They damaged walls and our refrigerator no longer works after they dropped it. We were also missing a very important sentimental box. They did not do the check offs like they were supposed too. We were also supposed to have them set up and unpack everything. They kept complaining about it and also damaged a bedframe. In the end they did not unpack everything like they said and damaged a bunch of things. We are now pending reimbursement through their slow insurance process. The owners comment is just proof of one more of their lies. I have been trying to work with them but they're basically telling me that I'm lying but their employees didn't inventory the boxes like they were supposed to, so it's their fault.they were also supposed to know any damage made by the other company which they did not therefore it is in their hands. This was my first time really moving, and I am SO glad I went with Meathead movers. I had been on the fence, lots of friends and family telling me that I should just do it myself, but with work and contractors working on the house there wasn't enough time. The estimate on the phone was clear and easy, they were pleasant and professional and upfront about the cost of everything. My three Meatheads, Jose, Brian and Sam showed up on time. Jose outlined the costs again for me at the start, and they worked hard to get my home moved quickly and efficiently. No dilly dallying or wasting time to pad the clock. They took care to wrap up my items, such as my tv and musical keyboard. They took my bed frame apart and put it back together perfectly. Very pleasant and professional, nothing shady about them (which is why I decided to go with a reputable moving company that does background checks). They DID jog back and forth, although I felt a little bad because it was probably 95F that day. To the Meathead movers management, these three guys are awesome and are a real asset to your business. We used Meatmovers in our move on July 3rd 2024 and they did a horrible job. They said they would send 8 guys and sent 4 guys. One of the guys said no one wanted to work so they were short handed. They arrived late and took so so long and didn't arrive to the new house less than a mile away until 6:00pm and were tired and throwing our pillows for the outdoor furniture on the ground and left several things on the curb outside. They didn't leave unit 10:00 pm. They quoted a price and charged us $2,000 over the quote and then to top it off broke at least $10,000.00 worth of expensive pots, crystal, 2 mirrors, some outdoor figurines and the list goes on. I called at least 10 times to speak to a manager and they never got back to me, they gave me a complete run around. Finally I spoke to someone to get a claims form to file a claim for all the damage and broken items and they still haven't acknowledged the certified mail forms I mailed back. Next I will contact our attorney. I do not recommend them. I have never made a complaint on yelp but I had to so no one else will be treated this way. read more

We used Meathead Movers to move our office this week. We purchased the "Whole" package, to our knowledge. Packing, moving and unpacking. Well on moving day the packers showed up and went over paperwork, that is when they told us that we did not have the unpacking services too. We needed the move to go smoothly due to the fact that we are a business and are still conducting business during our move. Our packers Kayla and Tiffany were nice. They packed the office in about 3 hours (that is what we paid for). They wrapped fragile items and packed them carefully, but when it came to packing the computers, and electronics they just unplugged everything and threw it in a box. I told them that we needed to keep all the wires to the computers together but they did not do that. When we got to the new office and started to unpack and put the computers together, all the wires were mixed up and not even in the box with the computer. I could go on and on about all the stuff that was packed in complete different boxes. We moved in 3 days ago and just found one of the mouse to the computer in a box that was in a box with odds and ends. Overall the packing service was just ok. I probably would not use this service in the future. The movers did a good job. It was hot that day and they still hustled. The only complaint that I have with them is that they moved our desks with all the drawers in them, so everything was all upside down and spilled everywhere. Absolutely horrible attitude over the phone. My husband and I are unable to move a display cabinet in our living room. Rather than inconvenience friends, I was willing to pay someone to come over to move it a few feet (it's newly purchased and empty). I explained I am unavailable in the mornings, but they could by come any day, any time, in the afternoons or evening. Their response was rather snarky, and basically said since it was just a one hour minimum they could not accommodate any time requests other than the day. I had to be available on-call with a 30 minute notice the entire day. So in other words, if I'm not making them a ton of money I have no value to them. Certainly no customer service here. Update: As stated in Allison's response, they are not accommodating if you have a smaller job. I don't believe my asking them to provide service on any day they wish, and any time they wish, except mornings (we have other commitments), is unreasonable. In fact, it's pretty darned open-ended and flexible. They respond as if I'm an inconvenience. No worries, we'll go elsewhere.. read more

