No one wants to go to an emergency vet. But if you do, you want it to be an effective and efficient visit to help your pet as quickly as possible. Our black lab (Ollie), took some kitchen scissors out of the sink and chewed the handles while we were sleeping. We found the chewed scissors with no pieces of the handle to be found. We assumed he ingested them and decided to be safe and take him to an emergency vet. First, we took him to a closer, well known emergency vet in Hilliard. After an hour wait, we discovered they were not equipped to help. Seems like any emergency vet should be able to handle an accidental ingestion, but they couldn't and what they could do was at least another 90 minute wait. I should add that I understand that Ollie was not in immediate danger (yet) and his appearance and behavior were good enough to tolerate a long wait - but I just didn't like how unprepared they seemed for what I think should be a relatively routine incident. We left and intended to go to their larger location, but it was such a poor experience I wanted to find an alternative. We found the Dublin VEG and it was relatively close. I called ahead and talked to a pleasant staff member who gave me an idea of the types of things we would likely need and she indicated they could handle this sort of issue. We arrived received immediate attention. They quickly x-rayed the scissors to see if the handle material would show up clearly enough to make it effective and when it confirmed, they quickly got Ollie in and x-rayed. They were able to rule out any large pieces and it felt safe to proceed with induced vomiting. Several minutes later, the bits and pieces of the handles were out of Ollie, giving us a sigh of relief. I wish I could remember names, but the staff were all amazing. The care plan options were immediate - even in a somewhat tricky scenario given the material. The caring and demeanor of all of the staff put us at ease right away and we knew we made the right decision to come here. The open layout was immediately comforting to both us and our dog. I had noticed the comment on the website that said that this would be a different sort of experience, but I didn't really think about it. After experiencing this place, I don't think I could go back to the old way of being separated while your pet is taken into some back room. If I could give them ten stars, I would. I hope we don't need an emergency vet again, but if we do, we won't go anywhere else. read more

It's never ideal to have to bring a pet for emergency care, but it helps when the people genuinely care about the pets, their people and each other. My experience at VEG was as good as a late night vet visit could be, and better than the experience at the regular vet, if I'm honest. Ginger was seen as soon as we walked in. The facility was very clean and I loved the open space concept. Everything was very transparent and I didn't feel like anything was being recommended or decided behind my back. The staff would check regularly on all the pets and demonstrated so much care. The staff presented me with various care options with no judgement or pressure to choose a treatment plan throughout the process. They even offered snacks and drinks while I waited. They weren't in any rush to make us leave, and even helped get Ginger back in my car as it was super icy outside. I will absolutely recommend VEG to anyone in need of an emergency vet. read more

Coming home about 2 weeks ago on 270 a car just ahead of his clipped a dog. Traffic came to a stop, the dog was terrified, limping, and bleeding. Several great samaratins got out, stopped traffic altogether and saved the dog from running/limping out in front of a car. My wife and I work with a rescue and we scooped the dog up, put him in the back of our car and brought him here. This place was amazing. They came out, got him out of the car, sedated him, calmed him down, talked to us for as much detail as we could give. Thankfully he was tagged and chipped so we called the # on the tag. They were amazing to both of us and more importantly the dog we brought in. If either of our dogs ever need emergency care I'll be taking them here. An incredible place from top to bottom. read more

I called VEG when my cat was in crisis. She was panting. When I talked to the receptionist she asked if I wanted to speak to a doctor. I said yes. She put me on hold. Five minutes later, still on hold, I hung up and called another hospital. The receptionist at this hospital asked what was going on with my cat. I told her. She said "Bring her in." This call took about one and one-half minutes and I was on my way. If I could give 0 star, I would....probably the worst doggy day care I have come across across the states in US. We went for a trial, the worst experience ever. We would never go back. They have about 6 big dogs of their own. Don't know how to take care of dogs. They just want to make money. Pushing customers to send dogs every week even if not needed. The entire VEG staff is wonderful! My husband and I arrived at midnight with our 3 mo old puppy. He was struggling to breath! We saw the Doc in about 5 min. She spoke with us while performing an ultrsound. Then he had Xrays and blood work. We were offered water and snacks. Shortly, we recieved his diagnosis and were sent home with antibioaticss, reminded to monitor symtoms, return if any problems within 72 hours and a follow up with our vet. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this vet. They're very compassionate and I never saw a waiting room. They took us right in and triaged my pup within the 1st 10 mins. We had a care plan and then executed it. I love the open concept where you can see the vets taking care of other pets not just leave you in a small room wondering when they'll return. You never leave your pets side for any procedure and if something happens they all rush over. While I was there a man came in with a cat that was actively struggling and the way they handled the subject of end of life was inspiring. I would hate if I needed them again, but if so, I would not hesitate. Pricey, but worth it. read more

