This company allows its workers to park its vehicles in residential areas all day only for the workers to switch them out with their personal vehicles. The worker trucks are not registered in the county they park in and the workers purposely park the Campbell Ferrera trucks taking up more than one spot to save room nightly for their cars and vice versa. It's completely unprofessional and rude. We have reported them to the county for abusing parking violations. We have had enough of Campbell Ferrera taking residents and residents guests spots 24/7! read more

This company requested a retainer fee of 1,400$ to start the process of getting permit for excavations and replacing the paving at the garage door, but has never proceeded with one to start a project. We also asked if they can create a design with a dry stream beds and stone retaining walls to navigate rainwater from a house, but they say that they "are not able to come to an agreement and execute these solutions". They neither want to proceed with a job nor want to return the money. read more

I am sad to report that my experience with this company was not positive, especially since this company was recommended by a great landscape designer who designed my $500k yard project many years ago. I feel that they are not interested in "poor" people or "small" house jobs and immediately quoted me $2500 design fee before i even finish explaining what i want. Maybe they worry that i don't have money to pay for landscape. lol. i think they looked up my current address on google and thought my house is an old shitty house and did not want to be bothered by me. I don't think they realized that the image showing on google is old and the builder demolished the entire old house and rebuilt a brand new one for me. Campbell and Ferrara did an awesome job on our backyard. We had them replace the old railroad ties with stacked stones and lay a pad for a fire pit. It looks beautiful and just like the plans they drew for us. We are very pleased and would highly recommend them! I went to a nursery down the road looking for some perennials and and mulch. I didn't see what I was looking for nor were the workers interested in asking if I needed help. I happened to notice this shop on my way to Lowe's and decided to drop in. The manager asked if I needed any help, showed me where to find what I was looking for and also helped me load my car. I actually had a pretty nice little Saturday planned, I went around Home Depot, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Ikea and didn't know if there was enough time to hit up the garden center, but luckily with groupon in hand I managed to pick up a few plants at Campbell and Ferrara. This is when I realized I was becoming Frank the Tank from Old School. In all seriousness, the Campbell and Ferrara garden center is the best part of domestication day. I have bought a Groupon from this business consistently for 2 years in a row and I hope they offer more! I am probably the least domestic person you'll meet and never thought of myself growing plants (legally),but I love coming to this garden center. First off it's super dog friendly, just put Fido in the cart and lug him around and the staff will go bananas over them. The grounds are beautiful.They have a selection of native plants (ie. stuff that is guaranteed to live) and then more exotic tropical plants. I bought super beautiful and wonderful smelling jasmine plant and a bunch of hibiscus plants. You know the large sized orchids Whole Foods charges about $30 for? Half that price here. I also bought a rose plant for mothers day last year at a super low price (cheaper than Home Depot) and it's now the size of a tree. Also the price for starter sets for herbs and vegetables is pretty low and they do have a variety. That's right I'm growing my own vegetables this year, which makes me about two steps away from cancelling all my waxing appointments, composting, and buying a Prius. The best part is the professional staff, always helpful and willing to take my stupid questions. They offer $5 gift certficate if you sign up for their newsletter. This review is way overdue. Jim and Donna Campbell and their staff (recently Peter Rhyme) have done an outstanding job on our landscaping. We have had a porch with portico built, underground drainage for our yard completed, and most recently right before the pandemic all of our outdoor uplighting redone. Thank Goodness it was completed in February because we have certainly used our outdoor space since March. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about all things plants, lights, and landscaping. I am making a serious effort to be more domestic this season. I've always grown a few standard herbs, some tomatoes, and a couple jalapeño plants. But this year I decided to double the number of herbs, nix the tomatoes (three years in a row of frustration), and add in some edible greens like chard and mesclun. I didn't grow up gardening, however, and husband and I live in a high-rise condo with a small balcony that gets tons of bright, western exposure. I needed help navigating this new(ish) world. Campbell & Ferrara to the rescue. I was *thrilled* when husband and I drove around back (use this entrance, don't park up front) and saw how enormous the facility is, and just how much stock they have. A hundred times larger than any big box store, and it all looked a hundred times healthier and more vibrant. I headed straight for the edibles. Suz, the friendly staffer tending the herbs, really walked me through my plant selection and answered all my questions -- are there any herbs that can't tolerate six hours of direct sun? are there herbs I shouldn't plant with others? how tolerant are delicate baby lettuces to tons of sunlight? -- quite patiently. It was clear she was very knowledgeable, and when she giddily told me how thoroughly excited she was for me to start getting my herbs and greens into planters, I knew we had come to the right place. When husband and I then went in search of a flowering annual to fill a hanging wall-basket, Nathan stepped in to provide artful assistance. We explained we wanted something that would grow downward and fill out. He pointed us towards several options, and we ended up rather happy with a delicate phlox. On top of the extensive selection and friendly, well-informed staff, plant prices at C&F are wonderfully reasonable. Full, healthy herb starters and flats of greens are only $3, bags of one cubic foot potting soil only $10. If you're looking for pots, seeds, trellises, planters, pavers, garden furniture, or outdoor décor, C&F has you covered there, too. After our excellent experience -- not to mention saving major moolah -- at independent C&F, I don't see the need to go back to Home Depot for my gardening needs ever again. The selection here is impressive and the grounds are beautiful. I can't speak to price as I have no real basis for comparison, having not purchased plants in the area before. Unfortunately, though I wandered around (surely looking rather lost) for at least 10 minutes, no one came up to ask if I needed any assistance. I could have found someone to help me, I've no doubt, but it would have been nice to have felt a little more welcome. I wound up not buying anything, but I may return when I have more of an idea of what I want to do with my yard. read more

