Johanna helped me out a lot! The other receptionist before in the back desk was giving me a hard time. When I came she was trying to charge me a pending copay that was not taken care of last visit. When I made this appointment I wasn't aware of me having to do two copays, since it was a couple months ago and therefore I wasn't prepared. I really needed this appt today and the front desk lady Veronica was ready to CANCEL my appt, even though I told her I would be willing to pay today's copay and pay the other one in the days to follow on my payday. As I was really in need of today's appt, which I expressed multiple times! Luckily Joanna the other front desk miss saw my desperation and stepped in and made this a much easier process. I think it's important to honor policy and do your job but I was really looking for some compassion since I wasn't preprared financially for two copays. Thanks Joanna for showing compassion and my Dr. Christina was and always is amazing and makes me feel so comfortable when I come! Thank you guys overall! After being with Kaiser for years and then changing insurance to United Healthcare I'm not ready to give an accurate recommendation on this new doctors office. For now however the office experience was decent the ladies were friendly. As far as being efficient not so much at all, unsure of it's the office environment, lack of efficiency expectations but it's something. There is a lack of efficiency in customer service in public spheres but since we are locked in until open enrollment we will make the best of it. read more

I can see that the reviews are mostly for Dr. Zuniga, which I should've more thoroughly read through before choosing Dr. Espinosa as my primary. I have given her a few opportunities to prove that maybe first impression was just on a bad day. No. Every experience I've had has been pretty awful, and it all has to do with her bedside manner. The second she walks in, there is no hello, how are you, no smile. The most flat affect I've ever seen to be honest. She looks at me like I am the biggest inconvenience to exist. She hardly makes eye contact as she is typing essentially the entire time. No warmth at all. Any question I ask, I've been made to feel like a complete idiot for even asking. The only reason for a 2nd star is because she has honored the labs I've asked for. But Jeez does she seem to absolutely hate her job. Anyone who has left a positive experience with her, I am genuinely confused. A few examples of conversations: Me: I've been struggling to lose weight. Her: You need to eat smaller portions. Don't go for seconds. Eat salads. Don't snack. Me: Yeah believe me I've tried. I have PCOS and am on medication that makes it really difficult to lose weight. How could I go about trying ozempic? I've read that it helps regulate insulin resistance for women with PCOS. Her: *looks at me like I just asked her for a million dollars cash* IM NOT JUST GONNA GIVE YOU OZEMPIC. OH AND BY THE WAY INSURANCE WONT COVER IT. *scoffs at me like I am the biggest idiot on the planet.* Another example: Me: I am here because I am feeling extreme fatigue and I have bruises all over my legs. I'm also getting a fever frequently and seemingly out of nowhere. Her: OK WELL ARE YOU HITTING YOURSELF ALL THE TIME OR SOMETHING?? Me: No. I'm not. Her: K. I'll order you some labs. (Doesn't specify what labs) Me: I was hoping you could order labs to check for autoimmune issues. Her: I SAID IM ORDERING LABS!! Her communication and tone is so disrespectful and disgusting. PS: my insurance DOES cover glp-1 for my health related issues, and I was extremely deficient in B12, causing the bruising and fatigue. And really? Telling me to eat less and eat salads? As if I haven't tried that, and that is such outdated advice. I don't know. I think she's burned out or something. But we shouldn't have to be on the receiving end of that. Will never step foot in there again. Please know that as a healthcare worker myself (RN), we are not all like her, and nobody needs to be spoken to and treated like this. There are many other doctors and PCP that will speak to You with respect at the bare minimum. read more

