I just ate at Mediterranean Grill in Haiku for the first time. It says they won best food truck on Maui and I can see why. It was nothing short of amazing! Perfect presentation, flawlessly cooked tender and flavorful lamb on a bed of delicious rice, homemade hummus, and a zesty Mediterranean salad. It was wonderful. Healthy sized portions and the price was just right at 13.99. To put the icing on the cake the staff were friendly and seemed generally happy to be there. They were even singing to Tom Petty while they worked which put a smile on my face. Good taste in music isn't really relevant here but it is definitely worth a few bonus points. Had the chicken salad--vegetables were fresh, but the chicken pieces were so dry and flavorless; also, their lemonade sign outside of their establishment is a scam--boasts of "freshly squeezed" lemonade, but one taste reveals it's lemonade from concentrate. I like this place. I usually order from them at least once a month. sometimes several times a month. I usually always order the Gyro plate because it comes with a greek salad plus the rice. I really enjoy the rice. The portion size and the pricing have been pretty consistent given the quality of the food. I have tried almost everything off the menu and the food is always consistent. as well as the portion size. Now for the down side. The prices are a little high maybe make the sandwiches a little more affordable. I would definetly eat there more often. Also if your not going to honor the dollar off if you pay cash sign stuck to the front of the register should take it off. Cause I get charged the same amount whether I pay cash or credit. Over all good food. Always consistently good quality. If can fix a fgew things would happily give 5 star. But just my opinion. Enoy !!! read more

If you live nearby you can get your order to go ,but I don't recomend it for long distance take out, There is no way you can drive more than a few miles without tearing into your boxes of deliciousness. There are a few tables for eating on site. Chicken and lamb plates have generous portions of meat drizzled with an addictive white garlic sauce, a side salad and silky hummus with pita bread. We finally tried this food truck in the old Haiku cannery and it didn't disappoint. The babaganoush was on point, perfect texture and excellent depth of flavor, not something scooped out of a tub. The Gyro sandwich was tasty, packed with flavor, well balanced flavors, with a good balance of veg and meat. His spicy bistro sauce was also excellent. Easy to see why this food truck is highly recommended! Owner was super friendly and service was very speedy, yet the food screamed of freshness. Very impressed. Honestly food truck or not Mediterranean food does not get any better than this. We had just finished our downhill bike ride across the way at Haleakala Ecotours when we were looking for an early lunch. After some quick research of food trucks we discovered that the No. 1 rated food truck just happened to be sitting in the same parking lot! I ordered the falafel sandwich and my husband ordered the chicken shawarma. The food and service were excellent. Everything was hot and fresh. The falafel was PERFECT - crispy on the outside as well as flavorful and perfectly moist on the inside. Often falafel can be dry, but wow this place defies the norm. The romaine lettuce was also crisp and fresh and the tahini sauce was also prime. In addition the chicken shawarma was just as good. Plus the serving sizes were generous! Also the cops eat here, which is usually the sign of a local seal of approval. We could not have asked for better! read more

For someone who comes from the Middle East I can tell what food is worth it and this was amazing! The homemade falafel, chicken and kebab were out of this world. We were back from a long all day hike in Hana and looking for a cool and friendly environment. The owner had a fruitful conversation with us and suggested some very cool places for us to check out in Maui! I will definitely recommend this spot for folks in that area.
