Taking my child to this clinic was a horrible decision. In 2025, my son and I, visit for anual check up and ending geting too many treatment we didn't needed. The dentist also, told us that my son needed a rooth canal in one of his theet, and gave us a treatment plan for a ceramic crown that was meant to be placed after the root canal gets done. After the visit, they demand me to pay half of the ceramic crown that wasn't even started! I told them I can't pay that money af we didn't get the crown done. They insist that we needed to pay half of the money that day as the thoot was cleaned and they had placed a cap which really, came off the same day. I ended paying a lot mof money out o my pocket wich made me very upset. This year, my son got his rooth canal and the ceramic crown in another place, however, Media Dental is insisting in billing me foor the ceramic crown and also, submitting a claim to my insurance. I tried to speak wiht the supervisor but, never call me back, I sent them a letter through a lawyer but they ignore it. I am preparing a formal complain for charging for a treatment they haven't done, and for all the stress they has caused me due to the harrasment they are doing, sending constant threats to put me in collection agency. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE that started at Bootway Dental, part of a larger group owned by a man named Dr. Jiten/Jay Gohel who will literally never be available to talk. There are multiple HIPAA violations through my experience and a potential board violation. AVOID ALL OF THESE: Media Dental Associates - (610) 565-0525 Bootway Dental - (610) 701-0102 Conshohocken Dental Arts - (610) 828-1640 Great Valley Dental Associates - (610) 947-0393 Glenside Dental Associates - (215) 884-1595 January 8th: I go to Bootway Dental requesting help with periodontal disease. I pay out of pocket ($226.75) to be evaluated and X-rayed and told that deep cleanings will solve my problem. January 28th: I start this program, all out of pocket ($612.56) and I get the first of two deep cleanings. There are mistakes in my notes (I am not on 3 medications, nor do I have life threatening conditions--this is a HIPAA violation). The notes mention that I have periodontal disease. I am given Arestin but am not prescribed any antibiotics nor spoken to by a doctor. The notes say a dentist I never met saw me. February 13th (Bootway): Go back for the other side to be deep cleaned. Pay out of pocket again ($698.91). Notes appear to be mostly copied from the last set, but now there is another doctor I have NEVER met listed on it. Note show that I have low levels of pocketing. I am given some Arestin but not administered antibiotics. April 3rd (Bootway): I come back in for a maintenance cleaning and check, also out of pocket ($309.00). I am told that I have some deeper pockets than I was originally told, and the hygienist says that I may need osseus surgery but I am NOT referred to one and the dentist does not even come out; no dentist is listed on my notes. There is also a discrepancy in the pattern of the notes, with only one short paragraph instead of the standard of three pages so far. I requested the missing pages as of 12/3. July 11th (Bootway): I come back for a maintenance cleaning and check, also out of pocket ($146.26). I am now CONGRATULATED by the team that my teeth are coming along, and we are looking good. I am offered a night guard, and I decline due to cost ($550) and lack of explanation why this is so important. The dentist (Matthew) does come in, but she's dismissive and seemed annoyed to be there, so I figure they just want money. I request laser to both the hygienist and dentist, but I am denied due to the person being out. The file notes I received are FOR ANOTHER PATIENT as I am not malnourished, do not have a piercing and am not missing 8 teeth. This is a HIPAA violation/potential dental board violation (we shall see). I had moved in April and did not want to drive back out to Bootway again, so I decide to try their Media location: https://www.media.dental/ October 15th (Media): I come in for another maintenance cleaning and am again brushed off about the laser. As my cleaning is almost done, the hygienist asks if he can probe (they did not do this) because his experience in my mouth does not match what he saw on the charts from the last probe of my mouth (note that these are all inconsistent). He recalls them and it gets really serious suddenly. I am then accosted by Dr. Tran who tells me both my molars need to be pulled out. As I am full on crying, the Dr. Tran LAUGHS at me then goes away and never comes back. The Office Manager then comes in with a $6k quote to pull both the molars and asks if I want it done today. I am now hysterical at this point. To calm me down, they offer me a free periodontist consultation before then end of the week. There is a discrepancy in the pattern of the notes here again; I requested the missing pages as of 12/3. October 17th (Media): I meet the rudest periodontist ever who tries to explain to me why this is my fault and that the teeth must come out and there is no other option. All he does is lambaste me and tell me I'm basically too dumb to understand why my teeth must be pulled and that that's just all there is. October 27th: After pushing, I am connected to practice manager, Jennifer Maher who promises that I will AT A MINIMUM, be reimbursed everything I have paid for the experience. She states that I will have to sign something in the office, and I say I have my mom visiting, so can I do it next week. I am ghosted until December 3rd, when I ask for the missing files AGAIN to be ignored AGAIN. Before this time, I tried emailing and requested the owner's contact information to just continue being ignored. It took me over 20 days initially to get my files, and some of my files are being withheld despite being asked for. This is ANOTHER HIPPA violation. I made an appt for an extraction prior to going off the grid in South America. I was given a lengthy sales pitch for an implant, which I was not interested in. Then they said they couldn't do the extraction that day, since I needed a "treatment plan." I insisted, saying I hadn't driven all this way to chat and listen to a sales pitch, reiterating my time pressure, and finally declaring firmly that today's treatment plan was "Extract my upper right bicuspid." I signed an agreement that the total charge to me was $88.50 (I have dental insurance) and they finally pulled to tooth. I paid the bill. Returning to the U.S. I found a bill in the mail for $311.50. I emailed them, and they immediately replied that I was right and my balance was zero. Today, I got a bill for $223.00. Then a voicemail, but when I returned the call she had left for the day. read more

