This place is located in a strip mall. It's small but not super tight. I may even call it cozy. The food is very good but this is a no frills place. Don't expect doting customer service and someone to ask you six times if you need anything else. The food is great. Best for take out. Service is not too bad either. Love their teas. Shrimp tempura makes my mouth water every time I think of it. Their soups are too good especially if you are craving non spicy food. Pad Thai and curries are flavorful. Fried Tofu appetizer is one of the best. This use to be my favorite Asian food. I'd travel 25 miles; not any more. It was horrible...service and food. We asked for the Chinese crackers w/sauce. There was about an 1-oz sauce; asked our waiter if we could have more, 4 would be dining. He said, 'no.' Then the crackers were stale; oh well, there wasn't anything he could do. We ordered the appetizer special...vegetable dumplings wrapped in rice paper; they were lukewarm-to-cold. Did mention this; oh, this is the way suppose to be served. It did not state on menu these would be cold! The tea was hot, but weak. Guess they're trying to stretch the tea! I did my usual tale-out order. 'The sesame vegetable dumplings with peanut spicy sauce and the basil chicken. These dumplings had been placed on 5" container; to allow them not to stick together with ample sauce. Not this time; were in small container...they were stuck together, congealed and skimpy amount of peanut sauce. On the other hand, the basil chicken was good as usual. When I decided to heat the dumplings, well didn't get the sesame vegetable dumplings; no idea what it was because they were stuck together, meat and shrimp. Disgusting, GARBAGE! I even asked our waiter to repeat the order when given. Our waiter was about 5'8", skinny w/black rimmed glasses. Every time we asked or made a comment, he didn't seem to want to help. For a Saturday evening, usally there would be a 15-30 minute; not this time. Maybe indicatative of the service and food! We were there at prime dinner time. We did order the basil chicken, mixed vegetabes w/garlic sauce and moo shoo pork; these were good. The basil chicken and veggie dishes were salty which hadn't been in the past. read more

I've been coming to this place since it first opened. The quality of the food varies from flat out incredible to flat out inedible. There's no telling which you're going to get. Sometimes the seafood tastes like it was marinated in mercury. The WORST part is the owner. Kathy can be absolutely rude. It seems like she doesn't give a damn about her customers. She forgets that our business is what keeps her in business. Tonight I came in at 8:30 with a party of three. She had the audacity to tell us that they were closing at 9:30. She knows us well, and knows that we never linger after we eat. We were finished eating, paid the bill, and were out the door by 8:55. When I used to live in Edison my parent and I used to go here quite often. I hadn't been in couple of years though. I was amazed at how good and consistent the quality of food was when I went back. I got the same two dishes I've always gotten. Chicken with mixed veggies and fish fillet with black bean sauce. Both were amazing. The prices are still very reasonable and the service is fast. My only issue with this place is the owner/manager. She gets very cranky around closing time and rushes customers even if they've already been seated. read more

