The place and food are disgusting from the moment you walk in. I got some Cantonese chow mein, and it looks like no other food I've eaten on earth. I wouldn't even give it to a raccoon in an alley for fear what might happen. Second time ordering here, and second time opening a box to food that doesn't look edible. They also wouldn't let me return it for a refund. lol they don't even want their own garbage back. It's no surprise they don't really have pictures on the menu. No one would be ordering from here if they knew what it looked like before. Too bad there isn't another Chinese place around. This dive would be easy to topple. I ordered from this place and unfortunately it was just plain nasty as hell. The egg roll was soggy and flavorless. Potstickers were huge and gummy, the combo chow mein had overcooked grey vegetables and had 2 shrimps and the rest had super tenderized beef that was not fresh and absolutely no chicken. If you want good Chinese food, DONT GO HERE!! When you walk in you immediately notice how dirty it is and there is no seating for dining in. I knew this was going to be bad but I was hungry so I just ordered pork fried rice. I thought easy enough, it was horrible. About a third of the rice was way under cooked and the pork was dry, had no flavor and seemed like it was a week old. I asked for extra mustard packs and the cashier did not want to give them to me. Went there since 1987. Used to have decent Chinese food which we have once a week. It has gone downhill; the food across the menu is not good, yet more expensive. Also, the cashier is rude. Although it is farther we have been going to Hong Kong Chop Suey on Rte 45 in Mundelein. Food is far superior, lower in price, and the staff is great. This is the only place that will make a combination almond ding for me. It's delicious too!! The portions are huge so be prepared to eat for days or share with many! I love the shrimp fried rice extra spicy also, it's a meal in itself! Their noodle dishes are delicious and if you're feeling a cold coming on, I swear by their chicken soup with chili sauce added. You get a lot of okay Chinese food for a reasonable price. They don't have a website, an online menu, and they don't deliver. In this way they are basically unplugged from the world, and the choices here reflect that. There are your standard orange chicken and sweet/sour mix that you expect. Nothing really stands out. I ordered a large orange chicken, made spicy. Didn't really make any difference. It was basically 3lb of fried chicken nuggets soaked in an orange sauce. It was a HUGE amount of food. More than 2 meals worth, for $13, it just wasn't very good. The interior of the restaurant really needs help. If feels like a community pool, with a gross chlorine sterilization-feel throughout. The staff isn't really helpful. They charge $0.25 for a hot sauce... Weird. TL:DR; Get a lot of mediocre chicken for less than $20. Not the best option. read more

An easy option to cooking or waiting around. It's not exactly a "fine dining experience" but the food is authentic and the portions feel right for the price. I particularly like the fact that I can purchase whole bottles of the sauces they use to take home, because the little packets are never enough one at a time. I found out about this place from a friend. It's actually been my go-to place for fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. In love with their combination fried rice. You get a lot of food for the money. Not very fancy looking inside the restaurant and I usually get my orders to go. My personal favorites are the egg foo young and pork fried rice. Also, recommend the crab rangoon appetizer as well as the won ton soup. They also have a chef suggestion and my favorite of that is the four seasons, great variety of flavor. read more

I'm between a 4 and 5 the lunch specials are a very good deal you get a lot of food for very little. I had the beef and broccoli and it was amazing! The egg roles are also very good. Fried rice is also delicious! This is definitely a great place to get a quick lunch. read more

I never trust reviews of suburban restaurants, mostly because these north shore suburbanites seem to have no idea what good food is. Dynasty Chinese is the number one rated Chinese place around here, followed by PF Changs. Need I say more? I rest my case. Note, this rating is based strictly on the food, the restaurant itself is kinda dingy, takeout recommended. Dynasty? Yuck. Little Szechwan? Not bad, but pricy. Everything in Highland park? Decent but costly. After trying over seven restaurants in the area, this is the clear winner. The portions are massive. The "small" size is more than enough for 2 people for any item. Now, the size isn't all that they do well. The food here is home made, and fresh. Never frozen. Egg rolls rolled there, crab rangoons prepped there, and everything else, from the veggies to the meat is fresh to death. The potstickers are just as good as the ones I ate on my travels throughout China. Oh and they are huge as well, not your average dinky dumpling. (They take minimum 20 minutes, so call ahead for these) Oh yeah, and for 25 cents, they will upgrade all of your rice to fried rice, and their rice is amazing. So for $20, you can get 2 small entrees, order egg rolls and fried rice, with enough left over for 2 more meals! I usually don't write reviews these days. Been coming here for 40+ years. I've been to many cities in China many times. Love the reviewers who say this isn't Cinese food for many Chinese restuarants in USA. Just prove they really know nothing about China. It's a takeout restaurant with large quantities, lowest prices, absolutely dependable quality and no one is better north suburbs for basic Chinese counting variety, fresh vegetables, selection, quantity, etc. Try egg foo young, golden corn??, chow mein made with bean sprouts, etc. If you want great Chinese, go to Ming Hin downtown or Chinatown. Chinatown seats almost 1000 people. In suburbs, no great Chinese. Just basic and this is very good. read more

It's an ok place. I ordered shrimp fried rice and kung pao chicken. The shrimp rice was meh the actual shrimp tasted like a freezer. The king pao chicken was okay too. Really like this place. I think they have my favorite fried rice in the Chicagoland area. It's a tad on the greasy side, so go in expecting that. This is not authentic Chinese food, but it is good American Chinese food. Besides their fried rice, another notable thing I like is the beef skewers. Fried peanuts are also very tasty. It is counter service, so order, take a seat, and they'll bring it out. Staff is very friendly and the space is always clean. Easy to park there also. Talk about HUGE portions. If you cant feed 2 people for $20 and more than likely have leftovers, then something just ain't right. By far the biggest pot stickers i have ever seen. As far as taste, i cant say they are the best i have ever had but they are far from the worst. I guess i would call it mediocre but definitely would visit them again if i was short on cash and had a massive craving for Chinese food. This Chinese restaurant has been in Highwood for many years. The quality of the food remains the same, but their service has been going down the drain. Awful service!!! Their fried rice is good. It is well cooked with many interesting combination of ingredients but a bit greasy. The egg roles and crab Rangoons are good. Not the frozen kind. They are big and always hot and tasty. Definitely something to try. The service of this establishment is really bad. The cook, owner or whoever manages the restaurant is extremely frugal. I have order countless of times for three people and they only give me one tiny container of hot sauce, and a couple of packages of soy sauce. One hot sauce is not enough for two containers of rice, which by the way last for days, egg roles and crag Rangoon. In the past they used to give you more. Now they are just cheap and rude when you ask for more, not to mentioned the fact that you have to pay $1.25 for more sauce. Once I called for take out and they got my order wrong.
