Our black lab (Ollie), took some kitchen scissors out of the sink and chewed the handles while we were sleeping. We found the chewed scissors with no pieces of the handle to be found. We assumed he ingested them and decided to be safe and take him to an emergency vet. First, we took him to a closer, well known emergency vet in Hilliard. After an hour wait, we discovered they were not equipped to help. Seems like any emergency vet should be able to handle an accidental ingestion, but they couldn't and what they could do was at least another 90 minute wait. I should add that I understand that Ollie was not in immediate danger (yet) and his appearance and behavior were good enough to tolerate a long wait - but I just didn't like how unprepared they seemed for what I think should be a relatively routine incident. We left and intended to go to their larger location, but it was such a poor experience I wanted to find an alternative. We found the Dublin VEG and it was relatively close. I called ahead and talked to a pleasant staff member who gave me an idea of the types of things we would likely need and she indicated they could handle this sort of issue. We arrived received immediate attention. They quickly x-rayed the scissors to see if the handle material would show up clearly enough to make it effective and when it confirmed, they quickly got Ollie in and x-rayed. They were able to rule out any large pieces and it felt safe to proceed with induced vomiting. Several minutes later, the bits and pieces of the handles were out of Ollie, giving us a sigh of relief. I wish I could remember names, but the staff were all amazing. The care plan options were immediate - even in a somewhat tricky scenario given the material. The caring and demeanor of all of the staff put us at ease right away and we knew we made the right decision to come here. The open layout was immediately comforting to both us and our dog. I had noticed the comment on the website that said that this would be a different sort of experience, but I didn't really think about it. After experiencing this place, I don't think I could go back to the old way of being separated while your pet is taken into some back room. If I could give them ten stars, I would. I hope we don't need an emergency vet again, but if we do, we won't go anywhere else.

My experience at VEG was as good as a late night vet visit could be, and better than the experience at the regular vet, if I'm honest. Ginger was seen as soon as we walked in. The facility was very clean and I loved the open space concept. Everything was very transparent and I didn't feel like anything was being recommended or decided behind my back. The staff would check regularly on all the pets and demonstrated so much care. The staff presented me with various care options with no judgement or pressure to choose a treatment plan throughout the process. They even offered snacks and drinks while I waited. They weren't in any rush to make us leave, and even helped get Ginger back in my car as it was super icy outside. I will absolutely recommend VEG to anyone in need of an emergency vet.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by everyone. They were so kind. The plan is an open concept where staff members are not only assisting you, but also assisting the other patients. After the initial assessment, they bring you to a private room. At least this was my experience. They treated my baby girl Chanel like a queen. They were open and honest with their findings, as well as what possible next steps were. It is the worst thing to have to decide what to do when bringing finances into it. Again, they were open and honest and absolutely doted on Chanel. I was able to come and go as I needed, and in the meantime, I knew that my cat was in good hands. No ER visit is ever a wanted visit, however, my stress definitely went down after seeing their care of her. Unfortunately, my cat had been down a very long road, and looking back, I didn't know this would be the week that she would cross the rainbow bridge. However, I had a second visit just a few days later to VEG ER after bringing her home from a hospitalization. And this is when again they were open honest and caring to Chanel. They gave me options again. They were up front with what they felt would be the outcome if we went down the full path. At that time we opted to put Chanel to rest. They let us sit back in the room with her for as long as we wanted. They had a book that you could write your stories and you could cuddle as long as you needed it and could reach out to them when you were ready. It is never the easiest to make such a decision however they were so kind in the process. I would highly recommend bringing your pets here for any urgent needs, because they will treat them like family while including you in on the care. I don't know the staff members' names for my second visit, I'd like to call out the amazing staff members that were working at our first visit. The following were all amazing and I thank you so very much for all of the care that you did. Dr Wakefield, Dr Wentworth, Ceondra, Rachel, Vicki, Alissa, Sydney, Jaylah. Shout out to those who helped the next visit? But i didn't get any names (it was an emotional night as stated above). You guys rock, even during my fur babies toughest times! Thank you all for being amazing.

Zachary was amazing, the first visit we had to wait awhile in the car. Zachary came out and made sure that my dog was still doing okay. He is so nice, treated my pup like his own. The other receptionist was amazing as well, I sadly didn't get her name to mention in this review. We had Katie T. As our assistant for the doctor. She was great with our pup. Both doctors we had were great as well. I'm happy to say we will be returning as a patient.

