I do love Meadow's Farm and this location is a nice little spot. Mind you they are not nearly as stacked as their local competitor and this particular location is not as big as some of the other spots but it gets the job done. The parking is ample and they always have the place cutely decorated. As a whole, they have a decent selection and the staff is wonderfully helpful. They offer an educator discount, which I love, and I bet they would have a first responders discount but I am an educator so that's my focus, and I get a bday discount annually as well. I am a kid in a candy store when it comes to plants so I do wish they had an easier pricing display as it can sometimes be tricky to figure out a price. Meadows Farms sells excellent mulch. I try to buy it when on sale. Regardless of when I buy it however, the piles from which they pull the bags are consistent water soaked. This makes for both a messy car and an extra heavy bag of mulch. Cover the bags from the elements please. I can physically no longer buy the super heavy, water laden bags of mulch. read more

Really nice folks here. Backlick Road can be a challenge. Have been able to get several plants, pumpkins, and a tree from here. All have been wonderful. My kudos and thank you for the employees here. They know what they are doing. A lot of garden centers, don't feel welcoming in the area. These folks do. They are happy to help a rookie to a veteran. My first time using this garden center and I can't say enough about how helpful the staff were. I brought in an Orchid which needed help. It needed to be transplanted. One of the workers, Jamie provided me all the assistance I needed. I told Jaime I had watched numerous YouTube videos but was still afraid to try myself. I asked if he could give me pointers or assist me. Jamie took my little orchid and performed the transplant for me. He explained what he was doing and how to continue to care for the plant. I purchased plants with the help of my landscaper. While this gave me a small discount, it voided the warranty. 7 months later, two of the three plants haven't thrived and Meadows Farms will not stand behind their product. Had I known before I made the purchase that buying with my landscaper would void their warranty I wouldn't have used it their discount. Just a warning to avoid Meadows Farms for your landscaping needs. We purchased 18 trees and 6 of those delivered were the wrong tree. When we asked for this to be corrected with a delivery of the trees we'd chosen, we were accused of lying and charged an additional $300 to replace them, as the size we'd selected was no longer available. Not sure if I'll go back. Moving here last summer I have been excited to check this place out. So on a Friday at noon I headed over to get some slow release fertilizer for a new tree being planted. I pulled into the parking lot and there was many trucks there for delivery all at once. All parking was taken up so I patiently sat there waiting... UNTIL an employee, Marcus comes up to rudely tell me I can't be there (!!!) and another delivery truck had arrived after I pulled in and needed to get in behind me, and I was ordered that "I Must MOVE"! I then asked where would you like me to move to (as my car does not have wings and can not fly over other vehicles). He then said follow me as as he took an entire 3 steps ahead of me and we waited ending up pretty much exactly where I was waiting to begin with. At this time someone comes over his radio, saying don't let anyone else in (and he does nothing else to prevent someone else pulling in). He then comes back to tell me after the truck in front of starts to move-up that there is one parking space on the left I can take. Thanks Captain Obvious, so glad you were there to forcefully direct me on where to park. If only I got this much "help" when I was looking for the proper fertilizer. BLUF: beware and try to scope out the parking situation before you turn into the parking lot. Too much drama for what was supposed to be a fun "quick" trip to the nursery. It's apparent they can't tie a rope up to say no parking when they are having several deliveries. Management needs to do a much better job with delivery procedures and training employees on how to approach customers. read more

This place is AWESOME. May not look nice at first but once you go to the back, it's beautiful. I love the staff, they're knowledgeable and down to EARTH. Ha! We used to come here all of the time- for Christmas trees and landscaping- because quality products and genuine staff. Last year, in December like we always do- go buy a Christmas tree! We like the smaller trees and this was the only we had went to. Unfortunately, the young man taking payment- had taken our credit card info for him to use. read more

The team at Meadows Farms went above and beyond for our sweet second graders from Immanuel Christian School. They provided the perfect setting for a morning of painting pumpkins and playing in the hay and maze. Jaime and the team were amazing hosts having the pumpkins ready and the paint and brushes set up at a picturesque picnic table when we arrived. The kids had a fabulous time and the parents enjoyed the beautiful mums and plants on display. Terrible staff, will not be returning. The only person I have ever been able to get help from at this location seems to have moved on. The management sits in the office all day while what I can only assume are high school kids, play piggyback in the parking lot instead of helping customers. Every time I asked for help this last summer, the staff would all look at there feet in hopes that another would take responsibility. Corporate seems to be of no use and has little understanding of how a store should function. read more

