I thought this place was decent. The service was okay but nothing out of the ordinary. The food was good but I wasn't impressed with the lunch dine-out menu. The ambiance is casual and more like a diner than what I convey a Greek food eatery looking like. The portions of the food were good. I have to say that the souvlaki lamb plate with one skewer is filling and enough for one. I feel ordering two would have been a stretch. The dine-out menu for lunch was disappointing as there was no dessert included and it was just a bit of an uncharge for one more skewer. As a result, it had disuaded me from going for it. While other parts of the platter was fine the rice was underwhelming and not good. I'd prefer more potatoes instead as it was not so great. I might be back for another lunch if I happen to be in the neighborhood. read more

Stopped by mid week around 6, so just missed the Happy Hour specials. Secured a seat on their patio which was perfect as in the shade with a light breeze. Opted for the burger and fries with a Fat Tug (IPA). Burger, fries and the beer were all great. There was no issue with the service and this was a much more positive experience than my last visit several months previous. read more

My gf and I both had the Burger and Fries with the DreamWorks Cider. The burger was tasty. The qualify the lettuce and tomato were excellent. The burger patty were nice and juicy with good flavour. The fries are the ones that it seems like they might have a thin batter on them? Similar to Cavendish at Costco. Super crispy and tasty. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. read more

We hosted our family Christmas event at the Main. (Many of us are getting too old to cook for 25 people.) We used the back room and it was PERFECT for us to do a little talent show without bothering the rest of the patrons. The setting was casual enough for us all to feel relaxed. Arrived around 8:30pm for a late dinner, with most places along this stretch of Main starting to wind down service for the evening. It's your typical neighbourhood watering hole. The place was clean floor to ceiling; bathrooms looked good, though there seems to be an issue with the soap dispenser. Their interpretation of a club sandwich was... interesting(?), and though the sandwich itself was tasty, it was basically just a grilled chicken BLT cut in half. No middle slice of bread, not cut into quarters. Not a bad sandwich, just had a different mental image than what arrived at the table. The service, meanwhile, left a bit to be desired. Attention to tables seemed sporadic, with people seated at the bar getting 95% of the attention. It felt like the servers were sort of phoning it in, for lack of a better term. It's great that there are late-night options for the locals, especially something that stays open til/past midnight throughout the week. With late-night happy hour specials, it's easy to see why a place like this lasts through the years. But unless I was desperate for a cheap beer, I'd probably look around. Maybe one of the worst pubs I've ever been to. It took a long time for a server to head over and take our order. Once our drink order was placed, server came back 2 more times to clarify it. Then we finally placed our food order. Spaghetti came out looking very strange. The noodles looked bare like the sauce hadn't been mixed in with it for very long and tasted strange as well. We also got a salad that was the size of a sauce dish and didn't have very many things in it. Poutine was hot and delicious though. We ended up asking for the spaghetti to be taken off the bill since it wasn't very good at all and the server explained that the cook forgot salt. Overall pricing wasn't very reasonable, especially for what we got. And service took a very long time for us to get things to our table. read more

We went here on the recommendation of a friend who said they served the biggest burgers he had ever seen, that he couldn't believe people would eat something that size. Intrigued, we had to go. We ordered (for takeout): - American Burger (Only the bacon really stood out; the burger was a good portion but not well-seasoned. Produce was not much. Bun was better than average.) - Chicken burger (meaty and fried crispy, but not well-seasoned) - the fries (tasty and abundant -- best part of the meal) - coleslaw (glad to have it, but this was tiny and not well-seasoned) This was plenty of food. But it was just good enough -- not really good. Value was so-so. At this price point, I think there are better choices. Second time I've been here in the last 4 months. The staff are way more interested in hanging out with a group of regulars than paying attention to anyone else in the place. We were seated and given menus, and then nobody came back for about 15 minutes. They could see us, but their frieds were at the big table, and they were all too busy chatting and visiting. The server finally comes over, and we order our drinks. I ordered house wine, and it's gone off. I call her back, and she replies, "That's odd. We just opened that one." She isn't happy about it but pours me a new one from a new bottle. This one is fine. We are trying to order food, but I'm celiac, so there isn't anything we can order that won't have cross contamination. The last time we were here, they offered to put the nachos in the oven so they wouldn't go in the fryer. This time, I ask if they can do the same, and she comes back telling me that the tortilla chips have flour in them! Did they lie last time, or are they lying now? Or, in a time when education and information about celiac, they've chosen to switch to non-gluten free tortilla chips to make sure they don't cater to people with celiac. Mind blowing! My partner had a wrap and didn't think it was very good, so I guess I'm not missing much. Between the bad food, terrible service, and lack of GF options, as we left the place, my partner just said, "That was an awful experience. The food was pretty good, but the service was horrible. It is one of the worst services in Vancouver. Waiter walking away, and I haven't finished asking for condiments. I came around 930 pm. with my son on June 20th, and like the others mentioned, she was more busy talking to her co-workers than checking in on customers. The Main restaurant located on Main Street and 27th Ave. It's neighborhood restaurant. They severed few Greek food but definitely not authentic. We came here for brunch on Sunday. They're not busy and we got seated after few mins waited. I realized only 1 waitress running around the entire restaurant. The waitress apologized for slow service due to her co-worker called in sick at last minute. Poor her. Inexpensive brunch for poor quality of food, it totally make sense. Haven't been the the Main in years because of a previous bad experience. I must say, the quality of food is fantastic and tasty, but the prices are a little too steep for the ambiance of this typical pub. We shared a 1/2 order of nachos ($11.95) with guacamole ($3.95) and chicken (3.95) and both enjoyed the Greek wrap ($15.95) with substituteGreek salad. The charge to sub for Greek salad alone was a whopping $3! I was totally okay with it until I saw the pinner portion of Greek Salad. The wrap itself was very fresh and tasty, but could have used a side of tzatziki. Just stick with fries because our $19 wrap with greek salad was too pricey. The nachos were good too, but needed more cheese and way more meat and guacamole for the up-charges! The ambiance is casual with dark wood tables and chair, half booths, dim lighting, and a good view of Main Street. Services was friendly and attentive! The happy hour is from 11:30-6 mon-fri, which I thought was awesome.... be a cheap drunken afternoon at the Main if you can do a basic beer or cheap house wine. read more

