    Lamb Shawarma Lunch Special
    Cynthia X.

This little place is such a gem! It may be unassuming from the outside, but once you step through the door, the husband and wife duo welcome you in with open arms. This was our first time here and we will definitely be coming back. We were asked if it was our first time and we said yes, and we're greeted with information about the menu, the types of food they offer and their specialties. You can definitely tell that everything that is made in that kitchen is made with love and care. The gentleman was even able to tell us how many spices are in his rice and seasonings that it takes to make the baba ghanoush we had the lunch special. I had the beef Shawarma and my husband had the lamb Shawarma lunch special. They were both delicious. It was a lot of food for only $18. I would highly recommend the garlic and tzatziki sauce. The house made pita bread was delicious! Support local enjoy some great Mediterranean food and great hospitality. Oh and they gave us free pistachio baklavas because it was our first time

My family and I really wanted to like this place, but the food and its price is unfortunately not worth another try. We ordered the lamb schwarma, the chicken kabob plate, and a side of tabouli. The lamb schwarma were pieces of what looked like lamb gryo, but that was cooked partly on a pan, with some hummus, lettuce, cucumbers, and A LOT of pickles. The lamb was not very flavorful, and the main flavor that I got was pickles based on the sheer amount of it in my sandwich. The chicken kabob plate came on a bed of rice, hummus, and pita bread. The rice was clumpy and it tasted like it was cooked with old oil, and the hummus was also not seasoned well and tasted more like a tahini sauce than hummus. The chicken was OK. The tabouli...was not good. I would not recommend this dish. I will leave it at that. It was not fresh. That being said, I do agree with the other reviewers that the portion sizes are generous, and could feel you for multiple meals. But because of the quality of the food, I don't know if those meals would be necessarily tasty... I had high hopes for a mediterranean restaurant in the area, and wish I could I had a better experience, but I unfortunately would recommend taking the time to drive to the city and going elsewhere.

I'm gonna get a little emotional here. The entire point of food, apart from sustenance, is gathering, memories, moments spent with someone, sharing something. I realize it's out of the ordinary, but this place brought back so many memories of my grandpa and my first Dunkin' Donuts as a kid. Sitting on the front porch of our house on 65th between Powell and Foster in the morning sun, my grandpa is peeling me an orange, and I remember watching him thinking he had very strong fingernails because back in the day oranges were hefty and he went through that like Superman's cutting the mist. As we were sharing the orange, he had a cloth bag and out of it he pulled a dozen donuts. My family never experienced anything like that previously! I only have one memory of meeting the man, he is oranges, sunrises and my frosting filled doughnut. The entire time my hubs and I were eating our absolutely delicious, fresh and flavorful Mediterranean food. My eyes were stuck on the worn out Dunkin donut certificate near the register. As we were getting ready to leave our table and walk up to pay, I told my husband about the frosting filled donut from my grandpa and that I could see them on the shelf. Each step closer to the shelf my heart sank as I realized they were jelly and custard filled. My eyes were frantically scanning, and my brain was trying to justify getting something similar to reenact my moment with grandpa, the memory, but I to caught a glimpse of an unmarked tray at the very end, there were two donuts, 2 chocolate frosting filled donuts. The treasured classic, nearly cleared out but just enough for us. All the other food is good. Not gonna lie I'm terrified of food that is not common to my upbringing, which is very anti-yelp, but I had the lamb and it was amazing! And there was no gaminess, the mint was an excellent complement, and the spices were so Comforting. I have to throw something else really weird in here, yellow rice, so floral and perfectly spiced would be absolute heaven with a little bit of milk and sprinkle sugar for breakfast. Also, I had the strawberry lemonade, and it clearly was some kind of powder mix, but even that added to the layer of nostalgia to my dinner. Nothing was disappointing in any way. Take home your leftovers! Ok

    The lunch special

The Food Here is so very delicious. We love the sauces and bread that are all scratch made. The Kanafe is truly classic. It is a family heirloom recipe. So very delicious.

