Short walk down to the beach (~1 mile from trail head). Great views of the sound. Large open area with a shelter for picnics.

This was on my list for a few years. I finally went last year and now it's one of my favorite short local hikes. There's a bit of hill but I even with a bad knee I do fine as long as I take it slow on that portion. With lush beautiful woods leading down to the sound its easy to forget you're right in suburbia. There are lots of dogs and families on the path - basically a great hike for all ages. There is a small picnic area with covered tables and toilets when you get down to the water. 9 am and the parking lot is packed.. that should explain how great this place is! Only negative of this place is the lack of parking! There's room for about 20 cars I think? I'll update it with a solid number later. I've been here before with my girlfriend for the hike down to the beach; a nice activity on a warm sunny day. The grade is moderate, definitely not easy. The trails are well groomed with most of it being dirt and heavy gravel in some spots. The trail although grueling at times is worth it once you get to the end. There's a nice beach at the end where you can relax and have some lunch if you came prepared. I'll come back and update this review when I come again. The last time I was here, it was pouring rain and I didn't complete the entire trail as I as surveying the plants and trees along the first quarter mile of the trail. Came here for a hike through the beautiful woody forest to descend down to the beach. The beach was beautiful - unlike anything I have experienced in California! So very relaxing on a warm sunny day. The hike down to the beach is steep at times and can be slippery so wear proper shoes! The descent is well worth it and the wading through several cold creek water to enter the beach. Bring a towel, you may need it. read more

The trail down to the beach was very pretty and surrounded by trees. It's not long or short but the walk down was steeper than I had assumed (converse are not the right shoes to wear). The beach has scattered logs to sit on and it's pretty long so you're never by a lot of people, which is nice. Overall a super fun experience, took a lot of pictures and definitely going back. read more

One of my favorites. You feel like you are in the wilderness, birds singing, the rustling of the stream making its way to the Sound. (This is not the Ocean. Even though it is salt water with tidal action, Puget Sound is an inland Sea.) The reviews are spot on. Best of all, the little tunnel under the R/R tracks is now updated with a grate so you don't need to even get your feet wet anymore. This is a Gem. The parking lot is an issue though. Do not attempt to go on a nice Sunday afternoon. Parking is at least several blocks away and very limited. read more

Love taking my pup here on weekends :) 1 mile down-hill walk to a BBQ area, open grass field, and through a tunnel to the beach. The 1 mile up-hill walk is a good workout on the way back! The parking lot gets very full though and there is no parking allowed on the streets nearby so it's best if you can just walk here. read more

My husband and I did this short urban hike based on the reviews, and while the area was quite pretty and could have been peaceful, it was very crowded. We encountered a number of people on the trails, most of them unfriendly, many with rowdy children, and every dog we saw was off-leash. More than one person was wearing tons of perfume/cologne that lingered after we passed, many were wearing headphones and using cellphones. We found when we arrived that access to the beach was closed to the public, but walked the trail anyway, only to be disappointed by the lack of respect and kindness fellow trail-users shared. This might be ok if it's your only option but it's absolutely worth the drive to get further out where you can do a real hike shared with others who "get it." read more

The beach itself is beautiful and sooo peaceful on any given day, well maybe except a stormy day. The walk down is a breeze, but it's the walk back to the car that can get me. Most days I am able to get up with ease, but still breathing hard. I am not complaining, it's a fun little urban hike. As some other reviewers have said, some parts of the trail heading down/up can get pretty narrow so it does cause for awkward moments when you're trying to pass people by or whatever. The walk down and up is beautiful with lots of green forest and growth. The path is well maintained! There is a sweet old man that cleans up the path with his rake, and shovel. Sometimes he brings his little orange pomperanian. He's always a joy to encounter and very friendly, I am talking about the man, but the dog is very sweet too! People are so friendly and seem to say hi every time we pass them. The beach area is clean, and nice little areas to just sit and reflect, meditate, chat with your companion, or just chill. The walk from the parking lot to the beach and back up is 2.5 miles. Love this little hidden gem, it is so nice that this place is literally in my back yard!! read more