Came in on super busy Friday night and was greeted by Kolby. What a wonderful, kind, and attentive young man! We brought our four year old and Kolby provided us with a booster seat, and asked if we needed cutlery or a small plate for our son. The menu has changed since pre-Covid (not a surprise) but the food is still as memorable as it was! Husband got the Lamb platter and I got the small Greek salad with the half sized calamari. The lamb was perfectly roasted, moist, and tender. The salads were a bit salty for my taste. The calamari was hot out of the fryer and just the way I like it (not overly battered and over cooked)! A couple of us guys were in Friday, it was one of our first times here and we thought to change up our usual spot. However, we were very disappointed and neglected by the server Lauryn. She seemed to be too occupied talking to staff that we waited 15 minutes to receive our drinks, then she did bring them she brought us the wrong beers and didn't know which beer was which. When we asked her for food suggestions she seemed very vacant and seemed to hold a very negative energy, additionally she got our food order wrong with the platter. Came by to try some steak goodness. Parking isn't the best here. There are some metered and free spots along Main, as well as the side streets. The place has been around for a while, so things are a bit worn. With that said, it's still classy looking on the inside. The inside is decently sized. Staff were friendly, but they didn't come by too often. I had to physically go find the waitress. As an appetizer, they served bread. It looked like a random mix of pita and baguette slices. The steak I had was pretty decently cooked. A bit too cooked. My rare steak turned out to be medium-rare. My friend's steak also turned out overcooked as well. Dinged 1 star there. The baked potato was exactly as it sounded (no green onions or anything). The vegetables were cooke beans, carrots, onions, and broccoli. It didn't taste too bad, but the meal was almost $20. Tonight there was a meetup at The Main, and I decided to join them since I didn't have any plans and I enjoy meeting new people. The event started around 6pm, but because I went to an exercise class first (I just love Alicia's Bellyfit class!) and missed the bus, I arrived just before 8:30pm. The server came up to take my order moments after I had sat down, but I hadn't had a chance to look at the menu as I had just sat down, and there wasn't a menu within view. I requested a menu, and the menu that was given to me was STICKY. Since I was not ready to order, which seemed to annoy the server, she left, and I assumed that she would be back shortly after I had had a chance to look over the menu. Well, you know what they say about making assumptions... A full 15 minutes went by, and no sign of the server, not even to ask if I wanted a glass of water or to order a drink (which was yes to both). Thirsty, hungry, and mildly annoyed, I went to look for the server, as at this rate, I figured that by the time I got my food, most people in our group would have left, as they had gotten there earlier and had already eaten. I found the server and told her that I had been waiting for a long time to order, and that I was anxious to order soon, as I didn't want to be left eating alone. The server shoved her face inches away from my face and said in a very condescending tone, "Well, only ONE person in your group has paid so far, so you won't be eating alone. So what do you want to do?" Put off by her behaviour, I said, "You're very rude and I no longer want to order anything." Even though I was hungry and had been looking forward to a glass of wine (and at $5 a glass, to boot), I decided to save my money and not risk being stuck eating and drinking alone after everyone had left. (If it took over 15 minutes to order, who knows how long it would be to get my food.) I went back to the group and told the organizer about what had happened, and thus I would only be staying for a short time and not ordering anything. (The organizer told me that someone else had complained about the server, and that she would not be organizing another event there. In addition to everything, they had also lost our reservations.) About ten minutes later the server came by and asked me if I was going to order, and I told her no. I stayed and chatted for about half an hour (even though the evening was a bust, at least I had decent conversations with a couple of people), and thankfully I had a bottle of water in my purse, as I was quite thirsty. Usually I'm not one to dismiss a business based one one incident by one employee, but I was so turned off by the server's behaviour and attitude (as well as the STICKY menu) that I have no interest in ever returning. When I think of The Main, it's usually about their Greek menu. The usual satisfying staples and a few non Greek surprises, like PIZZA! And, who knew they had brunch?! One that includes a pretty decent eggs benny. And great drinks! The bar manager works some magic, whisking light and wonderment into seasonal concoctions. It's the beginning of June, 2020. We are in a state of pause in the COVID-19 pandemic. Some restaurants just opened. The servers at The Main are NOT wearing masks and are NOT respecting social distancing. This I learned after a meal there in which I felt entirely uncomfortable. The hummus was runny. But my main issue with The Main is that the staff did not respect social distancing and did not wear masks. Shame on them! I will never go back to The Main. No masks and it's a dump. read more

