We contacted Meadow Farms after 20 years in our room and realizing the deer had eaten about every bush we had our front. We had everything removed and Jon Long (design consultant) came out to assess. After learning about what I was looking for, he drew up a design that included river rocks to help with drainage. We were pleased with the design (and estimate) and signed on the dotted line! The crew arrived on the scheduled day and got the work done within the day. We got home and couldn't believe how great everything looks! I had a very disappointing experience at Meadows Farms Nurseries in Manassas. The staff checking customers out outside were rude, not attentive, and not friendly at all. I did not feel welcomed or helped as a customer. On top of that, many of the plants were overgrown and did not look fresh, and the prices felt too high even after the VIP discount. Overall, the experience was frustrating and not worth the cost. I will not be going back. I would rather shop at Merrifield Garden Center. read more

I was simply trying to get an estimate with their landscaping department and it was awful. The website makes it seem like it's going to be some wonderful consultation and I went with them because my family used them for plants and landscaping. I started looking at other companies fast and there are many. This is NOVA! First of all, the person, would not give me any open time slots for scheduling. He kept saying they could only meet at 9 or 10am in the morning. Then on this particular day they had mandatory staff meetings and he could not do it that day, etc. This is horrible customer service. You could totally tell this person was way too young and inexperienced to do this front line of work for them. I will not be going back. I didn't realize there were so many stores, I had used the Woodbridge location in the past but has since closed , I had used the landscaping services out of chantilly, they did a wonderful job but I did have a problem develop wit with a couple of the plantings in the rear, wonderful warranty service, thank you guys very much! I wanted to update my garden with a dwarf Japanese Maple Tree. Red Maple Tree and two Mountain Laurel bushes. They had what I wanted and were very professional in getting my shrubs and trees pulled and marked as sold so I could have my Gardener pick up at a later date. I had a follow up meeting with the manager at Meadows Farms to explain the mulch they put down and me having to apply two separate applications of spray after the two applications of mulch for ants and that it created fungus in my flower bed. The manager returned my call and stated that basically his mulch had no ants but that because they disturbed the ground the ants probably surfaced and that they fungus was not a result of their product. This is so disappointing. So what id would like to say to those who have had a great experience, i am truly happy for you. But when an establishment refuses to acknowledge their failure to perform, that business along with others that fail to meet the needs of the minimum standards of performance will eventually affect YOU as a customer as well. It may not seem as if it is a problem now, but Big Companies get comfortable with giving shoddy service to some, while perhaps giving quality service to others. Trust me, you will be on the receiving end of bad service one day and in your effort to have them to rectify it, you will receive a dismal response such as the one i received. Hopefully it will not cost you as much as it cost me. I even had one of their representatives (young man named Wager) to come out and see the growing fungus in which he used his hand to break some of it up and took pictures, but the management says they are not responsible for the fungus, even though there was no fungus in the flower bed prior to them putting down their mulch. Most consumers are concerned about themselves alone which is indicative of the state of where we are as a country. MeadowFarms may get away with treating me this way. But you can certainly believe that they will reap what they sow. In the interim, i would not recommend their services until they fix the problem with me and any other customer because that alone makes good business sense. Helpfulness - 4/5 Value - 3/5 I went here to buy fruiting cherry trees for my wife. I emailed a few gardening centers beforehand to ask questions and Meadows Farms was the only one to call me back, which was great. When I came to the farm, I was immediately greeted and helped by a knowledgeable employee. I bought the two trees as well as the delivery and planting option. Why'd I go with that? Because they guarantee anything they plant for up to a year, and give you a lifetime warranty (i.e., you can get the cost of the plant back). That said, the service is very expensive. The delivery and planting services increased the cost by about $200. Obviously, I wouldn't recommend this option for smaller plants like flowers or bushes. The delivery is a bit of a hassle as they need to call you afterwards and the delivery department seems completely divorced from the sales market. They sent out the crew to mark my utility lines 3 weeks before delivery was scheduled, so the lines all washed away in the rain. The delivery people also weren't exactly easy to communicate with either. That said, I love the product and I love the center itself. The cost of the plants are very reasonable and they have a great variety of options. read more

