My husband and I stayed at Meadowood for a long weekend in May and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The service throughout the weekend was incredibly attentive. They have a real knack for knowing what you are going to need before you ask for it. Our room was comfortable and had a sitting room with wood burning fireplace and a large bathroom with an enormous bathtub. Our first morning we took advantage of the group exercise in the gym and did a hike around the property on our second morning. The gym was very well equipped and the group class was held in a large room next to the gym. We partook in the spa services on Friday afternoon and had a deeply relaxing massage after using the spa/sauna. We only went to the restaurant for breakfast in the morning but the dining room is very sleek and glass enclosed and the food was delicious. I could've sworn I reviewed this resort, but now I don't see my review?? I've stayed here several times, and again very recently. Always have enjoyed my overall stay here. I really like coming up here at peak times. Memorial Day weekend, crush season, peak of summer. You name it. People visit from all over the world and stay here. We've me so many nice people just at the pool, visiting from literally all over. A popular staycation for locals too. Always well maintained grounds. It's such a nice resort that you really don't even need to leave the property. Just get massages, lay by the pool, and eat and eat. My way of living the life, lol. Staff is always so pleasant and helpful. No complaints here. Rooms are fine and clean, but must say, they're getting dated. I just think that given the higher price point, I'd prefer to stay at a resort with more modern furnishing. Tho I did enjoy the bathroom. Maybe that was done fairly recently? Not sure. This review is for the spa only. I rarely give 5 star ratings out, and this place deserves it. I am a local and did not stay as a guest. I booked a spa day here to celebrate my birthday in the summer (July 2022). Meadowood Spa is synonymous with high class. The spa staff was super helpful and patient when I called asking questions about their offerings and when I booked with them over the phone. The treatment you receive here is top tier. SPA SET UP: Separate men's and women's locker rooms/lounge areas. Women's outdoor spa area included dry sauna, wet sauna, cold plunge pool, lounge chairs w/ umbrellas, outdoor showers, "snack" area with teas, water, light snacks. Outdoor spa area is clothing optional I think. Massages are done in private suites, there is a door that looks like its just part of the wall that opens up and there is a private bathroom with shower and toilet. I did not choose the option that includes use of the shower with aromatherapy, but was able to briefly freshen up in the bathroom after my massage. Tree House Suite: wow, it has a fire place, a small table with snack and water, hot water machine for tea/coco, chairs, the most gorgeous tub, no glass windows but a window without a seal, so you get fresh air. I want to live in the Tree House Suite. LOCKER ROOM: showers, lockers, basic grooming supplies (toothbrush, hair ties, mouth wash etc) SPA SERVICES I DID: 90 min Curated Massage ($260) 30 min Tree House Milk Bath ($120) The massage was amazing, the room was amazing, the therapist was awesome. I've had many massages at different places, and this place had a massage table that was different and better than all the rest. The milk bath was the most bougie experience of my life. 20% gratuity is automatically added to your bill for the massage. I also asked for their lunch menu, and ordered an overpriced but decent caesar salad (could have been better for $20) and they brought it out on a tray for me and I ate it in the outdoor lounge area. They sent me home with a little bag, a card that said happy bday, and a tiny aromatherapy eucalyptus shower spray! Nice touch. I spent around $540 for my spa day, really utilized the amenities and laid out for a good amount of time before and after my treatment (you have use of the amenities all day the day of your treatment), and it was money well spent. 10/10! I'm not sure how the outdoor lounge area is in the colder seasons, but it was so nice during summer. TLDR: if you want to spoil yourself (as you should), be prepared to spend a lot, and enjoy every minute because it is worth it! I highly recommend booking a Tree House suite experience! read more

Probably one of my fav stays in the wine countries. The tranquility really helps you relax, from the moment you drive into the property. The room we stayed in felt like an independent cabin in the woods, we hardly saw anyone nearby during our entire stay. Granted it was the winter but I think overall their layout helps with privacy. We enjoyed the afternoon wine / cookie gatherings. Chatted with some very friendly people who had been coming for years. Breakfast was great as well, wholesome and tasty. We tried their spa too and I have to say it's the highlight for me. Both the massage and facial I received were top notch, they even packed me gifts for my birthday. Not the same post the Glass fire which destroyed a significant portion of the property, the main compound & golf course. The cottages are nice. But it felt like just a bunch of cottages in the woods without the vistas from the main building. Service was excellent, but we only dealt with the valet & the person who checked us in with an iPad in our room. The cottages could benefit from remodeling. The shower was huge but had only one shower head & it was not a removable one. The toilet is right next to the bathtub versus being in a stand alone enclosed room. The bathroom was not bright enough and there were no lights in the shower nor over the bath tub. The TV was mounted such that it was not visible straight on from the bed nor couch, so you have to turn your head to watch tv. The fire place lacked an auto starter switch. The room price is at pre-fire rates which doesn't make sense. At that price there are many better alternatives. It's not quite a 3 star. More like 2.50 - 2.75 stars. read more