A great place to go for decent drinks from a selection of local brews. The food items in the menu are diverse and offer a great variation of choices. My go to choices are usually the calamari or roast lamb. I have tried the appetizers and they offer a good value also. Service is usually quite good without any complaints. read more

To me The Main has gotten better over the years. The Greek food here was always okay, but never the greatest. However, I was here for dinner last night and was pretty impressed. Not only was the food way better than I remember, but the service was excellent and overall the experience was really nice. All the dishes we ordered tasted really fresh and flavourful. In addition to the standard Greek menu items, they've also got pizza, pasta, etc. I should also mention for Happy Hour they had glasses of wine and draft beer for $4. You can't go wrong! read more

We popped in after the Canadians game today for a few quick drinks. The hostess/server prepped a table for us in a few minutes as we were a table of 5. One of our friends went to the front bar and ordered a round of pickle backs for the table as we all got settled and looked at the menus. The round was dropped off with no commentary from the server, and she immediately walked away without offering us any beverages or food. And then we waited. And waited. Multiple tables around us were being served, but we were treated as though we were invisible. There seemed to be a few servers, none of whom would even look our way. Have been going there for years and eating in is good, but take out is bad. Went in today and ordered pizza, poutine and wrap to go and Pizza and wrap was okay but poutine has hardly any gravy or any cheese curd, in fact I think it was mozzarella cheese. Walking down Main street I was a bit hungry. Walked by so many restaurants but not sure which one to go to. The Main Restaurant caught my eye so here we go! I got a rum and coke which is easy to make and casually looked at the menu. Not big or spectacular just regular North American food such as pizza, pasta and steak. Ordered the Rib Eye steak with potato and mixed greens. Medium rare is the way to go. It arrived to me perfectly except for the string beans. They were like those beef jerkys, hard to chew on and I had two string beans that were tough! The vegetable selection was fine but what could have made it better? How about using bok choy or even turnips. Like the idea they didn't resort to using frozen peas! Service was good. It's kinda strange seeing my first waitress and then another one took over. The first time I went, it was sort of busy but there were enough servers on. Each server was taking care of their section, however my server was nowhere to be seen until it came time to pay the bill and even then someone else had to do it for us. It has taken me a few months to write this because I am still stinging with anger and regret. I organized the rehearsal dinner for my BFF's wedding, and chose this restaurant because and they could promise me a private room and the couple loves Greek food. And what a room it was. I felt like we had been shunted into a glorified broom closet, complete with storage for cleaning supplies and half painted walls. The room was dimly lit, and every time we attempted to turn up the lights a micro-managing MEAN waitress would hurry in and dim them again with no explanation. She continued to do this even after AGREEING to allow us to turn up the lights so that the children could colour. ???? The food was atrocious. I mean, you all know I am an avowed foodie, but I can also eat anything. Uh uh. Not this. My calimari was a big mess of undercooked OILY batter with no flavour. Instead of crispy little rings or crunchy leggy bits (like at most Greek restos) the squid itself was tough and rubbery. It was accompanied by undercooked potatoes and what reminded me of an Uncle Ben's rice side dish. The appies were similarly disastrous, varying from bland and boring to actually laughable (no, for serious. I laughed at the hummus.) The worst, however, had to be Boyfriend's seafood marinara pasta, filled with what seemed to be week old mussels and shrimp that had not been de-veined, all reeking of unwashed genit... well, you get the picture. He valiently attempted to hoof it down, but even his limits were reached. He had an upset stomach for days as a result. :C This was not an isolated experience. Everyone at the table was unhappy, and so the servers eventually attempted to placate us by bringing out a bottle of white wine. Warm white wine. They then acted perturbed when we asked for an ice bucket to cool it down. Overall, we spent at least 1000 dollars on BAD food and strangely rude service. I will NEVER ever go back.
