The internet and cable service imo was above average. I rarely had an outage, and the internet was plenty fast for my needs. The problem is the cost. They raised my bill to $298!! A bit much don't you think? I would have stayed with them if they lowered the price by $100. They would not so I canceled. My cable/internet went out the Monday before thanksgiving, the Monday before Christmas, and now it's out the Monday before New Year's. It has take. When calling customer service, the earliest appointment is always a week away. Therefore I've missed several sporting events that appeared on tv. To make matters worse, I work from home. Service guy came out and tried to scam me a 81year old woman out of $138 of more work that was not needed, already set up for it, and my son told him to leave. NO WORK was done, oil stain on my new concrete driveway from him parking on it and not in the street in his old truck. Have called over 5 times for refund but NO REFUND AS IF 10/10/23. Only promises that they are going to send it. They won't even send me a confirmation or email that they are doing the refund. Mediacom rep told me I could add cable to my internet service for $40 per month, forgot to mention additional required charges that would double that amount. I fell for their offer of cable for $40 / month, they don't bother to mention that there are other charges adding up to about that same amount and they will not drop those charges. Take the smallest charge of local sports channels for $6.59 for example; I asked them to remove it but they won't. Every other charge over the basic family cable charge of $40 turned out to be non-negotiable also, as a result the total charge was about double what I thought would be cable for $40 / month. How is it they can charge me for channels I don't want? I am very disappointed that they bought my business with a misleading low price, especially when I specifically asked if the $40 / month fee was the total cost including a tivo system. What go you call a misrepresentation like this, was it a lie or just over zealous marketing? Since I was promised a free tivo I'm going with a lie. If I had gotten that I might ignore the other $20+ extra charges per month. I wish I could grow my investment money as fast as their charges multiplied! read more

this company advertises 99.9% reliability that is not true at all half the time the Internet is down. I must have to call an Internet connection at least once or twice a month to have a problem repaired. I have had Mediacom for 3 years and have made multiple calls concerning my speed (I pay for 100mbps) and I was only getting about 42mbps ! I was told by the tech that I would not see what I am paying for and this was good. Called 2 weeks ago and a young man named Brantley (tech#5202) came out and I thought here we go again ! He crawled under the floor , I live in a 1938 farmhouse , 2 ft. by 2 ft. opening under the crawlspace , he came out and said he found splitters interfering with the signal ! He then went up on the power pole across the street and found the other problem (bad part). Did I mention it was raining ? In 1 and a half hours he fixed my signal , I now get what I am paying for. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Been a loyal customer for over 4 years now & mediacom continues to increase our bill every year claiming that we are on some promotional deal & that's the reason behind it climbing by $30-40 every year. I remember when we first got their services in 2016 we signed a contract stating we would be on a promotional deal for either 1 to 2 years; I believe it was one year but we had to sign a 2 year contract. Okay cool. So why is that 4 years later you're still claiming that we are on a promotion & that's why you are increasing our bill every single year. Furthermore, usually for LOYAL customers most other services would provide discounts or deals for those customers not increases of their bill! Should have known from the start that we would have problems though. I remember the people that came to install our services came on Halloween day 2016 without any kind of warning. No one called to let us know when someone would be by, let alone the day they would be by. Thankfully we were home. We also had an outage one month that lasted for over half the month & when we called to see if they would lower that months bill since we didn't have the service for over half the month they took $10 off the bill that was already near $200. This is by far the worst internet company in business. They have so many outages its not funny. Of thier is a problem they tell you it's your equipment and you need to buy better modems, routers, cable, etc. Downdetector.com constantly has them in the red over half the country, everyday. They fail to comment on the issues and send technicians out to the home to tell you; everything is fine, it's normal to have high latency, normal for slow speeds and not getting what you pay for we are working on it, It's a new technology, we are working on it. Here's my number call me at home and I will come see what the problem is. But it's never fixed always apologies. Stay the hell away from this company. I filed 7 FCC complaints and 4 BBB complaints with mediacom. With no resolution. They are the lowest rated internet company in the Huntsville area. read more

