I had high expectations from what people had said and then, after reading people's reviews, my expectations dropped and I wasn't sure what to expect. After my visit, I was completely thrilled. Loved it. Absolutely loved it. It was busy and we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. They text you when you table is ready so you can go walk along the street rather than just stand around and wait. The atmosphere was great - busy, funky decor. Service great. Our waiter even messed up our order but got it fixed and handled it really well. I had never been there and he was very helpful with the menu with NO upsell which is always great. I wish I had got his name as he is worthy of a mention. Food also great. I had the mac and cheese and it would certainly cure your craving for good old mac and cheese comfort food. I am not vegan and I loved it. Would definitely have this again. My friend had the portobello burger with fries and salad. Apparently the 'feta' on it tasted exactly like feta. For dessert she had the lemon tart and I had the cheesecake and again, a totally satisfying dessert - for a non vegan, I could have it again and it would cure any cheesecake craving. I love to drop into places and dine all by myself. It's my "me" time to pause and think and remunerate about stuff. Nothing heavy, just stuff randomly sifted through my noggin. And when I was in this area, I finally dropped into the Meet on Main after numerous attempts to get my friends and family to come here. I really like this place. Great salads and of course the first time I had the ANGRY BURGER, I was blown away. I could've done away with the bun cause wheat stuff just gets me dizzy. Other than that, I was in love with the burger and the salad and fries. So that day, it was 5 stars. Good service and food. When I brought my mom, it was a different story. I tried to hard to get her to like it. She doesn't like anything I like which really saddens me. There was still some light at the end of the tunnel and she enjoyed her soup. That she liked. Me? I had the Beet salad of which there are an abundance of pics posted to Yelp. Yes, It was very good. I can see the reason why so many pics. House Chili was very good and the Chili Cauliflower was not too bad. Not quite my thing, as I'm not into that sweet glaze stuff. Mom did seem to enjoy it though. Things to try next time? Organic Steam Kale and the Hot Chiggin Ceaser. Oh! and I did have some Mac n Cheese. Yeah, I liked that too. First time at a vegan (I think?) restaurant! After watching a Netflix movie about meat I decided to try to incorporate some vegan meals in my lifestyle. I was afraid that it would taste like grass but to my surprise my meal tasted like a real burger! I am a regular burger eater (LOL) so I do know how they taste.. and it tastes just like it! The bacon had the same bacon taste to it as well. Fries were delicious but I'm sitting here unable to move from finishing my burger too fast (agh, food coma @___@)The salad was refreshing with just the right amount of dressing. I can see where other reviewers might say the meal is a bit too heavy - keep in mind this is a double bacon burger with fries. If you want something lighter, the salad bowls look pretty good! Atmosphere is fun but chill. My server was also friendly from the moment I stepped in, always checked up on me, she also recommended the meal I ordered. Wow. My vegetarian friend and I (a non-vegetarian) loved this place. We shared the poutine with kimchi as an appetizer, which was just as good as any meat version, although I don't love that cashew cheez doesn't melt the way that regular poutine curds would. For dinner, I had the bacon cheez burger, which was good. It was a little "too much" - there was a lot of sauce and the textures were all pretty soft. I'd love to see something added to make the texture of the dish less mushy and less consistent throughout. The salad that came as the side was tasty but really basic, consisting mostly of green lettuce and shredded beets and carrots. My friend ordered the mac and cheez and said it was really good, but very filling. The drinks were on point - I ordered the pineapple basil smash and my friend had the mojito. Both were really yummy and hand crafted (not using store bought brightly coloured syrups). We also found that there were a ton of wait staff - we couldn't figure out who was actually assigned to our table. That said, the service was very good and we liked all 3 of our waiters :) Why not 5 stars? Well, the mushy burger wasn't quite there for me (tasted good, texture was too much), but what really brought it down to 4 stars was that there were fruit flies on the walls and flying around. I feel like I complain about this with a lot of restaurants, so I understand that this must be a tough pest to control. Heck, at home in the summertime the fruit flies are quite the nuisance! MeeT's menu is always great. One of the best casual vegetarian joints in town. The fries are to die for. It's so hard to choose a healthy option when you have those things staring at you in the menu. The poutines. SO. GOOD. Miso cashew gravy on them is delicious. The Not-cho Fries are seriously scrumptious. The appies like their chikkin or their caulifower bites... also great. This all said... I definitely prefer the Gastown location over the Main location. The Main St staff are not as friendly, and are definitely not as attentive. The chikkin is actually a decent approximation of chicken and quite tasty when coupled with the curry and salsa, but I admit it is still missing something and can't quite fully substitute real meat. I was also hungry again less than an hour later. Still though, being the sort of inherently biased person who (full disclosure) automatically views any meatless meal with suspicion, I actually thoroughly enjoyed this for what it was and would be happy to return. Their burgers come with a huge serving of fries. Most of their dishes can be made gluten-free. They have a decent selection of non-alcoholic drinks unlike most of the places in Vancouver. There happy hour menu is pretty good too but mind you it's only from 3 to 5 . They sell their custom t-shirts and caps too. I've