It's too bad there's nothing below 1 star on this scale because after reading the other reviews (below) I feel like a total sucker. Like others have said, they are a SCAM. The old 'cleaning and a crown' routine. I've never been told I needed a crown but they turned on their magical 3-D imaging machine and pointed to the cracks in my tooth and warned that it would one day fall apart. Then, this is where the insurance coverage scam comes in, where they tell you it's covered by insurance (or partially covered) so you go ahead with the procedure (after all, my tooth is cracked, right?). It was the MOST PAINFUL PROCEDURE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE. Months later my insurance says it was not a necessary procedure and denied the claim. Thus, ensued a month's long dispute on the phone with Jonathan, who said - 'don't worry we'll resubmit the claim and it should all be cleared up.' They did this three times. No coverage. I'm on the hook for over $500 (plus the 500 I already paid). I should have trusted my instincts in the waiting room. Who puts a coffee bar in a dentist office? What self-respecting dentist would need to enter their patients in a sweepstakes to win a new car? (hint: The ones who need more and more patients to replace the ones who never go back.) read more

They are worse than the corrupt stereotypical mechanic that overcharges and does jobs that aren't necessary, but this is a HUMAN LIFE. I've struggled with severe TMJ disorder pain for years and years and years. I've used a variety of night guards (custom-made and over-the-counter) without success. I finally decided it was time to do something about this, so I made an appointment with a specialist at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. I thought - hey, who else would be better equipped to talk about new treatments than the folks at Penn? After an appointment that amounted to a colossal waste of time (the recommendation was PT and RX strength naproxen) I decided to talk to my primary care doctor about what to do. She suggested I talk with the folks at Media Dental. I made an appointment with Dr. Jay to talk specifically about using Botox as a treatment for the pain. I read online that using Botox to treat TMJ pain has had some success, and desperate times call for desperate measures! Upon arriving at the practice I was surprised to find they have a huge parking lot, a massage chair in the waiting room, and the place is just overall enormous and bougie. The staff offer you drinks. They give you a "welcome gift" (a water bottle and a pop socket). They really go out of their way to make you comfortable. They even have walkie talkies to communicate with staff around the office. My appointment with Dr. Jay was really encouraging. He told me that he hasn't done Botox injections in someone with TMJ for the specific purpose of pain relief, but he'd do some research about it. The conversation went in a completely different direction when he expressed that he himself has TMJ, uses a very particular kind of night guard, and has used Botox on himself. He walked me through the parts of the jaw and helped me locate my own face muscle to feel how strong it was. He even had me touch HIS face muscle to show me what he was trying to say! I don't think I've ever squeezed a physician's face before, but I can scratch that one off my bucket list, I guess. At any rate - he recommended a completely different treatment plan, which involves a particular type of night guard that I've never seen before as well as muscle relaxers before bedtime. I felt really validated when he scoffed at the RX strength naproxen solution from Penn and the recommendation for PT. He understood that clenching/bruxism is an UNCONSCIOUS thing that happens WHEN YOU'RE ASLEEP and some PT is going to fix that sort of repetitive trauma. While I am still completely devoted to my regular dentist (Dr. Rose in Crum Lynne), if I didn't have him, I'd be going to MDA for my routine care. I will happily use MDA in the future for my more advanced dental needs! read more