This place has decent food, but the price is way too high for the quality and the service is rather poor. My girlfriend, my best friend and I ate here one night and it took approximately 20 minutes to get any food. Everything was served family style and you don't get rice with the meal. The most annoying part was our waiter seemed to speak perfect English until it came time to pay and we asked him to split the check. He was really confused when we asked if my friend could pay cash and then what ever the balance was I would pay with my card. My friend gave him $25 and the bill should have come to ~$27 for my girlfriend and myself. Well, the bill comes back and the waiter hand me a bill for the total cost of the meal, believing that the $25 was his tip! Year right, buddy! Apparently there's something hard to comprehend about "You don't have to stick with the traditional Chinese restaurant fare." When you're at a place with a giant exotic menu, think about it - that probably means they know how to make special things. You don't have to rely on chicken and broccoli. At one table I heard "What do they have here, the usual things?" "Yes." and at another "Oh we'd like a second order of steamed dumplings." You see this huge menu of stuff and you get a second order of the same flavor?? DON'T MAKE ME GET UP!! One time I was there, and the table next to me started berating my favorite waiter because they couldn't find bok choy on the menu. The waiter kept saying "Chinese broccoli" in reply, but they were all "What kind of restaurant doesn't have bok choy!" insulting his living. That would be like going to a fancy Italian restaurant and saying "Why don't you have Spaghetti-Os?! "Well sir, why don't you try our hand-made squash ravioli made with imported truffle oil blabla" "What kind of place is this without Spaghetti-Os?!" I couldn't take it anymore and I finally interrupted and assured them they'd be more than happy with the Chinese broccoli. And they ate every last bit and said to each other how it was great. So I'm going to just list out what you should get for the first couple of times that you go. It's a lot of things. If you're in a group of two or three that would be great. If not, either try the things in different visits, or just have leftovers. They'll still be better than any Chinese restaurant you've ever gone to, no matter how you warm them up. The dumplings have shrimp inside. The other soups are great too but you must know about this one.) * SUBSTITUTE BROWN RICE FOR WHITE RICE - BETTER FOR YOU AND YUMMY SPICY LOVERS: ============= BEEF - THIS RECOMMENDED DISH ON HOLD; NEW CHEF DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT YET - * Shredded Beef with Hot Chili Peppers (Unless you really really love hot things, you should probably pick out all the hot peppers, but NOT the scallions, pay attention. If the head chef is cooking, you may be able to leave the hot peppers in, and even people who never eat hot things can still bear it. I don't know what it is that's happening when he cooks. I feel fairly certain he's not sneaking in with a special utility belt filled with special oils and seasonings; I guess it's just how long and how hot he cooks things. It's always great food, but if he's there, you hallucinate from how good it is.) PORK * Boneless Pork Chops with Peppercorns and Chili Peppers (These are very thin and fried in some magic way. A little salty; if you've also gotten the Shredded Beef with Hot Chili Peppers, get all those hot peppers you were going to throw out and put them on this dish. I don't know why the hot peppers that were unbearable on the shredded beef are crucial here and you can just eat them straight up. I suspect it is just a Mystery of Life. Maybe it's a food combination thing. Like how they say to eat applesauce when you eat pork because it helps you digest. At any rate, I cannot properly explain it. People who can't bear spicy can push off the hot peppers in this dish and the pork won't burn them, but really, if you're afraid to die, you're afraid to live.) CAN'T BEAR SPICY / ADDITIONAL ============================ VEGETABLES AND TOFU * Dried Sauteed String Beans or Sauteed Chinese Broccoli with Fresh Garlic POULTRY * Basil Chicken (But don't do it if you really don't like basil.) * Golden Ginger Chicken (Amazing.) SEAFOOD * Golden Ginger Prawns (If you're not in the mood for chicken; IDK why it says prawns, to me they're just giant shrimp.) * Aromatic Prawns (This comes in a fried bowl of some crispy thing, and has a kind of sweet white sauce and pineapple and delicious carmelized walnuts.) I'm a big fan of Meemah's, and although some of my friends and family find that it is simply average, I think it is consistently excellent. Whenever the dinner question remains unanswered and 7:00 rolls around, I almost always head over to pick up my usual: chicken and broccoli with brown rice. It's always flavorful and piping hot. The woman that owns the restaurant is very sharp and definitely knows what she is doing- she somehow manages to seat customers, answer the phone/take orders, and man the cash register all at the same time. The gentleman at front reg ister needs a complete attitude adjustment. You can not get any nastier that him. The food is not so great, over-rated, and way ,way overpriced. Asked for a chicken dinner, got a ton of rice and a few pieces of chicken(not sure if it was chicken). Waiters are stone-faced nasty people(along with owner) They all look miserable. My husband and I come here for Christmas every year with his parents. I absolutely love this restaurant - the food is unique and so flavorful. We always order the same dishes and share: -Steamed vegetable dumplings in sesame peanut sauce -House crispy fish with mixed vegetables -Kway teo with seafood -Tofu with fresh shitakes -Chinese broccoli with garlic And it's BYO! Came here for lunch in the middle of the week. Their service was very quick and the portion size was quite decent. I had the chicken with ginger which comes with some string beans which are pan fried with a thickened sweet oister and soy sauce. The food was actually tasty but kind of overpriced. Have heard this is a great place for Chinese. My Wife has been here many times and enjoyed the food. We were prepared to go again last night around 9PM. The "closing time" is listed as 10PM. It is located in a strip mall and has a small dining room. When we walked in around 9, we were promptly greeted with "Take out only" while looking around to see other diners there. Granted this night there had been a small accumulation of snow that day (1 to 2" max), the 'polite' greeting was also followed by 'we are closing early, it is very slow'. In turn we turned around and left. I would not recommend to any young couple who is looking for a quite night as accommodations in the dining room are quite cramped looking and the front windows highlight the vertical shades (always a nice legacy from the '80's). read more

Its important to note that even though these guys advertise and say they are a malaysian place, they are really mala chineese and cook more of the Chineese food rather than classic malaysian like Roti Canai and other coconut milk based dishes which is classic Malaysian, so in my ranking of classic Malay they are a One star... However they do cook a real mean selection of Chineese food, I visited this place almost 15 years ago when I tried to order the classic malay dishes and got burned, later i sampled a few takle outs and have been a fan since. Firstly they are super crowed on friday/sat as they have a regulat clients. They are a little low on the hot spice so they cater well to the American Chineese crowd ( larger client base). Here are some classics that you MUSt try there. 1. The veg/pork steamed dumplings with spicy seseme sause ( awsome) 2. The Veg wonton soup ( not many other places have this --- they give you a larger sized bown for take out). The other dishes like Hot Pot, mango chicken, chicken with cashews are well above average, I have been eating for 10+ years and definitly recommend this place. Meemah has got to be my top place to grab chinese food in Edison. Its fast, its a barely on the pricey side but definitely affordable and definitely worth it. Their food is nothing short of delicious. Unfortunately the staff isnt the sweetest, but after going so often its almost part of the experience now!! Take out is just as great as dining in. I love the family style searving as well so I would suggest ordering for the table and sharing everything (which is the best way to go about eating anyways!) I recommend the sesame dumplings and the salt and pepper squid as my favorites on the menu. I've never eaten in at this place but I've taken out of here for about twenty years- as far back as I can remember. The food is very good and has an interesting taste to it. Certainly not authentic but definitely not the normal oily taste you get from take out food. It seems the cook has changed in the last few years because the food seems to all have a similar taste now. But it's still very good. Perhaps the best Chinese/Malaysian food in the area. Everything is cooked to order, everything is fresh made and everything is delicious, with just the right amount of seasoning. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive--if your main waiter isn't around, there is always someone else to come tend to you if you have a need. the portions are just right and I love that they use real chicken breast and not the pressed cardboard stuff some other places use. People might say that this price is a bit on the pricy side -and it is compared to your standard Chinese food place you'll find on every corner. But what sets Meemah's apart is the quality that goes into every dish and the service. I just wish this place delivered as it's on the other side of town. read more