Had to take my dog due to an aleve ingestion. They were great I would like to thank Brittany, Faith, & everyone who helped with my large (150lb) baby. Dr was great, she came, sit on the floor so Little Bit Faith could see she was there to help and let him get used to her. I have only seen one other vet to do that and that is our vet at Parson Animal Clinic. The Dr & Faith explained everything they were going to do, tests etc. The Dr followed up the next day. VEG is a great resource when needing right now treatment. The service is great, compassion went above & beyond. They were busy, yet they treated everyone with care. I thought they were horrible. Took my pup in and vet was more interested in telling me he was working here and Chicago. He took bandage off pup's leg and said this stinks. Yes, it was not healing which is why I took her there. Lowest paid employee cleaned her wound gave me stuff to clean with and bandaged. Vet said if not healing take her to your vet. My vet was a practice that Veg-o-matic had purchased. I did, Bethel Animal Hospital diagnosed her as having cancer. I had two choices Medd-Vet or OSU. Only wish I had known OSU had primary care. I would never have wasted time and effort with Vegetables and Bethel Rd Animal Hospital. I my opinion Veggies charged me $500 for committing malpractice. Would never recommend. read more

My baby hadn't been feeling well for a few days (just more lethargic) but then puked 4 times in 3 hours. The next day I monitored her and thought she was fine but she puked again that night. I took her to medvet at 1030. I was told they had a lot of urgent cases and my wait could be 8-12 hours. I was ok with that because my baby need help. At 230 I was told it'd be 1-2 hours because 3 other people left (no communication from 1130-230). Again I was fine with that but at 530 I still had no communication so I called the next closest open animal ER and they had no wait so we left. I'm SO glad we did. They were pleasant, communicative, and explained everything AS it was happening. They were great and I was able to be with my dog (or on the other side of the x-ray door) the whole time. We were most impressed by the facility, equipment, and professionalism of the staff. It was on a par to any hospital we've worked in. This facility has an open floor plan, it is very uncomfortable to be in the situation to have to be here with your pet for any reason but while you are in tears, there are other families in tears sitting across from you. My family had to take our senior dog here because he needed fluids overnight and while he was in our laps, a family was across from us upset whether or not their bulldog would make it. Apart from that, the staff couldn't get the IV right and had to repeatedly poke our dog in the leg multiple times, but they were making jokes about it to each other having others try. The staff was young and not very caring about how sad we were. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want privacy while your pet is in pain and professional staff that take the situation seriously. read more

we were referred to VEG Dublin by our regular veterinarian because of concern about our dog Cooper. Our veterinarian office contacted them to alert them we were on our way and sent his records to them. when we arrived they were expecting us and the doctor our doctor spoke to got us immediately settled in. The entire time we were there as they assessed him, they allowed us to stay with him. They went above and beyond to get extra imaging while the specialist was there to interpret the results. We definitely felt seen and heard throughout our entire experience. The doctors went out of their way to share all his imaging and test results with us in real time. In addition, all of the staff made sure both we and our Cooper were as comfortable as possible given the emergency situation. In fact, they spoiled him with so much attention that once he was feeling better he got sassy with them when no one was paying attention to him. I have been a pet owner most of my life and have never had such a compassionate emergency experience. We are very grateful for the wonderful treatment that we as a family received. read more

I've been to this particular facility probably a handful of times. It has always been exceptional, (even when I had to have my dog euthanized) -until yesterday. I thought I had finally found the gold standard for all facilities. Then I realized, it's not the facility itself, but rather the people inside. While I am truly grateful that VEG exists and is another option, I was truly disappointed in the entire visit. Knowledge is everything, but compassion ranks right up there for me. I felt the latter was lacking. Would've been five stars, but yesterday ruined that. Will I return? Most likely. Will I still recommend? Probably. But not with as much touting as before. read more