Other posters here have noted the insurance fraud and random inexplicable bills that this business sends out. This has been the only complaint I've vocally and repeatedly shared with the business, but since you know about this problem from other reviewers, let me share a few more. -I came in during peak Covid. they put a shop vac filled with diluted bleach up to my face to "protect us all from covid." I'm as big a covid stickler as anyone but this genuinely made me uncomfortable, and was not disclosed beforehand nor was I given an alternative. Nonetheless, I referred a loved one go in because they had lots of availability. The dentist said "oh my god" when she looked in his their, then "do you brush your teeth?" This person does not have gross rotten teeth, but even if they did I can't believe they thought these comments appropriate. For me, they pushed Invisalign which I understand, but the tactics involved were like telling me my teeth would all collapse into my mouth imminently. It's just terrible customer service, especially for anyone with anxiety. My very first appt, I was told to pay up front and that I would be reimbursed because my insurance covered it. I never saw the money and nagged about it a lot, then a year later was told oh yeah we credited that to your account. Phone calls go in circles or get dropped and bills come from multiple different addresses/billing offices that also almost never answer the phone. when this practice was purchased, everything changed. inexperienced staff, recommendation of things I didn't need... I was told if I didn't have my teeth straightened, they would cause me problems later on. However, I had never had problems and have had nothing but problems since my teeth were straightened. they lost pictures. then lost paperwork. dental assistant for my Invisalign had to keep fixing and asking for help. Dr Watson was nice, but too new a dentist. (looked him up- and he's only been practicing a couple yrs) I get it. new practice needs to hire entry level people and get influx of money in the beginning. Most of the time when you call you're not even getting that office you're getting their main booking. Because of that reason I've been overbooked, I've been left off the schedule or booked at the wrong office. no longer a nice small practice, it's just a big Dental mill now read more

This place offered mediocre service. They seemed to be very scammy in that the dental hygienist was a "sales man," pushing products and asking for referrals. If I were more naive, I might have fallen for it. Which makes me worried for other people who may not know better, like young people and the elderly. I really do not like places that take advantage of people, hence I would not recommend this place. They seemed overworked and underbooked, as in they didn't have enough clients to pay their workers well, resulting in product pushing for commissions. The walls had tears and dental chairs didn't have sinks, yet they had a car raffle that you could enter. It just did not make sense. This is first time going there and the service was sufficient. Recently I was charged for a cleaning that my insurance company denied because Media scheduled more than two cleanings in a 12 month period. In another month and a half it would have been covered. You would think their EHR would catch that. In addition, as others have posted, the dental assistant tries to up-sell unnecessary services that aren't covered by insurance. read more