Ok, Wow! I am so happy to have found this place. This place has a very nice selection of flowers, specifically Orchids! I was looking for Orchids and ended up buying one in DC, because I was time pressed. I found this place when I went to eat at Bon Chon next door after I already made my purchase. I went in and was impressed with a nice selection of accessories, pots, food, soil, and they also have a discounted clearance section where my buddy got a nice Orchid pot for $6!! Normally $20 and up. They had Orchids priced $20 for a small, and $30-40 for large 2 stem Orchids! They were beautiful and you could practically get any color that you wanted. Now, I just wanted to see their selection, so I walked in, and the guy helped me identify which Orchid I had, and even provided a care sheet and explained how to care for them. I really appreciate the info and will definitely return and I highly recommend this place. If you have a car, it's worth the drive! They close at 5pm. RECOMMENDED! read more

I would not recommend them. The landscaping they did for me was done poorly. A number of the plants were not planted properly. Holes were not dug properly and plants were placed on top of the soil then covered by mulch. In particular they planted a tree improperly such that the roots could not grow. The tree has done poorly and they would not replace it. Very disappointed. read more

Campbell & Ferrara provided a level of customer service virtually unknown these days. Working with C & F was like working with good friends. From the first phone conversation to the last -- a follow-up to ensure everything was perfect. We put 'astro-turf' in our small back yard eight years ago. We kept clean but never did anything much more. It was looking a bit frumpy. After researching care and feeding of fake grass-I discovered C & F and their rehabilitation service. Perfect! They worked with my schedule, very accommodating. The result? My turf looked, felt, and even smelled (I have two Boston Terriers) wonderful! I will not wait another eight years to get a turf rehab from C & F. Will be a habit now : ) read more

I love this place - I have bought herbs, veggies, annuals, and perennials from them for several years now. Their prices are a little higher but I have been very happy with the service and quality of plants. I originally visited another one of the major garden centers in the area and it was such a zoo on a Saturday that I could barely get a parking space. C&F does not have that problem and their staff is very helpful. They also have a wonderful selection of Christmas greenery around the holidays. read more

