I loved the variety of manga, DVDs and games. There's a huge collection of figurines and there's a gashapon inside which I thought was pretty cool. I do think that for some of the games and anime DVD's, they are priced much higher than the original cost. For example, I saw a $45 game priced at $65 with damages on the cover. I think that this location does have more variety compared to other locations and you will find yourself spending a while because there is so much to look at.

It also comes with a damaged case 40 dollars for a Nintendogs DS scratched damage case with a cartridge, 40 dollars for a 20 year old outdated game that you can easily get for free if you mod your DS in under 15 minutes OR purchase off eBay for 15 bucks. I'm surprised this store is still opened considering their extreme overpriced greed and damaged products being traded for 2 dollars and sold at 30.

I had planned to do some shopping too, but it was really crowded with other individuals dropping off donations (one woman that was so incredibly rude and pushed me and my stuff out of her way for absolutely no reason) and then also people coming to grab some items at the same time. The few items I did look at on my way out were priced a lot higher than I was expecting so I chose to go on about my day. I think I honestly just imagined a different experience, however it is nice they have this food pantry and it seems to help a lot of people.

We almost resigned ourselves to standing in the back, but we were quickly and kindly ushered to a couch. Everyone who went up to the mic was so, so good. All genres were represented: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, children's, comics. Two people even gave rousing music performances. Many people read in Spanish, and every single person read with humor, heart, and honesty. There were a lot of laughs and a lot of tears. The store truly is a safe space. Do I feel bad for not buying any books by Hispanic or Latino authors? A little bit... which is why I promise to come back and keep supporting this wonderful, beautiful, meaningful haven. Love, love, love this bookstore. They have a wide selection of used and collectible books -- from…read moreeverything (and I do mean everything) cinema to history, literature, biography, science fiction, and of course, their main specialty, magic. Since I love books, I appreciate their books on books, and they always manage to have some surprises tucked away, like gardening, philosophy, southern California history, and even travel. None of these are your standard issue books, but specially chosen, eclectic and fascinating titles. They also have posters, lobby cards, ephemera and a wide selection of classic and independent film DVDs. Great customer service, fair prices, and they are a fountain of knowledge on their subject areas. If I want to find something special for someone they always know just what to suggest. Do I sound like I'm gushing? Well, I just can't tell you what a pleasure it is to be in a place that still believes in providing a classic secondhand book store experience. The vinyl collection consisted exclusively of knockers, slappers, bangers, and heaters. I saw all of the essentials when I dug through the inventory here: Kano, James Brown, D-Train, Vaughan Mason, Graham Central Station, Hot Cuisine, The Strikers, Secret Weapon, and etcetera. Any Prelude, any Sutra, any Westend--Funk Freaks just might have it. I was pleasantly surprised. The customer service earned all the stars I can give too. Loser and Debo managed the kind of authentic professionalism and good humor that most franchises try foolishly codify in a handbook. Congeniality can't be fabricated, and neither can The Funk! Loser played me a copy of Jammin' Big Guitar by Vaughan Mason, and Debo shared a few polished anecdotes about The Funk Freaks' latest tour in Berlin. Neither man was just chilling in the store though. What is most impressive about The Freaks is their assiduous promotion of all that is FUNK FREAKS. Debo and Loser were unpacking several boxes of black sweaters featuring the notorious FUNK FREAKS graffiti that has now garnered international acclaim for Loser, Debo, Unique, Luer, Ney, Bosoe, Irene R., Clos, Lil Man, Phree, Groove, Aysai, and the rest of THE FUNK GANG. Loser only stopped moving merchandise to sell a Funk Freaks t-shirt to a woman who wanted a Funk Freaks shirt for her 2 year old. They're never too young for the Funk. The mother was in such a rush she forgot her credit card; without hesitating, Loser sped down the stairs, the shop is on the 2nd floor, stopped the mother in the lot and handed her the card. I seldom see that level of sheer effort made just to ensure a customer's satisfaction. These guys are freaks in word and deed. They go out of their way to put the classic funk in the correct hands. Do me favor. If you are a Funk Freak, or a Funk fan, please take me with you to the store when you go. I left hours ago, and I already want to be back there with The Freaks where The Funk belongs. It is kind of small but the value beats every place I've ever been to. When you park, the entrance is kind of confusing but it is on the very left where all the movie signs are. The deals are pretty good, you can rent up to 3 movies for $5 or even buy 3 good condition/popular movies for $15. Cyrus, the owner is always nice and even offers free "happy hour" where free coffee, pastries, popcorn, or candy is free w/ any rental or purchase since it is the 25 year anniversary. I totally recommend this place if you love movies and are looking for awesome deals.