Lots of incompetent people working here. They never seem to know what's going on when I go in. A lot of the equipment does not seem to work. I paid for Invisalign and I didn't realize until a year later they hadn't been giving Invisalign to me but a generic brand they made themselves that was WAY less comfortable. I have been trying for WEEKS to get my records released. Calling. Emailing. Finally one of the receptionists said to go into the office and ask to speak with the woman who handles records to see if she can hurry up. These are electronic records. Wanted to add to my previous review. Had an appointment with another implant dentist today. She also did a 3-D X-ray but unlike Media Dental Ass. who charge $450 she charges NOTHING and offered to give me a copy to take to my general dentist even if I decided to not have her do my implants. She also advised me that tooth number 17 which Media Dental had told me was fine actually had an infection and really needed to be pulled and she put me on antibiotics. Since Media Dental did not include that in their $10,000 treatment plan I can only assume six months from now I would have needed another $4,000 worth of work from them. The more I think about my experience at this practice the more violated I feel. Lastly her prices are about half what they wanted to charge me. She did a fellowship in implants, her equipment is all new, unlike Media Dental there is sanitizer for the patients, the office is beautiful and clean, not a run down old house. read more

Be very, very careful reviewing your statement. They expect significant money up front even for insured patients, accidentally overcharge and when attempt to compare insurance Explanation of Benefits and their statements, it is very difficult to get anyone from the practice to go over the account. Although they do very good work, I am not sure I would recommend the practice simply for the fact that their billing practices are, to be honest, horrendous. read more

It is rare that I negatively review a business, but this one truly deserves it. I think they have so many 5 star reviews because they basically pay you to leave one via discounts. First, this company is a dental farm. It feels extremely impersonal and they see patient after patient and beg you to refer, refer, refer. Hardly the tip of the iceberg though. For one thing, they charged me for a fraudulent "orthodontic consultation" that never took place. I assume they were just going to send it to my insurance, but I caught it because I pay out of pocket. This was the extent of the consultation that I did not ask for: dental assistant: have you ever considered braces me: no because my teeth are straight. That cost $400. Next, dentist replaced a filling, was not paying attention because he was talking to someone in the hallway, knicked my chin drawing blood, and didn't acknowledge it whatsoever. I felt it happen, then after I left I saw the Knick in my face. Third, this dentist told me I have a serious cavity and need to have the tooth surgically removed because he couldn't fill it and he would refer me to their surgeon. Okay, at this point I didn't trust them at all, and what prompted me to finally write this review, is that I went to a new dentist and he told me there was no cavity, at best, it was an extremely small stain on my tooth. I think the professionals I worked with, Jennifer the hygienist and Dr. Bashier, the surgeon, are honest and good at their work. But, there is something not right with this practice. I had a similar experience to other patients: suddenly being told I owe a balance from years ago with no paperwork to confirm, checking my insurance claim online and seeing services billed and never provided. The "Dr. Jay" seems laser focused on money. This Botox service is totally bizarre. I really, really hope I didn't get needless teeth removed, but I'm scared that I did. This practice is nothing but a total insurance fraud practice. They are not willing to review bills for work that was performed. Removed teeth that didn't need to be I went to another dentist that confirmed I didn't need cavities filled as they said. The dentist who generates the bill would not speak to me. At first I was nervous to change dentists but the front desk girls assured me that it would be a quick and painless visit. I saw Rose for my cleaning and I fell as though she did a thorough job and made my smile sparkle. Next I saw Dr.Gohel for an exam and he was very details and clear with all the things I needed to get finished. My family has been coming here for years out of habit more than anything else. I find the staff unfriendly and pushy. They are constantly trying to get you to agree to more expensive services that are necessary. Recently, I saw an advertisement on Media Dental Associates website offering a reasonably priced cleaning for new patients so I took my boyfriend here. The would NOT honor their own offer! They said he would also need x-rays and an exam (which would have been an additional $200). He explained that he recently had an exam elsewhere and really only wanted a cleaning, which their website offered. Again, they would not honor their offer. This is false advertising of course because even in the fine print there was no stated requirement for these additional services. Furthermore, this was a "Get to Know You" offer, so it was only valid for those who have never been to Media Dental before, except they expect you to have already had these other steps completed, which doesn't makes sense for a "Get to Know You" offer...Needless to say, I will not be returning, Even their apologies were insincere. read more
