Oh Mama Mary - you have lured me back. I was on a huge Mama Mary Hummus (yes, it is primarily sold out of this Mobil Gas Station at Columbia/Sprague) binge in 2018/2019. After extensive therapy, I was able to ween myself off of it. My wallet was happy, as I was probably buying 4 containers a week for the better part of a year or two. In 2022, I was buying the Mama Mary hummus from the Lakewood Speedy Shak (Marathon Gas Station possibly???) at 140th/Bunts and Lakewood Hts. Blvd. - right off I-90. There selection is far less extensive than the "Home Base" in Columbia Station, but when you live a half hour away from the "Home Base" but only 5 minutes from Lakewood's, you do what you have to. It got so bad in Lakewood that the cashier knew me by name. Back into therapy and I slowly worked my way off of it. Cut to June 2023. I was in the area of the "Home Base" so I decided to visit an old friend, Mama Mary Hummus. First off, I noticed they significantly improved and opened the kitchen area. Looks nice. Secondly, I noticed that Habanaro, Zataar and Palestine (serrano and parsley) flavors are now in the mix. Being a huge fan of super hot stuff, I looked around and grabbed a couple Habanaro hummus along with the Baba and a roasted red pepper hummus for the wife. OK, usually no one makes anything that is hot using the habanaro pepper (at least to my tastes). Well this flavor hummus blew me away - it's a perfect heat to me (probably too hot for those that don't like heat) and immediately I was taken back into time with that Mama Mary consistency and flavor. Two days later, I drove back and snagged 3 more habanero and a Palestine. They were still out of Zataar. Three days later, I drove back snagging 3 more habanero along with the two Zataar hummus containers that were looking sad all by themselves in the cooler. All good, but habanero to me is still head and shoulders above the rest. Mama Mary - you have done it again. I am back in the fold big time!!! BTW - I am also a fan of their Italian Sub (Ham and Beef Salami). Mama Mary's son, who I think is the owner of the gas station, made it best. Unfortunately have not seen him on my latest binging. The gentleman there does a good job, but it is nothing like original owner's efforts. read more

Finally got around to giving this place a try, so glad we did! Great food from a gas station? Uh...yeah! The little kiosk inside the convenience store serves up a mound of tasty items (which you already knew). We decided to try their famous gyro wrap and also some of the hummus. The gyro sandwich was hugely overstuffed and topped with a great tzatziki sauce and a side of (Greek spiced) french fries. The garlic hummus we sampled was very bitey and tangy, served with pita slices. I think I'd try the regular hummus next time or maybe roasted red pepper. You can make their sandwiches into a "meal" deal" with includes a side and a can of pop from the cooler, all for a very reasonable price. They are still serving up good creamy hummus here and staff is still pleasant. This time around I tried the sun dried tomato and feta hummus $5.99 and of course two orders of the seasoned and grilled pita bread $2. From all of the popularity Mama Mary's hummus is now higher in price with a label on it, but that's the only difference. Still worth it. read more

I got the Super Gyro. Super! 12oz total weight. The regular weighed 14oz last time I was there. (Granted that was 5 years ago) Meat looked dry. Wasn't as dry as it looked though when I ate it. Good pita bread for sandwich. I don't like their dill based sauce. I got the garlic hummus. LOUSY!. Thin and little garlic flavor. Frankly, I would have guessed traditional hummus if I didn't know the flavor. I really liked their hummus in the past. I've had it a few times. The price & distant has always been a turn off. When I was handed the gyro box I looked in side because it was so light in weight. I asked the young man if it was a Super. He said yes. 12oz sandwich!?! You get a 20oz+ burrito from Chipotle for under $11. I didn't see a price for the hummus. My receipt didn't list any prices , just the total. $12.99 for the gyro. $3 for my Pepsi & 8 or $10 for the hummus. Yeah, I won't be back. Too much for too little & poor quality. read more

