I was always embarrassed about my smile. My teeth looked horrible. I had horrible tooth sensitivity. I made an appointment. They took me the very next day. Which was awesome. Got X-rays got fillings that day and a few follow ups. They deep cleaned my teeth. It looked awesome. Sensitivity is gone. Still nervous because anyone with sensitivity knows how scared you are to have THAT pain. My problems is resolved. I'll go every 6 months from now. Financially they work with you and gave me big discounts. My fear of the dentist is gone. They have numbing stuff nowadays. I love this place. My confidence has improved a lot. What should I start? I had really bad experience at this dental office. I was treated with sensitive teeth here by Dr. Garry Schneider, he did filling procedure to the sensitive teeth, 2 on the lower left side, 1 on the lower right side. But the sensitivity of the teeth were getting worse, so I went back to him, he said there might have bubbles in side of the filling( why there're bubbles? bad operation and skill I guess). So he made another appointment for me. Because of this appointment, I lost my job, ironically, when I went to the office for my appointment, the casher said Dr Schneider wan't in the office, he's on his vacation in Dominican Republic or whatever. So, I lost my job, my health insurance, for that appointment, but that guy forgot it, and was on his vacation?!! After that, I didn't blame them, things have happened, I let it go. I just hoped that my teeth get right treatment, so I could eat food without any pain. So I made a new appointment with him, he did refilling, after that the right side was good, but the left side is still sensitive. A few days later, my implant crown next to the sensitive tooth on the lower right fell out. I don't know why it fell out, maybe when he filled the sensitive tooth, and grinding, made the crown loose. So I had to made appointment again to put the crown back, it fell out again a few days later after was put back. so I made appointment again, I asked him to get a new crown, he gave me a quote for a new one, its total about $ 770 with insurance, and $1100 without insurance. I told him my insurance would end on May, so I tried to get it done before it ended, he agreed. I paid $150 to place the order, few weeks later, he put new crown on, but I was still charged $770. I should pay $770-$150=$620, because I prepaid $150 already. So I asked them why, they blah, blah, blah. During the time he put the new crown on, I told him, the left side is still sensitive, then he said that there may have a crack inside, and asked me to see a specialist. And he complained that he's never had a person's teeth with this kind of problem that I have. Yeah, maybe you just don't know much. My problem with this doctor is not finished yet. So when he put this new crown on, it needed to shape the crown to get the good bite, and fit. But, when he grind the crown, he grind the neighboring teeth too, I think he didn't mean to do that, but it just showed his bad skill on job, and carelessness for patients . They hurt, after his treatment, my good teeth became bad, and my bad teeth became worse. After all of these unpleasant experiences happened, I told myself that I forgive him, because he's young and maybe really don't know much about what he does, I just don't go back to the office again. But, today, I got a bill from this dental office, and shows I own them $389.29. I didn't sue them for all trouble they caused for me, instead, they are asking for more money from me. I highly recommend you steer clear of this practice! I needed a tooth extracted, and they weren't willing to do it cause my blood pressure was high and wanted me to see a cardiologist first. They would not accept a phone call from the cardiologist. That was fine and I got the clearance they requested. I Then on June 22 scheduled myself an appointment for July 8 with the same dentist who did my initial evaluation. I got an email confirmation stating the name of the doctor I would be seeing that my appointment was scheduled. On July 7, I got a phone call telling me that I scheduled the appointment incorrectly with the wrong doctor and so they needed me to come in at 9 o'clock instead of 1 o'clock I told him I could not do this because I had another appointment scheduled at that time and they said I could reschedule my other appointment. I told them that that was unacceptable and that I did not schedule my appointment with the wrong doctor and that I had proof of who I scheduled the appointment with. They told me someone would call back and after two hours with no return call I called again. After reiterating that I could not accommodate the time they wanted and that I had scheduled the appointment appropriately they offered me an 11 o'clock appointment and I accepted. During my appointment, it was revealed by one of the staff members that the doctor had something come up and that's why they were rescheduling appointments not because I scheduled it incorrectly, but because of issue on their end. During my initial appointment in June, I was told that I could have nitrous oxide during my procedure but when I arrived, they told me the Doctor Who does that was not in that day, so I could not have nitrous oxide. The doctor was interrupted multiple times during my procedure to discuss questions about other patients. They then accidentally knocked the crown off the tooth next to the one they were extracting and chose to leave it exposed for four days. The doctor told me to look out for signs of dry socket as that would be an emergency and to call if I had any issues. Over the weekend, I called multiple times and left multiple messages to inform them that I did indeed have dry socket. They did not respond over the weekend, which I can understand because it is a weekend even though they did tell me that would've been an emergency, but they also did not call me on Monday morning when they opened. When I arrived for my appointment at 4 PM on Monday, the doctor had not even been notified that I called to let them know I had dry socket. At this point, I was literally shaking because the pain was so intense and I've been going on for days. The doctor was rude and dismissive, and the dental hygienist kept accidentally hitting my exposed dry socket with the suction tool. I was in far more pain than I had arrived in. The doctor agreed to call me in a script for an antibiotic because even though there was no signs of infection I have a cardiac condition and dry socket. She also agreed to call me in a script for pain medication. She asked me to confirm my Pharmacy with a dental hygienist and she would call it in right away. It took two hours and repeated phone calls back-and-forth to get the doctor to finally call in the script and then she tried to blame the Pharmacy and say that they weren't accepting it because it was Pain medication, even though the pharmacy was actively looking for it. I told the office that I would be calling back tomorrow to speak to the office manager, and then I would be reporting their practice so the doctor herself called me to tell me how she was only trying to help me and that it's not her fault the pharmacy wouldn't accept the script. I expressed my concerns to her and told her how angry I was at the poor treatment I was receiving, and then I would be reporting her to the state. She then called the pharmacy and told them not to fill my antibiotic since I wasn't showing signs of an infection, she wasn't willing to take the precaution for me. She changed my treatment plan out of spite because I was reporting her. read more