Honestly I would give 3.5 stars but am bumping it up to 4 based on the effort made to try to fix things after my move. The estimate process was awesome. My representative was easy to talk to and personable. We did a video walk-through via FaceTime. The packing services was where it fell apart. I packed some before the move because the estimate guy told me it was about 5-6 hours of work at minimum. I used packing and moving services so they gave me 3 hours of packing so I figured I would pay for 3 more. Half off for packing seemed like a good deal...except when you feel like the packers are there and "doing you a favor". They are college students. They were friendly. My team had a dynamic that was off so they didn't work as well as a "team". After 3 hours, they asked what else I wanted. I suggested packing things up and the guy says "oh they can shrink wrap that" ... and "that". So ultimately I only paid for 1 extra hour. Then packed more on my own cause I got the sense they weren't there to help and just wanted to go home. Now moving day, well that was a total screw up. First I was informed the Fresno crew could do my "move" so we got the SLO team. Unfortunately they showed up late because of traffic. The actual move took forever - more than 6 hours because after the got to our house they had to take an obligatory break. I get it but slow start. In reality if the packing had been better the move would have been more successful. I don't fault the crew driving with traffic. I changed move day from Sat to Monday a few weeks prior so part of not having the Fresno crew could be on me for making that change. I did speak to management and was offered an hour of free unpacking but didn't use it due to having such a bad taste in my mouth from the packing experience. I would recommend the movers. I would NOT recommend the packers. Who cares if you get 3 free hours, I would rather 6 paid hours and having it done right. ETA: my move was 4 bedroom house, single story and the move distance was 3 miles. They started at 11:30, worked some, then had a break which was required then worked more. They didn't finish packing the truck until after 6pm! I attribute this to all the stuff I think should have been packed and wasn't. read more

I had a similar bad experience with Meathead Movers 1.5 years ago. I was told they would bring their biggest truck. The guys showed up 15 minutes late in a rented 15 ft Uhaul. The team lead spent more time trying to figure out how to make it all fit. It took 4 hours to load and 45 min to unload. He said unload time is usually 1/4 of time load time. After the move, when I called to complain they said they couldn't do anything bc I had refused for them to make a second trip so he had to make it all fit. Mind you we were up against rain that was coming. Sure enough, it started raining late in the process. They even had me utilize my friends truck to move and credited me $50 for gas. They said it's it normal practice, but asked me to use my friends truck and sent one of the movers with me to unload the truck. They did not fit all items in the truck. My elliptical which was on the move list and had been discussed was not moved. The intake person failed to ask the right questions. Unbeknownst to me, If it has to be taken apart they can't move it. One piece of furniture was slightly damaged. He took a report and I never heard anymore. I was giving them the opportunity to make the experience better and waiting to write a review. Here I am ready to move again and realized I never went back to review. I guess I didn't want to relive that horrible experience. Unfortunately it's comforting to see that others have had a bad experience bc everyone seems to rant and rave about Meathead Movers. My 7 year old boos them every time we see a Meathead truck You will see in their feedback to negative reviews "we have tried to reach this customer..." I haven't seen one where they confirm reaching the customer and making it right. If they do reach you they just defend their point. They do not care after they have their $. We did our long distance move from Fresno to the Bay area with meathead movers. The process was smooth from start to finish. We were able to have their guys come out for an estimate within a week. Their estimators came and documented what we needed moved and what was going to stay. Throughout the walk-through he was explaining everything and making sure I understood the process. I had used them in the past for my move from an apartment to that home so I basically knew what had to be done. But now 2 kids later things needed to be more detailed for me. Both Taylor and Daniel were extremely patient and great with my kids. On move day we had four guys come and start packing their truck. They padded the floors and walls to protect from scuffs. They worked efficiently and professionally - you could tell they took pride in their work. I was happy that none of them took part in personal conversations and their tone was always courteous. On the day of delivery in our new home there were two guys helping us. They made sure we had everything where we wanted and our furniture was placed just right. Again, they protected the walls and floors. Nick made sure to go through everything with me and my husband to ensure we were happy with how things ran. My only concern was that during the walk-through, I was told that because our move took two days the truck would be kept in a locked facility until the following day. On the second day the movers would drive up to our new home and unpack at that time. But Nick and Brandon drove up immediately after loading their truck and said that they would be at our house at 9am. That put a wrench in our plans because we counted on them being there in the afternoon. Unfortunately, our in-laws also had an emergency come up where we wouldn't be able to leave until the following day anyway. So when I attempted to contact the movers directly he didn't return my calls or texts. It was a hassle calling the main line to tell them we needed to push the start time out. My wife and I were very happy with our movers Colin C. and Thomas C. We were only moving from a POD into a storage unit. We booked for two hours and they came right in the time frame. They were there early and ready to go. Unfortunately the