Mediacom is without a doubt the worst internet provider in this area. There internet speeds are always slow and never up to or even close to par for what we pay for. There are constant outages with the internet that occur at least once a week if not more. Also, they are not short outages. It will go out around 7 pm and will not come back on until the next morning. Mediacom internet is more trouble then it's worth. Unfortunately it's the only provider I can get where I live. read more

I only chose one star because it's the lowest I could choose. I've had numerous "techs" out over the past year or more but I keep getting the same problems. I've had at least three out over the past month. I still have the same problems. When I switch my service in the next few days, I've made a video to document my problem. I clicked a link to open a page of memes and it took a minute and 27 seconds for the first of the memes to start loading. And I've been paying for this crap. If there's any ISP available in your area other than Mediacom, go ahead and choose them now instead of having to switch later. read more

I loved mediacom, no complaints on products or service, however, my bill increased from less than 100 to 180, practically doubled. I called 3 times and because I was a loyal customer instead of a new customer, my bill would increase yearly til I hit maximum price, but neither time I called no one could tell me what maximum price was. So close to four years I changed to direct tv and called to tell mediacom. At this time, I was told they could lower my bill to less than 115. Too little too late. It's a shame I had to pay for another service before they wanted to work with a loyal customer. Mediacom should pull those calls and fire the employees that didn't want to work with me !! read more

Worst cable company that ever existed. Service technicians and dispatch that lie about calling and saying I did not answer. I have detail billing on cell phone, my only phone, that show all calls received and sent as well as my call history on my phone. Media crap did not want to see my detail billing when I called and complained about wasting time off work three times on separate occasions. When a tech actually showed up, it was always a problem on the pole and a ticket would have to be put in for maintenance. This went on for three months. One tech even called to see if I would postpone appointment so he could go watch son play football and promise d the would be out Sunday. This is not the worst part yet. I was wondering what services I'm paying for. Called media crap customer service on 27 Feb 2015 to find out what I am paying for. Got a really nice rep she went over everything. Got to internet service and I am paying 60 per mth. I know I remember paying extra for more bandwidth. I was checking my bandwith using speadtest.net like techs have done at my house and tech support has told me to do while on the phone with them. I am getting around 20 mb down and 2 up. I told the rep what I was getting and she looked at how my service was coded. She said it was coded for 20 mb service and I am paying for 50 mb service. I asked why am I being throttled after paying this money 30 extra dollars per mth. She also said the 50 mb down service was started a year ago. She had no clue why my service was not correct and told to hold while they connect me to tech support. I had to go through all the crap again with support. He said 20mb was correct for my area. I asked then why am I be charged extra when I can't get 50mb that I have been paying for all this time. He did not understand. I had to go thru this crap again. Finally, I told him to go listen to the customer service reps recorded conversation with me. He had to call me back. He called back. He said he would have to escalate the issue to his supervisor and put me on hold even though me asking him to call me back. He took me off hold and said someone would be calling me back. Well it 7 mar 2015 and no one has called me. I believe they know they owe me 30 dollars times 36 mths for lying about my service and do not want to reimburse me. It is sad and funny that I see media crap commercials showing gigabit fiber residential internet. They can't get my service correct yet are advertising this on TV. Mediacom is absolutely terrible. Do not get this service. You'd be better off making a tin foil antennae and attaching it to the top of your tv. We had several issues with the internet itself, and then with them wanting to charge us extra for issues that were their fault. Then it took me 3 full months to completely and fully cancel the service. We had no contract, but they charged us not once but TWICE to end said contract early, ending in $454.69 worth of early termination fees. I had to speak with several different people to get the issue resolved. I received the last bill, which was a reasonable amount (finally), then they sent the bill into collections three days later. WHAT?! Really!? You send my bill to collections 3 days after you send the last (and actually correct) statement because you can't get it together on your end??? How does that make sense. -__- It's just not worth the hassle. I'd give it zero stars if that was an option. read more
