I was surprised there were only a few people who stopped by the restaurant during the hour I visited with my cousin. Maybe they are more crowded in the evening as they have food items as well. We stopped in for a shaved ice and it was incredible! I love that this is an authentic Taiwanese shop. The shaved ice was as authentic as I hoped - with condensed milk and a pillowy, snowy texture. Loved the red bean that came with the shaved ice. But, I was really sad they were out of the seasonal fruit varieties which I prefer, so I didn't get to try any mango or strawberry. They say this is a seasonal choice... they should not make this available if mangoes are not ripe and shaved ice are chunky. Not bad. The teas here are super super sweet though. I tried 100% one time and it was sickly over sweet. The 50% already is very sweet. We've tried the mango tea and several milk teas here. I wouldn't recommend 100% sugar level unless you really really like a lot of sugar. The egg waffle is really good, even plain. It's perfectly warm and crunchy but soft inside. It's not too sweet either which goes well with a drink that was overly sweet! Order at the front counter and get a table buzzer. When the buzzer goes off, you can go get your items. I've been dreaming of their desserts since I've tried them at another location in Chicago in 2018. Five years later, I find out they have a location in Atlanta and I was overjoyed!!! I was in the area and decided to go there as I was craving their shaved ice dessert. It's a Taiwanese shaved iced dessert place that have lots of shaved ice and other desserts options with like taro, grass jelly, fruit, pudding, mochi, milk tea, bubble waffles, ice cream, etc. Service was decent. I feel that they could have been a little more friendlier but it's fine. The shop was clean, lots of room, plenty of tables and booths, and very bright. I ordered the traditional shaved iced dessert that came with an assortment of toppings like sesame mochi balls, taro mochi balls, tapioca, taro paste etc. It wasn't as good as the one in Chicago. The dessert wasn't as flavorful without the taro paste mixed in but I did enjoy the sesame mochi balls! They were delicious! They forgot to give me a creamer for my dessert and I asked for some and they only gave me one. One is not enough for the entire dessert. Also, they gave me a dirty spoon. Which was not a big deal for me but there was huge chunk of watermelon on one of the spoons. I would give the dessert a 6.5/10. The price point was good for portion size of the dessert! Again, it just didn't hit the same way as it did back then. This is not an overly sweet dessert so don't expect it to be. The presentation of my dessert could have been better, it felt as if they rushed in making it. But I saw other shaved iced desserts that I wanted to try next time! I was curious in regards to the other desserts that I saw other customers eating as some of them looked pretty delicious! Chocolate bubble waffle: 7/10: it's pretty pricey for just the waffle itself. It doesn't come with ice cream or toppings unless you do the deluxe waffle but my friend paid like $7+ just for the waffle itself. The waffle was a decent size but not for that price. The flavor was really good and we loved how each of the waffle ball had a nice coating of chocolate inside that melts in your mouth. Kind of like a lava cake kind of feel! It did take a while for my friend to get her bubble waffle though. Overall, I would come back to try other desserts on their menu. I would get something else as I was not impressed with my dessert. I was craving boba & saw this spot next to the big H-mart. I ordered the Black Sugar Boba Milk Tea, after you order they give you a buzzer for when your order is ready. Really? I understand cost of food is high these days but the icy grass jelly bowls are over $10 each and you can't provide a little extra syrup?!?! I used to encounter no problems when asking for this, so I'm wondering if it's just a problem with this specific manager. Either way, this put a bad taste in my mouth. Also they don't allow any substitutions nowadays - not a fan of this rule either. Food - flavor is good but they're being too stingy with the quantity, considering the cost. I get we're not in Taiwan and things would understandably be pricier here, but for 4-5x the cost of what this would be in Taiwan, I feel it's just crazy to be so stingy and not fill up the bowls. And of course, see last paragraph re: syrup. Ambience - fine. Can get crowded but not too bad. Overall clean. Wish I could give this establishment more stars, because I'm proud to be Taiwanese and want to support Taiwanese businesses, but not after my experience today. My sister-in-law suggested that my brother take me to this place. In the Taiwanese Community, when we see things that are related to our heritage, we support it as any other cultures that you grew up in, would. So you can guess how much I missed having shaved ice, street foods like beef noodle soup, rice in a barrel, Chinese donut, sweet soybean milk, xiao long bao, stinky tofu, and oyster omelet. Living in Dawsonville (North Georgia) is not easy, lol. I am adjusting okay and appreciating the friendliness of the Southern people that I meet, as I am continue to grow as a person too. The drive to these type of restaurants are always worth it. Need to be surrounded by different people badly, lol. I went to the location in Cupertino, CA as well. Both location are pretty much the same. Except the price in Georgia is cheaper and a lot more reasonable. They actually have a printed menu instead of staring at you from the Cupertino location and telling you to go and "talk to a digital computer" to make your order. I wasn't impressed about having to strictly order online and making you wait forever at peak hours, so beware of this (normally after lunch). I wanted to particularly write about the price, because I almost ordered a dessert that came out to be $20 at a "none classy restaurant." That is ludicrous. Perhaps, the young people who live or work in Cupertino can afford a tiny little Q-Mochi for $1 a piece. To me, that is absolutely a rip off. Yup, I said it. $1 should consist of at least 5 mochi balls and not just one. It's 50 cents in Georgia for a Q-Mochi. Yeah, doesn't fly with me. Each single little tiny balls of any sort should just be 25 cents. In conclusion, I do love very bite of anything that I ordered from this place, just a bit costly in my opinion. All of the ingredients as you can see are not very expensive and super healthy than other desserts that are available out there. The culture of shave ice is dying. I hope more location will focus on providing this dessert since it's way healthier than an ice cream cone. Lastly, be kind to people who don't speak Chinese that well. With our group of 6, we ordered the Icy Taro Ball Signature and a large Black Sugar Boba Milky Shaved Ice. I paid around $27 after tip and tax I think. Icy Taro Ball Signature wasn't my favorite as the toppings weren't my cup of tea, but the Black Sugar Boba hit the spot and I don't even care for boba really.