I've made the trek several times now for the hummus. It's worth it every time. Best hummus in town. Hands down. This is clearly a family run place. Every time I've encountered a couple young gentelmen working or their older counterparts. Likely parents, Aunt, Unlcle, etc. I stopped in a couple days ago and ordered a hummus tray. I could get any flavors I wanted. I ordered regular, garlic, and roasted red pepper. When I picked it up I also had to pay for the pita bread. I bought 2 bags to make sure we wouldn't run out. They gave me the oil and seasonings on the side and told me how to prepare the bread before serving. They didn't want to do it at the moment since the bread turns hard after it sits a while. I followed their instructions and the pita is as good or better as the hummus. After heating you drizzle olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, and za'atar. It's delicious. The pita is tender and so good with the seasonings. The hummus comes with a layer of oil on top. I just stir it in. It doesn't bother me at all. Especially how good this stuff tastes. The regular comes with garbonzo beans on top. It's rich and creamy. Seasoning is perfect. Garlic has roasted garlic on top. It's garlic hummus on steroids. It's very strong. I like strong garlic flavor and this fits the bill. It almost has a garlic burn to it. I love that. The roasted red pepper has an almost smoked taste to it. Each is unique. Delicious. I have had their jalapeno and spicy before and they are very spicy. Great if you like spicy. I can't stop getting this stuff and won't stop. A couple times I've been in someone has been buying a sandwich and each time they rave how good the sandwiches are. These guys are legit. read more

This place deserves ten stars. I drove from Westlake to this little gas station to try the hummus that everyone raves about. I got the garlic hummus and the beef bacon hummus with warmed seasoned pita. The hummus was incredible. I mean truly mind blowing: perfectly seasoned, slightly spicy, topped with premium olive oil, and the texture was just right - creamy and delicious. I could probably eat this hummus by the spoonful without pita to be honest. The owner's wife makes these amazing hummus creations in several unique flavors: pomegranate, pickle, and cranberry were all on the menu. Not only was this hummus the best I've ever had in my life, but the customer service was phenomenal. The gentlemen working at the counter and register were friendly and ready to answer any questions I had. I truly loved the experience of going to this little Sunoco and will DEFINITELY be returning when I crave some hummus! read more

I've heard so much about the gyros at this gas station that I decided to give them a try. They were okay, but in my opinion not worth all of the hype. Maybe 4 stars for a gas station gyro, but 2 when compared to other local establishments. They did have other middle eastern food that looked good. BEST. HUMMUS. EVER. So I've read a lot about this place and how they have the best hummus in the Cleveland area. This is literally the best hummus I've ever eaten in my entire life. My mom works down the street from this place and she went and wants to try it and she talked to one of the guys that runs it. He said that his mom makes it because she loves to. There's a whole bigger story but anyways the point is this family owns and operates this gas station which has plenty of gas station staples like drinks and snacks and obviously gas but they have a food counter where they make delicious food. I had the dill pickle hummus which was freaking amazing. I love dill and I love pickles. They grill and season pita for you as you order. All of the guys behind the counter were super friendly and pretty funny too. I will definitely be back because they have a Gyro and I think it's probably going to be amazing. One thing they didn't have when I was there was hummus that has Kalamata olives with feta cheese and I will definitely be back to have that too! read more

Got food poisoning from a gyro from this place today...its been 8 hours and I still feel awful. I stopped in because I was working in the area and yelp led me here. Sucks because I'm sure it rarely happens but it did. Also my coworker got a poboy that he threw out after a few bites. This is a guy that's never met a poboy he doesnt like. Would give 0 stars but the fries were good and when I told a different work buddy what happened he vouged for this place saying it sells some of the best hummus in NE Ohio. A regular looking gas station on the outside. An amazing hummus purveyor on the inside. This is not your average gas station! Homemade hummus is the star of the show. The freshness and texture can't be beat. Plus, they offer really interesting flavors that will change your opinions of this mediteranean treat. Pomegranate, dill pickle, jalepeno and roasted red pepper are my favorites. Baby ganoush is also available sometimes. Make sure you get the hot pita that is dusted with za'tar seasoning. The day we went there were about 9 flavors. They also heated, seasoned, and cut up some pitas for us so that we eat it right away. We bought 5 flavors, but only 2 made it home! I didn't know how much the water was so I asked , and he said it was a 1.99 and I was purchasing gas too for 7 bucks on a pump. I gave him 7 dollars and a 5. and then he said to just use the other single I had .. so that would only be 8 dollars I handed him and that wouldn't be enough to cover the water and gas. he then insulted me and said my math skills just aren't good.