Wonderful people to work with! We wanted a mature magnolia and had it installed. We picked the one we wanted and they brought it within the week. I called to ask how to care for it and the man I spoke with patiently gave me information on how to tend it through year three! Can't get much better than this. They weeded, trimmed plants, applied pre-emergent herbicide, edged the beds and mulched. When finished, the ornamental planting beds were perfect! Since Meadows Farms has designed and planted our ornamental garden, that landscaping has become the focal point of our yard. However, my husband (a stroke survivor) and I (back and joint problems) are in our mid-70's and would have problems maintaining our garden. Meadows farm nursery use to be great, but now the customer service doesn't exist, and the work that they get paid well to do is not the same quality as they did several years ago. I went to meadows farm nurseries Manassas location three times this spring to get a tree for my yard, but all three times that I was there,nobody offered to help me with anything. I did get some attention from a young fella the first time I visited, but it was because they were closing up for the day. I finally bought a dogwood tree from there on April 5th 2020. The tree that I picked out with my lady was great quality for $250 and another $250 for planting the tree, and then $50 for delivery plus $30 for the gator bag and another $25 for two tree stakes, and the two bags of mulch premium $20 and taxes on all. I only live three miles away from the nursery, and the tree was being put into the hole from taking the old twenty year old tree out of last fall,the other thing was that the truck pulls right up in front of my house where they only had to move the tree off the truck about 10ft to the spot. They were gone in 15 minutes lolz. I don't care about the money or the easy job, but I was upset when I was at the nursery the second time and I was going to pay for some preen inside of the nursery, but I noticed that they had steps going up to the register to pay for merchandise,I looked around for a ramp to go up in my wheelchair to pay but they did not have one. I waited for someone to come take my money for ten minutes to no avail so I left without anything. The other thing that I was upset about was the condition of the tree that I purchased from there, I don't know if they had it on the truck all day getting scraped up or just hit with some kind of tools, but I have pictures of the tree that we purchased, and the tree they planted into my yard, and it was very nice when I bought it, compared to about ten or more pieces of bark freshly scraped or beaten off of the tree that's in my yard now. I hope it doesn't die because I really don't want to go back to meadows farm nursery for anything for about three years, and then I will see if they have picked up their professional status that I remember from several years ago. They do have very nice quality stuff if you take it with you when you buy it, but I might have just had the wrong delivery guys that didn't take care of my dogwood while in their possession. read more

No sale is worth the amount of frustration I just experienced at Meadows Farms today. It turns out the VIP sale on mulch is only for what you can take with you today, but they can't seem to explain how large a bag of mulch is so I can calculate how much will fit in my small car. It took almost 10 minutes waiting in line with only one person in front of me to find out that they don't know how big a bag of mulch is. I'll go to your competitor, thanks. Update: After receiving my review, Meadows contacted me to go over the specific issues and scheduled repairs for today. Meadows came out today (5/10) and resolved the issues to my satisfaction. Gave me great recommendations based on what I was looking for and I will be eagerly returning next month to see what they have then. Some of these reviews are absolutely silly, they offer a veteran's discount and have statues of soldiers for sale outside as well, if Buddhist statues offend you you may want to do some self reflection on what that says about you. read more

If you're trying to get here off of 234, be careful -- you won't see this place from the road! It's a nice little nursery/landscaping store, with a very nice selection of herbs, some that I haven't seen at other nurseries in the area. Customer service is pretty decent. The way the place works is you load up a cart with the plants you're looking for, then someone writes you a ticket which you take to the cashier. It's pretty straightforward and eliminates those big lines which can form at most garden centers. read more

It was an OK consult, not a lot of 'design' but a few suggestions of what to buy/plant. Also requested pricing on a pathway. I called this week and decided to order a few of the options given to me and was told there had to be a $1,000 minimum. Mine would have been about $650. I am not pleased. I have spent thousands of dollars at Meadows Farms and have always had a problem, but they were minor. This time I ordered some minor lawn work and they destroyed half of my front yard. I had my lawn totally resodded a few years ago by Meadows Farm and always had a problem with two areas because of excess heat. I contracted to have the front lawn de-thatched, fertilized and treated with some product they recommended only on the area that needed patching. I looked out the window when they were done and almost fainted. It looked like half my front lawn had been plowed under. There were huge clumps of what looked like black soil. I asked the guy what it was, but his English wasn't good enough to answer my questions. They handed me the bill and left. I was not told to water. Three weeks go by and the plowed under portion of my yard looks like a weed farm. No sign of grass. It took a week to get someone out to see the mess and that only happened after I left a voice mail threatening to call the president. A man I will call RM came out and said I should have watered. I told him no one told me to water. He said he would email me watering instructions and he never did. As for the weeds, which were rapidly growing due to the fertilizer, he just shook his head and told me I would have to manually pull them. I am 70 and allergic to grass. I keeled over yesterday while weeding and have hired a teenaged neighbor. I have written RM an email and left a voice mail. At this point I am prepared to hire someone else to resod the part that looks awful and sue Meadows Farms for the cost. Another thing.This spring I paid Meadows Farms $1,000 to dig up old mulch from my front garden and replace it with new mulch. Weeds are starting to push up through this new mulch. It is only a few inches deep! For $1,000! read more