been here a handful of times since they opened. I recently went with my partner for a quick late night dinner. We walked in to find two of the employees deep in conversation right by the front door, one of them with a jug of water in hand. Neither of them turned to acknowledge us so we decided to see how long it would take for them to notice us. A few minutes of waiting and the busser notices us, looks us up and down and turns back to the hostess to carry on with their conversation. A few more minutes and the hostess finally decides to turn her head towards the door and notices us two waiting to get seated. She says a few things to the other girl, slowly grabs some menus and then finally acknowledges us. We sat down and are both gobsmacked by perhaps the rudest customer service experienced in 2018 for either of us. It was literally impressive how rude they were. Our server sat and leaned up against the vacant table next to us when she took our order. Didn't realize tables were a place for servers to park their lazy, rude asses. I get it, it's Main St. Hipsters are too cool to provide decent customer service and are doing me a huge favour for seating me and taking my order. But this time it was over the top. As an owner of multiple restaurants it had me grateful to have friendly staff. If these employees worked at my joint, I would have fired them on the spot. Too bad I'm done with Meet after this experience. It's unfortunate when it's a crummy experience with an employee that has a customer no longer willing to go back. read more

Comfort food without the comfort.... Since coming to Vancouver in March, Meet has been a staple place to visit for my fiancé and I and we always loved the service, food and atmosphere that Meet had to offer unfortunately, it's changed. Meet has gotten very popular and as a result you wait 45 minutes for a table and then you are rushed in and rushed out as quickly as possible, with severs trying to take your plates away whilst you're still eating from them. The starters and mains came out together even though we ordered separately?! Overall the food is still tasty but it lacks something that it use to have, care and attention and an overall feeling of people giving a sh*t. The highlight of my meal was a pineapple basil gin cocktail. I ordered a Seoul Bowl, which was tasty but a little bit more... moist than expected. I stole fries from my friends and they were wonderfully crispy. I count calories and macros, and I wish I had access to nutrition information or at least knew what the veggie chicken was made out of. Went here without realizing this was a vegan restaurant. Only found out about that about 1/3 into my meal when I overhear a waiter telling another table nearby that "everything here is vegan." I was absolutely shocked because I really could not tell. The food is just THAT GOOD. I ordered the Butter Chikkin and it was AMAZING. My girlfriend and our friends ordered the Double Double burger, which was okay but absolutely paled in comparison to the Butter Chikkin. I would absolutely make the drive to this restaurant from Seattle just for the Butter Chikkin alone. Service was prompt and extremely friendly and helpful. It's taken me way too long to review this place! I've eaten in-house twice over the past year, and ordered takeout from here countless times. I usually get the macaroni and cheese with the added 'sausage,' and damn it's so good! That said, I've ordered quite a few things off their menu and I've been impressed with everything. They don't skimp out on flavour! When we ate in, the service was great, too! The waitress was friendly and not intrusive. When it's safe to do so, we'll definitely be back. I would give it a 3.5...i agree with some of the other reviews about the fries- they were too greasy. The beet salad fell flat. There's something missing in the combination of flavors - ingredients are fresh and there is a variety, but I think it's the balance that needs to be re- assessed. For example, I did not see any zucchini and needed a better kale:romaine ratio. The whiskey bbq things were a bit on the salty side, but tasty overall. I had the meet burger and this was great. But, please don't put the onion rings inside the burger .. Or make it explicit in the menu that it is treated as a topping. It became too soggy from the heat of the burger and fell flat. read more

I used love MeeT on Main. I order MeeT via door dash every Saturday. I am noticing the quality of the food is going downhill from the Main Street location. My friend and I ordered the Crispy BBQ Burger. Hands down this is a very delicious burger mouth watering and you can't tell it is vegan. The burger this time came so spicy that it caused heart burn and I had to stop eating it. My friend also commented and asked me why so spicy. The box the burger came in had bbq crispy burger written on it. The previous burgers I have had were never this spicy. Oyster mushroom Kalamari is great appie to order. We highly recommend this dish. Meet on Main is one of those spots that can bring vegans and omnivores together to co-exist in harmony. I would know - I was introduced to this place (as a meat-eater) by a close, vegan friend who convinced me that a meal sans meat could be equally soulful and satisfying. We came in on a Saturday for lunch and it was busy, but luckily it was only a 10 min wait. Right away I noticed the pixelated bead art hanging on the walls and the inner RPG nerd in me was enamoured by the ones that were made to look like the main characters from Chrono Trigger. I love the funky, hipster vibe to this place. I can tell a lot of creativity was at play in building their menu; every single item is vegan AND gluten free, yet somehow their selection doesn't seem at all restricted by its ingredients. I wanted to try EVERYTHING! I did settle and chose to get "The Main" burger, which comes with fries AND salad. What a deal. 1) The Main Burger 9/10 For a burger that has no meat, the patty was super satisfying - meaty, moist, and juicy with a nice garlic smokiness. I loved the tang of the pickle, and their sauce tasted exactly like real mayo and added creaminess to the burger. The bun was also fluffy and perfectly toasted. 