I have shopped here for potting soil and a couple of plants. I've had great luck with the plants I bought- the manager who helped me gave me a lot of informative advice and I followed it and have not killed any of the plants! :) Their prices seem very reasonable, too, and I not only enjoy supporting a locally owned business but it's much more convenient to me than a lot of the really big stores- easy to get to, parking is easy, checkout is fast. We wanted to replace our existing flagstone patio but also asked for suggestions regarding a new design for the steps to the back door. It was a trickier request than any of us anticipated. Laura Shaub came up with a very creative design that also maximized the usable space on the patio. Also, even with some new plantings added to the design, C & F provided the most reasonable bid of the three we solicited. Laura closely supervised the construction process and was responsive to our concerns at every step of the process.The final product is attractive, sturdy, and convenient, with lovely landscaping. Wow!! Laura is the most incredible designer and customer service advocate we've encountered. We gave her a general concept and she came up with brilliant ideas, and a look we're thrilled with. She's creative, knowledgeable and focused on what we want, not what she wants (I know, a novel concept). Installation was on the hottest day of the summer, so she came by multiple times after to check on the landscaping to ensure the heat wasn't too much for the plants. In case you didn't know, they are closing and will only offer hardscape services at another location. The staff has, "one foot out the door" and I was so disappointed in the lack of service or the ability to find someone who actually cared about a customer. I spent about 15 minutes looking to find someone to help me and then when I went to pay for the tree I picked out the 3 people at the counter never even made an attempt to help me. I guess I was an interruption to whatever they were doing. It's really not worth any sale prices as the inventory looks very shabby and remember, they're closing down, so no warranties. Too bad Merrifield is so expensive, not sure where to go in the area now. read more

We bought our cut tree from the lot at Campbell & Ferrara. It is a nicely shaped tree, but it is extremely dry. The tree only absorbed a small amount of water after we brought it home, because it had been cut so early and it was dying and drying out. I expected a fresher tree from a nursery and for the amount paid, but that was not the case. It was my first and last "cut tree purchase" from Campell and Ferrera. Don't waste your money at this nursery, find another tree farm or tree lot. read more

I needed a house plant to put beside the couch and wanted something that required minimal attention with low light. The only option I found besides this company was Lowe's. Considering purchasing plants or garden services from Campbell & Ferrara nursery? Don't. My advice is to look elsewhere first...perhaps Meadows Farms (who guarantee their trees for life) or Merrifield Garden Center. Two years ago we contracted with C & F to design and plant our entire front garden with a host of plants and matching dwarf magnolia trees. Several plants died within the first year and they begrudgingly replaced them after multiple phone calls. Recently the two dwarf magnolia trees also died in spite of adequate care on our part. I emailed photos of the dead trees to C & F and inquired as to any considerations they would provide. According to Donna Campbell, one of the owners: Nothing! Ms. Campbell's statement was so shocking I grabbed a pen to note her words accurately. She stated: "Children die at birth." My response: "Excuse me?" She repeated: "Some children die at birth." I indicated that I provided adequate care to the trees and she attempted to qualify her remarks by stating: "More plants die from loving them than not caring at all." Later that day I received a contract offer to replace the trees at a cost in excess of $1000. I should have taken my own advice originally and shopped anywhere other than Campbell and Ferrara. I decided to have Cambell & Ferrara remove my old concrete patio and install a new geocut fieldstone patio and path. Chris C., the landscape architect was super to work with for design and working within the confines of my condo association covenants. She arranged for a team of installers who arrived when they said they would every day for most of a week. They worked efficiently to remove the old patio and removed all of the debris. They did an excellent job of grading away from the building and meeting the specifications required by my condo. The "team leader" is gifted in his ability to stack stones for walled areas and arranging the fieldstone to fit the contours of the design. I did not do any landscaping at the time of the installation in December, but have purchased shrubs and plants from C&F in the past and know that their stock is of the best quality. I have confidence that my path and patio will survive the test of time and be an asset to my property. read more