For a little more difficulty its great. Not stroller friendly at all. Plenty of stop areas. Take your time and enjoy the beauty. Once you finally get to the beach enjoy all the play area. Be careful on the tracks but you can even see the Edmonds ferry. My tot my 6 year old and my brothers dog all enjoyed it. We had a great time each time. Definately go when weather is great. There are porta potties. read more

a wonderful beach. try hiking through the trails by parking the car all the way up top. then for an hour... asking yourself, "why the hell did i do this? i haven't worked out in years... my body was NOT ready for this... why!!!!!???" your friends will laugh at your for polluting your body for all those years with booze, smokes, and junk food. you snicker at them for 2 miles until you reach the beach. that's when you realize.... this was soooo worth it. there's a great grassy area for volleyball, badminton, soccer, and picnics. there's bbq grills and roofed picnic tables. you walk under a small bridge and you're whisked away to the shore. it's clean and a retreat. this is where we have birthday parties, water fights, and bbq's. such a great location and it's not so far out of the way. =) read more

Horrible parking and not a stroller friendly trail. If bringing kids, take a hiking backpack or an ergo (or something similar). The day we went there were a ton of people so we parked in one of the neighborhoods nearby. After seeing someone else's review about cars getting broken into, we may not even bother going back. It would be nice to check out so we can actually make it all the way down to the beach though. read more

It is a long hike down to the beach but the hike is a good one with a nicely built trail. The hike is definitely worth it once you get down there. It's not crowded probably because of the hike, but that makes it even better because you know it will be relaxing when you get there. The walk back is all uphill so be prepared for some good exercise! read more

This is such a cool place, it's like being far away in the woods when you are right in the city. It's a nice 1 mile trail down to the sound. There is an open grassy picnic area by the beach where the kids can run around. They have a volleyball sand pit and a box of sports balls to play with. The walk back up is a little bit uphill so save some energy or bring a big dog to help pull you up. read more

It is a wonderful place. The views are incredible and the park trails are very nice. To access the beach, prepare to wade through a tunnel that is sometimes filled with water. You may need water boots during wet seasons. It is worth it because the beach is remarkable, especially at sunset. read more

Amazing place. It's only a mile or so down to the beach, and the hike back up is actually decent! The beach is rocks but small, round ones, so it doesn't hurt to sit on them. Best hike in everett. read more

A beautiful wide trail to a lovely beach. There is a picnic area before you reach the train tracks and beyond that is the beach. The walk there is all down hill and a good 20 min workout on the way back up. We had no trouble finding parking with several spots open at 6pm on a Wednesday evening in the middle of summer. read more

My partner and I stumbled upon this little gem of a park last weekend and I am so glad we did! The trail is shaded with beautiful trees, and runs next to a refreshing stream. The descent down can be steep in places, and certainly makes for a more challenging walk back, but the short distance makes it totally doable (even for an asthmatic person such as myself). The trail terminates at a little greenery area with some picnic shelters and a volleyball net. Unfortunately, the tunnel that goes to the beach is only passable in the dry months unless you are willing to get your feet wet. Overall the trail is around 2.5 miles round trip and provides just enough exercise and nature access to justify hitting up a happy hour post hike! read more

My favorite walk hike this close to Seattle. The tunnel to the beach was closed for the first half of 2010 so as not to disturb some salmon eggs. News flash: we were here on a gorgeous day in mid-May and saw the ranger opening the gate back up! Summer is here. But the Fish and Wildlife Service apparently won't let them replace the wooden walkway until June, so you may have to wade in some cold creek water until then. read more