POD driver thought he was picking up the POD. He was supposed to pick it up and deliver it to Darell's storage. But no problem when he got there the guys unloaded it fast. They were running back and forth. They loaded everything well and did a great job. They were polite and friendly. The service was absolutely amazing. Evan and David did an excellent job. They HANDLED our move. We received multiple email reminders starting from two weeks before our scheduled date to confirm our move and what to expect. They called about 30-45 minutes before our scheduled time to ensure the appointment still worked for us and they were AT our door on the dot. ( not pulling in or on their way - ON TIME) Evan took the time to explain all of the paperwork and anything that was included in our quote and how that might change depending on our items fragility. They exercised the BEST hustle. Evan and David were extremely friendly, personable and polite. I appreciated their work ethic, efficiency and the care they used with our items. We had a lot of really large items for them to move, they took apart our bed frame for us and whenever their hands were free, they were jogging back for another item. We had only the two associates for all the furniture and they made sure they kept the work under the 3 hours as requested. All of our furniture made it here without any damage and there was no damage done to our old apartment or our new house either. Payment for the move was super easy. We got our receipt immediately before they even left. We also had the opportunity to complete an open feedback form regarding our service. That saved us cash and time. They handled everything with care, no walls hit or scratched, no damaged furniture. So back in November 2019 I contacted Meathead Movers for a quote to move our household belongings to a new home. Typically I've spearheaded all of our moves with help from family and U-Haul rentals. However this time I was fresh out of spine surgery and was useless so I figured it would be wise to get major help. Unfortunately we also had to move immediately due to housing / plumbing issues. When I contacted the Froffice they set up an appointment to have someone come out and evaluate our belongings to better quote us. After expressing our urgent needs they assured me someone would be at our home at the agreed upon time and date. One day before the set appointment day I was contacted and informed that the "person" who would be going to do the evaluation was not available and the appointment would need to be canceled. I asked if there was anyone available due to our urgent needs but I was told there was not. I was definitely not happy because this truly threw off the game plan. Now I'm not knocking the company I'm aware of all the good work they do with assisting victims of domestic violence. I definitely feel that was down right unprofessional. Update: Thank you for reaching out to me Allison however your information is incorrect. I recall so vividly because I had just undergone back surgery and I thought the move would go seamlessly hiring your company, according to the information I received from who I thought was a professional employee. To be clear you canceled on me the same week it was within a day or so of the appointment date. Plus there was no need to call me back after I made it clear to you on the day your company canceled on me that I would no longer use your business. It's unfortunate your system and or employees are logging false information. What I can see from your Yelp review history YOU pick and choose what Yelp reviews you want to respond to with what I see are poor practices of justifying your errors by providing excuses for your lack of keeping commitments being professional and providing good customer service! We have used Meathead Movers several times for company and personal services and always had a great experience, until now. There were no visible stains on our mattress topper when the bedding was removed, but the day it arrived there was damp stain that looked and felt fresh and smelled of vomit. We didn't notice it until after they left as it was rolled up. After unrolling it is when we found the stain. We immediately contacted Meathead Movers and their response was if it was them there would been splatters. I don't if it happened from something in the truck, dropping it on the ground etc but it was fine when we left it. It took them two weeks to respond to us, and we asked for the owner to get back to us and instead he had a newly employee call. Never again will we recommend Meathead or use them. read more

I do not recommend using Meathead Movers. They did not send a person to my home to develop the estimate for the move which resulted in serious issues on moving day. The lead mover informed me that many items were not included in the estimate so the cost would be increased. About an hour later he told me he didn't think all of my belongings would fit in the truck they sent and there was not another truck available so they would move the rest of my stuff the next day. I told him I needed everything out of the house that day since escrow was closing the next day. A couple of hours later the lead told me they had secured another truck so everything could be moved. This was hardly the stress free senior citizen move I had been promised. When the trucks arrived at my moving destination, there were 6 movers and two trucks. Because the lower level of the house was being remodeled, everything needed to be placed on the second floor or in the garage. It was impossible for me to monitor all 6 movers to ensure boxes and furniture were placed appropriately. The trucks were emptied, my belongings stacked 3-4 boxes high in a bedroom with one pathway so I could not access most of the boxes. Multiple boxes marked fragile had one or two other boxes stacked on top of them. The garage was a disorganized mess. For example, next day I discovered my dvd