My husband and I just spent two nights at Meadowood and it was amazing. It was our first time there and we're so glad we picked Meadowood for our anniversary trip. We stayed in an Oakview room which had a great view and was so peaceful. The cabana pool was perfect and the service was wonderful. Sadly,they lost ~40% of their property in the 2020 fire, but what they're doing is fantastic. No full restaurant yet - one is opening this fall. The cabins require walking up a lot of stairs, but they are very quiet. You don't share any walls with people. The patios look out into the serene woods. It's so peaceful here. The rooms are large and comfortable. There are 3 pools and while they can get a little loud on the weekends, during the week they too are very quiet and relaxing. The poolside cafe food is fantastic. The staff here is the best trained staff I've seen since The Four Seasons. Everyone is friendly, waved hello at you, and will answer any question or help you with whatever you need. My family and I just returned from a four-night stay at Meadowood. This was our first "real" vacation after spending the past two years close to home. It was a fantastic re-entry into the world of travel. The resort is absolutely breathtaking and while another reviewer mentioned the damage done by the 2020 fire, it's difficult to imagine something better than what we experienced (minus the fact that the famed restaurant was closed). We each felt like we were staying in a private, gorgeously-appointed, luxury cottage. Each room (our party stayed in two different Treeline Suites and two different Oakview rooms ) had something special to offer. Our room (a Treeline suite) overlooked the olive trees and vineyards that line the road leading up to the property - which provided some pretty spectacular views. From the concierge to the bellmen to the groundskeeping staff to housekeeping to the phone operators to the in-room dining staff to the staff at the spa - everyone - and I mean: EVERYONE was nothing short of amazing. During a pandemic when most in the travel industry are struggling to find employees- Meadowood is staffed with superstars. They really do go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and like a VIP. That's great all of the time, but it's really appreciated when traveling can feel a bit precarious. If you want a self-contained resort that is very close to some of the best wineries and restaurants in Napa - Meadowood is the place to go. We've visited Napa and Sonoma many times and have always enjoyed the hotels we've stayed in - Meadowood is next-level. Now that I know just how great it is, we won't be staying elsewhere. read more

Yeah it's basically as amazing as you would expect, and really just not sure how it could be better. Came here for 2 nights on a corporate boondoggle and just an awesome place. Everyone working here is very pleasant and helpful and tries to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Plus when we showed up in the morning they had just put out fresh cookies and cider and they had me hooked right then. The rooms are nice little suites with a very comfy sitting room, nice sized bathrooms and comfy as all hell beds. I dId have to sleep in the middle bed cause one side had a noticeable divot due to overuse but still really comfy. I was woken up each morning by acorn woodies in the tree right outside my room which I loved even if they woke me up before I was ready, hard to beat those acorn woodies doing there thing right by your room. The property is just amazing and even though I was up until 130am drinking wine from the 90s one night I still got up each day to do the hike around the property with amazing sunrises and birds all around. Stellar's Jays among with hairy and downy woodpeckers greeted me while I hiked/ran around the property, and since it was January I had the place to myself on all the trails. Can't say enough good things about the Meadowood, we had a dinner in one of the private rooms and food was kick ass amazing as well as service. Can't wait to come back, and while summer has got to be sweet here with the croquet and golf and generally warmer, winter is amazing too, definitely won't be disappointed. read more

