My experience felt like the doctor's role was simply to write a prescription rather than actually evaluate my condition or discuss treatment options. When I asked questions and was looking for medical guidance, I didn't receive any meaningful explanation, opinion, or advice on what might actually help me recover. The billing experience was just as off-putting. I paid cash because I don't have insurance, and I felt like I was treated with suspicion because of it. Before I ever received any treatment, I was asked to pay multiple times and had a credit card terminal put in front of me at least three separate times. Instead of the typical process of receiving a bill or paying at the end of the visit, the focus seemed to be on collecting payment before providing care. If all you need is someone to write a prescription, this place may meet your needs. But if you're looking for a physician who takes the time to evaluate your condition, explain their reasoning, and provide thoughtful medical guidance, I'd recommend going somewhere else. I left feeling rushed, unheard, and no more informed about my condition than when I walked in. read more

My visit with Kandin Maraquin at MedCove Urgent Care in Upland was one of the most unprofessional and upsetting medical experiences I have ever had. I went to urgent care because I had pulled a muscle from excessive coughing. I had strained the back of my neck, had soreness in my chest area, and developed a sharp pain in my side. The pain had been present for several days, and I simply wanted a medical evaluation and possibly medication to help with the discomfort. Instead, what I received was fear, panic, and emotional trauma. Within minutes of speaking to Kandin Maraquin, I was told that I was having a heart attack. Not that it needed to be ruled out. Not that there was concern. I was told I was having a heart attack and needed to go to the ER immediately. If I did not have transportation, I was told an ambulance would be called. I was completely blindsided. What was most alarming was how quickly this conclusion was reached. I felt like he immediately jumped to the worst possible scenario without taking the time to properly evaluate me, ask additional questions, or perform a thorough examination. The entire interaction felt rushed, dismissive, and lacking any level of compassion. I was there less than 10 minutes.. His bedside manner was nonexistent. There was no reassurance, no empathy, and no concern for the emotional impact of what he was saying. It felt as though frightening a patient was of no consequence. I was visibly upset, terrified, and in tears, yet there was no attempt to calm me down or explain things in a professional manner. I left that office genuinely believing I was having a heart attack because of how aggressively and confidently it was presented to me. Even after an EKG at the office, did not indicate that I was having a heart attack, I was still sent to the emergency room. Out of fear, I followed the instructions and spent approximately eight hours in the ER. The outcome? No heart attack. No cardiac emergency. No life-threatening condition. The emergency room physicians determined that my symptoms were consistent with pulled and strained muscles caused by excessive coughing, including the muscles in my neck and chest area. After hours of fear, tears, anxiety, and emotional distress, I was told exactly what I suspected from the beginning. I understand that medical providers must be cautious when chest pain is involved. What I do not understand is how a healthcare professional can communicate in such an alarming, insensitive, and unprofessional manner. There is a significant difference between saying, "I want you evaluated further to be safe," and telling a patient they are having a heart attack before a thorough evaluation has been completed. No patient should leave a medical office traumatized. No patient should leave feeling like they were treated as an inconvenience. No patient should leave in tears because of the way a healthcare provider chose to communicate. My personal impression was that the situation was handled with poor judgment, poor communication, and a complete lack of empathy. I left feeling that my concerns were not thoughtfully evaluated and that the provider was more interested in rushing me out the door than actually treating me. Patients deserve professionalism, compassion, and careful communication. Unfortunately, I experienced none of those things during this visit. This experience was frightening, unnecessary, and completely unacceptable. I would never return to this provider, and I sincerely hope management reviews how patients are being treated because no one should walk into an urgent care for a pulled muscle and leave believing they may be dying. read more

Great location right off the freeway. Walking in, I was pleasantly surprised by how appealing and clean everything looked. The staff was prompt, attentive, and genuinely helpful. I felt cared for and appreciated as a patient. My daughter and I were called into a room quickly, and the nurse was friendly, taking time to understand all of our concerns and medical history. Dr. G came in shortly after and was just as attentive. He made sure he understood everything we shared, examined my daughter thoroughly, and explained his thoughts and plan of action clearly. He made sure we understood each step and didn't have any additional questions. We were in and out faster than we've ever been at an urgent care, and it was one of the best experiences we've had. I needed an X Ray and chose to made an appointment that morning at 9am instead of turning up at 8 when they open - thinking there might be less waiting. I was actually seen very quickly, which is always great in an urgent care facility, but above all, everyone I met was very caring and took the time to listen to my full history before giving a diagnosis. I had a really great experience here. They have x-ray on site, which is nice and definitely not always the case with urgent care centers. It's new and clean and beautiful in there. The nurse practitioner was awesome! She listened to my concerns and was very helpful. I was able to make an appointment online for that same day. The facility is clean and new. They offer X-rays which most urgent cares do not. They offer appointments but they don't mean anything. You will still wait until those who arrived before you are seen. The doctors are good and give good care. I have been to other urgent cares in the area that offer quick service with excellent care. I chose this facility for the appointment. Since they do not honor the appointment times, i will probably go back to the one on Haven I usually go to. read more

