I am so glad there's still a place that sells newspapers! Usually, I go to grocery stores for them, but those places have become a bit unreliable in their offerings. Newsboy Books has what I wanted. I bought a copy of the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times. It was such a great selection. While I was at it, I also got a look at their books. It's a mixture of used and new copies. The prices range and they usually aren't discounted, but still cheaper compared to those of Barnes & Noble. The employee up front was very friendly and kind. I had called her beforehand to ask if they had sold newspapers and they answered the phone in good time. She was lovely when I arrived and we had a nice small conversation at check out. I know where I'm going to get newspapers from now on, even if it's a bit of a drive from where I live. read more

I really needed newspaper for moving, hardly anyone gets the paper anymore to save and it would cost a small fortune to buy as much paper as I needed but here I got about 5 inches high of news papers for $5.00! Thank you Newsboy! read more

I had a day off and decided to check out Ontario since moving into the IE in the past year. When I checked for "books" in Yelp, this was one of the shops that came up, but I couldn't tell on what they had based on the pictures, so a visit was needed! Came by on a Friday, and curb parking was available! I'm not sure how busy it gets on weekends, but there seems to be ample street parking. Was friendly greeted upon walking in, and this place is SO MUCH BIGGER than I could figure out based on the original Yelp/Google pictures. Yes, they have magazines and newspapers, but they have books! Some of the books are a little bit aged, but the employee did confirm that they get new shipments EVERY WEEK, and they definitely had modern books (omg, they had the Iron Flame book with the black-edged pages....). Also, they have such an assortment of books! Educational/exam prep, computer, self-help, fiction, religious, non-fiction, coloring books, westerns, crafts, etc. etc, they basically have it all! And some art signed! Some are on sale/discounted! I loved that they had something for everyone, and there are some items that are a little bit older/kitschy, but it still brought joy to my heart. I mean, come on, finding those type of "privacy" signs for kids' bedroom doors are a little dated, but it's also quite cute. And, paperdolls! I haven't seen any of those classics in a long time, and it's so cool to see them still be available! I definitely went home with a lot of hardcover books, most that were signed! The employee was kind to also provide me with a number of bookmarks. Highly, highly recommend on making a visit here. I feel that bookstores are a dying breed, and they're needed to help provide people with different outlooks. This particular store has been there for at least 50 years and maybe it should at least be there for another 50! Also, I did ask the employee if I could take pictures, as there's just SO MUCH that I didn't know they had based on the original Yelp pictures. This is the kind of bookstore the leads of a 90s romcom go to fall in love!! They have such a wide variety of reads you can't get at other, larger bookstores and for that, I am eternally grateful. If you're looking for a niche gift or just want to browse and listen to fun tunes, go here!! Wow, I cannot believe that these guys are still in business. I have been visiting this book store since the late 90s and early 2000s when I lived in Pomona and Claremont. Its a great place with old and new books. They also sale old record albums here, and a bunch of other non book items. You can also purchased some food and snacks here. Pretty dusty in here sometimes. Its a old store as in a Ontario Downtown Classic. Cool employees and all. Its never that busy when I'd visit here back in the days. Nice to know that they are still around. read more

Newsboy Books is like a taking a step back in time with its cozy atmosphere and wide selection of books ranging from "vintage" to recently published. Not only was it fun to browse, but many items were priced lower than at Barnes and Noble. We found signed copies, cheap puzzle books, and cheap gift ideas! They have hundreds of books that include the classics, children's, Spanish language, best sellers, the latest releases. And they are open until 7:00 p.m. They have been selling their books for over 50 years, a true Ontario staple. read more

I love a great book store steaming from my child hood trauma of numerous book fairs of a child and not being able to buy all the books on those colorful forms, now that I'm an adult I have it my way when I want. A surprising and charming analogue relic in a digital world. This place is wonderful in its own way. The kind of bookstore you miss in a nostalgic way, loaded with of incredible old "new" stock stuff. Like, original never-sold 80's and 90's books that you remember like a dream from your youth. It smells like your old high school library. The employees were helpful and told us about its over 60 year history. It's a VERY unique store, landing somewhere between book store and vintage store. You'll see a modern book like "Zoom For Dummies" across the shelf from a clamshell book about cooking, complete with included VHS tape thats still shrink wrapped and been sitting there for 40 years. There's original paper dolls books of Nancy Reagan next to magazines about Cryptocurrency. It's wild. Lots of its "brand new" old stock is leftover from their other locations that closed over the years. If you're seeking something up to date, it might be hit or miss and Barnes and Noble is going to be a better bet... BUT, you really just have to come in and wander and let the store speak to you about what you need. I'm not kidding, it's a legitimate time machine experience if you ever wanted to experience the 80's bookstore. Anyway, I loved it. Head over here and buy something. Anything. This place is a gem and well worth the drive from Claremont and Rancho. A real honest local bookstore w great service. The next closest is in Riverside. They not only stock the Sunday NEW YORK TIMES and will hold it for me until I can pick it up. Great service. Terrific magazine selection. And, the ride south on Euclid from Foothill is pretty and shady and historic. Drive on down to check it out and stay in the neighborhood for an authentic taco. read more

Highly recommend Newsboy Bookstore in Downtown Ontario. I ordered books a while ago, they called to let me know my order was in, I missed it. They called again today, to make sure I didn't need my order for Christmas. She even offered to stay past 6pm if I needed her to, ON CHRISTMAS EVE. Amazon started as an online bookstore, and Newsboy has survived it, so far. Please, take the extra time, have some patience, and buy local. read more

I love bookstores. I was driving to the freeway and saw this store, so I turned around and went in. They have a large selection of magazines and books. They actually had paper dolls! A good selection too. We found some good books to take with us. The people in the store were super helpful and very nice. If you enjoy reading stop by here and grab some books and magazines. Came for the LA Times the morning after the Dodgers' World Series win and missed out since they sold out immediately. The ladies were very helpful and put me down on the waitlist for when they restocked on the particular issue. Got a call a couple days later that they got it in and was available for pickup. They were so nice and incredibly patient with the long line. I'll be giving them more of my business once the magazines start coming out of the WS win. I even got some Lakers magazines after the NBA title and they were all in great condition. read more

5/21/2018 Had one hour to burn while waiting for an order to be done, I wandered around Newsboy Books... and lost time in there. Could be improved: - Old posters are truly old. Same with greeting cards. Though the selections are interesting & unique, could have added more better quality and newer ones - Kids section is right next (or in front) of the cabbage romance Like: I like it personally as it reminds me of an old bookstore atmosphere. There are a good mixed selections of old and new books as well as magazines (note, "old" books - not the smelly, yellow stained used books in the used book store). The selections cover most interesting subjects (I particularly like the cut out paper doll section). For a modern atmosphere, there is Ontario public library just right across the street (free). With comparable prices, for a flashy and new (but shallow) selection (with coffee being sold along), there is Barns & Noble. For a relax cruising time, visit Newsboy Books. read more

I have been going to Newsboy since my brother first took me there when I was six years old. It's the only news stand I go to. The selection is insane and the staff is very friendly. If you're a regular that stops in for a specific magazine and you missed last month, they will offer you the back issue if you want it. read more
