This beloved local institution…read morehas earned their reputation through their delicious donuts, but also a commitment to community over competition. They offer both donuts and chai. For me, the star of the show is the donuts. These delectable morsels are crafted in front of you so they come out fresh and hot. There are a variety of flavors and I've heard whispers of a secret menu... Check their Instagram for more info there. While I do gravitate towards the donuts first, I know they are also famous for their chai. So if you are a chai fan don't skip that option here. I just had a chance to interact with their mobile food truck at an event, which was such a fun aspect to the overall event. I got a quad of donuts and a chocolatey chai! Also I will say this: Pip's offers a free birthday dozen, which is incredibly generous gift. My birthday falls around the holidays so I usually can't make it in, but I want to be clear that I have absolutely zero complaints about that. Adults, especially, should never grumble about not receiving a generous freebie. The fact that they offer it at all speaks volumes about the kind of business they are!

A friend of mine recommended Pip's for their bite sized donuts and chai. We came at a right time by waking up early enough to beat the crowd. Service was pretty solid here and the menu is easy to read. Upon seating, they made a whoopsie by giving me a heated chai, but I can overlook that since they gave us an extra donut :) We got brownie butter, cinnamon sugar, and raw honey + salt to share. I got the King and I (made dirty) for my own because I love pandan. They put a lot of care into their product and it definitely shows. Chai was spectacular and donuts were delicious. I'm returning!

I enjoy their chocolate old fashioned and cake donuts way more than their yeast. But if they have some adorably cute and themed yeast donut? Well I'm a sucker and I'm buying Cuteness will always win for me. Though I'm also a classy lady and just feel like the Cock N Balls donut every so often, as well. Their chocolate frosting though is legit! The shop is so fun, something to look at in every direction. They have a ton of merch for sale but also I love their rotating display of donuts. Makes for a fun way to check out their options! I did buy a pink mug with a hole in the middle that is super cool & cute that says, "The Magic is in the Hole" hehe Love their cheeky mantra! Staff is always friendly! There is always a line, hopefully not out the door, but it always moves quickly and staff is ready to help. Long live Voodoo!

I was one of the few customers when i visited. It was a quick visit. I ordered a maple bacon, a Memphis Mafia and an Old Fashion Bastard. They are big but they are also more expensive than other donut shops. They are very rich and sweet. I could only eat a tiny bite of Memphis Mafia (peanut and chocolate chip on top of apple fritter) and that was enough for me. I liked the combination of chocolate peanut butter but not so good on top of an apple fritter. The customer service was friendly. Overall, i think their donuts aren't worth the hype.

This location is easy to miss if you aren't looking for the signs, but inside space was bright with sun pouring in through the windows. The blue skies visible from inside were so welcoming. Coming from the East Coast, my niece had never tasted Blue Star. She decided on the OG. I choose between the Blueberry Bourbon and the Raspberry Rosemary Old-fashioned. A difficult choice. The Blueberry Bourbon was tart and sweet in a fragrant and delicious way. It was gone in two minutes. Lee was amazing. Incredibly helpful as we debated which donuts we should take. Crispy, airy, buttery and oh, so delicate, my raspberry cruffin was the dessert dreams are made of! If you've never had a cruffin... what are you waiting for?! It's croissant dough baked into a muffin shape. And the particular version I ordered today was filled with sweet and creamy vanilla custard and raspberry jelly. My mouth is watering describing this now, a true sign I'll be returning to experience this delicacy time and time again. There are three locations of Twisted Croissant in Portland, and this is the only one I've visited. The interior has a classic Parisian bakery vibe, clad in white subway tile from floor to ceiling. The bakery case in front of the store is beautifully stocked with fresh pastries, perfect for enjoying with a cup of coffee or tea. However, be advised, there are only two tables in the back of their public space, so it's not particularly inviting space to sit and enjoy your breakfast. Given the location, I assume there is outdoor seating in the summer months, but don't quote me on that. Regardless, run here if you haven't been. These baked goods are worth the visit!