This is my second time at Medcove and both times we saw Dr. Lucinda Schoenick. I am an RN myself and can honestly say she is the best of the best. She is more thorough than most private practice pediatrician. I brought my daughter in for a specific urgent care need, expressed my concern for other issues, instead of sending us to my pediatrician, she ordered blood panel and even made referrals. This time is for my other daughter and again we were well taken cared of. I'm very grateful that Medcove offers high quality healthcare service. Avoid if possible!!! I recently visited this urgent care, making an appointment in advance and completing the patient intake form on line as part of their reservation system (it's required) and uploaded my id and insurance card. When I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment their staff said they didn't know how to use the system and I was asked to complete paper intake forms. They have no respect for appointments, I was their 40 minutes waiting for my second set of intake paper to be processed. After they took my vitals, I was asked to wait in this exam room that had no privacy but a great view of the parking lot. They did move me to a little more private room eventually. When I finally was seen by the doctor, they are more concerned to stop the exam to have me pay the extra copay for the suggested test mid exam than treating me. After I paid for the test, they realized they didn't have any on hand to run. The walls are paper thin, I could hear the entire conversation in the next exam room. Maybe don't talk right outside of the door about not having the test and asking if I was already charged... They swabbed for the test anyway, and sent me on my way and said they would call me with the results. This was a total waste of an hour and 20 minutes, I know nothing more amount my illness than when I walked in. read more

Medcove Urgent Care in Upland is the best urgent care I've *ever* visited. 5 stars in each of the following categories: 1) Staff customer service: Everyone I interacted with was very kind and genuinely helpful! The medical staff here is so dope! Aurelio gave knowledgeable, quick answers when I called prior to booking an appointment and his demeanor is what led me to book an appointment! Outstanding guy! 2) Appointment booking: It's super easy to book an appointment online and there were available next-day appointments. The process is shortened because there's an online form that allows you to fill-out visit and patient information ahead of time. (This was super modern and I really appreciated not having to fill out a clipboard stack of papers. I'm apart of Gen Z so I'm all for efficiency and this no-paper environmental friendly addition.) 3) Quality of care: Everyone was respective of calling me by my preferred name with no slip-ups. In addition, Aurelio was gentle when taking tests (blood pressure) and asking for my measurements. Dr. Lucinda had great bedside manner and was very knowledgeable and attentive when I shared what happened. The Dr exceeded expectations by asking appropriate questions, genuinely hearing my concerns, and taking the right course of action. She submitted the prescription request immediately and within minutes, I received a notification from my pharmacy that the prescription was being prepared with no delay! When performing the shot I needed, Alicia was very sweet and gentle and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Marissa at the front desk was kind as well! She asked applicable questions and was helpful with getting checked-in. 3) Wait time: There was barely any wait. Upon arrival, I waited less than 20 minutes total from my appointment time to be seen by a doctor. Throughout my appointment, the doctor (Dr. Lucinda) came in timely and I received necessary treatment promptly. 4) Appearance of facility: The waiting room was visibly clean with no visible debris or clutter. The patient room was also very clean. Everything was kept well and you can tell there's a great standard of sanitation. There's also a newish TV in the waiting room to watch while you wait. I'm one that's a little leery when it comes to doctors because of my past experiences but I had an exceptional doctor at Medcove. Her name is Dr. Lucinda Schoenick. Had a great experience at this urgent care. Facility: The facility is clean, modern, and comfortable. I've been to a lot of urgent care facilities over the years, and MedCove is by far the best looking! Process: I filled out paperwork and was quickly brought into the triage. Staff: The two gals who triaged me were both warm and professional. I honestly couldn't have asked for better staff to work with. I was diagnosed with a sinus infection (knew it!) and the doc was really polite and thorough. I felt that I was cared for and that I was in good hands, which is a sentiment I can't extend to every medical visit I've had in the past. Overall: Had a great experience at this urgent care. I made a 10 am appointment on their website for the doctor to call me, I filled out all the forms and signed the consent. I called at 11 to see when they would be calling. I was told that they were a little busy and to wait about 20 minutes, an hour later I was called to ask about supplemental insurance. At 1:19pm I was called and asked for $125 payment, I told them I had never been called, and he could not let me know when I would be called. I canceled the appointment . I have excellent insurance and couldn't believe it was going to cost $125 . This is no way to do business. I will call someone else. read more

Took my son for a finger injury on a Sunday around 6pm. We were called back within about 45 minutes (the waiting room was definitely full so the wait time was understandable). The receptionist was incredibly nice as well as the nurse that took my sons vitals. He needed xrays which they thankfully did there and the xray tech was incredibly sweet with him as he is younger. Dr G was very nice and explained a treatment plan for us for his sprained finger and provided a splint. I would definitely use them again if need be. read more

