Over priced fuel, a 4 month wait for service (which brings us to the end of the heating season-April) will all be your for the taking. With so much competition out there it's really kind of hard to believe. Really, really hard to believe that this is the best they can do. I generally am a loyal consumer. Not the fly by night kind who changes a service provider like this often. It's way to much effort. I will wind up paying for my furnace tune up out of pocket in spite of the fact that I have the "gold" plan. I NEED to if I want a trouble free heating season. SHAME ON YOU GUYS. In short this company is deceptive and scam customers right off the bat. Their budget plans are all nice and dandy until you have to renew a year later. Without advising what you are walking into. They will require you pay the full balance left on your account at the end of the year or they will halt oil deliveries regardless of how cold you and your family are. They quoted us a decent price per month which we were able to sustain, but at the end of the contract year we had a left balance of $1000, I told them several times that we cannot afford to pay it all at once and while being juggled from one rep to the other for weeks, I eventually reached a Credit Manager named Reeba. She was rude and unhelpful, she talked to me like I was a piece of trash and eventually told me that she is not going to answer anything I say and that she is waiting for me to end the call. They did not inform me that this will happen at the end of the year, I was under the impression that as long as I was a customer I will keep paying monthly payments that will offset in the summer when the usage was lower, which is what I was advised at sign up. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I HAVE YET TO SPEAK TO ANY CURRENT OR PAST CUSTOMER THAT HAS NOT BEEN SCAMMED BY THEM. read more

WARNING Stay away from Meenan Oil. They are the worst! Their per gallon oil prices are consistently higher than any others. I tried them with and without a price fixed contract.They are always rescheduling the service to the heater which is supposed to be covered by the costly service contract. Most recently they didnt even show up or call to reschedule. If you dont want to be over charged then take my advice and look elsewhere for oil and HVAC services. My contract ended on 11/30/2015 and I called them that I do not want to renew the contract on 11/28/2015. On 12/21/2015 I got a letter in mail saying that I need to pay a $399 early termination fee because I called to cancel before the contract ends! Updated: on 12/31 Meenan Oil called me and explain the confusion and adjusted the billing. I am satisfied witht the result. I have been with Meenan Oil for almost 10 years. They have always been there for my needs. Tonight they did it again I called for a no hot water service call at 5:45pm first the representative that took my call was very professional and personable. I was advised the technician would arrive between 7pm-10pm. Not to shabby I thought then to my surprise the technician arrived at 6:45pm. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He had our hot water back up and running within 30 minutes. Still a very happy customer. read more

Terrible customer service. I am a platinum plan customer. In the beginning of December they said our oil tank was unsafe and forced us onto a 55 gallon drum, the only issue was their company could not place a new tank until January 8th due to schedules. I was assured by meenan that since we are on automatic delivery our drum would be continuously topped off during this time. Low and behold our heater locks out today around 4 and no one can come for service until between 930-1230 tonight. When the tech comes the issue is we are out of oil. Meenan let our drum run out!! What a joke! Run from this company fast, they'll gladly take your money but let your family freeze even though it is their fault! Disgusting and shameful! I even told them I have two little ones in the house and they still wouldn't expedite the call! read more

their driver was so wasted he came and filled our tank up, when we weren't even customer for well over 10 years, then meenan tried to strong arm us into paying for the load, told them to come and suck it out, never ordered and not paying ( state law forbids recapture of despensed oil ) so they were out the load, it turns out there was so much gunk in that load i still had to have my tank flushed because it gummed up everything in our system, i firmly believe their tank farm is rusty internally and this is why this stuff happens constantly, stay away fro meenan and sister company petro in southampton pa, both owned by star oil out of canada, boo on you ! read more