I only received a voicemail from the receptionist Marissa (who is not allowed/permitted to communicate the bloodwork to me) about how they are busy due to the holiday and to expect a call. This call has still not been made by the manager nor the vet to communicate my cats bloodwork about heart disease. Disappointed. I have taken my babies here for the last few years, and recently this year they have dropped the ball. My oldest cat had bloodwork done, no communication had been received about bloodwork results. Not only have they not communicated bloodwork, but when I visited in April, i mentioned an issue of my cat itching themselves and over grooming. My cat apparently had fleas and although the receptionist said there were notes claiming they communicated flea treatments, I never actually was communicated the need of flea treatments or anything. The receptionist Marissa was rude and was not very attentive when i told her the issue, she just repeated information i had mentioned, like the appointment being in April and was trying to say that my cat must have gotten fleas AFTER when she has been itching and excessively grooming. I called Wednesday and was told both a vet and the manager would contact me regarding the issue, and to communicate the bloodwork I paid for; no one has given me any call back whatsoever. I expressed how now I have to treat my house AND my other cat because of their negligence and I have wasted my money on a blood exam they havent given me results to, when i paid a lot of money to get treatment and for the vet visit. Extremely frustrating and disappointed in how this place has been handling treatment to my babies.

They weren't busy around noon on a weekday. We got in, they got the docs my vet had sent and examined her, and things were just as bad as our vet had suspected. We had hoped for an overnight stay and a treatment plan, but it just wasn't going to help much. The staff were very empathetic and patient while we figured out what we were going to do. Sweetie came in to be with her while I picked Kid K up from school. The staff also made sure to take kid concerns into account. They're open 24 hours, and not every visit is going to end like this. Downside: The wait for the actual exam was extremely long. There were long gaps between updates, and I was told the vet would be in "shortly," but it ended up being over 30 minutes. I knew upfront that it would be expensive, and I was willing to pay because the alternative was waiting two more days for my regular vet. Still, the delays were frustrating. Overall, they were much more receptive and helpful than my usual vet, but I would only come here for an emergency or if I can't get into my regular vet in a timely manner.

I'll be brief. I recently lost my beloved 6 year old cat at MedVet after his 4 day stay there…read more That loss was very difficult and painful enough, but the over $12,000.00 vet bill for his care and stay made his death much, much worse due to the sad simple fact that MedVet does not offer either any kind of a bereavement discount if your pet dies in their care or any kind of a discount to seniors living on a limited income. Those types of compassionate discounts are something that they very seriously need to think about offering. I think it would seriously help with their ratings (and their ratings could frankly use some help). I honestly do trust that they did everything possible to save my cats life and they all appeared very professional, very caring, compassionate and concerned. However, their billing policies shows very clearly that their final bottom line is that they are very much a "for-profit business" and you should have no illusions about that if you take your pet there for help. The first thing they ask about after getting your name and your pets name and why you are there, is your credit card information. One final thought......please carefully look over their other reviews here (I sincerely wish I had before I took my poor cat there) and then think about what you have read in these reviews a bit and then honestly ask yourself: "Why are so, so many of their reviews only one star?" I didn't think too much of it until they kept recommending unnecessary expensive procedures! I felt like they were out to get money, not care for my dog! Being seen by so many different docs every appointment how could they assess her accurately? Most recently my dog was seen by Dr. Thompson. The exam visit now costs $72! Just to walk in the door! Dr. T gave her allergy meds that had negative side effects & weren't working. After a misdiagnosis of my dog who was actually getting worse, 5 days later they wanted another $72 exam plus $240 for X-rays & $??? for tests! A second opinion from a new vet yielded a collapsed trachea and a bad infection that needed antibiotics not allergy meds. No X-ray was needed, just good vet experience! I was told to stop the prescribed meds from My Vet because they were not necessary! My dog has also has been suffering from a disease that NO Dr. here ever diagnosed before! There is no Dr. on call here over the weekends- they'll tell you to go to MedVet! It will take them until 2pm Monday to even return your call & don't get me started on the incompetent receptionists they have here! I found out that the Bishops sold their practice to MVP! Dr Jill no longer works there & Dr Dan is only in on T&Th. You'll get an inexperienced new Dr. if you don't ask! And shame on the Bishops for not letting their clients know that they sold out!! Not one word - no email, newsletter, nothing! I do not recommend this place at all!! I now drive 25 minutes to a new vet who actually cares about my pet!