This provider did not do a thorough work up or listen to my concerns. Immediately disregarded my symptoms to be something that I have had and dealt with for a long time. Was looking for a place to get a TB test for a requirement in order volunteer in my son's classroom. Called around and everywhere else it was $115-$150. A friend told me about MedCove, it's only been open for a week, and it was only $50!!! I walked in, filled out paperwork, paid, got my TB test and was back in my car leaving all within 15 minutes!! There is nothing "urgent" about this urgent care facility. I walked in and saw 2 patients waiting and asked how long it would take to see a doctor. They advised me that it would be 45 min. Well, the 45 min ended up being 2 hours and for some reason I was skipped. The receptionist agreed they accidentally skipped me. Honest mistake! The reason for this review is that although the facility/clinic is brand new and literally around the corner to my house, the operation seems disorganized and has a lot to improve on. No one is happy to make a trip to an urgent care, but I feel that the staff needs to be more empathetic to incoming patients. I saw numerous patients in the waiting area (approx 4) repeatedly ask the receptionist, "How much longer will it take to be seen?" Everyone appeared to be agitated, overhearing numerous complaints on how slow the medical staff took. Emergency rooms move quicker than the staff here at Medcove. When over the counter meds aren't helping your flu/sore throat, we typically know when prescribed meds are needed. Going to see a doctor for a flu is the last resort, but my symptoms were so severe that I know I needed antibiotics to get better. The thing that tripped me up was when the PA said that there was nothing he could do for me and that he was "pretty limited". He was unwilling to prescribe antibiotics even after noticing that my tonsils were swollen and irritated. He advised that I drink a lot of water and get lidocaine spray. I honestly felt like he didn't care about my condition, and I believe this due to the fact that there was another patient with the same symptoms and he had spent upwards of 30 minutes with his exam and only spent 5 minutes with me. I then decided to make the drive 30 minutes away to another urgent care facility that I have used in the past. This PA actually did a thorough exam, not only noticing the throat infection, but that there was air behind my eardrums. He said that many patients were coming in lately due to ear infections. He proceeded to prescribe meds and sent me on my way. I know not all physician assistants are created equal and just like any other profession there are good and bad ones. I had high hopes for this facility being that they are new new and so close to home. I don't know if medical staff here are less experienced or its just because the facility is too new. I can't put my finger on it, but I think you'll agree with me if you make a visit here. Sad to say that I'll never return do this experience. read more

I don't normally leave reviews unless I feel the service was exceptional. Medcove staff were courteous from the front desk, nurse to the practitioner. Medical facilities are usually difficult for me being that they cause me stress and anxiety. That all went away here and I think it was due to their warm demeanor of the staff. I felt I was being treated by family. Although it seemed I came during their peak hours; they were about quality of care and didn't feel they were trying to rush me out until I was treated. I was feeling super sick and just wanted to feel better before the holidays arrive. I was so impressed by the staff, they were so nice! Not to mention the office, it was so clean and put together with adorable Christmas decoarations. I had to wait about an hour to be taken in, but they texted me when they were ready for me, so I had time and knew when to be back to pick up a Starbucks next door and grabbed a medicine bomb to help with my sickness. How great and convenient is that! My doctor was great and I also want to shoutout the amazing xray technician and MA who assisted me, I believe their names were Ariel and Christina. I honestly wish they had zero stars as an option. First of all I only chose this place because they had available appointments, and 2 because you could do a pre check for all the insurance and paperwork. I figured since this was an option it would be a quicker visit. Boy was I wrong...I walk to the front desk there's no line and I'm standing there for about 2 mins and nothing. Finally a couple more mins and they tell me they'll be right with me. Remember there is 2 ladies at the front and they aren't helping any other customers. Finally they say how can I help you I tell them I have an appointment give them my name and let them know I filled out the info all online. She tells me so you filled it out already. So I say it again yes I filled out all the info...she said go ahead and sit down we'll check you in shortly. My appointment was at 9:30am it was past 10am still nothing. So I call over to haven elite 3 exits away and find out they have no wait. I told them I'm leaving because I was tired of waiting she just told me okay lol. Great customer service guys! NEVER AGAIN. GO TO HAVEN ELITE I was in and out in less than 45 mins and I got X-rays. Medcove is a joke and they need new front desk ladies, the business is brand new and you can tell they hate their job already. read more

They were so helpful here! I went in with my mom from a car crash incident and they helped us immediately.They helped us file an accident report and quickly took us in to take X-rays all over making sure nothing was broken and we were okay.The doctor was excellent and so helpful and nice as well as the ladies up front .Very sweet and making sure we were fine through out our visit there.Also they were kind enough to call us days later to make sure we were doing fine .We are so grateful for their generosity and certainly will be coming back here .