I was surprised to see all of the negative reviews on Yelp for Meenan, as I've had nothing but great experiences with them. The Customer Service reps (especially Darlene) are great, and the service technicians have been extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and prompt. If I could not give any stars I would. MEENAN IS THE WORST COMPANY EVER!!! They let me run out of oil in the middle of winter and I was on automatic delivery! Their oil is overpriced! And they were out to fix the SAME problem three times and NEVER FIXED it. I was so fed up I cancelled them and had my new oil company fix it....which they did....the first time! Easily one of the worst companies in existence. Do NOT use them for your oil heating needs! Listen to the reviews on here and Google; the reviews are exceptionally bad for a reason. For one, they sell oil at the most expensive price among any of their competitors. I had a fuel oil bill a couple of months ago that was $800+ for just one month, and I came to find they were charging almost $3.70+ a gallon at that time, whilst their competitors (Bucks County Fuel Oil, Patriot HVAC, JC Heating and Cooling, etc.), were charging around $2.60 maximum per gallon. Also, I needed my oil burner cleaned, and they wanted $726 for it. I kid you not... $726. I called every other company that services my town and the range I got was $150 to $290 MAXIMUM. Not a single competitor was charging even half of what they were charging at maximum (again, Patriot HVAC, Horizon Services, etc.). They stated that this is a flat rate that they charge to clean ANY boiler, so a person with a 6,000 sq ft home with a much larger boiler will be paying the same price as me with a 1,600 sq ft home with a much smaller boiler. I will be doing my absolute best to convince people not to use this company and to make the switch so that their wallets can thank them! By the way, their "contracts" are something like $490 yearly AT THE CHEAPEST TIER, again, when competitors' contracts maxed out at about $300 yearly altogether when I called around. Not to mention their staff is in unknowledgeable and I called just to ask for the price of a fuel pump replacement. They transferred me back and forth from sales to service about 3x and then told me they couldn't give a price over the phone and that someone would need to come out and look at it. When I asked for a ballpark, they said they'd transfer me to a "supervisor" and my call was "dropped" during the transfer. Forget the horrible customer service, their prices alone should be enough to make you absolutely run away! If you are using this company for your fuel oil needs and you are in Bucks County, PLEASE RUN FAST! Nearly any competitor of theirs that you go with will save you thousands per year! I am hoping that as I speak to more homeowners among my family and friends, I can bring my insanely high bills to their attention and convince them to make the switch from Meenan to pretty much ANY other company. read more

I moved to Collegeville this summer. Furnace has a May 2016 Meenan service label on it, so this week (Jan 10, 2016) I called them to set up oil supply and service. Was told the "sales person" was on the phone and would call me back. Two days have passed with no call. Okay, I was a customer for over 26 yrs. with Meenan with a platinum contract. When we needed a new heating system, they were higher for the same system another co. installed, plus they couldn't do it for 3 months, the other co. did it in 1 week. Now I cancelled all service with Meenan, and lo and behold they did a delivery without my permission, plus the rate was 69 cents more a gal. I couldn't have the other co. deliver until I needed 150, so Meenan jumped the gun and delivered. After an hour on the phone with no satisfaction, I filed a police rpt that they delivered without my permission and now have to go to district court over the price difference. Love how you get the contract floating ceiling and caped at 4,12 funny how every delviery it happens to be 4.12 that day they are the BIGGEST RIP-OFF and this will be my last year with them and yes there service BLOWS to comes out to service oil burner and forgot to say as he was jamming the poker in there that he broke the chamber as the PUFF back came threw the whole house and what a mess that was, last year for them, they are a gallon plus some more then any other company around here, and funny they all get there oil from Meenan to deliver to everyone else? We have been clients of Meenan oil for 5 years. Each year we have become increasingly disappointed with their service. Technicians are not friendly and always act as if we are an inconvenience. Our boiler has been down twice this week. Second instance, they gave us a 12-14hr window even after describing that our son has pneumonia, that I'm 9 months pregnant, and forecast is 16degrees. Will be switching next year. I do not recommend. They amount of money that we pay them is not worth service. read more

Terrible company, terrible experience, STAY AWAY. So many issues with them... For example, I've had a service contract on our boiler with them for two years, both years they've pushed back on actually coming to inspect the boiler. When they did the first year they didn't actually clean/replace any of the filters, so the boiler went down in the middle of the first winter. In the second winter they did such a cursory job of inspection they screwed up the feed line to the boiler so that I had to pay $300 to fix it. Their oil prices are easily $0.25 to $0.50 more than competitors. I've never been able to log in to the website to view my account because they never gave me an account number that could actually work with their site. In May I told them to close my account, they apparently never did, because this week I got another bill for a $300 service agreement. I called them to tell me close the account a second time, and then to confirm called a few days later - still no record of the request!!! STAY AWAY FROM MEENAN. read more

The customer service is good however when we really need them no eta just 24 hour window. Weeks ago the driver did not have enough oil to fill our tank. Thinking they would be back to top off. Yesterday oil ran out of tank csr told us to trickle water from faucets so pipes won't freeze. As of 8 am today still no heat oil. I call and no eta still in window period. I did set up service on our heater too and am told first appt is June! Why are we paying extra for this with the gold member plan when they don't come out anyway. read more