Rooms are gorgeous stand alone cabins that each have private wooden decks, fireplace, sunken bathtub, huge shower, vaulted ceilings and windows everywhere. Our room had lovely views and just the most tranquil feel. Rooms are pretty spread out and many are far from everything but they will pick you up and shuttle you all over the property in nice vehicles. Pebble pathways make walking in heels a little hard. There are a lot of stairs that lead to the cabins-be prepared to walk or climb stairs! Delicious hot apple cider and cookies in the reception area every day. Your choice of newspapers delivered to your room every morning Food is expensive as heck though. Romance schmomance weekend getaway. Let me preface by saying that there's nothing more annoying than couples PDAing over social networks like FB. "Honey buns, pookie wookie misses you..." "Noooo, pookie wookie...honey buns misses you more." For Christ sakes, don't you people have Gchat or text? This was annoying when I was single and still annoys me to this day so I promise to limit the use of annoying PDA descriptors and pet names in this review. As our one year anniversary was approaching, Snookums said, I mean Mr. NSS said, he had a couple of surprises in store for us. One night, however, as he was showing me his phone, I started to chuckle as I read, "Call Meadowood to confirm reservations". Anniversary Surprise FAIL. Yah, he spent the whole weekend beating himself about that but promised there was more surprises in store. I soon figured out he also had made dinner reservations at Three Michelin Star Meadowood (review to come) and scheduled a couples massage. Anniversary Surprise EPIC FAIL. A valiant effort considering Mr. NSS had never made a single reservation before meeting me; so he claims. Going in, I knew that Meadowood was a 5 star resort, however, I have never experienced a 5 star resort like this. Boosting over 250 acres, Meadowood is an AHHH-MAZING resort tucked away on a hillside. Clusters of private bungalows are scattered throughout the resort and there's seven tennis courts, a croquet lawn, hiking trails, swimming pool, health spa and private wine tastings. The resort itself is not Vegas glamorous but it's luxuriously comfortable and perfect for a relaxing yet indulgent getaway. The staff and the hospitality exuded is epitome of first class. We're no millionaires (unless le boss decides to gives me a million dollar raise) but Meadowood made us feel like one for the weekend. If Yelp had a 10 star rating scale, Meadowood would earn every one of those stars. ~ * ~CHECK-IN~ * ~ * Check-in is at 4 pm and they even called at 3:50 pm to let us know our bungalow was ready. After checking in, Keith came to help us with our luggage. He brought us to our bungalow AND showed us its amenities AND went over the resort map with us. Dear Restaurant at Meadowood, Thank you for the amazing experience I had for my birthday celebration! I am extremely pleased to say that Meadowood comes in as number 1 on my top three; best restaurants I've ever been to! We enjoyed a 1994 Opus one and the amazing 2005 Screaming Eagle; of which I will say I did prefer the 1994 Opus more. Our group of 4 each ordered the course meal and everyone picked different dishes from your menu. Needless to say, we all were beyond pleased with each course. The service we experienced was impeccable. I've been to countless Michelin star restaurants and I will say the Restaurant at Meadowood goes far beyond any other Michelin restaurant I've been to. Wow, wow and more WOW. I can't afford to stay at the Meadowood estate. I can't afford to be a member. I can't even afford to eat at their restaurant but you know what? I CAN afford to eat at their grill and a damn good grill it is. I have been there twice now, both with a large group of friends and with a date and it has not disappointed. I would normally balk at paying $12 for a hamburger but this one was worth every cent. Another thing that I hate to admit? I loved the hand soap in their restroom. It was some English brand that I had never heard of. They had it locked down otherwise I would have put it in my cargo pants. This place is a blast to go to when the weather is nice. IF you sit outside you can overlook the golf course and the croquet field. It's a very quiet spot and I would absolutely recommend it as a place to bring a date you actually want to talk to. We stayed at the meadowood for 2 nights in December and our stay was so Magical. The room contained a wood-burning fireplace where staff kept it refilled throughout our stay. Their attention to detail is very commendable!! The food here is also the best out of all of our luxury Napa retreats. I don't need to rave anymore about the three star Michelin on site. If you stay anywhere else in Napa Valley, you are short changing yourself. Meadowood is the top tier of luxury in this region, and the price is well worth the impeccable service, accommodations, and amenities. The property is so enormous and dreamy that it feels as though you are in a different country. The resort contains two restaurants (one of which has Three Michelin Stars), golf, tennis, and croquet courses, a pool, elaborate spa, guest-only hiking trails, and more. We stayed for 3 nights in one of the Estate Cottages ($1100/night), which was secluded and private. Our driver told us that Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom stayed in our room recently. The room was beautiful, with high vaulted ceilings, a fireplace, huge bathtub with separate shower (and an outdoor shower!), the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, and a spacious patio with a gorgeous forest view. Perfect for a romantic getaway. We ordered room service for lunch one day, and everything was as tasty as it was nicely presented. I was pleased to find many vegetarian options on the menu, including a Beyond Burger. I highly recommend the Baby Beets. All of the staff we encountered were genuinely gracious, efficiently assisting with anything we needed. Car service from our room to The French Laundry? Turn down service while we hiked? Golf cart ride to the spa? Everything felt so effortless, as it should when you are on vacation. We look forward to returning. read more

