From the front desk staff, to the nurses, technicians and doctors, everyone was wonderful. Clean and cozy office and easy to get to. I had an accident and thought I broke a rib. At MedSpring, they examined me and took x-rays and I left already feeling better. Despite it being fairly busy and a holiday, and as one of the few places open, the staff were perfect and took their time to ensure the right diagnosis and get me better. I'd probably go for small things like vaccines or something quick. My experience: After being there for 2.5 hours we were told we had to go to a hospital. Went to the hospital on the other side and was told nothing was wrong. All that fuss a total of 6 hours, 2 X-Rays, and 2 cultures for whatever and nothing but allergy medication. Overall, I'm thankful they did as much as they did. "It's better to be safe than sorry" I just wish they didn't frighten us and it wasn't so time consuming. This place is was wonderful! As soon as we walked in the woman helping everyone noticed us and said she would be right with us. She was very nice. The nurse who saw my son before the doctor was also extremely friendly. Both of the staff members we came in contact with let us know how long the wait would be and got us to a room right away. My 8 year old son had a laceration on his foot, and we were hoping we did not need stitches. Thankfully, he didn't need them, but even if he had the doctor was so good with him, I think it would have gone smoothly. There is an urgent care clinic closer to our house, but I think I will be making the longer trip to this clinic just because of the service. read more

Let's start this off with I have a 1 year old-if you're ever been around one you know they have the attention span of a gnat. My pediatrician didn't have an appt for a flu shot for her til a 1.5 months out. Being that she's in daycare, that wasn't a timeframe I was willing to wait. So of course I called the insurance company to make sure Medspring was contracted before I made the trip. We were the only ones there so paperwork wasn't quite finished before they called us back. The proceeded with the flu shots, afterwards she told me my total was $57. So of course I ask about insurance only to be told that they do not bill the insurance. The 1 year old is getting crazy and antsy...it's naptime by now, so we scurry off. If any of you have ever had to submit a claim to an insurance company for reimbursement, you probably understand the pains of having to do this. But on top of that since this company is indeed contracted with my insurance company, contractually my insurance company has to pay them! So not only do I have to go through the reimbursement process with my insurance company but I have to do the same thing with them. I do understand that it was only $57 but I'm writing this review strictly for the purposes of healthcare transparency folks. This is not one of those places that practices this. So this morning I spoke with a lady whom I asked where on their website did it say anything about paying out of pocket/self pay or whatever terminology they want to use..I was of course looking at their site as I asked this...she pulled it up as well only to find it didn't. She then proceeded to tell me it's their policy regardless of what the site says. After a heated conversation she miraculously found the check and refunded my money. I came here to try to keep my family well through the flu season, instead I got very poor customer service and a headache. read more

I will never go here again. I had accidentally cut my finger and came here to see if I needed stitches. They took me the back room, said it looked too deep and sent me to the ER. The staff at the ER was baffled as to why they sent me on for such a minor injury. Of course they stitched me up and I then was stuck with a $1000 emergency room bill. Then over a month and a half later I get a bill from Med Spring. They had charged my insurance for this "so-called" visit and had already received over $100 from insurance and were trying to fleece me for another $40. Not to mention I got a collection call from them less than 3 days after receiving the bill. So be warned! read more

First, this place is clean and nice. They have amenities. The staff are friendly. The wait times vary. I have gone to MedSprings twice now. I have really bad sinus problems and I'm allergic to, what it seems like, everything. I also have asthma. The first time I went in was in January...Cedar pollen...bad allergies turned into sinus infection and bronchitis. This is the typical pattern for me. The provider was very nice and professional. She asked me relevant questions and evaluated me. Subsequently, she prescribed me appropriate medication that took my symptoms away and I recovered enough to go on my trip to South America a few days later. Had I rated this place then...it would have been 5 stars. However, I went in on Sunday with the same symptoms...Oak pollen... except this time my lungs weren't compromised yet. I just periodic wheezing, which is not normal for me. I knew it would just be a matter of time before I developed bronchitis, because I have been living in this body for over 35 years and know the course of this disorder. The male provider came in and leaned against the exam table. He seemed to combative and suspicious. He only listened to my breathing, but did no other form of evaluation. He did not ask me anything about my asthma and refused to prescribe me a steroid. Instead, he wanted to talk to me about the preventative strategies that I have tried, which have been many. He prescribed me nasonex and an antibiotic, which I know to be insufficient. So, after a $50 copay...I am not better and I now have an unproductive excessive cough...which will be diagnosed as bronchitis...as I now have to go back in for a steroid. More time and more money to go to a legitimate gp office, and not this place again. This provider is an older white male physician. If you are supposed to see him, I suggest that you ask for another provider as I believe him to be negligent. read more