I am not exactly sure what her issue was as I have been a loyal patient and only needed to resolve a scheduling issue that was on their end! 5 times I called until finally I decided to cancel service with them. read more

I went to Smile Exchange for a regular cleaning that I was getting at another dental office but decided to go here because they were closer to me. After waiting for an hour the dentist came and told me that I needed to see a periodontist. I told her I had already was seen and treated by a periodontist and was on routine cleaning maintenance and all I wanted was a cleaning. She refused to give me the cleaning and said I had to go to see a periodontist. This seems to me like she wanted me to go and do another unnecessary procedure and all I wanted was my teeth to be cleaned. read more

The staff were all very nice, however, they rip you off big time. I paid 2,000 for a bottom denture. They said it won't be as snug as upper denture but they went ahead and made it. I NEVER wore it. It came out when I spoke, when I ate. It was useless. I went back to see if they could make it fit and they told me my only option was to get implants to hold it down and that would require a new denture too. I was livid. They tried to get me to start the implant work immediately and gave me an 8,000 bill. I said no I do not want to start anything. I ended up going to Aspen Dental and they are doing the same implants for under 5,000. Then yesterday my son went to them for an abscessed molar in the very back of his mouth. They told him he needed a bone graft so he could replace the tooth with an implant and charged him 600.00 for a procedure he didn't need. That infuriated me. My son didn't realize he could say no to them. He will never need to replace the molar furthest back in his mouth and in no way needed a bone graft. They will con you out of every penny they can get. read more

I am like most and don't like the dentist. Mostly because I hate seeing oral hygiene. You know how in movies it's supposed to be romantic when a couple is finally brushing their teeth together? Well I just want to throw up! That is not sexy. I feel like oral hygiene should be like Victorian children, neither seen nor heard. But we know they exist. All that said, I went to the dentist and had an incredible experience! I had a female dentist, which I've never had before. And she was younger so she was up-to-date with the newest processes and procedures, and more than that, she was a woman of color. It felt like a deeply spiritual experience. Beyond the dentist and the assistant being a warm and kind presence in the office, the work she did was fantastic. I had to get a crown put on my tooth, which I guess is a sign of aging? But in the past, all I've thought about are how you can see old peoples crowns and they obviously look like a fake tooth. This one does not! Also, the amount of numbing Novocain they used was so perfect that my whole mouth wasn't ruined for the day, and it wore off at just the right time. I am super impressed. I've had a cleaning and a cavity filling with Smile Exhange. There office is immaculately clean, professional, timely, and polite. Dr. Crow and every hygienist I've met there are courteous and helpful. One hygienist gave a demonstration using dental props of how to thoroughly brush and floss and they always take the time to explain post-procedure care. Had dentures for top and bottoms done. Saw Dr. Crow and she was awesome. At first i planned on just getting bottom dentures. She explained to me that it would not be good because they would not work with to teeth. Had very bad teeth and missing teeth as well. Took her advice and had all teeth removed. I am scared of dentist and that is why i am now getting dentures. Had very bad visits with them in the past. Dr. Crow made me feel great and not scared. She explained everything in detail and never hurt me once. She did several fittings and wanted me to love my dentures. I love them and am very happy with them and cannot thank her enough. When I left Smile Exchange me Dental condition was a lot worst than when I entered the door. I had two Partials made and they both injured my mouth. I continued to go back and complain that my house was aching. Finally a new Partial was made and that too injured my mouth. I absolutely love smile exchange. Every time I go there, as soon as I walk in , the receptionist is so friendly. Unlike in the past, I feel as if I don't wait too long to be seen. Fast. Can usually schedule day of. No wait at all once I got there. Thorough, friendly service. It's amazing how pleasant the staff is. They don't push unnecessary procedures. Billing is a complete S. show. I have now gotten two calls, months after the procedures, telling me I now owe thousands more than I was originally charged. I've already had the work done and now have no recourse. I would never have had the work done there had I known even half of these charges. At best their billing is incompetent, if not downright fraudulent. Be prepared to pay at least twice what they originally bill you. Also I work for the federal government plus carry an additional dental policy through the Philadelphia school district so if this is what I owe out of pocket after what my insurance supposedly pays, I can't imagine what they would charge someone with little to no coverage. read more