I loooove this park!! The first time i went there, I wasn't prepared for the extent or the length of the walk. I had flip flops on and wasn't quite sure were the beach was or how long the walk down was. After about 15 minutes going steadily downhill, I realized how ill prepared I was and turning around and looking up, I figured out I was going to have an awkward time going back up the hill. I tried not to think about it, but after asking a passerby where the beach was and how long it was going to take, I realized I made a huge mistake. But the beautiful scenery-I was surrounded by huge Evergreens and just lovely foilage everywhere, I couldn't turn around. After about 3 miles, we finally hit the beach-it was beautiful! Walking down through the trees, I couldn't even imagine what a beautiful sight was waiting at the end. The beach was endless and there were no buildings or anything to obstruct the view. The long walk was well worth this wonderful reward at the end. Now the walk back was like a walk in hell! It's almost a 90 degree angle to get back to parking. Walking in flip flops made it ten times as worse!!! But I made it, there's even a little rest spot halfway to the top that is good for us who aren't used to walking like this!! This is great exercise and the reward at the end of the end of the trees is well worth it. Kids love it, as well as animals. read more

I've lived right down the road from this beach trail park for almost 12/13 years now and this still is one of my favorite places to visit around the Lynnwood area. The trail is around 1.5 miles all downhill on the way to the beach (but also uphill on the way back) with some straight walk ways too. It's a great way to get exercise and get away from the stress in life. The scenery on the way down to the beach is peaceful and gorgeous with a forest and river surrounding the trail. If you are looking for a running trail or a trail to enjoy a peaceful walk on this is the one for you! And common, there's a beach at the end, where the train goes by, with beautiful water and sand! I love coming here in the spring and summer especially with friends. Additionally there is a big space for a barbecue before you reach the beach part, as well as horseshoes and a volleyball outdoors set-up with a big field surrounding it that is great for celebrations and hanging out with friends and family. Meadowdale Park! Yaaaay. This was the very first little hike I did with my new red heeler puppy. It was a real treat. I have lived in the area for 6 years, but only found out about this well-hidden place by reading the "Best Hikes Near Seattle" book. This is a great day-hike for when the weather is too crummy to go to the mountains. The trail is well maintained, and at the beach, if you walk a little bit north toward the jetty, there is an off-leash area for your fido. Give it a go, especially on a weekday when it's not as busy. read more

Had a great time with my wife and kids at this beach. The hike on the way up and down was amazing. The beach was not crowded at all. Had a good time playing around in the water with the kids which was usually warm from I was told from talking to people down there. This place is a true treasure. I love this park and really do not know where to begin. I was looking for a new place to take my daughter and lady for a nice nature walk. Thanks to Yelp and the awesome reviews from my fellow Yelpers, we decided to check out this park. We instantly fell in love. The walk through the forest is so peaceful and we enjoyed hearing all of the birds chirp and the calming sounds of he streams that flow through the forest. The beach at the end is the cherry on top. Great Local Hike! My 3 almost 4 year old son Bradley hiked the whole thing both down and up. One minor water crossing to get to the beach but there was some blanks to walk across so that we didn't have to get wet. Lots of people today and parking was difficult on a beautiful holiday like Memorial Day. Overall was very enjoyable! read more

Despite what the sign says - at least on 7/31/16 - you CAN get to the beach..you just have to "walk the plank" at the tunnel under the tracks. Not a bad hike but ALL uphill (and sometimes a bit steep) for the last good bit so if you are older or out of shape be prepared. Nice area for picnic and play but you have to pack eveything the entire way. Not a lot of parking at the trail head but if you score a parking spot a nice hike. read more

Love this park! I go jogging here almost every morning. It's covered by many trees, so the air always smells fresh and like true nature. It's a mile to get to the beach and a mile getting back, so not too crazy. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good morning hike, or afternoon. read more

It is truly an explorer's delight, the hike is about 2.5 miles round trip through lush green trail, sound of birds chirping and water streams. The Park leads to a tunnel that has access to the beach. The tunnel was flooded when we were there but we still managed to cross it and enjoy the breath taking views on the beach. A must do hike for all Hikers and Explorers out there. Wear good Hiking shoes and carry flip flops in your backpack to enjoy the beach, don't forget your camera! read more