After giving this practice three changes, I can confidently say I 100% agree with the review recently left by Kimberly S. I've been seen by Dr. Darlene Espinosa three times now, and each visit has left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed. She comes across as very unapproachable, and I've never felt like my concerns were taken seriously. Each time I've explained the reason for my visit, I was met with a dismissive response that made me feel dumb for even coming in. While I understand that not every PCP is warm and fuzzy, I do believe that in healthcare, when patients often come in feeling unwell, vulnerable or anxious, it's so important to make them feel heard, respected and cared for. Not as if they are there to just waste your time. If that level of empathy and communication isn't something you're willing to bring to your role, healthcare may not be the right field. I recently moved and was looking for a new primary doctor. I decided to try edge family medicine after seeing all the great reviews, in my honest opinion one star is more than enough Dr. Espinoza was kind enough however the office staff is incredibly rude and treat you like your bothering them for being there. My main complaint comes from when I requested a refill of my Zepbound medication that I have been on for a little less than a year (I've successfully lost 57lbs on it) the pharmacy let me know I would need a pre authorization when I called the doctors office to let them know they rudely said "THE INSURANCE WONT APPROVE IT" which I was confused about since I specifically had picked my new insurance because they covered my medication. After calling my insurance and finding out they actually do cover it with a pre authorization I called the office back to explain it. I was told it was their "policy" to not do pre authorizations for any ozempic like medications unless you were a diabetic (which I am not) I tried explaining that I had been on this medication for a while now and it had been successfully working yet they were "1000% sure" the insurance would deny it and wouldn't even try to send the paper work. I have never been to a doctor who refuses to do the paper work for their patients medication. I will gladly drive 30-40 minutes to my previous doctor than ever deal with the rudeness and unwillingness to help their patients at edge family medicine ever again. read more

I've had dr. Darlene Espinoza for about a year before I got fed up with the way she treated me and how her staff are. She was my first primary dr when I got my new insurance, her office staff are literal children, always acting rude and disrespectful. My first day meeting dr Espinoza? She sure made me feel like I was stupid for an 18 year old. I'd assume she just had a long day, I stayed and dealt with it, until she kept treating me like I was stupid for asking questions based on my illness of Hyperthyroidism. She was not only rude and made sure I was felt stupid for asking questions about my health, she in fact was very uneducated and relied on chat gpt and google. And would have the audacity to ask me what she wants me to do on my health. Every review you see that is a 2 or lower, it is the truth. They are not happy people that need to get a life and act like real adults. It's ridiculous. read more

I accompanied my husband to his initial office visit to establish himself as a patient. Dr. Mike Zuniga listened to his needs and concerns and took the time to answer all of his questions. Dr. Z is also extremely personable; you can tell that he loves being a doctor and being of service to his patients. We were assisted back to the exam room by Xavier who completely engaged with us. He communicated what he was doing and took his time to assure that my husband understood his questions. A few days later, I had to contact the office regarding a referral on my husband's behalf. Each time I called I spoke with Jesse Lopez who was always available to speak with and beyond helpful. And his demeanor was so friendly and professional. This was our first time being a patient at this clinic. We recently switched our primary doctor to them since they are closer to us. This facility is very clean, and is located in a new plaza in Upland. This is a fairly new building and it next to many dentist clinics. Our appointment was with Dr. Espinosa and she was very friendly and courteous. She was attentive and asked a lot of good questions. Marty, one of their front desk staff, was also very friendly and was able to help us book an appointment for the diagnostic test we needed. I followed Dr. Zuniga to his new practice, used to see him at Aspen. He is by far the best GP I have ever seen. He takes his time with you, really listens and understands your issues, and is always up on the latest. I think the staff is really great as well, they have great follow up, are friendly and quick. Highly recommend this practice! I have also seen Dr. Espinoza and she is wonderful as well! You can't go wrong at this practice! I will always remember when I had an insurance issue trying to get an MRI and Dr. Zuniga literally got on the phone in our appointment and made some calls...15 min later he was able to resolve the issue. Dr. Espinosa is a competent doctor, and Dr. Zuniga is extremely knowledgeable and very personable. But, their office staff are extremely rude and unprofessional. They left me on hold for 40 minutes, and it's almost impossible to get an appointment. Whoever answers the phone has no personality and is not very helpful.