I was initially a little wary about coming to this location based on the other yelp reviews, but I'm very happy that I over looked them and decide to come. The gentleman at the front desk, Jeremy I believe, is a very professional and helpful. He answered all of my questions and explained everything very thoroughly. The facility is very clean and easy to find. They offer coffee, other refreshments, and snacks while people are waiting which really makes you feel like you're not an urgent care facility. The doctor was very quick and precise with his questions. Yes the wait was a little long but it is Thanksgiving and I'm just appreciative that there was a location open today. read more

It was my first time going to med spring, I saw it because it was in great location and no one was there. So when I first walked in I asked how much it would be, they then proceeded to tell me. Took me back to the room and I was seen by medical assistant and the doctor, I then explained to them what happened. Glass cut my leg open and they said I didn't need stitches and then charge me $199.00 for a tetanus shot. They put some Steri-Strips on me and then I went home. I was still in pain so I got a second opinion I ended up getting 10 stitches and almost got an infection. Clean place but I wouldn't trust them on their opinions. read more

The first time I went to Med Spring it had just opened and I waited 30 minutes in the exam room for a doctor. I decided to give Med Spring a second try. On 7/19/14 I went in because my toenails were a blue color and I was afraid of a circulation problem. There was only one patient in front of me and I got seen very quickly this time. The Doctor came in, looked at my feet and said "I don't know what is causing that. Nothing else except he did say you might want to get tested for Diabetes. I said "OK Lets do it." He replied. " We don't draw blood for tests on the weekend. We only have one Doctor who does in on the weekdays and right now she is in India. So here's my problem. The clinic was basically empty of patients and here we have a licensed physician who apparently didn't want to belittle himself by taking my blood so it could be sent off to a lab. Instead he tells me to check back on the weekdays and call to see if the doctor is back from India. So the next day which was a Sunday I called Promed on South Lamar who said yes they could take my blood to be tested. So I went there. I will never step foot into your clinic again. If you don't have a tech who can take blood on the weekends or a doctor willing to do it when Pro-med will then it obvious which clinic I will use for now on..... The Doctor and tis place didn't seem like he really cared about my problem. What a shame. read more

Made a 10am appt and left work to go. Got there at 9:45. They sat me in a room and took my blood pressure, throat swab and had me fill out a form. This was about 10am. I was told the throat swab would take 7 minutes. No biggie, I thought. Yes, I could have driven somewhere else and be seen for free but I figured my time was valuable and I have insurance and a flex spend plan so I thought I would save time. At 11:18 I still had not been seen. No one had come in for an hour to at least offer me a glass of water, tell me they only had one doc, or make any attempt to explain the delay. When I arrived there were two people in the waiting room. Had the waiting room been full a long delay would have been more understandable. I literally thought maybe they had misplaced my paperwork and forgot I was there. So I retrieved my TDL and insurance card and left. So much for that. read more

I've been treated here about 2 times. First time it was for the flu. There's free coffee, snacks and other beverages while you wait. When I went into my appointment, the nurse brought me a blanket and there's usually a food channel show playing. I was in and out within 30 minutes and picked up my medication from the heb nearby. The latest time, I forgot my insurance card and they were able to find it on their own. They were very efficient even though it was a holiday. I appreciated their expediency and would recommend this convenient location to those in a pinch. read more

