The next summer, it also wasn't blowing cold air and was dropping condensation onto our wood floors. I continued to call him but he would not answer my calls. I called him from my wife's phone and he picked up right away. He told me he would come out again to check the system but after that, refused to answer calls from both phones. This was an expensive system and he tried to do the install as quick as he could while taking shortcuts. To make it worse, you can't even get ahold of him to follow up on mistakes. Bought my home 20 years ago. AC system installed was inadequate for the size of my house (2100sq). After 18-19 years the system started to give me problems. When I ran the AC during mid afternoon to early evening, the system would often trip the breaker. The condenser fan would shut off and all I would get is warm air in the house. First of all, it was happenstance I met Mario (owner-operator) with Medel Air Pro Heating & Air. He was a referral from an Electrician who provided me an estimate for a panel replacement. Although I did not accept his proposal, he put me in touch with Mario, and for that I am grateful! I was considering adding a central air conditioner to my single family home (the panel upgrade was a prerequisite to ensure there's a dedicated breaker for the condenser). I also had an old gas furnace (believed to be 50 years old that still blew hot air) that lacked the technology to interface with the condensing unit. Mario informed me of the various equipment manufacturers and their reliability, and educated me on their features including efficiencies. He offered his recommendations based on expected use. I settled on RUUD's 16 SEER condenser and 80% efficient 3-ton split upflow furnace with evaporator coil. Then there was the matter of the existing ductwork, which only provided ventilation to the "main" areas of the house. As Building Codes back in the 70's may not have required, the ducting/vents were not configured to all bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchen. No problem, just extend the ductwork like some of the other contractors said they'd do. Not convinced based on the information I conveyed, Mario calculated the air-flow based on the diameter of the existing ductwork and concluded there would be insufficient distribution. In fact, if the airflow is not balanced, I'd be unhappy if there wasn't equilibrium. Notwithstanding whether the ductwork could be retrofitted, when Mario first examined the property, he verified there was asbestos tape around the boots and registers. In order to prevent asbestos from dislodging and inhalation if disrupted, the tin ducting absolutely needed to be removed and replaced. Not only did Mario have a referral with whom he coordinated the abatement, he was also onsite to oversee and construct a new plenum and prepare installation of new R8 ducting and a temperature-controlled power roof vent to keep the attic from reaching excessively high temperatures. Passing an independent Title 24 HERS testing demonstrated there were no leaks. Mario pulled a Permit before the work got started, which was signed off by the City after a recent inspection. The high-quality installation included all new components to retrofit furnace, double wall exhaust pipe, running new refrigerant lines, drains, cutting in 5 new supply vents (including patching!). He is responsive to phone, email and text messages; and provided me with responses/answers so that I was always aware. Medel Air Pro Heating & Air really saved the day for my family and I. We recently purchased a home in Sacramento and the existing design did not provide adequate flow upstairs and specifically in the Master Bedroom. We had several companies come out and either they provided a ridiculous quote, or did not have a clue what the real issue was. After one consultation, Medel identified the issue and provided solutions at very good cost compared to other competitors. We were able to get a new Condenser, Furnance, Coil, and new duct work. Medel also installed new zone boards, new dampers, and adjusted the registers. The end result was a very efficient and a very cool house. The new Condenser is very efficient and very quiet. The air flow is amazing and with the weather being 107 degrees last weekend, the system performed great!! He provides a great warranty with 1 year labor and 10 years for the Coil, Condenser, and Furnance. Before Medel serviced our home, we were unable to sleep upstairs. They provided great customer service, laid out rug runners, and cleaned up well at the end of the job. What I really appreciate is the owner's (Mario Medel) commitment towards providing a great product and an even better overall experience. I will definitely be using them to perform annual preventative maintenance and tune-ups. In addition, they were very punctual and completed the entire job in less than two days. Furnace had issues afterwards so tech came back to inspect it. Said they'd call me back and let me know after research. Never heard anything. I recently had my AC unit replaced by Medel Air Pros. I was referred to Mario by a family member. From the start Mario came and scoped out and quoted the work that needed to be done. He made the time to fit me in first thing in the morning on his busy schedule. I then decided to go with Medel Air to replace my AC system. We have a two story home with an air condition unit just over 30 years old. Our upstairs is always hot during the summer as our air system does not cool the upstairs. We called Mario at Medel Air Pro and he came out the very next day to give us an estimate. He suggested that we place a unit to run the upstairs for the best efficiency. He gave us a fair price and we went with him. Because we were going to have our house painted, he moved us up on his schedule so some outside pipes he was installing could be painted.