What a truly amazing group of staff members work at the Tuller Road, Columbus, Ohio Veterinary Emergency Group. What was a super stressful time for me and our cat, Callie turned into less stress for me at a terribly sad time in my life. Upon taking Callie Girl to VET, my Mom and I were met by wonderful people that knew just what to do. Callie was a 5 year old Maine Coon Calico cat and was diagnosed as having Heart Failure after having an ultrasound. All staff were extremely compassionate in the care they gave. They explained everything they were doing, and what was being done going forward. Callie had to be put down and My Mom and I were allowed to be with her through the whole thing. I held her in my arms as the vet explained what he was doing and what each medication would do. Callie drifted off to sleep and was no longer in pain. Thank you VEG. Extremely friendly staff! Treated me and my dog like family and was very thorough on their assessment, cost and care plan. My dog got sick over the weekend and was having breathing issues. My vet would not see him for another 3 days. Due to seeing my dogs situation I felt he could not wait. I read other reviews and felt good about coming here vs Med vets or OSU. They saw my dog and I right away and after and hour and a half with assessment and X-ray it was identified my dog had pneumonia. Like any urgent care/ emergency room cost are slightly above a standard vet but is well worth it to not see my dog worsen before my vet office was willing to see him. The bedside manner of this office was amazing and made me feel comfortable and validated the reason I brought my dog in. Highly recommend! read more

The staff is incredible! My roommate and I found two abandoned dogs and had called around for hours trying to find somewhere to help us help the dogs with no luck. After being referred here we gave a call and immediately were told to bring the dogs in for care! They were extremely kind to us and the pups and helped us get them the medicine they need to start to mend. Our 15 year old cat was blinking her left eye more than usual. It looked swollen to me. I took her to the VEG animal hospital in Dublin, Ohio. They took us back right away. They were kind and attentive. Within a few minutes after doing a test on her eye they said she had an ulcer. They prescribed antibiotic eye drops. The Dr and staff at VEG were fast and efficient. If I could choose no stars I would, but that wasn't an option. This review is in regards to one provider, as I did not have experience with other providers that work there. I am beyond furious, disappointed, and disgusted with the services I received for my 10 week old puppy at this facility. I am a provider in the human world myself... and I understand diagnoses can be tricky. With that being said, a provider should not diagnose something if they are unsure. My baby was diagnosed with mild to moderate pneumonia. I had two other veterinarians, that were seen within 12 hours of the VEG visit, tell me that there was no presence of pneumonia. In fact, my puppy's lungs did not present with pneumonia and had actually improved several days later. The provider at VEG stated the pneumonia was so severs that she recommended 12-24 hours of hospitalization. Best part... they wanted nearly $4000 for this. In addition to this, there were two very obvious abnormalities discovered by the other veterinarians on imaging. The same imaging that was conducted by VEG. One abnormality being stones in my pups abdomen and the other being abnormal bones/ joints. Now, neither of these abnormalities were discussed, brought up, or mentioned during my visit with VEG. I then decided to throughly review my pup's note written by the provider at VEG. The provider noted both abnormalities on my puppy's note, which infuriates me even more. So the provider was aware of abnormalities but did not find it necessary to discuss those abnormalities with the owner? Whatever is reported in a medical note must also be discussed during visits! that goes for any provider of a human, dog, crab, bird etc. My puppy unfortunately passed away likely from congenital causes and inability to thrive. Although this is nobody's fault... it would have been helpful to understand all abnormalities, as her prognosis/quality of life would have been better understood. In addition to this, the aseptic techniques / transmission practices were inconsistent and did not make sense. And lastly, they were not able to wait for us to be checked out after supportive care to pay. They actually had a front desk employee gather money in the room with the door open? It felt like... the main concern was money. I wanted to say.. don't worry you'll be paid. I requested education for home care and did not receive that either. Horrible experience, all about money, potentially very inexperienced provider/inefficient or non compliant provider! read more
