosevelt's life. They have bison burger patties if you want to try that. The menu was wide ranging with many salad choices, different kinds of burgers and lovely local beer. We shared the pretzel sticks with beer cheese sauce and fried pickles and both were terrific! I had a salad that upon my request, was served with a bison burger. It was cooked perfectly. Also- I recommend the lime vinaigrette. I ordered the Huckleberry Hefesweizen. Huckleberry is a local fruit-- I have fallen in love with all things Huckleberry while visiting Yellowstone. The great thing about this beer was that the Huckleberry was nuanced and it didn't try to hit you on the head with a sweet flavor. I would buy this beer if they had it in Nebraska. Food quality is easily 5/5, but the prices push my overall rating to 4/5. We ordered one American Burger and one Frontier Sheriff, upgrading the latter to bison for an extra $5.50. Both were a generous size, and the side fries were excellent. I'd skip the salad unless you're really craving greens. We enjoyed both burgers. They didn't ask for a preferred doneness on the patties, but they were cooked very well regardless. The bison patty was especially impressive--juicy and not dry at all. My Frontier Sheriff came drenched in beer cheese sauce (a win for any cheese lover), which made it harder to judge the patty on its own, but the sauce itself was delicious. The only real miss was the beer-battered onion ring, which was almost nonexistent. The American Burger was simple, classic, and very satisfying. I also liked the buns; they felt somewhere between brioche and white bread, soft but sturdy enough to complement the enormous patties. Service was pleasant and friendly. Older lady hostess was so rude and unprofessional. Are restaurants in the area that desperate for quality help? We came in with a party of nine and the lady wouldn't move two tables together. There were several areas where open tables were next to each other. She just continued to argue with several members of our party and wouldn't stop. Stopped by TR's after a long day at Yellowstone, and this place DELIVERED!! They had a fluke plumbing incident when we stopped by, but even with indoor seating closed, the owners were incredibly accommodating and kind. They made every effort to ensure we were comfortable and well cared for. You don't see that kind of service much these days, and it made us all the more eager to support such a wonderful establishment. The outdoor patio was entirely inviting, full of great vibes. The food had tremendous flavor, and the family consensus was that these were some of the best burgers we've had to date. We can't say enough great things about TR's. My daughter had the kids Mac and cheese and said it was good. She was a bit nervous at first but relieved in the end. Vibes were a 10/10, food was pretty solid, the servers were really nice, but service was REALLY slow. A family of four sitting next to us waited 50 minutes just for fries and another 15 minutes to get their burgers. We came in with a larger party (11) so it's understandable that our food took longer but we still waited 40 minutes for salads to come out and another 20 for the burgers to come. When the salads came they were missing the chicken and they had no crispy jalapeño like the menu advertised. Half of our fries were room temperature and half were piping hot. I think people who got the burgers were very satisfied, but everything just took a long time. They were clearly short staffed that day but they didn't warn us when we came in that service would be slow, or check in with us after we were seated to explain their situation. I'm still giving 4 stars since I think this was just an off day, I'd still recommend this place and come back next time *menu has changed from the ones shown in other posts* read more

After 11 hours in Yellowstone, I was tired, sore, and hungry. The last two restaurants I tried had long lines (or just straight up ignored me), so I tried TR's Burgers. Good news: I was immediately seated. Bad news: It was one of those high chairs with tiny seats. At this point, I just wanted to eat and leave; so, I asked the waiter to bring me the fried mac and cheese and the Frontier Sheriff with bison meat to go. Probably should have been concerned when the waiter didn't ask me how I'd like my burger cooked. Price tag: ~$44. The meal was brought out pretty quickly, which is good; because the seat was super uncomfortable and it was hot in there. When I open my bag, I discover they have forgotten my fries. Awesome: a $26.50 burger a la carte. The fried mac and cheese was decent, but the burger was lame. Overcooked, flavorless, completely covered in insipid cheese sauce. I barely had anything to eat today, and I still had to force myself to finish the burger. I have no idea why this place has good reviews. Bad and overcooked burgers, super high prices, uncomfortable setting, and they forgot my fries. I guess they don't make you wait for a table like every other restaurant in West Yellowstone, so there's that. read more

Wow, wow, wow!!! This has to be one of my top favorite burgers of all time! The quality of the meat and flavor was sooooo good. I ordered it without the sauce it came with and added garlic aioli on the side. If you can't due certain sauces due to diet restrictions, the burger itself was so juicy (not greasy) and flavorful that it honestly didn't need it. Everything else in the photo is what the burger came with, which is great because I really like toppings. The fries were also really good... crunchy but not greasy. 10/10. The only con was the price point, but that's about it. Ps. I have to note that even though we arrived maybe 30min before closing, after a long day at Yellowstone, they did not disappoint one bit. Had lunch here while visiting in Aug. Small place just slightly 'off the beaten path' - (ie just down the street from all of the other restaurants in town). The burgers are huge but creative and delicious!! We started with the garlic cheese curds served with huckleberry dipping sauce. Would have been even better if normal (not garlic) but they were still good. The burgers were cooked perfectly. My Mom and I split the Conservationist and it was really yummy - only thing that would have made it better would have been caramelized onions. My husband had the Frontier Sheriff - also gigantic but so so tasty. The service was fine. We ate inside which was actually fine with us - it was HOT out!