(1) Pool: The pool has two options -- one of which is overrun with children -- the other of which has lap lanes set up like a local YMCA. The photos on the website are deceiving -- I've posted what I'm looking at right now. Come on man. (2) Rooms: After being told at check-in that my room wouldn't be overlooking a parking lot, it is, indeed, overlooking a parking lot. Some may enjoy the craftsman style of the lodging -- in my opinion it's a margin-saving exercise to avoid updating the interior. Consider that the bath/shower are still combined -- someone that has an issue with climbing into a tub to shower should be advised, as should anyone who is expecting an updated bathroom setup. (3) Service: When I arrived, all I wanted was a ride down to the pool (don't expect to necessarily have your room near the pool or gym) -- after waiting 5 minutes and calling twice, it finally came. This wasn't a one time thing: again -- as I'm writing this, I'm waiting ~10 minutes to get back to my room from the pool. Come on man. (4) Gym: They did the best they could -- but the gym is in a tent. Shouldn't that be on the website though? The only indication that the gym is in a tent is a description online that it's "temporary." Come on man. Isn't this is supposed to be a 5-star, R&C property? Please. The hotel is just fine, but it does not deserve to be in that category. Period, no comma. Save your money. Stay elsewhere. read more

"A bunch of little things" is how my husband describes what Meadowood did right when we visited for his 30th birthday. My husband loves wine and good food, so it was on his bucket list to visit the Restaurant at Meadowood. During our stay, we ate at the restaurant, walked on the grounds, enjoyed breakfast in bed and took in the scenery. On the first day of our arrival, we called ahead to let them know we were running several hours early, and they made a point to get our suite cleaned and ready so that we could nap after traveling. When we arrived in the suite, they had a bottle of wine to wish my husband a happy birthday. Each night, while we were out, they came into our rooms, turned down our beds and left us little snacks or goodies along with a very helpful schedule for the next day. The resort goes above and beyond in many of the ways you would expect one to at this price point, but in addition, they do little simple things that take the experience to the five-star level. A driver came and got us and took us down to the Restaurant so I didn't have to walk there in heels. At the restaurant, they gave my husband a card from the chef wishing him a happy birthday. The whole experience made us feel like important guests, despite us not being their typical clientele. Denise McConnell was a huge help when we made our reservation, and even left us a nice note. We appreciate her sincerely. Each morning, for breakfast, they would drop the paper and an elaborate feast in one of the rooms of our suite. They didn't bother us, and when we woke up, the food was ready and the coffee was hot. This was a really special trip, and I can't recommend Meadowood enough. Even if you can't stay, I recommend giving the restaurant a shot. Make reservations early, as they book up fast. read more

Meadowood is situated on acres of beautifully maintained greenery and offers many recreational activities. We stayed at the Croquet lawn view suite and everything was perfect. We stayed four days at Meadowood earlier this week. Having stayed there a number of times in the past, we found it just as wonderful as always. The staff is great. We had a problem with an Uber and they scrambled to take us to a restaurant in Yountville. They are very competent, pleasant, and professional. The facility is well taken care of and fun, with its pools and tennis courts. It has one of the best locations in the Valley. read more

Meadowood is basically Agusta but a hotel. Staying here is obviously pricey but worth it 100%. The pools are newly remodeled and the rooms are little cottages with in room fireplaces. It's worth staying at Meadowood for the grounds alone. Seriously stunning! If you like to hike, there is a 4 mile loop around the property that is for guests only. Definitely take advantage. If you plan on playing croquet, make sure you bring an all white outfit as you are only permitted to play in white. read more

We arrived after driving hours in the pouring rain trying to find this place. The staff was very accommodating and kind. They dried us off and upgraded our room, since no one showed up because of the storm. We had a view of the lawn, which was beautiful. I never thought I would ever use that word to describe a lawn, but it really was very nice. There was a king bed, wood-burning fireplace, and French doors that opened onto a terrace. It was about $500 (gah!) Prices range from about $500 to nearly $4000 (insane!) Their restaurant is amazing. The food is really just home style dishes like burgers, chicken, pork, short ribs, lamb, etc. But they do it up right and everything I ate was very impressive. I skipped the sweetbreads shittake and potato hash, though...brains? No, I don't think I'm that refined yet. Check the seasonal rates, which vary. It's expensive, but it's beautiful...a luxury stay you will always remember. read more

