My boyfriend went here for me and paid for a dozen of crabs with my EBT card this past Sunday on 2/23/25 between 12-3pm and now my card do not work and saying my PIN number is wrong and I need to speak w a case worker reallyyyy!!!!!! Fried fish is comforting. You know right? And if you're from The BX, BK, QNS, NYC, you'd know all about those fried fish spots from back in the day. You know which ones....the ones in the most ratchet hood block you could ever imagine. But when done right, that irresistible mixture of steamy, but crispy fried fish- takes it to the top. And that's where Mega is at. Steps away from the BX 27 bus and the 6 Morrison-Soundview train Station, Mega has been whipping out- not only fried fish combos but steamed as well where you select which veggies to add to your meal. Other side has a nice variety of self-served fresh fish- nothing too big- but good enough for the basics, where it's weighed. My mom specifically likes getting the fresh, but I like diving right in with the fried. I challenge you to name a better take out meal than fried fish served between 2 Wonder bread slices. Been coming here over 10 years and i always get friend food with food stamps. Today someone else behind charging people for food so they wont let me use my EBT to purchase fried food. So I guess it depends who working they won't let you get fried food. I also think because this place is ran by Mexicans that they are very prejudice towards black people and they will rush your food and have you leaving with half done food. read more

Meh There is not only a language barrier there is a communication barrier among employees. The place is not 100% tidy The fried fish looks very dry( cooked to order ) I asked if I can have fried whole belly clams the fry fish lady said yes the cashier said no. I had them steamed. Customer picks the Fish hands it to cashier pays then it goes to the cooks? They have a pressure steamer and a deep fryer. This place is busy!! Many people getting fresh steamed fish with an array of seasoning you put on yourself then they steam it.looked awesome. I tried the shrimp empanadas 3.00 each and worth it. Fried calamari 2 thumbs down. They are from a plastic bag in the freezer,Why? I also noticed they don't sell fresh squid or scallops. The fried scallops were fake. A huge huge variety of fresh fish on a Tuesday. That's awesome. Another note is this Covid-19 season . People are right next to each other. They have a policy they do not use. This place is okay, they offer different things. Fresh fish, steamed baskets, and fried baskets. They're pretty overpriced when buying "fresh fish" (doesn't really look fresh at all). The space is very small but is always packed with people ordering cooked food. The fried/ steamed baskets are pretty cheap. (Fried baskets lack flavor). For steamed baskets they give you seasoning and vegetables to throw in it. read more

My stepdad filled-me in on this seafood hot spot. (He's a chef, so I trust him with any food source/dining recommendation.) I recently started to broaden my cooking repertoire to seafood ,so having this seafood market within walking distance is great. The prices here are so reasonable and they have a wide range of seafood. Alaskan Wild Caught Salmon, Salmon Filets, Red Snappers, whiting, Jumbo Shrimp, huge clams, Whole Squid, and King Crabs are just a few of the seafood delectables this place offers. A great service this seafood market provides is steaming your purchased goods. Also, they have a made-to-order menu (meaning they'll cook it right in front of you), just in case you don't want to cook things yourself. They also have a freezer section where you can select packaged shrimp, seafood medley, oysters and other treats to cook now or later. And to make things better, this seafood market has a wide range of spices, batters, fish-specific aides, and add-ons to buy in additional to your fish. This seafood market is a gem of Soundview. This used to be my go to seafood spot to feed my family. I have never gone there and spent less than $100 on uncooked seafood. The last time I went I picked several whiting fish and asked to have them cleaned. I bought several other things like 3 pounds of jumbo shrimp, 2 pounds of big sea scallops and six salmon steaks. When I got the lighting home and started to prepare it I was about to throw it into the pan when I saw small worms crawling out of the fish. Every piece of whiting that I had had parasites. The scallops tasted as if they had been washed with bleach even after I cleaned and seasoned them. A total waste of money. I will never go there again. read more

This is the closest seafood spot from where I live. For me it's a hit or miss. And I think most seafood spot do this but this is my theory.... okay so we all know what a "fresh" fish supposed to look like when picking it out. It's pretty much all in the eyes and color and what not. When I pick out my fish (red snapper) then asked to be cleaned. I honestly think they swap the fish I "caught" meaning picked out and they swap it for an older fish they have in the back. Cause hunny when I tell you that smell when I get home to cook it. You can not tell me that's the same fish I picked out. Like there's NO WAY. Fish is not cheap. I'm not on food stamps ( no disrespect) wish I had it but I don't, but even if you're on food stamps why are you giving us a different fish. Did they over ordered and want to finish what they got before selling the freshest kind?? Idk but it's too suspect for me. I would keep away so go somewhere where you can actually see them clean your fish. read more

The seafood is good, fresh and not too expensive. They sell an assortment of fish, like any other fresh fish market. They also sell steamed and fried fish. You can select your own type of fish with some vegetables and they will steam both for you, which is pretty handy if you're lazy or don't have the time. I pretty much buy the fresh fish (red snapper, shrimp, etc) for home cooking. read more

Nice selection and very solicitous staff. Just dropped in to get some mussels on a whim to and they offered to prepare it for me. Counter staff start in on a a whole Forrest Gump-esque litany of all the ways they could do them up for me steamed, broiled, boiled, etc before I was able to let them know I just wanted them to go.
