Dr. Metyas is very pleasant and has excellent bedside manner. He is up to date on new medical research and knowledge, he listens to my complaints and always reviews my current medications. I used to see Dr. Castellanos when I was a kid with my mom, roughly between the ages of…read more12-15(2004-2007). Now as an adult I've realized how horrendous of a doctor he was. Our family eventually stopped seeing him after 3 years of being under his care. We went to him because it was hard to find doctors who spoke Spanish in our area at the time. I'll start with the worst. My mom used to be really concerned for her health. Over time we realized her concerns were signs of what she's now developed, diverticulitis and other digestive issues. She often came in with pain and explained her concerns. Dr. Castellanos would tell my mom that she was fine and to take ibuprofen. Any time she came in it was the same thing even though her symptoms progressed - continue to take ibuprofen. Eventually she told my mom she was too worried and was a bother. We finally stopped going to see him when she used the restroom and found blood in her stool. She developed ulcers in her throat and stomach that were very painful when eating. After we stopped going to see him we found out all of her symptoms were the beginning of diverticulitis. In 2009 she ended up going to the ER because she was heavily bleeding when she used the bathroom. A diverticula had burst open and it was discovered she has 3 total that had developed. She was taken to emergency surgery. She's suffered through diverticulitis ever since with multiple ER visits. Dr. Castellanos was negligent as a doctor when presented with symptoms. He could have referred her to a gastroenterologist but never did. We had HMO at the time and eventually switched to PPO but it was after dealing with him. For my own case, I developed gastro issues around 12 and realized I had sensitivity to certain foods that lead to a lot of gas and odd noises in my intestines. I felt shy about it as a kid but was worried because I didn't want to sit in class having those noises come from my intestines because well... it was awkward. My side of the classroom could hear my gas issues and I didn't understand what was causing it. When I told him he blew me off and told me to eat more fiber. I didn't bother more about it or ask because I was too ashamed to ask more. Years later I realized I had food sensitivities and that I need to be careful to avoid dairy. All of this to say - I would absolutely NEVER recommend anyone to see Dr Castallanos. My mom could have sued him for negligence but decided not to. Seeing him still in practice now and talking to family about health made me 20 years later have to go back to write this.

She kept consistently lowering my testosterone dose unnecessarily and when I voiced my concerns about it because I didn't want to lose muscle, she was dismissive, disrespectful and said "I'm not concerned with how much muscle you have. I'm concerned with your health". Right...smh. That might sound good but trust me, she doesn't give a sh*t about my health. She cares about covering her *ss. I build machines and performance cars and maintaining my strength and muscle mass is important to being able to do my job. I came in and Johana checked me in. I was missing some questions on forms and that got squared away along with my insurance card. Quick vitals check and then Dr. Snyder and his scribe came in shortly. I indicated I was looking for a primary care physician. He thoroughly explained he is not that and more of a specialist. We figured out it was still the appropriate venue to schedule a procedure. He then recommended a primary care physician. All in all, professional from the moment I walked in, checking in and meeting with Dr. Snyder.

I just came today after a referral from my car accident. The office is pretty old and run down and…read morenormally I would ignore that if the service was good. But, the front office staff was really unprofessional and some older lady who worked up front said really loudly when I walked in, "Oh she must be here for workers comp! (Grunted) Tell her we don't do that here (which they do)." I felt that was somewhat inappropriate and discriminatory. They also were very confused and didn't have any appointments on record. There was one nice younger lady that tried to help me somewhat. And even though she lacked professionalism also, at least she tried to see if there was an appointment. All in all, I told them never mind and I'll ask for a different referral.l elsewhere. This review is not about the service because I never got to have it, but there needs to be training on professionalism for the front office staff. Especially for folks who are coming in with pain. The doctors and assistants are wonderful. I am thankful to them, for their attention to the care that I needed, plus I'm appreciative of their knowledge. It only takes me 15 minutes to get there, but, if it was on my way to work, I wouldn't have mind it so much. - The location is very secluded, hard to find. Right behind a church. - The Doctor has a bunch of students there. Maybe they are interns, maybe he will hire them to work there permanently once they graduate. Or other reasons, not sure... but confused, for that huge clinic, is he the ONLY doctor? - The doctor didn't look like a doctor, but more like an accountant. He didn't have a white coat on, like all doctors do. I thought that was strange. (Although, every time I've seen him, he is always dressed very nice.) With that being said... I was really upset when I found out all these, and was looking for doctors closer to home, AND a female doctor... but, I had lots of issues with my insurance company, having to switch doctors was becoming a headache. I let it go. and now, since I've already visited this office, approx 4 or 5 times now, I feel comfortable to say that I want to stay with him. Far away, male, or coat-less, I don't care... I like him, he is a great doctor. The clinic is huge and immaculate. The staff is super friendly. The nurse, very sweet. and so gentle when she draws blood for the lab. There are times, I wait over an hour with having an appointment. And then, I've done a walk in without an appointment, and did not even wait 15 minutes. Go figure!

So I finally realized that I didn't have a choice and had to go. Wow, was I happily surprised! The staff was friendly and respectful and helpful. And I felt that my new Cleaver doctor knew more about my medical problem than my previous HMO doctor! I had arrived as a walk-in later than I'd planned, and I figured I'd never get in. The receptionist was nice, though she warned that there were three people on their waiting list ahead of me who were waiting for cancellations, but that I could fill out paperwork and wait and maybe get lucky. I filled out the paperwork (surprisingly not awful) and waited. And then I got in, with 1.5 hours left for them to examine me. All in all, I'm extremely pleased with my experience at the Cleaver Family Wellness Clinic, and particularly with Dr. Ignacio Artola.