My son and I have been here dozens of times over the past year, especially more recently since we intentionally weaned off Starbucks, and honestly, no regrets. Service is always friendly, which adds to the charm. My go-to is their sugar-coated classic donut: simple, nostalgic, and hard to beat. That said, they tend to sell out of the classics quickly, so if you're a fan like me, go early or prepare for disappointment. I'm not personally into the mochi-style donuts; I prefer mine airy, fluffy, and melt-in-your-mouth soft. But to be fair, my son and friend love them, especially the raspberry and lemon mochi flavors. My son also enjoys their Vietnamese coffee, especially with white chocolate as a replacement for condensed milk, his new favorite alternative to his usual Starbucks order. As for me, their standard coffee beans are a bit zesty and citrusy, which doesn't quite suit my taste, but others might appreciate that brighter profile. Still, Coco Donuts is a solid neighborhood gem: local, dependable, and sweet in all the right ways.

Then I roll up to Krispy Kreme, this big, shiny, fancy-looking donut palace... and suddenly I'm starring in Cast Away 2: The Drive-Thru Edition. I'm sitting there like a forgotten glazed twist on the conveyor belt just spinning, waiting, slowly losing hope. I make my order. Boom. Automated voice. Great start. But then? Silence. No "Good morning." No "We got you." Not even a "Hold up, donut boy." Nothing. I'm out here wondering if I accidentally pulled into an abandoned Krispy Kreme museum exhibit. I've been sitting for five minutes, engine humming, soul fading, and I swear not even a sprinkle has moved inside that shop. It says they open at 5 a.m., but I guess I'm the final contestant in the "Does Kenny Even Exist?" challenge. I'm starting to think the donuts are fresh, but the staff is still asleep in the back like powdered sugar-covered hibernating bears. And look I haven't even tasted their coffee yet, but at this point, the only thing brewing is my disappointment. I came here for donuts and caffeine, not a lesson in invisibility. So yeah... I'm docking a star. Not because the donuts aren't beautiful (they're works of art). Not because the coffee might not be good (I'll find out eventually). But because I sat there so long I started contemplating my life choices and whether I was trapped in a Krispy Kreme escape room. Next time, I just need someone anyone to acknowledge me before I fossilize in the drive-thru. Until then, great donuts... questionable service.

I rushed a review, checked in, moved on. That was a mistake. This place isn't just a bakery it's a quiet little weapon in your romance arsenal. You walk in and you're hit with that warm, sweet scent of fresh bread and cream, the kind that makes you slow down whether you planned to or not. Now here's the move: don't overthink it. You don't need to walk out with a whole cake (though you absolutely can). Grab a single slice chocolate, fruit, cream-filled, whatever catches your eye and bring it home like it actually means something. Because it does. Small gestures hit harder than grand speeches. And if you really want to step it up? Have them make a custom cake. Yeah, it's not cheap. This isn't bargain-bin dessert territory. But you're not paying for cheap you're paying for precision, presentation, and that moment when someone's face lights up before they even take a bite. Fun foodie fact: Tous les Jours actually means "every day" in French, and the whole concept behind the brand is baking fresh, daily no shortcuts, no stale shelf life. It's a South Korean-born bakery that blends French technique with Asian-style lightness, which is why their cakes aren't overly heavy or sugary they're balanced, clean, and honestly easier to keep eating than you probably should. That's what puts this place on my list. Not just because the cakes are good but because it delivers something people forget matters: intention. You're not just buying dessert here. You're buying a moment. And if you play it right, that slice might be worth more than the whole cake.

Either way, they should only break out the cleaner when there are no customers left in the shop or after they close. I just quickly ran through to see what they had since it was my first time. The pastries all look beautiful and they had milk bread, mascarpone bread, different flavored croissants, macaroons, but the best part of all were the beautiful cakes. If these are Asian inspired cakes, then they're not going to be as sweet as American cakes. And I like that! I bought a couple of cookies. I think a lot of these items you could get cheaper at H Mart, 99 ranch, or Uwajimaya. Looking forward to coming back in the middle of the day when they're not closing, to take my time and pick out some sweet and savory items without the cleaner smell taking over.