The place is clean, and there was little to no wait, but that is likely in part due to their duplicitous business practices. After being told that Medspring clinics were in-network by another clinic that was out of network, I arrived here for an urgent care appointment and was asked for my insurance information. No mention of any issues and I was quickly ushered in for a literally five minute appointment and then handed a $50 co-pay bill. Later, I received a bill in the mail for the full balance of the visit - another $95. After calling Medspring, I was informed that my insurance was out of network and that as a result they didn't bother submitting an insurance claim. It is pretty unethical not to have told me this upfront or at least given me the option of waiting to actually be seen until they verified my eligibility. Never again... read more

My wife got bit by a stranger's dog on the hike & bike trail. Drove her to MedSpring where they told us they couldn't treat her unless we "had proof that the dog didn't have rabies". WTF? How were we supposed to do that? They actually turned us away. We went to St. David's Emergency Room and they took good care of her. Update: Regarding her response, rabies shots aren't given for dog bites immediately. The bite gets reported to Animal Control and the dog is quarantined for 10 days. The bite should be treated - cleaned and stitched if necessary - and the patient is given antibiotics (All this we learned at the real Emergency Room). Pretty sad that the clinic doesn't know this. read more

Let me start out by saying, all nurses and doctors that I saw today were all extremely nice and helpful. What I have a problem with is that there is only 1 doctor working the entire office for the whole day. There should never only be one doctor working. According to other reviews, there are multiple doctors employed here. Therefore, they MUST schedule 2 or more doctors a day if they want to satisfy customers and have them return/recommend to others. Waiting over 2 hours to be seen is not okay. I have no doubt that the doctor was trying her hardest to see patients in a timely manner but having her by herself is just not ideal. Granted, they did give me a Starbucks gift card for my wait. That was appreciated. But I do wish they would take into account how many patients they see during the day and schedule more doctors. It's allergy season! Be prepared! read more

After making an appointment at another urgent care clinic and waiting an hour with no one at all being called back I looked for an alternative. Found this place, super glad I did. Lanette was very friendly in the waiting room. They offer beverages and snacks while you wait (bonus!). I was called back into a room quickly where I could wait comfortably on a couch watching HGTV (my favorite lol...I suppose you could change the channel, but why would you?!?) Drew and Brittany were excellent nurses/assistants and the doctor was also very good. I feel like I got fast and quality care. This is an excellent choice when your primary care doctor is closed or unavailable. read more

I've been to this urgent care twice now. I didn't have the best experience the first time, but it was just strep so it was easily diagnosed. I went back today for the second and last time. I will say that the facility was beautiful and the service was overall pretty friendly. However, I went in today for severe stomach pains. The doctor came in, I told him my symptoms, and he just looked at me. He told me I stumped him with the different symptoms and that he just didn't know. No blood tests, no urine sample, not even much of an exam. I was charged $145 for him to say he didn't know and refer me to a specialist that can't see me for a month. I would have rather he tried then said he was stumped. It felt like a joke. It was a waste of my time and my money. I will definitely not return. read more

Came in tonight with sharp back pain and was lucky enough to get the special triple-J treatment. Jackson greeted me in the lobby and helped me check in. Got me seated and then brought the tablet to me. Even picked it up when I finished so I wouldn't have to hobble to the desk. And even though I'm white and young (eyeroll to a prior review), Jackson brought out a wheelchair to take me back. I was a little embarrassed and offered to walk but he was very sincere. Went into the room and Jeremy came in to take my blood pressure. Had just as great a personality as Jackson and was nice enough to roll me to my car at the end of my visit without me asking. Dr. Jenna treated me and she was just completely awesome. She talked to me, not at me. Very comfortable approach and speed. Made sure to give me a dr note and a physical prescription just so I wouldn't have any problems with work or the pharmacy while the urgent care was closed. There are closer urgent cares to both my home and work but I wouldn't go anywhere else. Honestly this was the best service I've ever received from medical professionals. Kinda felt like I was at a resort instead of urgent care lol. read more