Most of the local staff are okay, but if you have anything planted by them, or have any corporate problem, you are screwed. Staff at all levels give assurances, but the corporate staff will lie or cheat you. Love this nursery! It is amazing for kids, inviting environment to browse plants and lots of free events for kids which is amazing for us who love to be outside but need to get out of the backyard. UPDATE to previous 1 start review. The team at Meadows Farms was quick to reach out, take responsibility and rectify the situation. They returned to replant the dead trees and fulfill the warranty. At first look, these trees seem much healthier than the initial plantings and I'm hopeful these trees will thrive and eventually create the privacy we desired. We appreciate the near immediate fix of the situation and appreciate the outreach and sincere attention that Meadows provided. Very disappointed in how our rather pricey landscape purchase has been handled since day one. Purchased a "privacy screen" in early 2021. After Meadow Farm rescheduled the initial install a couple of times, finally got the trees in. They didn't look the strongest, were pretty scraggly and I'm sure barely met the height we supposedly purchased at install (unless you pinched the very top of the tree and stretched it). None of the trees seemed to perk up after planting and certainly did not start to grow into a privacy screen. A couple died within a few months. Those were eventually replaced. Within a few more months, without any visible growth, a couple of the other in the "privacy screen" died. Contact MF again. After several inquiries (they were advertising privacy screen sales but had no trees to replace my dead privacy trees unless I wanted to pay hundreds of additional dollars). Finally got scheduled for a warranty replant. Called the day before to make sure it was still scheduled (weather didn't look good) and was told yes, they'd be out in the morning. Well, morning came and went and I finally received a call that due to weather it would be rescheduled. (Why this wasn't seen coming, I don't know - that's why I had called to ask). Received another voicemail that the trees would be planted on Saturday. Again, Saturday (perfect weather) comes and goes without anyone showing up. When we inquired on Monday (no one ever in the office on the weekend) we were told that they don't know the reason why but that they rescheduled it for 2 more weeks out - no notice to me. Very much tiring if this "privacy" screen which more than a year later, has not grown an inch. read more

I wanted to create a lush garden on my rooftop and my front yard this season. I had visited a few nurseries and online sources, and I even trolled through Craigslist. All these places were overpriced! Well the online sources weren't bad, but as you don't know what you're getting, I decided against it. (with the exception of Antique Rose Emporium for roses - they're awesome!) Anyways, the DC nurseries were ungodly expensive. I really wanted a small Japanese maple, and a fruit tree. I was here the other day, and I was able to buy a Japanese maple on sale for only $50, and it was about 2 ft tall, maybe in a gallon container. It was nice and healthy too. I had to haul it in the back seat of my convertible, and it definitely got beat up by the wind and (*ahem*) my driving, but it made it to my house in pristine condition. I was also able to get a baby fig tree for $30. I understand that the maple tree was normally $100, but even then that's half the price of the Japanese maple trees I found in Dc. Service is super friendly at this place, and it's well organized. read more

Meadows Nursery in Annandale was my choice when I needed to purchase 14 Arborvitae trees and required service for the tree planting. The project was a success due to Meadows extremely professional capabilities, from start to finish and including communications. I have no doubts that all the newly planted trees will live. The planting crew was led by Michael Sanenz and they were timely, efficient, organized and careful. Each tree hole was relieved of the heavy red clay earth ( it was taken away in their truck ) and filled with planting mix. All the trees were standing straight up and staked when the job was completed and each tree had received plant nourishment and mulch. The cost was less than other bids I had received and, thus, affordable. I would recommend Meadows Nursery and I would use their services again. read more

We came here during a sale in july, so maybe things were depleted, but the selection of plants was very small and many of them were in dead or dying condition. We did end up buying a bunch just because it was a major sale and we had a lot of area to cover, but already a couple that looked weak have failed entirely, and we weren't able to get all the things we came for. Still, it's probably worth it if you're looking for a bargain. And this review might just reflect a particularly low time when much of their stock was out because of the mid-summer sale, so I may give it another try. read more

I spent all weekend looking for a particular plant, visiting some of the biggest garden centers in the area. This garden center looked quite small at first but that's because most if it is down the hill out of your line of sight. It not only had the plant I wanted, but two varieties! And at a great price. The only thing I didn't like about this location is the hill, after choosing my plants I had to drag my cart back up the hill. read more

This is our neighborhood nursery and we love it! They have a good selection of fruit and vegetable plants for our summer garden. Also a wide variety of compost and top soil. We've checked out a ton of the native plants too that are nice, although we haven't been in the market for those yet. Had shady area landscaping plan drawn up & contracted. Plan was fine, execution POOR! Crew was 2+ hours late. Quality of plants ranged from good to extremely poor; at least 8 plants were the quality that belonged in the compost heap! Asked salesman to rectify situation. He was really snarky & said @ "Well, you'll just have to call customer service", declining to offer any help. Eventually, after badgering him, he said he would contact C.S. but I have not heard from them. Next door neighbor said she had similar plant quality issue. Based on this experience, I cancelled a subsequent lawn service proposal and would never use Meadows Farms landscaping or lawn services. read more

The available stock of chrysanthemums and ornamental grasses were magnificent and it seemed as though I had the entire team available to load the plants.