Check your heating oil bills you might be surprised, I was. If you use Budd Oil, Region Oil or any of the other Meehan owned companies and have automatic deliver set up you will find you are paying close to a one dollar more per gallon, then the Cash On Delivery (COD) cost. If like most you probably also have a service plan like me which I pay and additional $350.00 per year for to address furnace issues. I assumed that being a customer of Budd Oil for 6 years that I would be treated as a valued customer, instead I'm being gauged on every gallon they deliver. I figured that I'm being charged up to $1200 a year above what I pay for the service plan. The larger issue is they are being deceptive to customers with auto delivery by increasing the price per gallon arbitrarily, knowing most customers won't research what the real price of oil is on that day of delivery... Look into Budd oil, Region oil, Christy Halsey, and others they are now all owned by Meenan. Meenan and Petro are both owned by the publicly traded company Star GasPartners LLP. I'm not sure how regulators allowed Star Gas to make these acquisitions which has created a near monopoly in New Jersey and other states. Star Gas had a $6.00 stock price a year ago and is now at $3.85 which may be the reason for them pressuring their businesses to extract every last dollar from their customers..... All the companies have different telephone numbers but are all answered by same people (call center). I had my tank filled up twice and called Bud oil after each fill up pretending to be a new customer wanting the COD (don't use the phone number on the account as they have caller Id that links it directly to your account). They offered me their affiliated company ( I think the name was Suffolk oil) and the price quoted was 3.54 per gallon, they had just charged me 4.59 a day earlier. Both my recent fill-ups were at least one dollar more than the COD price! Over 25% premium. Keep in mind other oil companies are making money on COD prices, can you imagine how much Meenan (Star Gas ) is making by charging its loyal customers a 25% premium... I told them charging a dollar per gallon was taken advantage of customers and boarder lined fraud. They told me the extra cost is for them to run the program that tells them when you need to be filled up again. Really, how hard is it to figure that out - there is an App for that and they have 6 years of my data. They said the increase also covers people and staff for the 24hr response etc...I said I'm already paying for a $350.00 for a service plan and if I calculate my last two deliveries I paid an additional $500.00 over the cash price....which means based on a year of deliveries I could be paying close to an extra $1200.00 a year (100.00 a month) more for what ..somebody to figure out when to fill up my tank and come out when I have a problem. She then asks me what I think is a fair cost for those services. I said I don't know you tell me what it costs to run those services for all your customers as I would be willing to pay a flat rate upfront for both a service contract and automatic delivery - but then I want the COD price for oil ... just tell me what it costs so I can make a decision. They won't give you a price because that eliminates their ability to charge whatever they want per gallon without the customer knowing. They offered me a credit on my next fill up of 25.00! I overpaid by 500.00 and they offered me 25.00... Budd oil used to be a good responsible company with great local people and service until Meenan / Star Gas changed their business model. Obviously, the overarching leadership of StarGas-Meehan doesn't understand customer loyalty and the impact it can have when you violate and disregard that trust. This company is horrible do not use them oil deliveries are late. Truck drivers are incompetent. Cannot restart burners. They will leave you out in the cold. Gave them thousands of dollars to make sure we get our automatic deliveries and they couldn't even do that right. I've got frozen pipes busted radiators. Which are not cheap to replace and took me a year to find. Year 2 I'm writing this now with no oil after advising them I'm about to run out three days ago and all they say is we figure you have an eighth of a tank. It's 3 degrees outside feels like minus -16 and they say we'll be there in a 24 hour window. Oh yea they advise you to run your water which cost money. Electric bill is rising cause were using space heaters. I hate meenan and now I get it find someone else or better yet be smart and convert to gas. read more

We used Meenan MANY years ago. They let us run out of oil on more than one occasion. They condemned one of our tanks and installed another which they linked into the existing line with a valve. The next day they had someone come by unannounced; they broke into our cellar to "check" on the valve. They smashed up our newly installed dryer hoses and ended up bumping the valve open anyway. Oil leaked into our well access area, and they had to come clean it up and cut up and remove the old tank. We are no longer with Meenan and will NEVER go back there again. My in-laws are still with Meenan. They are in their 80's and Meenan has let them run out of oil NUMEROUS times. They spent most of the day today waiting for a repair person because the heater didn't come on (it was about 45 or so most of the day.) FInally at 10pm the heater guy shows up. My father in-law had been waiting to go to bed since 8pm. After 2 hours he finally discovered they were out of oil. Ok so why was that not the first thing that was checked when they called for service????? The last time they had oil delivered was in March. My father in-law has a heart condition and spent most of the day stressed about not having heat and when was the heater guy gonna show. They called at 11am and had to wait 11 hours for service.