2) Fries 10/10 These fries were seriously some of the best I've ever had. Super crispy, fresh, with the skin still on. I would come back for these alone (maybe try their poutines) and ALONE so I can have them all to myself. 3) Salad 5/10 Although I appreciated that the meal came with the salad, it really needs some work. It had a good texture from the kale and it was definitely flavourful from the garlic and herbs added to it, but the tartness from the dressing was overpowering - especially near the bottom of my salad where it was more concentrated. It needs some nuttiness to balance everything out. Service was pleasant, lots of smiles all around. I can tell that the employees enjoy working here! It was pretty loud so if you're not a late morning person (or someone recovering from a crazy night), this might not be the place for you. If you're driving, there's also a lot of free residential parking you can find a block or two away from Main St. I will definitely be back! read more

I'm not a big fan of shared seating with people I don't know, but it seems like without a big group there is very little choice at this restaurant. The burgers we ordered were delicious, but the fries seemed a little stale and not so great. The salad was fresh but was nothing amazing. I'd only come back if I get a huge craving for their burgers but will probably only get take out. Great service and real comfort food, to the extent where if you weren't paying attention, you might not know it is a vegetarian restaurant - and that is the way I like it. The burgers are easily as good as meat, just different, awesome bowls, and the fries top my city list... just awesome (kind of an upgraded Whitespot fry). As Garry C. perfectly stated this place = vegan comfort food! To me it feels like a kinder style of Burgoo. I really like the casual wood cabin, variety store feel - it's comfortable. I do wish they had better chairs though. The vegan Caesar cocktail is pretty good, just needs a little something more for me - but it was a good try. The hot chiggin things were awesome - completely finished that craving. The French fries and side of cashew gravy was also awesome, almost finished that craving.... I wonder if you can get vegan cheese curds...? Those French fries are awesome though, highly recommend. The steamed Kale with gravy on the side was great and reasonably priced. Four female cousins got together for lunch today and we went to Meet on Main Street. We had to strong arm one of the participants as she wasn't keen on "veg" only food. She was soon won over! Another meatless Monday! There's a new feature: "Ish" tacos...wow!!! This was super good. The "ish" is tofu wrapped in nori and deep fried. The nori added an ocean smell and taste to create a fish flavour. Loved the mints and lime in the slaw that topped the taco, too. Really hope this one makes it on to the regular menu ; ) Tonight we arrived at 6:30ish, about an hour before our norm, and there was no wait for a table. My husband and I were in Vancouver on vacation last week and I stopped in Nice Shoes to get, well, shoes! Had a good chat with one of the owners (Joanne) and she recommended a bunch of good vegan spots to eat, including this one, which I hadn't heard about since I'm only in YVR about once a year. Anyway! We made a point of going after checking out the menu online and deciding we had to eat here. We ordered the nacho fries to share. These rival the nacho fries at one of our favourite places in Toronto, Hogtown Vegan. Vegan cheese was super tasty. My husband ordered the Angry Burg as his main and I got the 'Ish and Chips. Both were amazing. Vegan tartar sauce was super good, fries crispy and delicious, burger was appropriately messy with a nice little bite to the sauce. This was our last sit down meal while visiting Vancouver. They are located on the way out of town, towards the border, which made them a convenient choice. Parking was easy during the lunch hour we visited. We waked in here after mistaking the corner restaurant down the street, called The Main, for this place. HUGE mistake! Besides being a VEGAN restaurant, Meet on Main had way better energy. It had a Portland/Brooklyn vibe about it; exposed beams, reclaimed wood, funky art and decor. The hostess sat us and took our drink orders Since this was the last lunch, we made it count. We ordered... Appetizers: CORN FRITTERS! We loved these little guys. (They're similar to hush puppies) Served with a spicy chipotle mayo dip. The Artichoke and Spinach Dip was really good. They did an outstanding job replicating the original non-vegan recipe. We don't have this dip anywhere in Portland, and were so happy to taste this favor profile again. Burgers & Fries: I ordered the Double Bacon-Double Cheez Burger: coconut bacon, seitan bacon,chao cheez & queso My husband ordered the Southern BBQ Burger: whisky bbq sauce,2 crispy onion rings and aged cashew-cheddar cheez. The food that we ordered might be of the slightly unhealthy variety, but the servers looked anything but. They were fresh faced, relaxed people. Service was prompt. We enjoyed every bite, the fritters were our favorite item. We ordered two of The Main burgers to go, as we need lunch for the next day. They held up well. Was here for dinner yesterday. Was originally planning to go to another establishment nearby instead, but did not want to wait, so ended up here. I had the grilled cheese kale walnut pesto. Definitely a first for me having a grilled cheese with all that. As much of a carnivore I am, this grilled cheese was delicious. Also ordered the "hocus-pocus" with is basically fries and onion rings with dip. Wasn't too special, but the dips compliment the dish well. All in all the food is definitely well above average. Apparently they are known to be vegan friendly. I would actually give 3.75 stars because the service, while friendly, could have been more attentive. I also had a similar experience last time I was here, below average service but delicious food. I wouldn't come out of my way to come here, but depending what you're feeling like, this would be a decent option. But anyway the 3.75 stars rounds up to a 4 star rating. read more