I made my third trip to this MedSpring today. Every time I've been here the staff has been pleasant and attentive, always explain what they are doing. The doctors explain what's going on and your options. They take their time and don't rush off to the next patient. Today was the longest I've had to wait, but it's right after a holiday so I'm not surprised. What I didn't know was the option to sign in before you ever leave your house! Brilliant! Who wants to sit around a bunch of potentially contagious people! I'll remember that next time! They did also offer the option to let me roll on out to do whatever and text me when it was about time for my name to be next. You kinda can't beat that. I chose to sit and sip my coffee and read magazines. The lobby is calm and quiet. If I can't go to my doctor and I need to be seen, this is where I go! read more

Imagine your neck swells up and you call you primary caregiver is booked. You go to the medspring because you don't feel good. The female doctor who doesn't seem to be competent and instead of examing you decides she wants to type says you have "ring worm." You follow up with your primary caregiver who orders an ultrasound of your neck and find you have an enlarged thyroid after that is exactly what you researched it could be via google. read more

So my appointment I made technically didn't matter for another two hours at the least.. so I decided to reschedule for the morning at 8am at the recommendation of the lady at the front desk and when I got there at 8am the next day I had no appointment scheduled. read more

You can make an appointment but it's completely irrelevant, they just put you in an exam room and you wait behind whoever happens to have gotten there before you. Beautiful facility, but I'm an ICU nurse of 10 years and the care was absolutely sub standard. I went in for fevers, was not given antibiotics. I trusted their judgement and went home to bare it out. They took cultures and said if anything grew, or if my condition worsened, then they would start antibiotics. Still 3 days later with fevers (calling them daily) they still did not wanna provide antibiotics because it wasn't the original doctor who saw me. Ended up in the ER in much worse shape, where they gave me antibiotics immediately. After 6 days, found out from the nurse at my speciality docs office, the urgent care's lab messed up cultures and they were no good.... they never even had the decency to tell me. Complete waste of time and money, and added length to illness. If you care about your health...do not go here. read more

I am new to Austin and had an accident on Saturday. I FINALLY gave in and went to the Urgent Care Sunday because MY CRUSHED thumb was looking worse. Well ... it WAS! I had literally crushed the bone in my thumb. The only good that came of this painful accident was the Med Spring Urgent Care on W. Ben White. It was Sunday evening and I waited LESS than 5 minutes to see the nurse, provided basic information and was greeted by the Doctor. I then had to have ex-rays. The COMPLETE visit took less than 35 minutes. The staff was incredibly professional, polite and had a great bed side approach. The facility was spotless and did not have that "usual" hospital look and smell. I would HIGHLY recommend this facility in the event you need minor emergency attention! read more

This was by far the absolute worst experience I have EVER had with a doctor. The only thing I enjoyed while being here was leaving. From the beginning, the technician was distant and unpleasant. I felt like a number, not a person. I was never asked what my symptoms, instead she took my vitals and left the room with a "doctor will be with you shortly on her way out". Then, the doctor came in. He never introduced himself, so I can't tell you who to avoid. His bedside manner was absolutely horrible. The first thing he asked was "What's wrong with you?" When I explained what was wrong, he simply brushed it off and said there was nothing he could do for me. I never even received an examination. I tried to keep my frustrations down. After explaining that I was in serious pain, he told me he could maybe give me a shot. This was not what I needed. I just told him to call in a prescription for some medication and told him what I needed. Just like the technician, he was distant and cold. It was extremely unpleasant. After leaving MedSpring, I went home to wait for my prescription to be filled. After waiting for over two hours, I went to Walgreens to pick up my prescription. Of course, it was never called in. At this point, I was absolutely furious. When the pharmacist asked who my doctor was and I told them MedSpring she just shook her head and said "you'll have to call and remind them, they usually take a very long time to call in a prescription". This is unacceptable. After being on hold with MedSpring for over 20 minutes, John finally answered the phone. He was very friendly and understanding and said that he would find out why my prescription was not ready. The others could learn from him. Overall, if you go to MedSpring, you will be overcharged to diagnose yourself and not have your prescription taken care of. It's Austin, you can easily find somewhere better for Urgent Care and I highly recommend you do. Overall, I was overcharged to self-diagnose myself to a doctor and to wait in line at Walgreens. I would highly recommend going somewhere else. read more