I will not be using this business again. I ordered 5 yards of dirt and when asked (they informed me they couldn't give me a window for delivery because they could be sued: should have been a red flag) they informed me it would likely be in the morning sometime. My wife took the day off so we could move the dirt to the backyard as quickly as possible; the only place the dirt can be delivered is our driveway. At 4pm in the "morning" the dirt had yet to arrive. If only had known how many people I could have sued in the past who cared about their customers enough to provide a time for delivery and attempted to not waste customers time, how rich I would be! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!! I spend $2500 for a landscaping project in my front-yard. From the minute I scheduled (and paid the 50% deposit) until the delivery EVERYTHING went wrong. They cancelled the 1st appointment (after the scheduled time!), showed up 3 hours late for appointment #2 (after I called multiple times to see where they were). At this point there was 1 hour of day-light left, so of course it became a rush job. They were short sod and mulch, left a mess (as it was now dark and they couldn't see). The next day the designer came back and installed dead sod in the yard (oh, and left the wrong color mulch), saying it would "green up". When it didn't, I called back, the staff was incredibly rude but did send an inspector to check it out. He wrote a report that said they installed dead sod and left. This was 4 days ago.. supposedly they will be back NEXT WEEK to fix it. Also I found the following day that one of the rose bushed they installed is covered in black spots... DO NOT spend your money here... I would give them 0 stars if I could. This might be the worst experience (product and customer service) I've ever experienced. I don't know if we came into this nursery the wrong time of the day or there is a an organizational issue at this place. We were waiting an enormous time when trying to pay. Finding items that we want to buy was pretty fast. It is well organized store and staff is ready to show where to find certain things. But then, simply we could't pay. The girl at the checkout was speaking by phone at least 20 minutes, another employees were walking by all the time, but no one shown an interest to help us or to help her with the phone orders. I had wanted to have my backyard professionally done in spite of knowing that it will cost a lot. Therefore in mid-June I sent an email to Meadow Farms requesting a consultation, knowing I will be charged $49 for the design which will be absorbed into the landscaping charge. That was okay with me. Amanda Caldwell was the designer who came. I showed her the backyard and told her how I wanted it to look like. With each improvement I asked her how much each would cost. Both the waterfall and the pergola came to $6,000, at which quote I mentioned that the amount was already my budget. However, I was thinking to myself that I could get more money from my money market account, which I didn't mention. I guess I should have. It would have assured her that there were funds to cover the expense. There were more things to be done, but they were mostly for the ground, which was going to be labor-intensive. However, she promised to give me a quote after I emailed her some designs I found online. I sent her the designs on June 25. No response. I sent another email on June 28 asking about the progress. No acknowledgment at all. Finally I figured that she wasn't interested in doing my backyard. So I sent an email saying to forget the whole thing, since she didn't have the decency to respond! She probably assumed I was not rich enough to afford it! Either that or, since I lived in a townhouse, she didn't want to touch it. Maybe townhouses were beneath her. Or she didn't like Asian people, which I am. I had let this snub irk me and fester for a month or more. I finally decided to write a review and air it out. I came here on Saturday and had a great experience with getting four beautiful hanging plants for my balcony. I bragged to my friend how helpful everyone was. Two days later, I noticed that one of the annual plants after watering all the same time was drooping. So I called and the person that answered tells me to come in. This is now day 4. Drove 20 miles back to this location and all I wanted to do was return and buy another plant to add to my balcony. The lady at the front called a gentleman to the desk and he was rude and dismissive. I explained what happened and nothing I said made a difference. He said the plant was dry. I said, I watered all 4 plants at the same and the remaining 3 are still very beautiful. Because of the lack of customer service, I left and did not buy the second plant. Meadows has decided that a single bobcat scoop of mulch is a yard. Every other nursery in there area gives 2 scoops for a full yard. They have lost my business. Sad that the Woodbridge location closed, at least they were honest. read more

I would MUCH MUCH MUCH rather shop here than at Lowe's or Home Depot. Merchandise is easier to find, staff are friendlier, and the prices aren't so high that you'd be driven to shop at the above mentioned big box retailers. Honestly, though, the selling point is the garden center. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and we were able to select some very nice houseplants for a reasonable price. I'll definitely return next spring when it's time to work on my garden. read more