This resort is world class in every way. From the service to the grounds to the room, you won't find a more elegant and graciously accommodating resort in Napa. The room appeared to have been recently renovated with a frenchish country kind of decor theme- well executed and very, very tasteful (see my pics). My wife and I were floored by the service which included golf cart (daytime) and car (evening) rides up and down the property by request. We had a chance to hike the trail, use the pool, get a couple of massages, play tennis and eat at both restaurants while here. At every turn there were polite, smiling, and enthusiastic staff waiting to make your experience perfect without pretentiousness- they certainly succeeded in doing this for us. Every single staff member smiled and waved in passing no matter how busy or time of day. This represents superior management and a culture of guest focused service most high end resorts should strive for. This resort is tucked into the hills with pine trees and plenty of shade, which was nice with temps in the high 90s during our stay. Our cottage room was perched high on a hill and felt like we floated in the trees. Turn down and housekeeping service are thoughtful and made our stay there just beautiful. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in napa valley. read more

At meadowood spa they only allow members of the country club and hotel guests. So I went ahead and booked a room. The only complaint I have is that my room only had a shower. I am a bath person. But I never specified that so no biggie (and I spent most of both days at the spa anyhow). I'll be back! With my boyfriend for sure! I highly recommend Meadowood. 30 years after our first visit, we returned to Meadowood with our grown daughters. What can I say - this place is so perfect. The service, the graciousness, the facilities, the location. There may be newer resorts in the valley - but Meadowood is still fresh - the rooms are so comfortable our daughters gasped with delight - the mini bar is almost all "free", there is a coffee station by reception so you can enjoy coffee before you sit for breakfast, the restaurant is good solid cooking - the bar has an inventive cocktail list. The concierge made all of our arrangements at the local wineries - and the itinerary turned out to be a perfect sampling of the range of wines and experiences in the valley. Truly, we can't say enough about how thoughtful the service is and how comfortable staff make one feel. Thank you Meadowood for a perfect Christmas getaway. We hope to come back next year! read more