player sideways in a plastic trash can in the garage along with a pair of gardening loppers and a dust pan. I was exhausted and frustrated by the time the trucks were emptied and just wanted the moving team gone. The lead did not suggest that we walk through my home to ensure everything was placed appropriately and at that point I did not think to request that. I knew it was a mess and knew that at that hour of the evening, it wasn't going to get fixed. After the movers left, I went to make my bed. I discovered the frame was not fully assembled and that the adjustable mattress had been placed upside down so it could not be plugged in. I called the next day, sending pictures to the gentleman I spoke with, to demonstrate the problems. I was treated as if I was being unreasonable but it was agreed a team would be sent the following afternoon to fix the bed/mattress issue and spend no more than 15 minutes rearranging boxes so that I could access them which was done. I ended up hiring someone to come in to help me with lifting and moving the boxes/items I couldn't lift since the company felt no responsibility to remedy the situation. I know this is a long review but the move was a nightmare experience for me. I sent an e mail and hard copy letter to the company CEO about the problems I experienced and received no reply. Moving is always stressful. I highly recommend hiring Meathead Movers in Fresno for an easy transition into your new living space. The three movers I had were easily able to disassemble my bed, carry my heavy boxes, and carry place everything in my new home within 2.5 hours. Meathead movers was the first professional movers I have ever hired. All I can say is that they were extremely professional, punctual, and very personable. They took great care to maintain social distancing norms, and making the who process as low contact as possible. They had our entire apartment loaded up in 90 minutes and were able to unload in about 2 hrs. The moving crew themselves were great, fun guys, worked hard. They took little breaks here and there, stood around sometimes to watch others move heavy stuff, and even shot baskets in my driveway for a bit, but I had no issue with that since it kept morale up. I tipped them with items I simply did not have time to sell before moving valued around $2,000 and they were very grateful and happy about it. Unfortunately, two issues popped up that the company did not handle satisfactorily at all. 1. We had an outdoor furniture set that included a fire pit and an end table that was hollow inside and held the propane tank for the fire pit. The end table was just a frame that held the propane tank and the table piece that slid over the top. They lost the frame piece, and since the furniture line is discontinued, I cannot procure a replacement. They told me they check the trucks when they get back to the headquarters, but that simply cannot be true because it is a 100% undeniable fact that they loaded it into the truck and did not unload it at my house. This renders the entire fire pit useless unless I commission a custom frame to be built so the propane tube can safely be routed from the end table piece to the fire pit piece again. 2. More importantly, the moving crew accidentally stole my moving dolly. It was a simple black dolly from Home Depot worth ~$100, and I'm not surprised it was taken because Meathead told me themselves that they buy all their dollies at Home Depot as well, so it was likely the same model. Normally, this wouldn't be a huge deal, but the movers came on Wednesday, and we had to be completely out of the house by Friday. There was still 2 refrigerators, a washer, and a dryer in the house, which I had sold and set appointments to be picked up Friday morning. Lo and behold I show up Friday morning and my dolly is gone, so I have to cancel on 2 of the people because they don't have a dolly to get the items out of the house. I called Meathead and Brayden told me I could not speak to anyone but him and they would call me back. He became very rude when I told him I needed to know now whether I needed to go buy a new dolly immediately, or if someone would be bringing it back shortly. I explained how much it would cost me not knowing what the plan was, he did not care at all and robotically repeated that someone would call me back. Brayden needs to be moved to a position that is not customer facing considering he got noticeably frustrated and snappy in face of basic questions. Surprise, no one ever called me back for over a week. I had to re-sell 2 of the appliances that same-day for less money than I had originally to people who could move the items themselves. $300 less total to be exact, so Meathead directly cost me $300 + my $100 dolly (which they still never returned) + the cost of the fire pit frame + hours extra of my time dealing with all the hassle. I requested $500 back, which is fair given the direct loss of money they caused me and the ~$2500 total cost of moving. They gave me a veiled threat of "I can give you $250 now or you can take your chances with our claims department" and wouldn't budge, even after I paid $58 extra up front for additional damage/loss coverage. Extremely dishonest and they clearly don't care about repeat business or referrals, only about maximizing profit. I told them plainly I would not be satisfied with any resolution that wasn't $500, and they did not care one bit. I wasn't trying to negotiate a crazy rate, but simple, provable reimbursement for what I lost because of them. Long story short, the crew did a good job moving the stuff that actually made it to my house, but the company is dishonest and greedy and doesn't care what happens once the crew leaves your house. Anyone who has ever moved knows that there is ALWAYS something that comes up, and Meathead fails miserably in the follow up, which I consider to be the most important aspect when it comes to moving companies. read more