IMPORTANT NOTE - If you do not have dental insurance and are paying out of pocket then i highly recommend that you double check so you will not be surprised by any charges. $85.00 ($69.00) just to open your mouth for a 2-3 minute look is a very high price that no dentist has ever charged me to do before, and seems to indicate that this office is out to make as much money as they can. Therefore, clients (consumers) need to be very proactive and not assume anything... Initially made an appointment to have porcelain crowns repaired after one sustained a significant chip along with a consult. Dental assistant "Asia L." brought me back to a room to get X-rays. Had to explain more than once that i already had fairly recent x-rays and wanted to speak with the dentist first. I was ushered over to another area and met Dr. Aimee Degbozogi. Outlined the crown repair work needed and then briefly spoke with her about getting teeth pulled and replacing my current crowns/attachment with a bottom denture plate, which i knew no dentist in any dental business would like or recommend. When i stated that i had a couple of bombs in my mouth that could fail at any time, she then asked me to open my mouth so she could take a look at the 2 back teeth that are needed to sustain the crown/attachment currently in my mouth. This alleged exam lasted 2-3 minutes tops and no instruments were used. She visually inspected the 2 back teeth with large fillings and then used her gloved fingers to check exposed crowned teeth for wiggle and then my mouth closed. Dr. Aimee Degbozogi then asked her assistant for a specific product brand to repair my crowns, which they did not have. I asked if this product could be ordered and don't believe i was given an answer. I handed my crowns to Dr. Aimee Demagogic who needed to attend to another client. I sat waiting for approximately 40 minutes before she got to my crown repair, which took about another 30 minutes to do. It was getting close to 5 P.M. when Dr. Aimee Degbozogi returned my crowns to me but she had not done the repair that had me coming to the office to begin with and had to go back to her lab room to do this repair, which took no more than 10 minutes to complete. The cost for crown repairs was $200.00 and i had been informed that she did not know how long the repair work would last, which i understood. However, the $85.00 charge for the 2-3 minute visual exam was another story. It took some disputing to get this fee reduced to $69.00 but even this is still too much and i plan to seek to be reimbursed and or charged something more in line with a 2-3 minute visual exam! Bottom line, I should have been informed that it was going to cost me an exorbitant amount of money just to open my mouth so she could verify what i had already told her and or was already listed on the patient form that i filled out prior to my visit. Not to mention, the last 10 minute crown repair that had been my reason for going to this office washed out within 2 days and the chip is wider. The material washing out of this one chip seems to indicate that Dr. Aimee Demagogic was in a hurry to get this last (primary) repair done so she could leave the office at 5 p.m. Needless to say, my overall experience with this office was negative and I am not sure if i will give this dentist another opportunity to correct her faulty work or just seek out another dentist, and primarily because of the abuse that came when i disputed the $85.00 fee for the 2-3 minute exam. In my opinion, the dental assistant (Asia L.) needs to learn how to listen before she makes assumptions and or argues with a client. The list of reasons for this 2-3 minute exam fee were false - my crowns were handed to the dentist who did not have to take them out of my mouth or reinstall them etc. I was there for a crown repair and to talk about future work, and learned that this office would not be able to do any work involving crowns anyway because they do not subscribe to using temporary cement. Temporary cement is a prerequisite for me due to decay developing under one set of crowns that had been permanently cemented. These permanently cemented crowns could not be tapped off and had to be cut off in order to tend to the decaying tooth which is a dental expense i will not have again!! read more
