After all the checks, bill payments, etc have cleared, I finally went into the branch to close the account. The teller was indifferent and it's curious, that even though I've had this account for over 20 years, she didn't ask why I was closing it. When she provided the money that remained in the account, I asked if I could just get a check instead of cash for the $800+ account balances. She advised me that she would have to charge me $10 for a cashier's check. I opted for cash but every recent interaction with this bank affirms my decision to move my accounts elsewhere. read more

This bank is predatory, slow on transactions, quick to nail you with a million overdraft fees that are somehow 45-70$ now. They were great when they were Rabbo bank. The customer service is usually nice, but their policies are terrible. If you overdraft by 1$ and deposit money through paypal, venmo etc. even if its instant it will not process til the next day and give you another overdraft fee. TLDR: Waste of time, unorganized, and misinformed by the employees. I'm a 1st time home buyer and Mechanics Bank had "bought" our loan- meaning they are in charge of it. We got notice that we needed to start making payments to them, and then 15 days later our mortgage was due so we tried to make a payment online. They don't do ACH (bank to bank) unless you have automatic payments set up, which takes 30 days to get set up. So we're forced to go to this location to try and make our payment. We go, they tell us we need to do either cash or some type of check I've never heard of because they can't do a normal bank to bank check. We go get the cash, come back, and now the staff say the loan isn't showing up in their system so we can't make the payment. They told us to try and call back the next day as they believed it would be posted by then. It's inconvenient since it's like an hour drive just to get to this location. We call the next day, they say it's in the system so we can come in and make the payment. We make the drive. And now they're saying "lol jk" basically and that our loan is still not showing up in their system so we STILL cannot make a payment. Waste of time, unorganized, and misinformed by the employees. read more

They took out a portion of my Principal payment only an interest charge the same as my regular payment. Principal payment should not have any interest at all. I sent to payments one for regular payment and once marked as for Principal payment but instead charged me an interest on both! And you cannot reason with them. read more

They have committed fraud numerous times over the course of the last 2 years with their indirect auto lending programs. I have brought it to their attention with the law and they say they don't recognize those laws. So are you above the law mechanics bank? The vice president Steve kolhoff & one lady teller with dark hair who was working at 2:20 pm on June/18/2024 are both jerks & inconsiderate people. You know when you have a small problem that could easily be correctable or fixed but not only they refuse to fix it, they show absolutely zero care or sympathy or empathy that they just made your life so so much harder. So this is the kind of feelings you will get. It is like dealing with a robot; not a human. The problem was very small spelling mistakes on a legitimate cashier's check. But Steve refused to accept it after providing all the proofs and explanations possible and he showed absolutely no sympathy, empathy or consideration whatsoever. I even made the guy who wrote me the cashier check call him. We even made the branch manager of the bank where the cashier check came from and he would not let me cash it. He basically was like you are on your own go figure it out! This visit Left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

I have tried having an account with this bank 3 times in 3 locations and I am so done. The service is lackluster at best and they don't seem to want you or your business to grow or win. I am now standing outside of a location cause I cant6mske a cash deposit on the ATM and of course they are closed. To make matters worse I watched them let another gentleman in and they had him tell me no. This is the last straw for me. I am looking for another bank and hope I can transfer ASAP! read more

Can't say enough good about the people at this Bank. In my view it's how banking should be done. They are the utmost professional, but at the same time they always remember your name and face and make it an enjoyable experience. You don't feel like you're another face in the sea of many customers. I also loved the fact and very proud that this bank "My Bank" did not receive Bail out Money from the Government. The people who make it the Most special there are Nick, Monique, Kristen- I know there are some I am leaving out but they are the ones I mostly deal with and remember when I come in to ask oh how's your husband (he recently had surgery) so they even remember what' personal items you tell them! I just think they care, and should be complimented for that. I also think that as many people that can know that Banking can be pleasurable, and you'll leave with a smile is worth mentioning. I really, REALLY like Mechanics Bank! They offer all the standard services and products that you would expect the typical bank to offer. The deal maker for me was the fact that they offer an account that refunds all ATM fees. So, I can use a Wells Fargo, BOA - any bank's ATM and at the end of the month, I get a credit for the fees that were charged. This single benefit is what did it for me. I have generally gone with big box banks in the past simply for the access to ATMs and HATING to pay any fees. Problem solved! Another fantastic thing about this bank? When I walk in to conduct some business, they know my know my name and greet me using it - every time. That's nice. read more

As I was in search for a new financial institution 11 years ago, I stumbled upon the Mechanics Bank in Rocklin, CA. I inquired about my banking needs, which included personal and business accounts, with the manager at the time (Wes) and the assistant manager who is currently the Roseville office branch manager (Denise) and received exceptionally personalized service that was honest, not misguided and professionally knowledgeable. I found it to be a bank with a very family feel to it. From there, they helped me tailor a financial plan to fit my needs, which far exceeded my expectations. Since then, I have been with the bank and have greatly enjoyed the customer service that I receive from this branch. At this point, I feel like part of the Rocklin/Roseville Mechanics Bank family every time I visit the branch. It's the people like Denise and her gang over there at the Mechanics Bank Roseville Branch which keep customers like myself enjoying my visit while handling any questions or concerns instead making me feel like I'm a number waiting line at the DMV.