My wife and I have been wanting to stay at the Meadowood for over three years. The timing finally came together Jan 2018! The property is awesome! Pristine, quiet, and very private. We stayed in the Woodland Suite, approximately 600 square feet with a California king bed, a full body length window seat for reading, separate sitting room, and a cozy fireplace. We also had a private patio area for outdoor reading and relaxing. Unfortunately, we couldn't maximize the outdoor chairs because of rain. We took a quick tour of The Spa and immediately booked massage treatments after viewing the private couples suite that includes a private bathroom, steam shower, separate seating area for relaxing or reading and two massage tables. Unlike most spa treatments where you change in a locker room, wait in a central waiting area with other people, get walked to your treatment room, then walked back to the locker room, the Meadowood Spa suite experience is designed so you never have to leave the private suite! They have several spa treatment options all of which include about 3 hours in the private suite. Book your spa reservation in advance, they open at 9:30 am, so you have the afternoon open for wine tasting. 60-minute massage in the private suite is $225, a 60-minute facial is $235. They also have a mineral soaking bath at 140 degrees along with a tranquil garden area where you can enjoy a cup of tea and other snacks. We didn't have time to play tennis or croquet but we did participate in an early morning fitness classes: Cardio Weight Training with Kerry. Classes are complimentary and you just show up for classes at the designated time. Classes are 6:15 am to 1:15 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. On the other days, the schedule varies. Other classes include Stretch and Relax, Gentle Yoga, Core Balance, TRX Circuit Training, Callanetics, Cycle, Pilates. We also hiked 1 of 3 different trails on the property. We did the 1.6-mile Fitness Loop. The Meadowood Loop is the longest trail at 2.4 miles. They also have 6 running routes 2-12 miles long and 5 biking routes 10-28 miles long. We used the Meadowood bikes and rode to Lake Hennessey. It was about a 12 mile there and back with some pretty long steep climbs! The Meadowood staff was exceptional! Ryan Dorman, our Guest Services Rep, was awesome! He scheduled a private wine tasting for us at Quintessa and Stony Hill the very same day we arrived in St Helena! He provided us with a personalized itinerary with directions and maps. It was just a very nice touch that we appreciated. The following day, Ryan booked another private wine tasting at Failla and an olive oil tasting at Round Pond. The next time we go to Meadowood, we'll reach out to Ryan to help plan our next visit with more advance notice. Ryan was exceptional! We dined at the 3 star Michelin "The Restaurant" and it was amazing! (That will be a separate review.) Unfortunately, Chef Christopher Kostow was at the One & Only Palmilla in Cabo so we didn't get to meet him at "The Restaurant" or at The Charter Oak Restaurant where we dined the night before. We had an assortment of 7, 3, 4, and 5 course tasting menus around the table, which probably caused confusion. While it was great they offered the option, I was sad that the coordination seemed lacking in such a small dining room. However, each request we made was pleasantly and quickly responded to, so I can't fault the service much. Dinner started off with an amuse bouche tray, consisting of a premise grown radish with olive oil, a square of some lentil puff, a quail egg with caviar, and a fried oyster. Each was creative, yet simple and a really nice way to whet the appetite. I've never been a fan of raw radishes and this one made me change my mind. Next was a quick starter of mushroom tea, something M and I had enjoyed at Chez TJ. It's an interesting twist on a light consumme broth, with a tea bag of mushroom. While it's possible we didn't let the "tea" steep long enough, it didn't have as much mushroom punch as I remember at Chez TJ. This broth was rather bland, and lacked excitement. The crumpet, however, served beside the tea was fantastic, light, eggy, and full of flavor. Our first course was served all together, a Hamachi served with brioche toast for me, and a dungeness crab salad two ways for M. The crab was pretty good, 1 part was wrapped in apple, which made for a fun contrast to the savory crab. I thought both were creative and fun, and very good but not great. The second course of the tasting menu was a mackerel. This preparation was very tasty with a crunchy crust from a perfectly hot cooking. M's entree of Antelope filet came out. It had great flavor, no "gameiness" just a pure meaty taste, similar but definitely different than beef. A bit too much connective tissue, to call it really nice, though. The third dish was fois gras. Like beef, I've got a complete fan boi weak in the knees useless vocal cords crush on fois gras. This was served with an apple brulee, along side a hunk of some of the finest prepared goose liver I'd ever had. The table was full of adults shamelessly running bread, fingers, and even tongues over the dishes, squeaking out every last morsel of goodness from it. By this time, it was about 9:30pm and we were shocked to realize just how long a meal this was going to be, 3 hours and not even halfway. The fourth plate was a lobster soup, with sweetbreads ravoli and truffles. I found it good but underwhelming, given the ingredients. I mean, you've got the foods culinary oriented people dream of in the same dish, and it didn't knock me out. The lobster was flavorful and the broth was foamy and fun but the truffles all stuck to the dish and didn't add much. Decent dish, definitely not Send-It-Back quality, but not nearly as exciting as the previous. Fifth, we had a confit of suckling pig. This was the best presentation of this meat I'd ever had, tender with a fatty crust that made you want to eat more. It was bursting with pork flavor with that texture that reminds you why you love pork, yes, even pork over beef sometimes. When the beef came out, I looked at it, and saw nothing that looked like fat, just a piece of pure unmarbled meat. I was prepared to be underwhelmed. I was prepared not to like it, and to not worry about it, but when my fork sliced it, my attention came back. Yes, my fork. This is what beef is all about, tender, juicy, full of honest beef flavor, unweighted by other distractors. I really wanted a bigger piece of this, despite the capacity of my stomach nearing excessive levels. We had to ask about my wife's soup at this point. I was too full to fully enjoy it, but you can't argue with a creamy artichoke soup, served with duck confit. The duck gave a great flavor to contrast the artichoke, and we were again reduced to bread soaking to not offend the flavors left in the bowl. It would've made a better starter than a midpoint dish, though. By this time, my savory stomach was completely full, and luckily, next was a cheese course followed by dessert. It provided great balance and seemed to help cut through the richness lining my mouth. However, I was surprised to have a cheese course served, with no bread. Dessert was the highlight of the meal, for me. I had a chocolate souffle, which was light and cakeish up top and creamy as you got nearer to the bottom. It was served with a brown butter ice cream that was incredibly rich and only emphasized the chocolate flavor even more. However, the real star of the night was the butterscotch souffle. Never before have I had a souffle this tasty. I felt my taste buds give a standing ovation each time I let more souffle fall onto them. It was light and fluffy, and intensely flavored without being too heavy handed, bringing back happy childhood memories of rarely given butterscotch treats. Overall, I was pretty happy with the meal and presentation, a little disappointed with service, especially from a 2 Michelin Star rated restaurant. read more
